Evil x 2+1…
Events here at home have us focused on our Colorado brothers and sisters, and this is all together appropriate. We continue to pray for the souls of the twelve who were so senselessly taken, and for those fighting for their lives in Aurora area hospitals. I for one will be watching as “evil” will face justice beginning tomorrow.
However scenes from around the globe remind us of the perils still lurking outside our door. Syria is poised to dissolve into total chaos as Assad and his regime run out of options. This is worrisome when we consider the amount of chemical and biological weapons that monster has stockpiled, and whether he would now use them to hang on to power or exact revenge. Worse yet, might they fall into the hands of terrorists should the government ultimately collapse? Assad is no Khadafy. He was raised a purposeful and blood thirsty killer, just like his old man. And it is likely he will lash out in some fashion before this is all over. Israel is monitoring the situation closely as is to be expected, and at the same time their attention is focused on Iran and the “shoulder monkey” terrorist group, Hezbollah. Truth be told, the Israelis will not run for the politically correct cover of the so called “United Nations” as does Secretary of State Clinton, but rather they will act in the best interest of their people first. And if it can be determined that the Iranians had a hand in the Bulgarian bus bombing, then you can bet some Hezbollah operative and/or one or more of his Ahmadinejad handlers, are going to have a severe case of shrapnel disease coming on.
All this comes under the backdrop of another UN attempt to corral the U.S. into a Constitutionally incompatible small arms treaty, and while Mitt Romney is planning to go overseas as part of a campaign initiative to roll out and gauge international support for the Presidential Candidate.
The weeks ahead are sure to bring more fateful events outside our borders, and the United States had better be prepared to act if need be.
Bad people do bad things…
Normally I would not jump so quickly to comment on a news story, but Aurora is already crumbling under the weight of a media circus as the networks scramble to find a phone booth.
Appropriately however, we must first step back and remember the lost and pray with vigor for those left to bear an unimaginable burden of grief. It is being reported that very young children have lost their lives, and this is certain to wrench the hearts of all Americans. With that said, My thoughts go immediately to what I believe is the desensitizing of life in our American culture. From the battles over when it begins, to the plethora of ultra-violent and graphic “movies” and video games which depict the wanton taking of it, many of our young people no longer seem to value the gift that is this life.
Sadly, this will most likely be overshadowed by the coming tide of political sentiment having to do with the gun control debate singular. Many a political hack with the intent to subvert the United States Constitution will rise up once again and sight this horrific incident as another reason for draconian, irresponsible and ineffective gun control laws. This is always accompanied by a blatant disregard for the truth or real solutions and usually flies directly in the face of any reason and/or facts. Nonetheless, the victims and their families will be misrepresented and exploited by fools like Mike Bloomberg, who care far less for anyones immeasurable loss than for their own selfish and malicious causes.
Gutter Chicago Politics…
The more this President speaks on the campaign trail, the more we have a glimpse into who he really is. From the mouth of a true elitist and a man who does not understand America, here is “the story“.
“. . .There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there…”
What an unbelievable, and wholly uneducated insult…
You have just read the ramblings of a politician in crisis mode. A person whose ideology is failing him and who refuses to admit it. Barack Obama is inexperienced in all facets of life necessary to be a responsible President for “all Americans”, and he is lost in the backwash of his divisive politics. For Mitt Romney’s part, he only need find his own energy and convey his policy specifics. If he can do this, he will trounce this Chicago upstart in November.
No apology needed???
Well we knew it was gonna be a rough campaign. And we knew the Obama attack machine would play a big role. But it’s getting nasty even earlier than I thought it would. The question I have is, can Mitt get below the curb with this crew? let’s have a look at the latest crap coming out of the cesspool.
So Mitt Romney leaves Bain Capital in 1999 and runs off to the 2002 Olympics to make history. He has no dealings with, nor is he in the loop with regard to a single business decision the company is making during that time. (Note: To date there is not a single document or representative piece of paperwork other than a leave of absence with his name on it during the time in question. However if this changes, so might opinion of the Governor.) Not only is this documented, but it is also one of the most publicized departures in American business history because of his destination and all of the success he had when he arrived in Salt Lake. Additionally, and as is the case with most larger corporations, the timing of “Securities and Exchange Commission” filings in relation to the actual written transition of power are sometimes far from perfectly aligned. For the most part this is done on purpose to (avoid) confusion between the departure and arrival of leadership, as well as assign any responsibility having to do with their respective terms of service. In this case, it is obvious that Romney was long gone, and any concerns the “concerned” Obama team may have about decisions made during that time are political in nature to put it mildly. However, to frame it in terms of a “felony” in order to exact maximum drama, is downright misleading and certainly less than honorable. Nonetheless, it doesn’t surprise me with this bunch.
