PAV – Political Assault Vehicle…
I am simply not going to jump on the (political rapid assault vehicle) and mindlessly ridicule the POTUS based on this latest and very sobering jobs report. Frankly the two political parties are wrapped so tight these days I think blood vessels are going to begin popping soon. I will however state the facts and appeal to President Obama’s common sense to accept that his approach is simply not working . You see, we can argue indefinitely about whose fault it was/is. But unlike many of my Lefty counterparts, I care far less about the road traveled than I do about the road forward. They are two very different avenues (arguments).
The facts are we remain heavily burdened as a nation with unsustainable debt and our government is doing little to promote either economic growth or job creation. For the President’s part, he seems focused on using an ideological mechanism as a means to quickly and fundamentally change the way our country functions, and that approach is collapsing under the weight of its own un-workability. Moreover, the usual Liberal sycophants continue to advertise this fraud as a “recovery” when it is now plainly anything but. Previous monthly and quarterly figures revised, current numbers embarrassingly, (no dangerously) low, and predictions of a total economic breakdown are the realities we face, and I am today begging our President to put his children’s country before his failing ideological vision.
Enough time has passed and this is now beyond the blame game Sir. Your numbers do not add up. There must be a balance, a place where we can meet and put our future and those of our posterity ahead of short term political gain, (ala Bill Clinton?). Even if Paul Ryan’s budget is not the answer, there must be something in there worth negotiating. Remember that all of your own budgets have been DOA as well, and in a friendly Senate no less. Maybe there is something in those documents which can be brought back to life.
My point in all of this is, I and many around this country are becoming increasingly concerned we may run out of road soon. So concerned in fact, that this Conservative pundit has no qualms about meeting in the middle somewhere just to avoid what is still an avoidable disaster. We can fight about the logistics and particulars another day. But the truth is, there are some very simple incentive based applications which will stop the bleeding and get our country headed back in the right direction. Ironically, most of our representatives know and understand what these applications look like because they have been tried and have worked in the past.
The whole world is watching and waiting to see which way America goes and I have to tell you, one misstep in this ever-growing economic minefield, and this chalice of success through freedom may not pass to the next generation.
National Day of Prayer…
This is something I wrote for a local Christian newspaper last year, “The Good News Today”. I have the link in the side bar. It’s a great paper. Support them if you can.
In 1808 Thomas Jefferson spoke of the danger of affixing federal approval to a national day of prayer. But as I always say, you must put things in context and read a great deal more of Jefferson’s writings to understand he feared only the federal government eventually dictating where, when and how we would pray. This was Jefferson’s way with all things as they related to the federal government and the power granted it by the Constitution. President Lincoln sought divine guidance and healing in a time when we fought against ourselves in the bloodiest of all of our wars. He knew that in times of great peril we must look to a power greater than that of mortal man. President Roosevelt said on “D-Day”, Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity. President Reagan I believe said it best though, “On our National Day of Prayer, we join together as people of many faiths to petition God to show us His mercy and His love, to heal our weariness and uphold our hope, that we might live ever mindful of His justice and thankful for His blessing.”
Those were just a few thoughts as we contemplate the decision of U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb declaring that a “National Day of Prayer” (NDP) is somehow unconstitutional. Now in my haste to blog about what I saw as just another attempt to rid our Country of its founding and guiding principles, admittedly, I seemed to have missed the boat as well. The idea of a NDP is far more involved than I had originally pondered. So let’s go forward and learn something together, shall we?
As I’ve written of late, you do not have to be a Biblical scholar or a theologian to understand the religious frame of mind of the Framers. Now if you have not done your historical homework in this regard, then the rest of the article will only serve to agitate you. That said, the reading of the story of this country is made even more inspiring when we witness the faith of so many of our leaders who have been tested at its helm. When we note Lincoln’s trials and how he sought Gods divine intervention through personal and political turmoil, or how FDR moved to comfort the American people in time of great national sacrifice by praying with them by the fireside, or how the prayers of the American people sustained a grieving family and nation when its leader was shot down in the streets of Dallas, our hearts are filled with a sense of closeness to our God, a closeness and security only attained through recognition of, and faith in His authority and mercy. So when we pick up the paper or turn on the television and witness the slow but steady dismantling of the foundational faith which has set us apart and supported us in times of tribulation, we are obviously angered and confused.
