Motor City Madness…

Qualifier – 18 USC Sec. 871 is a federal class D felony which prohibits threats/extortion and/or violence against the President of the United States. It is my stated position that any person convicted of violating this statute should and must be punished to the fullest extent allowed. Our nation is a Constitutionally protected and governed republic under law. Respect and adherence to those laws is essential to the tenet of freedom and justice for all.

Ted Nugent is anything but timid when he speaks. One rarely has to wonder what his message is. After reading just about every account of the recent dust up over remarks he made at an NRA Convention in St. Louis however, including that of a recent meeting between the “outwardly patriotic Nuge” and the Secret Service where the matter was declared “resolved without necessity of further action“, it is clear the “Motor City Madman” was once again lambasted out of context by the Left and so-called “main stream” press. At this point though, I will leave this specific matter in the capable hands of my astute and educated audience so they may make their own determination(s).

I cannot however, walk away from the blatant and frankly outrageous hypocrisy on the part of the Left in this country when it comes to the argument over civility. For the life of me, I don’t remember a time when that argument has been so one-sidedly misrepresented in the media. When Gabrielle Gifford’s was critically injured in that horrific Tucson massacre, I remember a monotone President who spoke long and fervently about the desperate need for civility in our nation. Since that time we have seen the POTUS inject himself time and again into the “politics of justice” in what can best be described as “muscling” the potential outcome of a politically charged event for personal and political gain. He subsequently jumbles the facts, and even turned a blind eye to threats of violence by a militant and clearly racist organization against a defendant in an as yet unresolved and local criminal matter. Mr. Obama and his supporting cast of Progressive characters have simply missed (or ignored) every opportunity to inspire “We the People” to the obviously higher ground, instead choosing to stoke the flames of descent on both sides. Media elitists and Hollywood insiders get a pass when they berate and insult Conservative women, and Republican politicians are all too often accused of wanting to starve children, pollute the water and air, and cheat our seniors. This from the party of perpetual poverty and dependency and their standard-bearer, a man who is supposedly schooled in Constitutional law, and was once a practicing “civil rights attorney”.

Anyhow, I must admit the “Nuge” issue would have been much easier to digest if it weren’t for the fact that our young people are exposed daily to the vulgar and violent “musical”/”acting” tirades of literally hundreds of entertainment industry thugs, who/which have celebrated and continue to celebrate everything from sexual and physical violence against women, racist terminology and thought, the murder of law enforcement officers, and even the assassination of a former President. I mean, are these folks who are now calling for Ted Nugent’s scalp for real?

While I am disheartened by what I see as a growing chasm between the ideologies in America today, I still feel that civility and Constitutionally realistic compromise are the way forward. For my part, I will continue to argue my position in a “passionate” but “factual” manner. Having said that, I am ready at a moment’s notice to listen to reason and truth, if the other side will as well…

Polls and more polls…

It is interesting to note the average of the Presidential Election polls lately. Mitt Romney would essentially be tied with the POTUS if the election were held today. Now there are a couple of ways to look at this. Firstly, the same polls show huge negatives for the incumbent President when it comes to his handling of the economy. Those same negatives translate into huge positives when folks are asked if they feel Mitt Romney would do a better job in that area. Taking this into consideration one has to wonder why Romney is not ahead in the polling. Secondly, the overall likability and what is said to be “unwavering” union support numbers swing heavily in President Obama’s favor making one ask, why he is not farther ahead?

At the end of the day the election is still months away and I have to believe folks are just not yet engaged. This isn’t to say the current condition of our United States is not on the minds of many Americans. It does however lend itself to my theory that this election will be more about “We the People”, and how we see ourselves just a generation and a half removed from what was once the “American Dream”.

Consequently, if I were to advise Mr. Romney and those handling his campaign I would tell them, these poll numbers may be showing us the Obama class warfare message is finding its mark. We are not the America of the 1950’s any longer, and many young people of this age know little or nothing of the hard work, sacrifice and values that got us here. Revisionist history and a warped version of multiculturalism, applied by way of political correctness, ignorance and American complacency, are being used by the Left to hijack and eventually stamp out our own unique and necessary culture. In November of this year, we shall see just how successful they have been.