The next whopper is the T.V. spot highlighting how Governor Romney paid only 15 percent in income tax against approximately $40 million he made last year, drawing the comparison to middle class folks who might be paying a higher rate. Ok, let’s start with the obvious. Three words, and I must let you do your own homework on this. (Effective Tax Rate). Because if you don’t know what you’re actually paying in taxes Mr./Mrs. Middle class, then shame on you and we shouldn’t even be having this conversation. Additionally, one of the reasons he paid at the 15 percent rate is because of the millions he gave away which also reduced his burden a good chunk. Oh, and if anyone thinks an eventual $6+million dollar tax payment is too little, then you do not understand the fundamentals of our economic system, which makes you part of the problem. This is why I say you must all read the “numbers within the numbers”, and not be buffaloed by the Obama class warfare and propaganda machine. Know the truth before you vote, or this election will be an exercise in “divide and deceive” as opposed to any “hope and change”…
Penance and Progress…
As infuriating as it is to hear the country’s sworn Attorney General make the case that requiring an individual to prove he/she is a citizen before voting is akin to the poll taxes of the post slavery era, I must account for the fact this man is obviously a disingenuous and despicable politician and not a true lawman. Having said that, I
happened to catch Mitt Romney today addressing the same group of NAACP hypocrites Holder addressed just days before. I was pleased during the beginning of the speech as Romney made a very heartfelt appeal to the crowd to see what was in his heart and not be duped by the Obama class warfare rhetoric. Then things got ugly. As Romney started speaking about common sense, sound fiscal policy and fairness as means to address huge disparities in unemployment numbers for African-Americans, he was met by groans and at some point outright jeers. Later, when he spoke of rolling back Obamacare for a more sensible and realistic approach that wouldn’t bankrupt the country for all Americans, the audience flat-out booed him.
Well, as I have said before and will say for the record today, there are many within the minority caucuses and causes who are content to have race be a factor for the foreseeable future and beyond. I cannot imagine what would have happened, and how the “Lame Street Media” would have lamented had the POTUS been booed in a venue of predominantly white people. This is the height of hypocrisy and speaks to much of what is wrong in America today. There is simply no interest on the part of the Left in solving the “problems” of minority communities, only exasperating the theme of division and bigotry. And what happened to Mitt Romney today is proof positive of that.
I absolutely applaud Candidate Romney for going into the lion’s den. Sadly though, and for the same old reasons, it was an extraordinary waste of time and effort. What a disgraceful moment in our nation’s history. I am truly embarrassed this day for the country which has done more in far less time than any other to address the issues of human rights across the board. I guess the NAACP and the likes of Benjamin Jealous, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan will decide when and if we will ever be free of our sins, or receive credit for penance and progress…
Presidential disconnect…
For a POTUS presiding over unemployment numbers realistically closer to 15%, it boggles the mind how the word taxes can even cross his lips. I suppose his ideological mindset will simply not allow for common sense and/or history’s lessons.
Firstly, when President Obama spoke of “those making $250,000.00 or more” as the “wealthy” among us today, it was maddening to think he was incapable of drawing the connection between small business, DBA’s, small LLC’s and other folks, who are the life’s blood of our economy, and who are the only hope of any meaningful recovery. This “tax plan” is simply another class warfare stunt that will further handicap any infinitesimal progress to date on the economic front. How any logical thinking person can believe this type of Progressive tax approach, along with massive regulation and now universal healthcare, are somehow conducive to economic growth is simply inexplicable. However, that is a topic for another day, (and many more after that).
Anyway, the “revenue” generated by this massive tax will explode the national debt by $4 “T”rillion dollars over 4 years and generate only enough usable capital to run our bloated government for just about 8 days, yes people 8 days! Is there anyone out there who truly believes this “tax the rich” scheme is legitimate and not a campaign tactic meant to distract and destroy? If you do, you are beyond all reason and actually a big part of the problem.
For my part, I believe this President knows full well he cannot find enough revenue on Wall Street to fuel his “hope and change”, and so he intends to cut a line even closer to the beating but injured heart of our nation. Hopefully, he and his Marxist college buddies will be shown the door in November, before “We the People” bleed out from the many flesh wounds already inflicted.
Soldier Snack Pack – Jack Bellew…
I admit I can become engrossed in the political gamesmanship that permeates the 24 news cycle. There is very little good to grab hold of, or that gets your attention in a good way these days. But every so often something comes along that stops me in my tracks.
It seems when 6-year-old Jack Bellew stopped eating his snacks during his lunch at Ada Givens Elementary School, his concerned mother got to wondering why her red-blooded American boy was opting out of what most his age consider the best part of the day besides recess. Well it turns out he was saving them for his cousin, Army Ranger Matt Maddox who was serving overseas. This is heartwarming to me as I have raised my boy to be ever mindful of the sacrifices made daily on his behalf by American Soldiers here and abroad. And I remember the genuine concern which comes so easily to the heart of a child.
