Reliving a nightmare…
I think it’s fair to say, if you asked those who survived the Fort Hood massacre to describe that event, “war zone” would come to their collective thought. The location alone serves to remind us our soldiers face military threats here at home as well as abroad. Some were in uniform that day and some in civilian clothes preparing for oversees action, but all nonetheless engaged in activities related to the defense of our nation and the “war on terror”. So when the shooter, Major Nidal Malik Hasan screamed “allahu-akbar” and began indiscriminately shooting people in a processing center, there could be no doubt that the war had come home to Fort Hood.
So why then does our President deny “Purple Heart” combat medals to those involved opting instead to address the “incident” in the “broader scope of work place violence“???? Huh?????
Could it be because an admission of military foundation could jeopardize AG Holders ongoing attempts to locally criminalize enemy combatant (terrorist) related issues. This matter alone speaks volumes to the inexperience and/or lack of real understanding of DOD matters exhibited by this Administration. From the complacency on behalf of the military afforded Hasan for fear of being labeled politically incorrect, to the propensity of the Obama Administration overall to de-militarize what is clearly military in nature, one has to wonder who have we entrusted our children’s safety too.
So when I hear folks talking about the President’s foreign policy prowess, I think of things like this and wonder, does the carrying out of an order by the previous CIC, and a few on target drone strikes a foreign policy President make? I’m not so sure…

D-Day 6-6-44…
Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon a great crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty loving people everywhere march with you. Burning Bridges…
Admittedly, I have been a bit pre-occupied with our crumbling economic situation and what our elected leaders must to do to stop the bleeding. However, I heard something on the news this morning that caught my ear with regard to the qualifications of our President during these difficult times. As I’ve said from the beginning of this trip down the “Utopian Yellow Brick Road”, this Administration simply appears to be out of their league and experimenting when they should be leading.
It now seems that in the absence of any discernible record of progress here at home, the POTUS and his re-election team have opted to paint the picture of a tough President on foreign policy. From the credit hogging of the bin-Laden adventure, to the terrorist “kill list” President Obama allegedly keeps on his desk, to the incessant leaking of classified intelligence/information regarding things like the computer virus that nearly crippled the Iranian nuclear program, and finally the outing and then abandoning of the doctor who gave us bin- Laden on a platter, it appears the Obama WH has no problem breaking every covert rule in the book as a means to secure their political future. The problem comes moving forward as we face the world having lost every ounce of credibility that once emboldened a potential freedom fighter to our cause, as these “operators” will now view the POTUS as a disingenuous and self-serving bureaucrat. Note: (Our days as that beacon of freedom and justice to the world are fading along with the President’s credibility).
When I analyze this type of “bush-league” political ineptitude, my confidence that the “Obama Brigade” is even remotely qualified to face the enormous challenges posed by our failing economy is simply not there…
Memorial Day 2012…
When I hear pandering politicians speak about the “sacrifices” of our military I’m always a little skeptical. I look at their records and in many cases those records don’t add up to the placating of the moment. Such is the case every Memorial Day. However I will leave that out there for now and instead take the high road today. I want to focus on what is important, the men and women of The United States Military and their families who have so selflessly put the needs of a nation and her posterity ahead of their own. Sadly, many have engaged in the struggle only to return in a flag draped coffin.

I look to the photographs of the young ones who stand graveside at events that are sure to weaken the sturdiest of knees and dampen the driest of eyes. For you know, despite their age and the difficulty of conveying such adult matters to a child, that lost parent had explained to them the nature of the business and what might be expected. It is assumed therefore, that incredible feeling of sadness and loss will somehow always have a different meaning for that child. Sacrifice and honor are words they will hear and utter time and again when they consider that very special person in their lives.
Still, I am left with a nagging feeling when I see one of those pictures. I guess it’s because I interact and with so many people on so many levels every day. I wonder if (some) Americans will ever truly understand what “ultimate sacrifice” means or what it represents to all of us. Sadly, that understanding can only come by way of education, historical education. Not the ideological kind that highlights only America’s faults and failings, but rather that which recognizes the indisputable influence of a young nation having changed the world for the better and given up so much of her own blood to do so. And also the kind of historical perspective that acknowledges first and foremost how those lost souls saw their participation as part of the greater good and not a means to keep a tyrannical government from executing their families back home. These are things political leaders and teachers in our schools should be putting in context for young people every time they have an opportunity, reminding them of the blessing that is their country. Regrettably, thankfulness and appreciation for the efforts of those who have gone to guarantee that blessing, have been replaced by learned selfishness and entitlement rooted in some perceived and convoluted “fairness doctrine”.
Personally, I look at every Memorial Day and think of some of my friends who have made that “sacrifice” and I remember their motives. I think of my late father and of my nephew who understood freedom and what might be necessary to preserve it, and they went anyway. And then I listen to those fools trying to re-write that which does not suit their ideological frame-work, as well as the next generation whom they’ve robbed of the truth and wisdom needed to properly defend freedom, and I wonder if the soldier under that flag has died for nothing.
Reconciliation comes when I realize they died for an ideal and a principle. Ironically, it’s not necessarily the country they were defending, but rather what it represents to the rest of the world. So I say to that child who stands graveside in the face of unimaginable sorrow and loss, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are in my thoughts and prayers and those of my family every day of our lives. Your dad or mom died defending the greatest gift ever bestowed upon human kind by a loving God, freedom. May that thought give you some measure of comfort all of your days…
Please take a knee today and think about where you live. Put aside your political persuasion for just a moment and remember that for all of its little idiosyncrasies, the United States of America is and remains the greatest arrangement for mankind under God. You are limited only by what is truly in your heart. Do not begrudge your fellow citizens or take your freedom for granted and damn it, never forget those who go in your stead to defend it.