War on women???

The President’s efforts to divide our nation appear to be playing out in a big way in the media today. It seems yet another Obama insider has had a slip of the tongue, or not. Liberal attack dog Hilary Rosen is anything but apologetic however, and is defending her comments about Ann Romney and how Rosen feels that being a “stay at home mom” is somehow less than work and a perk of the privileged. (Only if they are Conservative). Moreover, WH Press Secretary  “School Boy Jay Carney” couldn’t even man up and address Rosen’s charge that raising 5 children through breast cancer and multiple sclerosis doesn’t qualify as work, but rather went on a tangent about the POTUS’s pandering to the women’s vote. I mean this guy makes me nauseous on so many levels I can’t count them.

Now setting aside the fact that my wife would beg to differ with Rosen, (add angry “stay at home mom” tirade here), this insanity is sure to invite the wrath of many a mom who is simply trying to give their young one(s) the best possible start in this life. Truth be told, there are still those of us who believe that “mom”, as part of a nuclear family where dad can get out and work his damn tail off, is in fact the best and most qualified person to take care of the kids. We also believe that the “broken home”, as well as the home with two working parents, are statistically less conducive to a child’s success by way of many types of pitfalls, thus we make sacrifices in the best interest of our posterity. This does not mean we are wealthy by any stretch. In fact many of us are anything but. It also does not mean that success cannot be achieved despite hardship or disadvantage. The idea is that we should address the root causes of our societal ills and not attempt to disguise them with ideological foolishness and classroom theory, put forth by many a tenured but wholly inexperienced and/or misguided “educator”.

Look, one only has to do a bit of simple homework to know the real story of Romney and his wife and how they held their babies on their laps and studied off a wooden door propped up on saw horses and used as a table so they could get their educations, and how Mitt donated all of his inheritance to his father’s institute so he might make his own mark in this world. But this is the problem. Sacrifice and hard work are ridiculed as dated and “politically incorrect” within the Obama Utopia. Ambition and effort are being replaced by resentment and entitlements at any cost, and that will be the true legacy of this “Hope and Change” President.

Our only “Hope” is that we “Change” Presidents in November…

Credibility Gap…

I have waited for the District Attorney in the Trayvan Martin case to make a decision regarding whether or not to file charges against George Zimmerman. At least now we may hear some of the actual evidence as put forth by that office and not framed by a media bias/agenda. Sadly however, I watched the family press conference after today’s announcement and saw that fraud Sharpton standing right in the middle of them, hence destroying any credibility or empathy I may have been inclined to lend their way. I will read about the verdict when it’s over…

End game = Acceptance…

The issue of traditional and/or culturally accepted norms is never far from the political discussion for me. Accordingly, and when I engage in these types of arguments, I always take into consideration the Left’s “smoke and mirror” media play for civil debate,  so long as in the end, theirs is the only position left as an option. For too long now the Progressive/Liberal movement in our country has been given a pass in this regard. Under the guise of “political correctness”, we have witnessed the slow but steady erosion of the fundamental and stabilizing bedrock of our society. That which we have returned to time and again throughout our storied history to carry us through, is now called into question with alarming regularity. Sadly, there are also mitigating factors which may have catastrophic consequences for our posterity.

You may have read about the recent controversy surrounding a so-called “prayer banner” hanging in a Cranston Rhode Island high school which apparently offended a “16” year old self professed “atheist”. A law suit was initiated by, you guessed it the ACLU, on behalf of the young student, and eventually the city relented for “financial reasons”. (Ironically, they still had to pay over $100,000.00 in legal fees to the ACLU). A sign of the economic times we are living in? I’d say…

Well it seems there is yet another dust up in my home “State of disarray”. A 17 year old young woman (Liz Bierendy), from Pilgrim High School in Warwick Rhode Island is now in the hot seat for painting a mural depicting, get this, a traditional family unit of a father, mother and child, as part of her project to highlight a young man’s journey to adulthood. The family portion of the mural was painted over as it may have offended some who do not espouse to this “way of life”. Huh?

