Benghazi footnote…

I’m quite sure I don’t understand the comparison being drawn between the unfortunate and tragic deaths of brave security contractors in an Iraqi war zone, to the attack on our consulate in Benghazi Libya, an area the Obama Administration had all but called stable and “operationally secure”. Frankly, the notion that a coordinated al-Qaeda terrorist attack on an embassy compound resulting in the murder of a United States Ambassador and his attaché as well as two CIA special operators coming to their rescue, is somehow to be seen in the same light as an operation in a combat area, put in play to augment and/or replace a stressed U.S. military presence on the ground providing logistical security in that area, just tells me the effort to make Ambassador Steven’s murder go away continues at the highest levels. It also tells me that the idea this would be swept under the rug with the re-election of Barack Obama as President was not altogether bluster by those who knew better. What will be sickening to watch however, is how the politicians who originally championed this for what it was, will now run for political cover to save their own place in the game instead of fighting for what they know is right.

Tragically, the truth may be lost forever. And those who either dropped the ball, or worse yet purposefully manipulated the situation on the ground in Libya so as to not jeopardize this Liberal President’s failed ideological vision for “peace in that region”, may very well never face justice or have to explain their reasoning to the families of those lost.

I must admit, I am not disheartened by the election results so much as I am the disintegration of any remaining honor and integrity at the highest levels of our government under this President. Though, I did expect it…

Main Stream Media AWOL, FOX to the rescue…

Once again it’s Ed Henry and Jonathon Hunt of FOX News who “dare” to ask the pertinent and tough questions of this President.

For the first time in eight months Mr. Obama took questions from the media in a press conference format. As expected, the usual suspects from the main stream press threw out the soft balls and allowed the POTUS to bloviate about how he’s going to “fix” our fiscal and immigration problems, all the while continuing to blame everyone but the WH Chef for those problems. And while the fiscal cliff and comprehensive immigration reform are certainly critical issues, I think everyone would agree the news of the day was the Petraeus scandal and Benghazi cover up.

Two things continue to stand out for me regarding this ever-growing nightmare, the first being what I see as a lack of outrage over the loss of one of our Ambassadors and three other American hero’s to a terrorist attack. This is made even more intolerable by the main stream press and their disgraceful behavior when it comes to uncovering the truth about the attack. The downright fawning over President Obama yesterday is something I have never witnessed, and it is sickening to watch. Secondly, it is just plain unacceptable that the “most powerful man in the world”, and the one who you would think should be able to answer a simple question like “what orders did you give to protect the American people”, basically has nothing to say.

I wrote recently that in my judgment, I felt Barack Obama was not suited nor qualified to do the job of the President, and that his ill-tempered and misguided response to this crisis in particular would be his undoing. I stand by that predication with one caveat, that being whether or not the pre-meditated and terrorist murder of four Americans in a foreign land means anything to America any longer…

My hat’s off today to Senator John McCain and others in Congress, and especially to Senator Lindsey Graham for his honest and forthright retort of the President after Mr. Obama’s “appearance” yesterday. We have reached those crossroads my fellow Americans, and it is going to take men of deep personal conviction, character and fortitude to pull us back from the clutches of cowardice and deceit. The families of those four brave souls who perished that horrible night back on “9/11”, deserve nothing short of the truth from the President of The United States.

Stay tuned..

Preamble…

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

You don’t have to read very deep into our Constitution to find the true intent of those who penned it. I would tell you however, some extra reading on the Founders, and more specifically the personal letters and papers of John Dickinson, Gouverneur Morris, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Thomas Paine, Edmund Randolph, James Madison, Roger Sherman, James Wilson, and George Wythe, would certainly provide you the necessary context so readily dismissed / ignored by our “Constitutional Law Professor” President. But I guess the fact that he believes there are 57 states, gives you an idea how much emphasis / value he places in one of the most influential documents written in all of human history. Nevertheless, let’s briefly examine what was intended to be a simple but definitive preamble to and explanation of the document for which it was written.

1. “We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union,” – Very simply put, this sentence is meant to identify who the document refers to, and also to make it plain that a perfect union is unattainable by any reasonable measure, hence the (“more” perfect) reference. It is the individual’s journey to that end which makes us collectively exceptional.