For me personally, being from Rhode Island and all, it is difficult to contain my frustration when I hear some local hypocrite or politician babbling about the “separation of church and state”. I simply want to climb to the highest point I can find and scream, “The Constitution don’t say that”!!! That frustration is made all the more difficult considering our well documented and historically religious background here in “The Ocean State”. But while difficult, we must gather ourselves with the facts first, and proceed with patience.
The National Day of Prayer eventually came to be over a period of about 150 years. It began with President Lincoln as he recognized a Nation on the verge of tearing itself apart, and chose to lead with a belief in God that he wrote about often. In 1863, Lincoln signed a Congressional resolution calling for a day of fasting and prayer during the Civil War that we might pray for the fighting and the fallen, and that with the Lords blessing this great Republic would not perish from the earth.
In April of 1952, both Houses of Congress took it a step further and passed a bill proclaiming that the President should select a day each year as a NDP. President Truman signed that bill into law.
In 1972, a National Prayer Committee was formed, and in 1988 public law 100-307 was signed by President Reagan declaring the first Thursday in May of every year as The National Day of Prayer. Over that time the United States has faced challenges on many levels, but none so great as the one before us today.
Shall we throw away that which has arguably made us the greatest Nation ever to exist on earth? Do we turn our backs on the value of devine providence as it relates to all that we hold dear as citizens of this free Republic? Do we condemn our children to a Godless and secular life by virtue of our ignorance and vanity? You see, this is a question as much about who we are to become as who we are today. Every decision made by someone like Judge Crabb is another revisionist assault on our children’s future. As we hear more and more from the likes of radical Christian hater Mikey Weinstein, a man truly devoid of any common decency (in this author’s opinion anyway), do we sit idly by and let these nut jobs and revisionists change the Founder’s intent with the brush of a pen or the key stroke of a laptop? Do we wake up one day in an atheist society with faith only in ourselves and the government? I submit to you that should that day ever come, you will hear the screams of regret reverberate from sea to shining sea, more than likely with crackpots like Weinstein’s being the loudest.
Every day we hear of attacks on prayer, in our schools, our businesses and in our social gathering places, all under the guise of Constitutionality, when in fact the documents authors sought only to reinforce that religion was something to be cherished and not restricted, and that their new government would ensure all could pray as they wished. Nowhere in any writing of the day do we see the famed “separation of Church and state”. This was the farthest thing from the Framers minds and they would have been disgusted at the notion. You would not know this from the writing of today however, as the secularist progressives seek to rid the world of God so they might advance the cause of a world beholden only to those things granted by mankind. I know this may sound a bit deep and prophetic for someone who lacks any formal Biblical insight, but it just seems so clear to me. The writing is on the wall if you choose to read it…
Children are allowed to wear t-shirts in our public schools depicting murderers like Che Guevara, yet they are ridiculed and forbidden to wear a t-shirt depicting a cross or the likeness of Christ. The double standard one would expect to be checked by the “establishment clause” is allowed so as not to offend the “non-Christians”. I am very sure that was not the intent of the First Amendment or any of its components. Make no mistake, what are clearly under attack here though, are our Judeo/Christian beliefs and values.
They are increasingly portrayed as extreme and un-Constitutional. In a blow near and dear to my heart, the United States Army has now withdrawn its invitation to Franklin Graham to speak at the Pentagon on the NDP because of a remark he made about Islam being evil. Now I have always been cautious not to stereotype, but I have also seen the face of the enemy, and he is most certainly proclaiming the religion of Islam in his holy war with the “infidels”, and though he may be the extremist of their faithful, I have still yet to see or hear the outrage from the Muslim community one would expect when a human beings head is sawed off for the cameras. I do not wish to get side tracked here, so I will try and stay on message, though I feel passionately that this is all linked.
Anyway, the NDP is Thursday May 6th 2010, and thankfully, there is some good news on the subject to report as well. There are still some Politicians willing to step up and be counted among the faithful. 40 or so of them, led by Texas Republican Lamar Smith gathered on Capitol Hill in Washington today to voice their support for the NDP, God Bless em’. Also very notable was the support from the CWA (Concerned Women of America), a bipartisan group whose membership feels strongly about protecting the NDP. Vice President of external relations for Focus on the Family Tim Goeglein praised those defending the NDP today as well stating, “If there was ever a time that we needed a National Day of Prayer, it is certainly now.”
