Lessons for Lefties…

Bob Woodward

Bob Woodward

This dust-up between poor “Watergate Bob Woodward” and the White House over sequestration tells the story of what happens when you fall out of grace with the Left Wing Machine. Astonishingly, it appears the lap-dog Obama media have also thrown (one of their own) over the side.

I have said many times that this President and his college sycophants play fast and loose with a Constitution they don’t respect. From the very beginning, President Obama made no secret of the fact he intended to get his way regardless of any “Congressional oversight”. But when I heard Lou Dobbs speaking with Megyn Kelly recently on “Happening Now”, it really kinda hit home. Dobbs was incensed at the lack of outrage over the Administration’s side stepping of Congress and the “work” for benefits clause in the Clinton Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. He pointed out the President has no authority to pick and choose what laws he will abide by. Dobbs commented further on how “patient” Congress has been in similar situations, when the POTUS basically imposed his will at the expense of separation of powers and/or the appearance of any co-equal function of government in Washington.

I think when you look at the last five years in totality, and then listen to the well documented comments made by Mr. Obama and his over-educated but inexperienced side-kicks, you will find they have little regard for a process which empowers “We the People” first. Moreover, it appears they mean to bully and intimidate anyone in their way, including past collaborators.

True Intent…

Feinstein thinks these folks buy their guns at gun stores.

Feinstein thinks these folks buy their guns at gun stores.

It’s always noteworthy how the wacko Left is so fixated on antagonizing law abiding gun owners instead of pursuing and prosecuting criminals. Truly they are more frightened of an empowered free citizen than some parolee “gang-banger”. Well, that is until that gang-banger shows up in their living room demanding cash and their daughter, and then they start wishing they had their own equalizer.

The idea that Maine’s Governor LePage must now seek an emergency injunction to stop a local news rags attempt to snag personal data on legitimate “carry permit” holders, should be sufficient evidence to any reasonable observer of the Left’s true intent. This fight has not and will never be about crime, but rather it remains an ideological struggle with law-abiding gun owners in one corner and Constitutionally challenged, political opportunists in the other.

The good news is that with every passing day the “gun-grabbers” argument grows more and more strained under the weight of fact and reason, and the Presidents assertions that gun owners “are siding with him” falters against the scrutiny of truth and context.

It appears all of our crises of late are bringing the U.S. closer to a national epiphany certain to set us back on freedoms course, or at least I hope so…

For fear of “We the People”…

linton-3fa8c769e38236131da808da9e567a363b112186-s6-c10I was interested to read some of the comments made by those who attended the (anti- NRA rally), which is what it was, in Washington this past week. Consequently, it’s pretty clear many folks are just uninformed when it comes to our Constitution and the Amendments to it. When you take this in context with other historical challenges to the next generation, it isn’t hard to see why we’re in this mess.

Now there’s plenty of blame to go around, from the revisionists who’ve infiltrated our public schools, to the political opportunists content to look the other way when misinformation facilitates their own selfish endeavor. We may even look in our own homes where some parents fail to set the record straight. Nevertheless, I’m going to take one more crack at the Second Amendment for those who still don’t get it.

Putting aside the numbers, because we understand the real numbers collected by our own government don’t support the argument for “gun control”, and even forgoing the “Lame Stream Media’s” ratings driven sensationalism, as well as their unabashed “solidarity” with 44, you must understand, the Second Amendment has nothing to do with hunting!

If I hear one more brain surgeon talking about “not wanting to take away my hunting rifle”, I’m gonna scream. For the record, the Amendment was debated and added on the premise that an armed “We———the People”, as the POTUS puts it, could not only protect ourselves from would be assailants, but that one of those assailants might just be a renegade government. As difficult as it may be for some to accept, the intent was to ensure “the people” never be deprived of the ability to take up arms and reconstitute, and/or even replace their government, thus the true power would always rest with “the people”. This right is truly unique among nations.

Now understanding of the Second Amendment doesn’t make me a radical who supports armed rebellion, but rather it makes you an idiot for not doing your homework and realizing why our Constitution is such an important document. Or is it something else? Maybe, just maybe, the true intent of the Amendment is what Liberal Progressives fear most, and they seek to destroy it by exploiting grievous tragedy and misrepresenting the facts as they do. Hmmm…

1-20-13, The Inauguration of Apathy…

Inaugural_platform-001_s640x427Whether you agree with him or not, Barack Obama will be sworn in as President of The United States for a second term. The backdrop of this inauguration however, will be one of uncertainty and disillusionment to be sure.