Anyway, I am not going to debate the controversy itself today, but rather what I see as the real reason for it. In the simplest possible terms there are two issues in play here, financial and personal. Regarding the financial aspect, it is easy to see the Left’s ACLU tactic of carefully selecting their targets based on the opponents ability to financially fight back, (protracted court battles and the like). In these times of crippling financial problems for local governments, it is certainly a daunting proposition for any municipality to lock horns with the mighty and extraordinarily well-funded ACLU. This was ultimately the deciding factor for the City of Cranston and may be for Warwick as well. From a purely economic perspective, and on all levels of government, we have literally spent ourselves out of the ability to respond and challenge these frivolous and frankly un-American attacks, and the Left knows it. On the personal side, I will now touch that proverbial raw nerve that causes my email in-box to read – “tilt”.

In this life we are all challenged with the emotion and desire for acceptance. Everyone handles this differently considering a variety of societal factors. In the case of some however, they will cross red hot broken glass barefoot to achieve it, and others may even “cross the line” (fill in the blanks). I have said and will continue to say that, the issue of the traditional family unit, and how it may relate to the causes of gay rights and/or any other “alternative” lifestyle, is purely one of acceptance for the so-called “aggrieved” parties directly involved, and nothing more than a means to a political end/agenda for Liberal politicians pandering to a particular voter block. In all candor, many of my Liberal friends would shudder if they heard some of the references to gay people made by some Democrats with whom I have interacted over the years. That aside, I feel strongly that the line is crossed when the majority are pressured not only to legislatively accommodate the minority, but also to “accept” on a much more personal level, that which they do not believe is true or right. In the end, that acceptance is what is desired, as it justifies, reconciles and lends perceived credibility to the beliefs of the minority, albeit in their own minds. Without it, they is no victory. The problem is, this thought process flies contrary to our Constitution, in that it violates the rights of just about everyone else. What about my beliefs? What about my religion? What about the fundamental and culturally accepted and practiced norm of almost an entire nation?

On the eve of what is likely to be another unnecessary and costly battle over someone’s alleged civil rights, I would add that my commentary is in no way meant to incite a feeling of anti-gay, or for that matter anti-anything. To the contrary, I sit in judgment of no man, women or otherwise and how they choose to lead their lives. I am simply not qualified. With that said however, change simply for the sake of change, without “honest” debate, and enacted purely for “feel good” reasons, often has unintended and negative consequences. While we all have rights, and this is what sets us apart from the rest of the world, we must also remember that the cultural “baseline” on which our nation was founded reminds us those rights come not from the hand of man, and must not trample the rights of another. Bias and hate are wrong and should be challenged and condemned to be sure. But blind acceptance for the sake of political expediency begets tyranny every time.

For Patriots Only???

Never in our nation’s history have the numbers been so glaringly obvious and the consequences of inaction so dire. All across the United States, cities, towns and even entire state governments are enduring the result of generations of fiscal irresponsibility on the part of some whom we’ve elected to speak for us in government. The power of an organized minority, emboldened by a blatantly hypocritical and complicit “main stream” media, and combined with a hard-working but long complacent majority, have set in motion events which our enemies could not ever have hoped to achieve militarily. As we watch our indebtedness grow beyond our ability to grasp the real figures, our children’s future and any hope for a better America we may leave them, now seem truly unrealistic at best. So I turn to Wisconsin and wonder, would it not be better if the recall elections achieve their desired result? In fact I wonder, would it not be better for this to be the case nationwide so Americans might realize once and for all the true magnitude of our plight? Are we too big to fail?

I am convinced of one thing this Spring, and that is America’s superpower clock is ticking. This November we face the fork in the road I have written about countless times. Do we bear “Left” and abandon a belief system that has set us apart for the better, thus relegating this great nation to an inevitable ash heap of European Socialist doctrine? Or do we bear “Right” and fix only what’s broken so we may begin down what is certain to be a long road back to our posterity’s American dream? The choice is much simpler than many on both sides would have you believe.