With this in mind, we must turn out in the greatest numbers possible on May 6th. Using the “Tea-Party” model of action, I believe that if we are complacent and idle in the face of the “secular army”, and simply discard our religious roots and their priceless worth to our very way of life for the sake of “political correctness”, there simply won’t be a country left to fight for in the end. For as I’ve said, I believe God is watching and pondering what we do with this “best arrangement for mankind under Him” which He has blessed us with. So let’s do our homework and head out to our local rallies and make this year a referendum on the Judge Crabbs of the nation. Let’s send an unmistakable message that tells these elitists we know our history (religious and otherwise), and that we are proud of it and don’t want it to be (revised).
I think it’s time for me to give you a little local flavor on this one as well, that you might be further inspired to action. “Prayer Rhode Island” is a local project established to encourage Rhode Islanders to keep their elected officials cognizant of the importance of prayer as a means to find the wisdom to lead. Now there’s a thought… I think it’s fair to say that we here in RI have a larger “per capita” corrupt politician to population statistic than most other states. In simple terms, our political leaders need all the help they can get. While the battles on (Smith Hill) rage over how to pay for the “sins” of the past 60 years in our state, it is easy to become cynical when we hear folks at both the State and Federal level telling us we need less of God in our lives. 1 Timothy 2:1,2 “I urge then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone -for kings and all those in authority, that we may lead peaceful and quiet lives in Godliness and holiness.” NIV.

I have spent a great deal of time on the Hill arguing about this and that, and I have witnessed firsthand the callous disregard many in that building exercise when plotting “our” collective futures. It makes total sense that Jesus apparently didn’t make it through the security check on the way into the State House Rotunda. For if he had, many in that room would govern from a far different “platform”. Thankfully, there are folks like Cheryl Russell who is in her 11th year with (Prayer RI), and who escorts the Lord into the halls and labyrinth that is the RI State House twice a month to pray for and with our elected officials. (When) they stop to speak with her, she encourages them to think in terms of a holy life first, and as a foundation for any “political” calculation they may be contemplating. Cheryl feels that many of our State Representatives fear any religious overtones in their decision making process as they do not wish to be a target of the ever vindictive and selective ACLU, a political reality for our elected leaders these days. This speaks to what I have been saying about how far we have come from a State that Cheryl points out, touts the Flag of Hope aside of the U.S. Flag, and was founded by a missionary, oh and not to mention that it was the focal flash point of a cast away European culture seeking freedom from “religious” persecution.
Cheryl went on to tell me of her calling to change the hearts and minds of not only politicians, but of all people, from newlyweds to whole families. She spoke of the need for Christians and Non-Christians alike to come out of their “Prayer Closets” and reinforce the message that without God, we are simply out of the light, politically and otherwise. We talked at length about things like the Jericho Walk a couple of years back where some 200 young people walked around the State House professing their faith to all who would listen, as well as what she sees as the need for more to be personally involved in this fight.
Cheryl Russell was at a Woman’s Conference when we spoke by phone, I’m sure doing what she does best, ministering to those in need of spiritual guidance. But she concluded by telling me that the National Day of Prayer, whether it be in Washington or at the State House, is not so much a day as it is a discipline, that should be with us the year round. She feels strongly that the message of that day should be with us always, not just in our local churches, but in our homes, places of business, sporting events, schools and political gatherings. I know this has been a bit long winded and my Editor will be working overtime to try and make it all fit, but there is just so much to say on this topic. I think I can sum up though with a simple thought line. On some level most of us acknowledge God, some more than others, and I’m sure some still with a greater degree of faith. Moreover, most also acknowledge the exceptionalism and worth of this great Republic Divine Providence has given us, whether we discuss it openly or not. So in the humble opinion of this author, it only makes sense that if we wish to leave our legacy, the “hope” and dreams of our faithful forbearers, then our collective message should be loud and clear, hands off “Our National Day of Prayer”.

They cannot run from this…
I think that if you are even a little concerned about the Constitutionality of the “Affordable Care act” as it was supposedly vetted by the Obama Administration and a Nancy Pelosi controlled Congress, you must watch this video. The discussion was between Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy, and centered around the recent dust-up over the Constitutionality of an HHS Mandate requiring nearly all employers to provide contraceptives, including abortion inducing drugs, via their health care plans, to their employees regardless of any religious foundation or belief associated with a particular organization. If you take the time to listen to this in its entirety, and if you can put aside any ideological and/or preconceived notions you may have regarding religion and government and open your mind, you will see how “We the People” have been blindsided by this President and the Left in Congress.