2. “establish justice, insure domestic tranquility,” – These are references to law enforcement as would be necessary within the framework of a “republic under law or representative republic”, and include things like community policing and local jurisdiction as granted, and for the purposes of security within the borders of the nation and the states.

3. “provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare,” – This is where folks go off the reservation and attempt to make the Constitution say something it doesn’t. The first part is clearly the authors stating that a military shall be responsible to protect the country (common defense). And the second part says to promote, (NOT PROVIDE) for the general welfare. (Promote – Further the progress of (something, esp. a cause, venture, or aim); support or actively encourage.) NOT to dictate and/or pay for that which is not set forth therein.

4. “and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity” – I feel this is the most important part of the entire preamble. Liberty and freedom must forever be at the root of all we do regarding our Republic, for our sake, and the sake of our children.

I think it’s fair to say that much of this “originalism” as it is now referred to by the academic elite, is lost on many a 60’s burn out, as well as subsequent generations, and has been replaced with a selfish revisionism intended to alter and eventually accommodate those of lesser fortitude and/or values oriented intent. The operative word here is intent, and is meant to infer that I understand the Founders were not perfect. But they themselves understood this well. It was their acknowledgment of that lack of perfection, but also their “pursuit” of it, that made them far different than the grievously flawed leaders of today.

Like it or not folks, there are undeniable truths in this life. Historically speaking, it is human deviation from these truths that is inevitably and always the downfall of free nations.

Reality Check 2012…

Even I thought I would have more time to check the reality of this election. Wrong… Now that the Liberal/Progressives have cemented their place within the future framework  of our country, it’s time to take stock of what that really means.

1. Moody’s has put the United States on notice that if a debt deal is not reached very soon they will downgrade our credit rating. They were also pointedly clear to the Fed, that any deal must not be a “kick the can down the road” application, but rather must contain “substantial and significant” measures, that would calm the fears of a watching world with regard to whether or not the U.S. will be a “worthy investment” moving forward. It is now painfully obvious that the simplistic and feel good “fair share” mentality, packaged and sold as the answer to our fiscal woes by this President and his supporters, will be nothing short of inadequate, and a shallow and fruitless approach to the goal of avoiding the fiscal chasm we face.

2. As anticipated, major corporations like Boeing are now preparing to cut staffing levels and work weeks, as well as substantially reduce their overhead (close area support operations), to offset the inevitable costs of “Obamacare”. The President’s signature law will, as predicted, result in skyrocketing healthcare costs to businesses large and small, and eventually diminish care for all Americans.

3. The Obama Administration, aided by a complacent and complicit main stream media, is now laying the foundation for a (major league) cover-up attempt surrounding the (bush league) handling of the Benghazi attack, which resulted in the murder of our Ambassador and three other American heroes. Moreover, the number of questions raised by the recent resignation of General David Patraeus only complicate the issue of any Administration transparency further. How this plays out over the next few months will be a significant measure as to where our nation is headed concerning the accountability of our elected officials. As of this moment, President Barack Obama’s Administration has set new and dangerous precedents along these lines, and appears to be re-writing our beloved Constitution.

As I watch all of this unfolding with lightning speed, and then add many of the pet causes of this now uninhibited ideological President, the words “elections have consequences” burn in my brain. I am also very curious to know how his supporters will react as the bottom ultimately falls away. Who will they blame? What solutions will they offer? Tax the rich some more? And what happens when they have no more to give?

For the first time in our history my fellow Americans, it is now indisputable fact that we will leave our children a lesser country than we inherited…

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.

Can’t stay away for long…

Ok folks, let’s be honest with ourselves. The Republicans didn’t lose because they oppose abortion or gay marriage, or because some politician has a foot in mouth problem. And they didn’t lose because they don’t work with Democrats, or because Chris Matthews says they are racist. The Republicans lost because their message didn’t include free stuff for those who don’t deserve it.