One road is easy and its grievous consequences supported by historical fact. The other road is much more difficult, but comes with freedom and peace of mind. Peace in the notion that your children’s future is in their hands and not those of an unseen and uncaring bureaucrat whose only desires our fortune and power/control. I hate to sound lofty and rhetorical, but I cannot listen to another political hack purposely muddy the waters to confuse the voter. “The argument” is most certainly part of the process of Democracy, and an important part at that. But we who engage in the discourse have a duty to be truthful not just in our factual reporting, but in our intent as well.

You see, a Liberal friend once commented to me that he felt unwelcome by the description of this blog, (For Patriots Only). I explained to him that he needn’t feel slighted because I knew of his love for his country, and that makes him a “Patriot” regardless of his political leanings. On the other hand, I feel strongly that some on the Left are hiding behind a Constitution they mean to dissolve or remove as a roadblock to their utopian dream land, and they are my political enemies. Mind you I still support their right to free speech, however I would prefer they be intellectually honest about their true intentions. The only prerequisite I have for “the argument”, is the acceptance of the fact that this nation while not perfect, provides a platform of human freedom unlike any in the world, and that platform has its roots in two documents written to ensure future generations never forget it.

So as I often do, I’m using one issue to broach another. After the Republican Primary, it will be up to voters in Wisconsin to make a choice similar to that which all Americans will consider in November. How far from the Framers intent, an ideal fostered in the mindset of personal freedom and responsibility as the road to individual success, do we wish to go? In the end, history tells us that if we choose the easy road, it is never easy for very long…

Say what???

There has been much in the news of late to which a pundit’s attention is warranted.  So let’s have some fun.

A couple of observations stand out for me, not the least of which is an apparent and continuing disconnect at the WH when it comes to the President’s appearances and statements. For instance, the big rally at the GM plant seemed almost a bad comedic line at a Dean Martin Celebrity Roast, when we learned barely a day later that production on the Chevy Volt would cease for lack of sales. Now I’m not sure if Mr. Obama intends to custom order his Volt, but if so he may be surprised to find out he’ll have to take one off the lot. Now I know all the “greenies” out there are screaming that it was all the negative “fire” press that doomed the little car that couldn’t, but actually it was more likely the $40,000.00 price tag. Heck even with a $7500.00 tax credit, folks didn’t seem eager to hop in for the “short” ride. Nonetheless the question remains, where were the POTUS’s handlers on this one??

I recently read a bit on Warren Buffett regarding his battles with the IRS over some unpaid taxes and thought to myself, this is the same guy who’s advocating we all step up and pay our “fair” share. In view of this extraordinary development, I read on that Buffett’s airline owes more than $350,000,000.00 and is locked in a suit counter suit with the government he so enthusiastically promotes as the solver of all of our national woes. Well as far as I can see, this would be a great opportunity for the old gent to put his money where his mouth is and fork it over for the greater good. (Not gonna happen people). You see that is the old Liberal game of “do as I say and not as I do”. These people are always most comfortable spending other people’s money.

I just thought hypocrisy would be a good lead in for the next few posts. Stay tuned…

Youthful ignorance…

Some of you may have read recently about the prayer banner controversy in a Cranston Rhode Island high school. For those who haven’t, it was another example of the ACLU’s illegitimacy in area of Constitutionality, and the exploitation of yet another young person not fully “educated” in the world.

This is something I wrote for a popular Christian newspaper that kind of sums up my individual feelings on the matter. From there I encourage all of you to research and read about the slow undoing of all that makes us who we are.

From “The Good News Today”

Hello Friends,

I’m not so old that I can’t remember my thought process back when I was 15 or 16 years old. Not yet anyway… I suppose I could have been moved to one particular cause or another, but only if prodded or persuaded by someone of age and/or so called “wisdom”. Hence my days as a not so bright “beach cleaner” with limited focus and an equally limited understanding of reality. My point is, it’s certainly a fair statement to say we mature with age. Much of what we believe in our youth is “usually” at the very least influenced by time and life’s future lessons. Therefore, when I hear a young person speak to their belief system(s) one way or another, I take that with a grain of salt and snicker under my breath remembering all of my own journeys.