Unfortunately, an additional consequence of this un-Constitutional nightmare will be the inevitable collapse of our economy under the crushing strain of an Obama intended “single payer system”. Please watch this video and learn what has been the truth from the very beginning of “Obamacare”…

Funny stuff…
Putting aside the Democrats actually admitted they will continue bringing the “Buffett Rule” up for a vote purely as a political ploy, I’m actually cracking up for a different reason this morning. I mean come on people, everyone with at least half a working brain knows and admits, (including the President’s own economic advisors), the proposed law would do absolutely zero to address the national debt. Even President Obama himself has said it would have little effect on the $1 Trillion + yearly budget deficit. Yikes… I guess it’s all about “fairness” and feel good politics then. Well, a lot of good that does to address the $16 Trillion + back pack our kids will take to school this Fall.
Anyway, back to my good laugh. I turned on the news today and started surfing for some particulars on Romney’s tax plan, (which I like the sound of so far BTW), and came across Bob Beckel doing his usual song and dance defending the POTUS’s economic strategy to the death. I was laughing because for every fact brought to the table, all Beckel (and most other Libs) could come up with was, “it’s not fair”… These people are simply out of wind. In the face of the worst economic recovery in U.S. history combined with unprecedented and economy crushing deficits, President Obama is attempting to patch the Hoover Dam with Spackle, and there is just no common sense defense of it…
Ultimately, the whole “Buffett Rule” thing is a cheap tool in the class warfare tool bag, and nobody uses it better than a tax and spend Liberal like the President Barack Obama.
Know your place…
When the President of the United States moves outside traditional campaign parameters and targets another branch of government as part of a broader strategy of intimidation, basically trampling the “separation of powers” fail safe which guards the peoples voice, well then I’d say all bets are off. Moreover, does Mr. Obama believe for one minute that “We the People” cannot see through the “judicial activism” assertion he made the other day when asked about the fate of “Obama-care”? This from the man who brought two of the most Liberal/Progressive jurists (Sotomayor & Kagan) he could find before the Senate for consideration and eventual confirmation by way of one of the most partisan Congress’s in American history. This President would do well to remember that he too is but an instrument of a representative government and not a king. As a so-called “Constitutional law professor” he should understand this better than most, should he not?
On the matter of the “Affordable” Care Act itself, I for one was encouraged to hear the Justices asking the questions they did of both sides. More often than not, the matter of Constitutionality is lost on the lower courts and may only be properly vetted by the Supreme Court.
Having said that, the POTUS and company “front loaded” the bill significantly, and did accomplish their goal of getting folks “on the dole” first so as to make it more difficult to roll back the law. This is a classic Liberal trick and has proven extremely effective over generations, hence our enormous and unsustainable debt. Programs already in place will be on the minds of the justices as they consider the sustainability of Obama-care with no individual mandate. Nonetheless, my feeling is that it will be overturned on the basis of its far reaching and unprecedented intrusion into the choices “We the People” make in our day to day lives. As with so much of what this ideological President has brought to the table, there is the fundamental question of big government and how much of it folks will tolerate. When it’s all said and done in November, I’m pretty sure we will have a much clearer picture of where our country is and where it is going.
For Patriots Only???
Never in our nation’s history have the numbers been so glaringly obvious and the consequences of inaction so dire. All across the United States, cities, towns and even entire state governments are enduring the result of generations of fiscal irresponsibility on the part of some whom we’ve elected to speak for us in government. The power of an organized minority, emboldened by a blatantly hypocritical and complicit “main stream” media, and combined with a hard-working but long complacent majority, have set in motion events which our enemies could not ever have hoped to achieve militarily. As we watch our indebtedness grow beyond our ability to grasp the real figures, our children’s future and any hope for a better America we may leave them, now seem truly unrealistic at best. So I turn to Wisconsin and wonder, would it not be better if the recall elections achieve their desired result? In fact I wonder, would it not be better for this to be the case nationwide so Americans might realize once and for all the true magnitude of our plight? Are we too big to fail?