They lost because of the short-sightedness and selfishness of “Big Labor”, and because folks didn’t want to hear that the deterioration of the American family in our urban centers is the cancer eating away at our Republic. And also, they didn’t want to hear that racism and bigotry are being kept alive only in the ideologies of those who seek excuses, and/or power over an uneducated demographic, which in turn brings them electoral gains. (See Obama Phone video)

No my fellow Americans, this is much more simple than the talking heads tucked away in some obscure wing of one of our “esteemed” halls of academia would have you believe. The simple truth of the matter is, “the free ride” now trumps “freedom”. More Americans feel comfortable with the idea that government can and should provide for them. One need only look from county to county where the President did very well to see this unfolding before our eyes.

So my message to those of the Constitutional persuasion is straight forward today. Do not be tricked into thinking some mindless idiot who needs vindication at the local Starbucks is smarter than they really are. They are simply caught up in the social glamour of this President and wish to be seen with the “in crowd”. These folks are the sheep who would have voted for Obama in spite of the glaring truth. And don’t be fooled by those who would have you “mold” your belief system to accommodate that which you know in your heart to be wrong. And don’t compromise your principles on the premise that somehow, we may be able to spend our way out of this fiscal calamity. It will not happen. Oh, and don’t be tricked into thinking the revolting pictures you saw on the news of the “Occupy” crowd were somehow doctored by the “evil Tea-Party”. No my friends, this is simple socio-economics 101, and the balance of electoral strength now favors the takers.

Now go and read your history books to see how this always turns out…

Election 2012…

Let me begin my (2012 Election) analysis with a couple of questions for my fellow Rhode Islanders. What does it say about the state of the electorate in our beloved Little Rhody, when voters return a man like David Cicilline to Congress for a second term? Moreover, what does it say to men like Brendan Doherty, who give so much of themselves to make a difference, when they are turned back by someone so disingenuous and morally bankrupt as Congressman Cicilline? I would truly like to know…

Ok, America voted yesterday. The majority of those votes were cast for national debt, budget deficits and entitlements. They were cast for free phones, food stamps and welfare checks. They were cast for higher taxes and lower take home pay, for small business crushing regulations and skyrocketing healthcare costs. They were cast for the “new modern family” where human life is no longer precious, and accountability is viewed as “extreme”. They were cast against religion and for racism and class warfare, and for a diminished America in the eyes of the rest of the world. And they were cast, in many ways, by a majority of folks who’ve lost sight of the exceptionalism and prosperity that freedom and self-reliance brings.

This was a pivotal election as I knew it would be. It also ended pretty much as I feared it would. And yes, it did tell us much about the “condition” of our nation, in terms of how many people have elected to blame away their failures and laziness. As I said, I didn’t stay up late as I was pretty certain of the outcome, but after listening to excerpts from the President’s acceptance speech this morning, I was struck by how much it sounded like one of Mitt Romney’s campaign speeches. Regrettably, I believe Mr. Obama’s extreme ideological beliefs will stifle much of that bluster long before it ever becomes meaningful legislation.

For my part I will take a bit of a respite from my political writing and ponder my own future for the next four years. There will be “change”. That you can be sure of. Much of that change however, will be a very difficult and even painful pill for the American people to swallow. That too, you can be sure of…

My prediction???

I have been asked over and over to predict the outcome of Tuesday’s Presidential Election. Some of my political foes have tried desperately to engage me along these lines, so they might enjoy some post-election “I told ya so” benefit if the President is re-elected. Not interested…

The problem for me is I know this election is less about the candidates than about our country, and our children’s country in an even broader sense. After the most divisive and bitter campaign in U.S. history, I think we can all agree we’ve reached a crossroads in America. The direction we take will determine whether we keep the promise of our forefathers, one of rewards for hard work and individual achievement, or go the way of dependency and collectivism, carefully packaged in such a way as to “suggest” fairness while embracing the rhetoric of class warfare.

With that thought in mind, I will not bore you with another diatribe centered on the differences between President Obama and Governor Romney specifically, mainly because I’ve come to the conclusion they mean very little. Far too many on the Left will go to the polls next week and vote against the hard reality of economic calamity for the sake of a purely partisan victory, and it is unlikely anything would change their minds. No, this is more about a fight to one side, and history to the other.