Anyway, Jack has turned his ambitions into reality and expanded his good will to all soldiers. He has marched in Veterans Day parades to support the Blue Star Mothers and helped pack hundreds of care packages for the troops. And he has sold snowman ornaments dressed in fatigues to support his own snack packs to our soldiers. Jack has some personal favorites he likes to send to include Slim Jims, popcorn, honey-roasted peanuts and bubble gum.
To date the now 9-year-old “soldier to be” has sent out more than 3000 snack packs to service folks fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. He is a true inspiration and I hope this post inspires “you” to join with Jack in recognizing those who go in harm’s way in our stead. The new reality sucks…
With Gas prices still hovering above $3.00 a gallon, 2 million mortgages in foreclosure and an equal amount 3 payments or more behind, and a measly 85,000 jobs created last month in a total work force that has shrunk by almost 3 percentage points since this President took office, I suppose one would have no choice but to try and spin these dire numbers as somehow “a step in the right direction“. I’m just not so sure I like that direction.
Look, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz can blabber on all she wants about how GW was the Anti-Christ and all bad things in Washington are Republicans fault. But the facts are our economy is flailing and in danger of going out of business, and the Presidents approach has been one of more debt, more taxes, and divisive class warfare. Consumer confidence continues to plummet as Americans are far smarter than the Dems give them credit for. “We the People” can see the ship is sinking and we are not overly anxious to back up and hit the iceberg again.
Then Candidate Obama was very frank when he told a reporter that if he couldn’t fix this in three years, his would be a one term Presidency. Well, all he has done is exasperate a bad situation, and I think we should hold him to his own prediction.
Middle Class Warfare…
As this election year drags on the President seems more and more comfortable in his class warfare role.
President Obama: “Being part of the middle class is not just about income, it’s about knowing what’s important, and not measuring your success just based on your bank account. It’s about your values and being responsible and looking after each other and giving back.”
Now one can look quickly at this and say, “Yeah, that’s right”. Actually however, it is the bait and switch tactic (argument) used by Progressives with alarming frequency. Change the subject and play on the emotions of those most affected so they may forget your policies have devastated their children’s future. Erase the ambitions and efforts of those who seek to achieve greater success by making them feel guilty about that success. And pigeon hole those in poverty to think their aspirations of achieving “middle class” are simply out of reach without massive government “intervention”. I don’t believe I’ve ever heard a more cynical and elitist view of the middle class engine which drives our nation as this. President Barack Obama has erased any doubt in my mind as to his true political motivations and ideological belief system. He does not understand our country and he does not understand “We the People”.
As for Biden’s recent comments about “the so called job creators” vs. the middle class, the fact he doesn’t realize they are one in the same tells us all we need know about the VP, (ignorant).
Mr. President, I am not fooled. American values were born of hard work, entrepreneurism, and a desire to make a “better” way for our posterity. That motivation is what has made this the greatest nation on earth. Your attempts to separate and call into question the “faith, hope and charity” naturally associated with the resulting successes, is now bordering on pathetic. Frankly, as a God fearing and hardworking middle class American, I am insulted. The closer we come to the election, the more I see my President as a resentful demagogue interested only in the “greatness” of his ideological plan and personal legacy, and not at all in the best way forward for his country. Elections truly do have consequences and we are seeing them unfold before our very eyes.
“Independence”…
Independence, what does it mean? What did it mean to the founders in the middle 18th Century and how does that transcend today? When I think of these questions, I personally am not the least bit confused or even hesitant about the answers. A third graders understanding of the historical facts tell us that, by and large the colonists sought to be free of Great Britain’s cross Atlantic and all-encompassing King and Parliament. Though there was no immediate or coordinated approach to achieving such an unheard-of ambition for the times, the “rebels” would eventually come to understand the basic premise of unalienable rights afforded not by the hand of a “tender and merciful Monarch”, but by the grace of God. And they would fight for those rights. Oh, there were certainly the loyalists (Progressives?) who could not reconcile a life “un-ruled”, but liberty would eventually win the day and freedom would come to America by way of great bloodshed and sacrifice.
So taking into consideration the incomprehensible size and scope of our government today, I ask you two questions on this 4th of July 2012, and I look forward to your answers. Republicans and Democrats, Liberals and Conservatives alike, what does independence mean to you today, and does our nation’s current status and application hold true to its founding?
Ultimately, I believe these questions will be answered this November. And at the very moment when Election Day 2012 is settled and “We the People” have spoken, we shall know our children’s (and our own) future…