I am convinced of one thing this Spring, and that is America’s superpower clock is ticking. This November we face the fork in the road I have written about countless times. Do we bear “Left” and abandon a belief system that has set us apart for the better, thus relegating this great nation to an inevitable ash heap of European Socialist doctrine? Or do we bear “Right” and fix only what’s broken so we may begin down what is certain to be a long road back to our posterity’s American dream? The choice is much simpler than many on both sides would have you believe.
One road is easy and its grievous consequences supported by historical fact. The other road is much more difficult, but comes with freedom and peace of mind. Peace in the notion that your children’s future is in their hands and not those of an unseen and uncaring bureaucrat whose only desires our fortune and power/control. I hate to sound lofty and rhetorical, but I cannot listen to another political hack purposely muddy the waters to confuse the voter. “The argument” is most certainly part of the process of Democracy, and an important part at that. But we who engage in the discourse have a duty to be truthful not just in our factual reporting, but in our intent as well.
You see, a Liberal friend once commented to me that he felt unwelcome by the description of this blog, (For Patriots Only). I explained to him that he needn’t feel slighted because I knew of his love for his country, and that makes him a “Patriot” regardless of his political leanings. On the other hand, I feel strongly that some on the Left are hiding behind a Constitution they mean to dissolve or remove as a roadblock to their utopian dream land, and they are my political enemies. Mind you I still support their right to free speech, however I would prefer they be intellectually honest about their true intentions. The only prerequisite I have for “the argument”, is the acceptance of the fact that this nation while not perfect, provides a platform of human freedom unlike any in the world, and that platform has its roots in two documents written to ensure future generations never forget it.
So as I often do, I’m using one issue to broach another. After the Republican Primary, it will be up to voters in Wisconsin to make a choice similar to that which all Americans will consider in November. How far from the Framers intent, an ideal fostered in the mindset of personal freedom and responsibility as the road to individual success, do we wish to go? In the end, history tells us that if we choose the easy road, it is never easy for very long…
High Gear…
I happened on MSNBC and the President’s re-election campaign commercial with “orator” and Obama sycophant Tom Hanks, a man who seems so ready to hail the greatness of our nation on the silver screen, yet understands little of its true history. That aside, it seems the POTUS and company will continue the mantra of “blame the other guy” and except absolutely no responsibility for our anemic national posture. So let’s have a look at those ugly facts, shall we.
I get a lot of guff from the Left attacking me for being a “FOX Fanatic”. The trouble with this analogy is that I actually get much of my economic info and such from the federal government itself. Moreover, it would be impossible for me to make the case I do without using (all) of the media outlets, to include the international folks. How else would I highlight the Left Wing Media hypocrisy? Nonetheless, I have looked at trending lines of “economy’s past” and can clearly see that the GDP growth rates and subsequent hiring markers we are seeing today are consistent with an economy that would have chugged along at the same pace had the Administration went on a three year vacation after the 08 Election and returned this week. Now say what you will about the condition of things when President Obama took office, but the numbers simply do not bear it out. None of the banks, who are being “stress tested” today, were any better off 20 years ago if we really want to look at their bottom line structure and government mandated mortgage lending practices. And the big three auto makers, despite coming about to build the best cars in the world today, were poorly managed money pits 10 years before GW took office. What I’m getting at here is that this “blame Bush game” is nothing more than a well-orchestrated (and funded) distraction, designed entirely to keep Americans from focusing on and Ideologue President who has governed true to his word to change America, and certainly not for the better.
In fairness, I will not rant on about what I believe the Presidents true agenda is. Instead, I will simply state some facts for the record and ask all of you to rate Mr. Obama with the same scale we have rated all of our Chief Executives, beginning with the question, (Are you better off today than you were three years ago?).
GDP growth – consistently revised to under 2% post 2008
Inflation index – off the charts and across the board for non-durable goods and food stuffs
Gasoline – $1.84 per gallon in 2008, $3.84 per gallon today (And it does not matter what it rose to during the Bush years!)
Unemployment at the same period during the Bush Presidency – 4.7%. Unemployment 2012 – 8.3% with over 20 million Americans unemployed or underemployed, and 2 million less jobs for the finding as well.
Americans on food stamps – 31.9 million in 2008 vs. 46.5 million today
And most importantly – Federal Deficit 2008 – $10.6 trillion, Federal Deficit 2012 – $15.6 trillion and projected to hit 20 trillion or more by 2017 (most likely more as the CBO is now projecting the “Affordable” Care Act will cost double what was promoted by the Obama Administration.