All I have ever asked is for Liberal/Progressives to admit that our Founder’s United States is not a nation they support. I can respect a truthful advisory. But as most “Left Wingers” continue to disguise their contempt for the God-given and unalienable rights which have provided for their freedom of speech, I can only reiterate my own positions for the sake of debate.

It is simply impossible to espouse entitlement without means to support it, and sound off like a champion of the “American Dream” at the same time. Nowhere in that dream were there any handouts without responsibility, or aid without accountability. And the words which gave “birth” to it all, included the guarantee of (life) as well as “Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”. Moreover, the denial of faith in favor of “truth” managed by a vain humanity, has shown us beyond doubt that our current course is a perilous one, fraught with the pitfalls of fractured families and a compromised moral foundation.

In the end, we must answer a couple of very basic questions in the voting booth on Tuesday. Firstly, how much of our grandfathers country are we willing to generationally steal from our children, because he is not here to tell us we are selfish jackasses? And second, how far is beyond the point of no return for America?

Come on people, you know the score. Is this the direction you want for your children? Are you okay with the nearly $60,000.00 in debt born to every child in the United States today? Are you comfortable with someone else’s private lifestyle being thrust upon you in a state of forced acceptance in order to somehow legitimize the personal behavior of others, all in the name of perceived equality? And will you stand by while someone tells you your country is not and should not be exceptional, rather than defend the greatness of a body politic which fought against all odds and changed the world for the better?

No my friends, this election is not about Obama or Romney, it’s about you! For this reason I will not make a prediction, but rather an observation. The United States of America has either lost or forfeited its soul. A soul, brave men and women have died to protect. On November 6th 2012, it will be up to you to find, recover or discard that soul. But I will predict this, we will  not have long to wait before we see the results of any wrong decision on the part of the electorate. Sadly though, “the new norm” may already have chosen for us… See you all on the other side…

Crisis “Standard”…

I’m actually not sure how to read Mayor Bloomberg’s rebuff of President Obama’s request to tour the city. Frankly, I remain skeptical of any of the Mayor’s intentions or sensibilities. Nonetheless, it does make sense because initial damage reports are still coming in and folks are basically stunned at this point. Taxing already strained resources to secure a Presidential overture is not something which should be high on the priority list.

The question of November 6th is inevitable however, and both candidates must walk a fine line as they return to the last few days of a very bitter and divisive campaign. It is noteworthy that at a time when there has been so much talk about what divides us, the President must somehow bring the country back to its most basic of principles, “united we stand”. On the other side, Governor Romney must bite his tongue as he watches a President who has trumpeted so loudly, the differences between Americans, now attempt to morph into a champion of all the people.

I have watched Barack Obama talk out of both sides of his mouth from the day he was sworn in. I have listened intently as he spoke of working together, but then took the most partisan policy line of any President in U.S. history. And I waited patiently for the “hope and change” promised, but received only the rhetoric of redistribution and American arrogance.

So please forgive me as I hold out little hope the Presidents talk of decisive action during time of crisis will receive much praise other than for the opportunistic and tailored photo-op. For as we watched the POTUS make his stand in the situation room during Sandy’s wrath, some of us were left to wonder why we did not see the same pictures when Americans were under fire in Libya. Where was this decisive leadership while our diplomats were dying?

God please bless all those affected by this devastating natural disaster named Sandy. But as for the President, I think he is full of it…

“Sandy”…

I think Governor Christie got it right in his not so subtle way when asked about politics and “Sandy”, though I’m always a bit concerned when the portly Governor gets too excited. Frankly, I’m concerned he might stroke out. I love Christie, but damn he’s got to drop some weight…

Nonetheless, I think both presidential candidates did the right thing, Romney in storm relief mode, and the President doing his job. To be sure, Sandy has affected many lives, and the last thing on the minds of those in her path is who will be President Elect next Wednesday. I’m sure this may change over the next few days, but for the moment our focus as a nation should be on helping the many who are in need. Please contact the Red Cross and donate what you can so that process can continue unabated. And take a knee tonight to pray for all who have been touched by this monster, as well as all the first responders and utility folks who have the ball now. God bless… http://www.redcross.org/charitable-donations