We are living in a time of choices like we have never faced, and they are not necessarily ideological choices. Nevertheless, most Americans must now decide whether they will recognize and accept the factual evidence of our national “situation”, or whether they will choose to ignore that evidence, blame someone or something else, and hope the “situation” will correct itself. Here are some undeniable truths to consider though, if you have the intestinal fortitude…

Our overall economy has already morphed into an over-extended and dormant entity on life support, chugging along at what would normally be considered a pathetic pace. Stocks are up though they are critically overvalued paper, and lack the raw capital which once calmed a long term investor. Unemployment remains under-reported and elevated because of uncertainty over the rising costs associated with owning and running a business. Ideological taxes and benefit burdens threaten to blow up middle America, with a recent report from a former GAO Chief predicting Obamacare may very well collapse the entire economy. (Note: Most credible analysts who aren’t drinking the Obama Kool-Aid support that prediction.) And as a nation, we spend nearly twice what we take in, with our debt now growing beyond our realistic ability to pay it off of our great-grandchildren’s backs.

In full view of all of these facts many have simply chosen to dig in their partisan heals and spit into the proverbial fan. Politicians for life on both sides of the aisle have put us on a collision course with financial Armageddon, and there seems little “We the People” are prepared to do about it. Moreover, Chief Justice John Roberts will swear in a President tomorrow, who lacks both the life experience and historical grasp to lead us back onto the right avenue, a demagogue, drunk on perceived adoration, and who is content see this college experiment through to it’s inevitable conclusion, even if it means the United States emerges but a shell of its former glory.

Now some will call me a racist for my conclusions. Still others will call (me) the partisan, and I will undoubtedly argue against this foolishness to the bitter end. That said, what we are facing here is a mathematical certainty with unimaginable consequences, which can no longer be denied or framed as just some radical doomsday prediction. The hard numbers are now in plain sight. Make no mistake, I too am stunned at how quickly this country was lulled into a catatonic 1960’s mentality, unable to see reality or reason, blinded by rhetoric, and selfishly willing to deny their posterity.

So as I watch and listen to President Obama take the oath of office once more, and I hear him swear to uphold the Constitution of this nation once again, and then I listen some more as he will undoubtedly rehash much of the old “Hope and Change” diatribe, I will be considering my sons and our children’s America. Regrettably, my conclusions will be the same as they were in 2008. The President is not the problem. We are…

Fact and reason only please…

foxandfriendssat007I always cut radio and television folks a little slack, as I understand the ratings component. That said, I caught a bit of John DePetro’s broadcast on 630 WPRO AM this past Friday, when he seemed to belittle callers for their notions about the Second Amendment. During the segment he attempted to define the use of firearms in the case of a government ordered forfeiture. In doing so he was pitting firearms proponents against the Rhode Island National Guard in a fictitious battle, and asking if they would fight our volunteer army in defense of their guns, a foolish and cheap assertion at best. Now it is understood that not everyone is a Constitutional scholar, but let me see if I can help you understand what your callers were trying to say as you ridiculed them on the air, Mr. DePetro.

The simple truth is that the Second Amendment does in fact have a very specific meaning, one which politicians and gun control advocates don’t like discussing. It doesn’t suggest war with our Armed Forces, but it does speak to a populace left defenseless against an unbridled government, one which has forgotten its oath and origin, and which has moved away from the Liberty for which it was formed. This nation is unique in that posture John, and dare I say, its free citizens understand some of the collateral negatives associated with the misuse of firearms by those of an evil design.

We are all mournful to the horrors of Newtown, and we are all searching for answers. However, fact and reason must rule the day if those answers are to be realized. The idea of “safety” is not related to the Second Amendment as written. In fact the violence which occurs during a mass shooting is symptomatic of much broader and complicated social manifestations, which our elected officials do not wish to be scrutinized for.

Understand something Sir, history dictates that oppression and genocide in the 20th Century were always preceded by the subjugation of the masses, very often by removing the means by which the masses might prevent that subjugation. To think that it will never happen here, is to be, well, naïve.

No one is suggesting armed confrontation with our brave men and women in uniform. But purposely misrepresenting a Constitutional Amendment for the sake of generating controversy, speaks volumes for our declining recognition and respect for the document, and just makes you part of the problem.

Foregone conclusions…

A horrible and sickening event occurred in Newtown Connecticut this past December. A deranged person shot and killed innocent women and children at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. Consequently, there is little doubt the shock and despair associated with that incident will be with the families of the lost, as well as the nation for some time to come. Regrettably however, and in the time since that fateful day, it has become increasingly clear that the President of The United States, riding some perceived political mandate, will attempt to exploit the lost lives of Newtown in order to advance the ideological issue of gun control.