Now unlike the pundits on the other side, I will not lay all the blame on this President or any other President specifically. The road to this economic and un-Constitutional nightmare we are living was paved over many Administrations and with the help of many complicit Congress’s. With that said however, President Obama’s ideological approach to our nation’s woes is ill-timed and dangerous to say the least, and while I’d love to sit and swap books and “factoid sheets” with Libs living in an alternate universe, these numbers are real and will not just go away. They present a direct challenge to the notion that we may leave a better country to our posterity. Consequently, we need action based on sound principle and proven application, and we need it now. We need things that make sense for our free market economy in the short-term, not utopian pipe dreams dreamt and fostered in the classroom only.
So as he “kicks his campaign for re-election into high gear”, and goes on par to spend more money doing so than any incumbent President or candidate in American history, and as the Republican field are vilified by the cut throat “main stream” press for a vetting process not unlike that of Obama / Clinton in 08, Americans will be faced with a choice this Fall, stay the course and gamble our children’s future on broken promises and green algae, or elect a businessman for the times who will collect the books, read the spread sheets and not run from economic reality? That’s right, I have made my decision and I am supporting Mitt Romney for President… I hope everyone had a safe and “Happy St. Patrick’s Day”.
Unsolicited Advice… (Rhode Island Local)
As some in the “political know” may have already surmised, Anthony Gemma has decided to throw his media savvy hat into the ring for District 1 yet again. This time will be very different however in that the current occupant of that office, David Cicilline, is all but finished in Rhode Island (RI) politics. Though it still amazes me how the guy ever made it to the halls of Congress in the first place, this news is truly a game changer, and Brendan Doherty’s team had better focus like a laser beam moving forward.
Gemma is a media smart closet Progressive masquerading as a champion of business. He has plenty of ready cash and a propensity to launch devastating and well thought attack ads against his political opponents. He has a decent grasp of the issues and is an acceptable debater. Basically, he has done this before.
Doherty is the quintessential law man and a model of integrity. His nearly 3 decades in law enforcement are littered with the hides of bad guys who had it coming. His sheer size and demeanor smack of a firm and forthright handshake to be followed by the straight skinny. He is a champion for the citizens of his state. To those who know him, there could be no better soul to send to Washington.
The problem is that RI voters are a microcosm of what’s wrong with our country today. Political cronyism and targeted pandering are the inroads to the hearts of many who will head to the polls in our state this November. For this reason I see the following as my unsolicited advice to the Trooper icon and would be Congressman:
- Tell the RI voter that you are indeed “inexperienced” and that is exactly why they should vote for you. Heck, if experience has gotten us to this point, I’ll vote for a little less of that. Note: (Brendan Doherty probably has more experience dealing with people from all walks of life than the rest of the RI Congressional Delegation combined).
- Present a “basic” viewpoint and platform for only the headline issues of the day and explain that you will do what every other “rookie” on the hill does when he gets to Washington, run like crazy to catch up, but that this will happen more quickly for you because you are sincere in your reason for wanting to be there in the first place. It will also be much easier because you will most likely be part of a Republican Congress.
- Keep it simple and control the argument. Articulate in the simplest possible terms that it will not be a cardinal sin to cast a vote for a Republican running for Pat Kennedy’s old seat, and that more of “the same” is no longer a suitable way forward for our children’s sake.
- Finally, do what you do best and tell the truth about how you have absolutely no intention of supporting any legislation that cuts social security benefits for seniors, or ships every Latino back to “Mexico”, and that “right to work” does not mean chasing unions out of the state but rather allowing for simple fairness in the process.
Anthony Gemma has timed his entrance perfectly and will attempt to paint himself as an alternative to going over to the other side. Cicilline will be removed by primary as a reason to vote for Doherty and, (in the humble opinion of this pundit), the Colonels camp had better be ready for this RI “politics as usual” strategy.
What is “Acceptable”???