Romney – Rubio 2012!!!
Chris Wallace is the consummate journalist and asks the hard questions. Rarely is he boxed in by one of his guests. That was not the case today on FOX News Sunday when the straight forward Wallace hosted Marco Rubio (R) Florida on his program. To his credit Wallace did not mince words as the competition often does so they may elicit a particular ideological slant, but rather he sparred with Rubio on everything from gay rights to the Vice Presidential rumor mill, and the results left me little if any doubt about the answer to the VP question.
Rubio is an engaging and articulate family man and politician. He is bright beyond his years and frankly sounded more like a VP than the VP himself. He has wowed all corners of the Washington talk circuit and done his homework on foreign policy, while continuing to engage the Senate on matters concerning his constituency. He is not afraid to drive a reporter’s line of questioning and turn it in the direction “he” feels it should go, but does so with the respect and politeness of a man who has obviously been properly raised. I was impressed with his candor and grasp of the issues, particularly when Wallace pressed him on the question of the “Hispanic vote”, and whether or not Romney can win without improving his current standing in that demographic. Rubio explained that to perceive or assume the “Hispanic vote” is centralized in some way, or predisposed to a particular “carrot” or message, would be a mistake on the part of any party. He went on to remind Wallace of the diversity within that vote and how Romney has only just begun to make his case.
At the end of the interview Rubio explained, in the most impressive and understandable way I have heard yet, the case for school and service visa’s for young people who are in this country illegally through no fault of their own. He emphasized that the incomplete legislation he is considering would not be amnesty, but rather would require those same young people in college or the Armed Services, to eventually take the path to citizenship as currently outlined by federal law without exception. He made his case with the passion of a true and focused representative of the American people, not someone pandering with the intent to divide, (like maybe the POTUS?)
I’ve been considering the many VP choices Mitt Romney has for some time now, and have arrived at the following conclusion. While anyone would be an improvement over the current vernacularly challenged Joe Biden, Marco Rubio would not only be a fine choice for VP, but an extraordinary one at that. (Romney – Rubio 2012)
“Gitmo” Shenanigans…
As I watch and listen to the courtroom shenanigans coming out of Gitmo, my heart is filled with sadness for the families of those lost on 9/11. I think of the anguish they must be feeling all these years later. Not only have they had to endure delay after delay while Eric Holder argued for the “rights” of the terrorists, they must now sit and peer at monitors as these murdering bastards mock the military proceedings, and their lawyer argues for the right to wear “appropriate” clothing out of respect for the religious beliefs of the enemy combatants. What is happening over on that Godforsaken little Communist island?
“Judge Fred (Patriot64)” would offer the following as a solution:
1. Jurists – Please submit your briefs by the first of the month.
2. Miss Bormann, you will wear clothing appropriate for a military tribunal without deviation, end of discussion.
3. Both sides will have 1 – day long evidentiary session to present their case.
4. A verdict will follow within 24 hours, with sentencing and “punishment” to be carried out at sunrise the following morning. (No appeals), and relatives will be afforded the right to view the proceedings as well as take part if they are so inclined. (Please submit written requests for participation by tomorrow.)
5. I will make a formal statement apologizing to the victims’ families for the delay of justice, prior to the punishment phase.
6. And finally, Gitmo will be thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and serve as a staging area for the construction of a resort hotel and beach front, to be utilized by the “Wounded Warrior Foundation” as a treatment and rehabilitation center, free of charge, for all who have sacrificed on behalf of their country.