I live in Barrington now but grew up in Cranston Rhode Island, and I’m familiar with the prayer banner hanging in my old school, Cranston High School West. Notably, I’ve always viewed my home city as a kind of quirky place where “keeping up with the Jones” seemed a way of life. It was hard to pin folks down as the trends changed, religious and otherwise. For this reason hypocrisy will always factor into any analysis of mine concerning events coming out of Cranston. It’s important to note however, this is a personal distinction and not an indictment of the city on mass. Appropriately, the banner is a simple statement and its words give voice to some of the most basic values every student should aspire to regardless of any religious connotation attached to it. Truth be told, the story of Jessica Ahlquist and the prayer banner is somewhat of a non-starter for me based simply on the fact that this young woman is just that, a young woman. She is barely 16 and in the very beginnings of this life developmentally. I certainly will not debate her intellect as she seems intelligent and well-spoken for her age. With that said, it is equally as clear that the ACLU is a major player in this ongoing saga. It is important to note this is an agency with a track record of manipulating puppet causes as a means to forward an agenda focused on the systematic undoing (re-doing) of our Constitution to reflect something very different than the intent of the Framers. So carefully are the Amendments “chosen” to defend, as well as the players who will ultimately be out front of the argument, that all credibility associated with this phony bunch on any subject is subsequently diminished or completely absent.

Appropriately, my Editor has asked that I not bore you with precedent on either side of the “separation clause” as this is can be a political argument I am willing to, and have taken a great distance in the past. I will simply tell you that many of our time seem predisposed to partner with agencies like the ACLU in an effort to steer folks away from what are some of the most fundamental tenets and foundations of our nation. The matter of the Framers and their intent when it came to the first amendment is clear for any who wish to (do their homework). Sadly, the only way away from a life of faith and personal responsibility is to diminish and eventually eradicate that which brought us here in the first place, that which “separates” us from the rest, and that which has allowed for our success as a culture, “one nation under God”. Ironically, it is not Jessica who carries the message of secularism and human vanity, but rather it is her parents and their generation who have failed in every way to give her the unfiltered and non-revisionist history necessary for her to at least make a 16 year olds “educated decision” on the issue. In the end it is free country and (God has given her free will). I suppose I will just have to go back to the beginning of this little piece and pray that life’s lessons may show her differently with time. Unfortunately, the message continues to be watered down with each passing generation and our posterity suffers for it. Soon we may actually find ourselves the, “be all and end all”, and then it will simply be too late…

NOTE: 3/6/12: I have just read today that the city of Cranston will now pay the ACLU $150,000.00 in legal fees after bowing to their threats of litigation. So in setting aside the collective and majority will of the people to leave in place a fundamental and historical piece of a school’s history for fear of paying through the nose, the city of Cranston will pay through the nose anyway. We are giving away our country one lawsuit at a time…

Our Heavenly Father.
Grant us each day the desire to do our best. To grow mentally and morally as well as physically. To be kind and helpful to our classmates and teachers. To be honest with ourselves as well as with others. Help us to be good sports and smile when we lose as well as when we win. Teach us the value of true friendship. Help us always to conduct ourselves so as to bring credit to Cranston High School West.

Amen.

Lambasting Limbaugh…

Well it looks like the “main stream” media will take yet another whack at Limbaugh. And once again there will be some knee jerk reactions to that “press”. Subsequently, I will be sure and remove any and all affiliation with, or purchase from “Legal Zoom”, “Quicken Loans” and “The Sleep Train”, makers of the Sleep Number Bed. And this goes for every other entity or business so quick to bow to the whining Socialists which have infiltrated and hijacked journalism in our country.

As I have said many times, Rush is not a journalist, a fact he himself has pointed out so many times on his program. He is a radio talk show personality with an opinion based show which thrives on ratings. (Ironically, all this attention does nothing but drive his ratings even further skyward). Now I will not reiterate again how the reason for the Lefts attacks on the portly pundit are obviously rooted in their failure to present and maintain any semblance of a competitive show to best him, as well as just a simple inability to compete in the arena of ideas. Basically speaking, he cleans their clocks in the ratings markers with embarrassing regularity. Moreover, every Lib show to challenge him has failed miserably because no one is interested enough to listen, (a fact which infuriates the “Fairness Doctrine” folk’s).