BidenI do not say this lightly, and indeed I was willing to give the father of two young daughters the benefit of the doubt in the days immediately following the murders. Having said that, Vice President Joe Biden dropped the inevitable political bombshell today, as the newly formed “gun control task force” was meeting in Washington. Simply put, and to no one’s surprise who has been watching this Administration with any objectivity, Biden hinted Mr. Obama might in fact bypass Congress and invoke “executive privilege” to initiate gun control measures. I’m sorry folks, but this abuse of power is unnecessary and unwarranted based on the facts and common-sense. However it does give us great insight into the foregone conclusions drawn of this masquerade run by the VP. There will be no real consideration of the evidence, only a rigged outcome born of a baseless, ideological and un-Constitutional Left Wing agenda, ever-poised to strike with crisis afoot..

Make no mistake, the Newtown tragedy must serve as a catalyst for change, but not the change the President and his Left Wing buddies desire. Sandy Hook should remind us that in any free society there will be evil which must be addressed. Not with the stroke of a pen, or the politically motivated band-aid solution of a self-aggrandizing politician, but rather by way of education, community, prayer, and a fact-based common-sense approach which provides security while preserving liberty. That is the American way, and the best way to honor the memories of those little angels and their teachers.

A time for serious people…

Providence City Council Majority Leader Seth Yurdin

Providence City Council Majority Leader Seth Yurdin

Listening to Providence City Council Majority Leader Seth Yurdin yesterday, reminded me that freedom has no enemy like ignorance, willful or otherwise. As many cities and towns now rush to initiate their own responses to the Sandy Hook tragedy, it is increasingly clear that politics will be at the forefront, with fact and reason struggling to keep up. I would only ask Mr. Yurdin what his thoughts are concerning gang violence (as well as many other types of violence) in our capital city, and also what he thinks are the root causes of much of that violence. I’m very sure he would migrate directly back to the question of firearms, and completely ignore the fundamental and obvious issues of broken families, poverty, unemployment, education, drugs and host of other factors which ultimately drive that violence. Accordingly, and in the absence of any recognizable moral code or self-discipline, Yurdin will exploit the Newton nightmare to its fullest potential, and take the political train as far down the track as possible, extracting as much opportunistic face time as he can along the way. I would simply ask those voting in the affirmative on the recent gun control resolution, to get off their irresponsible behinds, get the facts, and then get out into their communities to do the business of the people. Enough with the self-promoting band aid politics! Disgraceful…

A high-jacked Democrat Party…

I was going to do another story on averting “sequestration”, however it appears our elected officials have now successfully kicked the “fiscal cliff” down the road yet again. Thanks folks, I’ll try and explain it to my son when he is older… What a sick joke…

imagesMoving along, I will do my best to avoid the nausea associated with the contempt I know these Washington elitists have for us, and go to another hot button topic, “gun control”. It seems there is a letter circulating from a retired Marine Corporal in which he takes issue with Senator Feinstein’s gun control initiatives. Now I will not bore you again with my opinions of Feinstein, they are well known. Instead I am including the text of the letter so you may judge for yourself. I will then offer a “rebuttal” of sorts, as offered by Des-Moines Register Reporter Donald Kaul.

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston
Cpl, United States Marine Corps
2004-2012

In contrast, and as evidence of the extraordinary and subversive intent of those who mean to circumvent our nation’s Constitution, I would like to add the comments of Des-Moines Register Reporter Donald Kaul. It seems Mr. Kaul does not have much love for the NRA, or for that matter, certain members of Congress. He calls for the burning and then leveling of the NRA Headquarters in Virginia, as well as the torture of House Speaker Boehner and Senate Minority Leader McConnell. Now I’m not sure, but as former law enforcement officer, prison guard and now crime prevention officer, that sounds a lot like threats of arson, and of assault against an elected official. So, in the absence of any reasonable or cognitive argument on the part of this “evil” nut job, I would encourage the Des-Moines Police Department, the FBI, BATFE and the Secret Service, to waste no time in investigating these statements and this person.

This is what I mean when I ask that you only listen to the voice of the Left in matters of Constitutional worth. These are the true and dangerous radicals who have hijacked the Democratic Party. Of course you probably won’t read or hear about this story outside of the FOX Network or talk radio, as the “main stream” press is completely and totally of the same mind and concept as Mr. Kaul. Having said that, and as far as I’m concerned, Mr. Kaul is clearly “the” person who should be on every cops radar, and is a great example of a potentially violent offender “red flag” case.

The face of the opposition, Donald Kaul, in his own words.