The U.S. created 227,000 jobs in the month of February. Once again, anytime we see job creation as opposed to job losses, it is a good thing. People are finding work and going about the business of making their way through these difficult times, and it is right that we recognize any betterment in terms of the job market. Now for some qualifying news:
Unemployment remains at 8.3% and has been above 8% for three years now. Almost 45% of those unemployed have collected benefits for longer than at any time in U.S. history. Approximately 13 million Americans are still without work and we have lost 2 million tangible and “countable” jobs since 2007. The number of jobs added is now trending down and those jobs are mainly service sector (temporary) positions and lower paying, which is never a very good sign for long-term growth. Consequently, when you hold up these numbers against a devastating foreclosure rate and skyrocketing gas prices/inflation, it’s hard to jump that “recovery” train with any real enthusiasm.
Look, I have said and will say again, do not be lulled into the “new norm” where 7.5% unemployment will somehow be viewed as “acceptable”, and $4.25 gasoline along a $6.50 box of corn flakes are our economic future. By and large this may very well be our short-term future based on inflationary trending numbers, but our actions this year will determine whether that will be $5.75 gasoline and $7.00 Cheerios moving forward.
Free market economic recovery after a down turn comes in many forms and at varying degrees of speed. It can be affected only at certain times by the policies of a representative government. That is to say there is usually a very small window for politics to have an effect on free market economics. We must also take into account that there will always be a certain amount of what I like to call “natural” recovery, that being the strength of the free market to advance in spite of every effort made by an incumbent Administration or Congress, (and which they will take credit for, you can be sure). With this in mind I submit to my readers that while it does my heart good that anyone benefits from any upswing in the economy, this particular Administration has been nothing but a hindrance to real recovery. Furthermore, until he is either removed from the WH by vote or term limit, President Barack Obama will continue to govern outside and around everything necessary to bring about that real recovery.
Lambasting Limbaugh…
Well it looks like the “main stream” media will take yet another whack at Limbaugh. And once again there will be some knee jerk reactions to that “press”. Subsequently, I will be sure and remove any and all affiliation with, or purchase from “Legal Zoom”, “Quicken Loans” and “The Sleep Train”, makers of the Sleep Number Bed. And this goes for every other entity or business so quick to bow to the whining Socialists which have infiltrated and hijacked journalism in our country.
As I have said many times, Rush is not a journalist, a fact he himself has pointed out so many times on his program. He is a radio talk show personality with an opinion based show which thrives on ratings. (Ironically, all this attention does nothing but drive his ratings even further skyward). Now I will not reiterate again how the reason for the Lefts attacks on the portly pundit are obviously rooted in their failure to present and maintain any semblance of a competitive show to best him, as well as just a simple inability to compete in the arena of ideas. Basically speaking, he cleans their clocks in the ratings markers with embarrassing regularity. Moreover, every Lib show to challenge him has failed miserably because no one is interested enough to listen, (a fact which infuriates the “Fairness Doctrine” folk’s).
In this case, rush as he so often does, was using edgy stuff to draw attention to the fact that the Dems have no problem sending out the innocent to do their dirty work for them. He was reminding his listeners of exactly the tactics the Left uses, and what they essentially lead too. Everyone knows Rush does not support any initiatives which mandate insurers provide birth control to their customers, as those insurers will in turn pass that cost on to the other customers. That is just simple mathematics even an idiot understands. (Accept maybe an ideological idiot). What Rush was doing was verbally illustrating the obvious mine field Progressives send their foot soldiers through with absolutely no regard for the way they will be treated on the other side. He was drawing attention to the notion that this is not a question for prime time and never should have been. As a personal observation, I have no interest whatsoever in this young lady’s sex life, family planning issues or anything else for that matter. It is none of my business. It has little if anything to do with women’s health and everything to do with agenda based political gain. Sadly, young ideologues are often drawn into the web of deceit spun by the Obama sycophants and are subsequently labeled and unjustly ridiculed for it. “Sad but true.”
Now while Rush can be a bit brash at times, he reminds his listeners they must tune in regularly to the program and understand fully his approach to these types of issues, and the entertainment based satire he often uses to make his points. (Anybody remember Don Imus and the shellacking he took from those poster children for racist hypocrites, Sharpton and Jackson??) This is what these guys do. If ya don’t like it, spin the knob…
Look, the bottom line here is stay out of the fire if you can’t take the heat. And to the Democrats who are now holding up this young woman as a cause celeb for no other reason than to silence Limbaugh, shame on you for your indecent and uncaring willingness to use her as a prop for your political gain.
Oh, and I will continue to post a listing of those who abandon Limbaugh, and urge all of my readers to “drop” them as well.