In this case, rush as he so often does, was using edgy stuff to draw attention to the fact that the Dems have no problem sending out the innocent to do their dirty work for them. He was reminding his listeners of exactly the tactics the Left uses, and what they essentially lead too. Everyone knows Rush does not support any initiatives which mandate insurers provide birth control to their customers, as those insurers will in turn pass that cost on to the other customers. That is just simple mathematics even an idiot understands. (Accept maybe an ideological idiot). What Rush was doing was verbally illustrating the obvious mine field Progressives send their foot soldiers through with absolutely no regard for the way they will be treated on the other side. He was drawing attention to the notion that this is not a question for prime time and never should have been. As a personal observation, I have no interest whatsoever in this young lady’s sex life, family planning issues or anything else for that matter. It is none of my business. It has little if anything to do with women’s health and everything to do with agenda based political gain. Sadly, young ideologues are often drawn into the web of deceit spun by the Obama sycophants and are subsequently labeled and unjustly ridiculed for it. “Sad but true.”

Now while Rush can be a bit brash at times, he reminds his listeners they must tune in regularly to the program and understand fully his approach to these types of issues, and the entertainment based satire he often uses to make his points.  (Anybody remember Don Imus and the shellacking he took from those poster children for racist hypocrites, Sharpton and Jackson??) This is what these guys do. If ya don’t like it, spin the knob…

Look, the bottom line here is stay out of the fire if you can’t take the heat. And to the Democrats who are now holding up this young woman as a cause celeb for no other reason than to silence Limbaugh, shame on you for your indecent and uncaring willingness to use her as a prop for your political gain.

Oh, and I will continue to post a listing of those who abandon Limbaugh, and urge all of my readers to “drop” them as well.

Andrew Breitbart, February 1, 1969 – March 1, 2012…

3/1/12 – The untimely death of Andrew Breitbart showed me something today. Despite having been at this game a little while, I am still a bit of a novice. As I read through some of the vile crap posted on the social networks by a number of hygienically and morally challenged individuals, it occurred to me the propagandists are indeed a dangerous bunch. Truth be told, I have been labeled in this regard a number of times.

I have to admit though, even having been witness to some of mankind’s most evil acts against one another, there is nothing like the presentation by an individual so corrupted by an ideology that they are incapable of (real) debate. Any form of mutual discussion with this type, descends almost immediately into vitriol and unabashed intolerance for any other argument, (or person) for that matter. They seem almost robotic as if brainwashed beyond any compromise by hate and deep seeded self-esteem issues. I find this to be the case when dealing with the Progressive wing of the Democrat party. So “convinced” of the opposition’s complicity in all things bad in the world, they simply cannot allow the seeds of self-doubt to temper their rhetoric. They become that which they claim to oppose with every fiber of their being. These are the true Socialists. These are the real intolerant among us, the true minority who would even “silence” dissent if allowed to by way of our collective complacency or some perceived notion of “political correctness”.

Now I will admit that I was not a Breitbart follower per say, and I’m not so naïve as to candy coat the real world we live in. But what decent person among us could condone such hate filled vitriol as we have witnessed in recent hours? What decent person could view this as acceptable while a wife and children mourn the loss of a husband and father? A consequence of the saturation of social media, maybe? Ironically, it seems to be a broad cut of the Leftist political machine, from the “intellectual giants” in the twitter cage to the so called “main stream media” types. This is not to condemn the lot by any means, but you know who they are.

Breitbart was apparently many things to many people. He was true to his cause and passionate to a fault at times with regard to his beliefs. He was not perfect, but who in this field claims to be? He took a position and defended it. Simply put and for the purposes of this post, he was a family man and he died too young. For my part, I have many political enemies and feel strongly about how their agendas will affect my son’s country. Debate along these lines is what sets us apart from the rest of the world, and I welcome it (if) sincere. However, with the exception of those who would harm children, and of course Osama bin-Laden, I could never see myself partaking in such hurtful dialogue at so inappropriate a time. It is simply wrong.

So at the risk of over simplifying, I will reflect on what my dad told me many years ago: “Take a step back kiddo and consider the source. That (sxxt) just makes rejects feel good about themselves”… He was a smart guy my dad…