• Repeal the Second Amendment, the part about guns anyway. It’s badly written, confusing and more trouble than it’s worth. It offers an absolute right to gun ownership, but it puts it in the context of the need for a “well-regulated militia.” We don’t make our militia bring their own guns to battles. And surely the Founders couldn’t have envisioned weapons like those used in the Newtown shooting when they guaranteed gun rights. Owning a gun should be a privilege, not a right.

• Declare the NRA a terrorist organization and make membership illegal. Hey! We did it to the Communist Party, and the NRA has led to the deaths of more of us than American Commies ever did. (I would also raze the organization’s headquarters, clear the rubble and salt the earth, but that’s optional.) Make ownership of unlicensed assault rifles a felony. If some people refused to give up their guns, that “prying the guns from their cold, dead hands” thing works for me.

Then I would tie Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, our esteemed Republican leaders, to the back of a Chevy pickup truck and drag them around a parking lot until they saw the light on gun control.

Well there you have it. I would ask the President and all those who claim they desire a “legitimate and productive conversation” about keeping our kids safe from gun violence, “did you mean with this foolish idiot, Sir???”

Honor them…

I suppose that in the age of the 24 hour news cycle we should expect nothing less than bell to bell coverage of the unimaginable tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. Consequently, we should also expect agenda driven politicians and uniformed ideologues to exploit that tragedy for political and/or ideological gain. I recently posted on Facebook that I was trying desperately not to engage out of respect for the lost and their grieving families, and in spite of the enormous amount of misinformation being spewed by the anti-gun crowd. Unfortunately, it is now painfully obvious this may not be possible. The deaths of these young children and those who sought to protect them at the Sandy Hook Elementary School must not simply be the catalyst for change of the wrong kind, promoted by those of the wrong intent.

Make no mistake, the loss of these innocents by the hand of evil, manifested in the form of a person with mental illness, begs a discussion of a higher sort with the aim of protecting our most valuable resource on planet earth, our children. Having said that, the critical task at hand will require level headed and truthful participants with no ulterior motives, and whose intentions are laser focused on the above and nothing else. So let’s look at what is being put out there at present, both on the political as well as the media fronts.

For starters, it is clear the President will charge ahead with what he ignored in his first term because it was politically dangerous. On its face this should tell you much about Mr. Obama’s political intentions. I would add however, the suggestion his emotion is not genuine is simply ridiculous. The POTUS has two school age daughters and I’m quite sure he has been rattled by the events of 12/14. No, this is an ideological battle not a personal one, at least in terms of any solution going forward.

Notwithstanding personal attacks by either side, President Obama named his VP Joe Biden as the point man for a committee to make recommendations, citing Biden’s input on the Clinton era assault weapons ban. I’m sorry, would that be the ban which had “zero” impact on violent crime, as vetted by every credible reporting agency including the CDC, which conducted no less than 50 inquiries desperately searching for evidence to support the ban but found none? Oh, and Attorney General Eric Holder will be sought out for his input and has already recommended a stronger BATFE. I’m sorry, would that be the Attorney General and BATFE embroiled in the “Fast and Furious” gun running scandal which resulted in the deaths of over nine hundred Mexican civilians and two border agents?

When you add in Dick Durbin and Dianne Feinstein, two of the most partisan and uniformed politicians on the matter of gun control, it is easy to come to the conclusion that the “discussion” on how to make our children safer will be dominated by politics and misinformation. Moreover, the statistical data continues to show that so-called “assault weapons” account for just 1/5 of one percent of all violent crime, with 1/7 of all guns in circulation in the U.S. being “assault weapons”, just the tip of the iceberg in terms of the “numbers within the numbers” which clearly show the futility of additional gun control. (Note here, one only need look to the states with the highest violent crime rates to find the most draconian gun laws).

Look, this debate is just getting started. And while I continue to believe it is incumbent upon us to focus our efforts on supporting the families in their time of sorrow and loss, we must also guard against feel good applications which always results in the erosion of freedom, while doing nothing to address the issue of violence in our nation. Turning a blind eye to the root causes and societal factors which are at the heart of our “national condition”, is akin to doing nothing at all in the face of this unholy nightmare. As a father, I am with whoever truly endeavors in the name of the victims and the Newtown community, honestly and with the same motivations. As a patriot, I must also endeavor to preserve and protect my son’s liberty from those who would manipulate it by way of false and ideological rhetoric, intended only for political gain and offered not as substantive and genuine solutions. I feel the two approaches are inexorably linked. In the name of those lost, let the truth, the facts and a genuine desire to keep our children safe, be the catalyst for real “change for the better”…