Punch Line…
President Obama kicked off his campaign on familiar ground today, a university campus. His strategists are certainly advising him well to seek safe haven among the young, inexperienced and easily manipulated sheep who flocked to his 2008 adventure. Help from Moderates will be much harder to garner this time around however. Many who may still be inclined to voice their support for the President in a Starbucks Wi-Fi Hot Spot, are far less likely to shade in the line next to his name behind a voting booth curtain in November.
Make no mistake though, the Progressive Left will be at the Polls in force to cast their votes for the man who brought their Socialist causes to the mainstream under the disguise of “hope and change”. But for those who saw Mr. Obama’s election as vindication of their 1960’s feel good ideology, and who are now finding it difficult to reconcile Utopia against the reality of mortgages, retirement, healthcare and the price of gas, “hope and change” has been relegated to the trash heap of history like so many campaign punch lines of old.
The mantra today was, “we have come too far to turn back now“. Well Mr. President, with all due respect, turning back now is our only “hope”…

“Air War”…
I would remind Sheppard Smith of FOX News that it was the POTUS himself who launched the ad suggesting Mitt Romney would not have seized the opportunity (provided him by his predecessor) to take out OBL. It was the President’s campaign team which manipulated and took Romney’s words completely out of context, and used them as the first salvo in a campaign that is likely to see a far more dramatic and nasty “air war”. “To be clear”, Romney himself seemed almost disgusted that this non-issue has even been raised.
I just love it when Libs lament against the politicization of certain events, when in fact it is they who fire the first shot most of time…
For Patriots Only???
Never in our nation’s history have the numbers been so glaringly obvious and the consequences of inaction so dire. All across the United States, cities, towns and even entire state governments are enduring the result of generations of fiscal irresponsibility on the part of some whom we’ve elected to speak for us in government. The power of an organized minority, emboldened by a blatantly hypocritical and complicit “main stream” media, and combined with a hard-working but long complacent majority, have set in motion events which our enemies could not ever have hoped to achieve militarily. As we watch our indebtedness grow beyond our ability to grasp the real figures, our children’s future and any hope for a better America we may leave them, now seem truly unrealistic at best. So I turn to Wisconsin and wonder, would it not be better if the recall elections achieve their desired result? In fact I wonder, would it not be better for this to be the case nationwide so Americans might realize once and for all the true magnitude of our plight? Are we too big to fail?
I am convinced of one thing this Spring, and that is America’s superpower clock is ticking. This November we face the fork in the road I have written about countless times. Do we bear “Left” and abandon a belief system that has set us apart for the better, thus relegating this great nation to an inevitable ash heap of European Socialist doctrine? Or do we bear “Right” and fix only what’s broken so we may begin down what is certain to be a long road back to our posterity’s American dream? The choice is much simpler than many on both sides would have you believe.
One road is easy and its grievous consequences supported by historical fact. The other road is much more difficult, but comes with freedom and peace of mind. Peace in the notion that your children’s future is in their hands and not those of an unseen and uncaring bureaucrat whose only desires our fortune and power/control. I hate to sound lofty and rhetorical, but I cannot listen to another political hack purposely muddy the waters to confuse the voter. “The argument” is most certainly part of the process of Democracy, and an important part at that. But we who engage in the discourse have a duty to be truthful not just in our factual reporting, but in our intent as well.
You see, a Liberal friend once commented to me that he felt unwelcome by the description of this blog, (For Patriots Only). I explained to him that he needn’t feel slighted because I knew of his love for his country, and that makes him a “Patriot” regardless of his political leanings. On the other hand, I feel strongly that some on the Left are hiding behind a Constitution they mean to dissolve or remove as a roadblock to their utopian dream land, and they are my political enemies. Mind you I still support their right to free speech, however I would prefer they be intellectually honest about their true intentions. The only prerequisite I have for “the argument”, is the acceptance of the fact that this nation while not perfect, provides a platform of human freedom unlike any in the world, and that platform has its roots in two documents written to ensure future generations never forget it.
So as I often do, I’m using one issue to broach another. After the Republican Primary, it will be up to voters in Wisconsin to make a choice similar to that which all Americans will consider in November. How far from the Framers intent, an ideal fostered in the mindset of personal freedom and responsibility as the road to individual success, do we wish to go? In the end, history tells us that if we choose the easy road, it is never easy for very long…
