Now what, Mr. President…

obamacare-cartoon-2-aPelosi: “We have to pass the health care bill so that you can find out what is in it”. Do you all remember that shameful moment in American politics when a sitting member of Congress embarrassed herself and her Democratic colleagues with that revelation? Well it turns out that her party did ram that bill through, (The “Affordable” Care Act), and there is apparently little about it that’s “affordable”. In fact, long-time Washington player Senator Max Baucus likens the coming implementation of some of the main components of the new health care law to a “train wreck”.

From the fight over who exactly is to pay for the so-called exchanges from state to state, to the plethora of tax increases associated with the law, and as doctors are walking out of meetings in protest of what they say is a lack of discernible forethought in terms of the implementation of the five-year roll-out plan, “Obamacare” looks to be just as Baucus suggested, a “train wreck”.

For those of us who predicted this very nightmare scenario, there is some vindication in the knowledge that when you allow a government bureaucracy to be involved in what should be left to the private sector to hash out, it will always go badly. Regrettably however, there will also and always be victims of ill-conceived and unrealistic legislation like this.

Not sure where we go from here on out, but the road ahead looks bumpy to be sure, and will no doubt be far more costly than Candidate/President Barack Obama was ready to admit when he sold us this bill of goods.

Enough already…

bk-bush-20130425-2511MSNBC’s Rachel “Mad Cow” Maddow, John Stewart and the rest of the “usual suspects” wasted no time attacking the Bush Library ceremonies the other night. It’s always a bit amusing to me though, that in the midst of an Obama Presidency, marred by unprecedented inexperience, reckless indecision, and the legacy of which will be consequences so significant that we are already feeling the far-reaching effects, that these ideologically imbalanced sycophants are still caught up in the Bush bashing thing. I hate to break it to you folks, this stopped being “about Bush” after the “stimulus” passed, if it ever really was about him in the first place. So I have a suggestion for all the Progressive junkies out there who see GW as the popular guy in school who made you feel a little silly and insignificant, (and this includes media types working for ratings challenged cable networks),  “get over it will ya?”…

“Barely above stall speed”…

042613_Imus_MacedoGDP growth came in at about 2.5 percent in the first quarter, shy of the expected 3.0 percent, and well below what most credible economists see as a number necessary to promote real job growth. Oddly, consumer spending ticked up again which I believe is related to the rise in consumer debt. A lot of folks are simply “charging it” again.

Scary as that may sound, it pales in comparison to a piece of news I heard today regarding how the fed will now measure the nation’s economic size and strength. Apparently, Beyonce’s album sales, and a host of “research and development” spending will now be added to our overall economic picture to show some size, if you will. So not only do we have to swallow the “pie in the sky” wishful economics of our “Professor in Chief”, but our government is actually going to  factor in a whole bunch of phantom numbers to disguise our obvious fiscal malignancy. Great…

“War on Terror” 101…

519160126Listening to the fringe on either side of the political argument these days can be frustrating. It all depends on your mood I suppose, and how receptive you are at any given moment, to the myriad of ideological rhetoric littering the air waves, television and the internet. Moreover, the currently super-charged environment which exists because of the events in Boston further complicates matters as every news agency and their affiliate want to be first with “the scoop”. I’m actually not even sure why I bother some days…Truthfully, I bother because I care about the future of my son’s country and I prefer to be an educated participant in the debate.

With this in mind and despite what some of my detractors would have you believe, I’ve never been much of government “conspiracy theorist”. My politics are much more human in terms of my confidence that our elected/appointed officials will actually adhere to their respective oaths. Nevertheless, as I listen to some credible media (and government) sources now reporting, at the very least, some face to face federal interaction with accused bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev, I’m concerned about whether we either dropped the ball, or purposely looked away. Now I’m not in any way suggesting government involvement in the attacks, so you Lefty nuts can put a sock in it. I am suggesting however, that our current politically correct posture in this country may be compromising our ability to see the threat clearly, thereby compromising “We the People”.

Look, when a Jihadist psychopath yells “allahu-akbar” and guns down 12 soldiers and 1 civilian on a military installation, it’s not “work place violence”, it’s a terrorist attack damn it, and anyone who says differently is someone whose motives we should question.

Oh, and all Ft. Hood soldiers involved should receive their purple hearts and other “combat” related metals Mr. President. “War on Terror 101”

“Left Wing Media” way out of line…

130417220526-boston-marathon-single-image-cutDespite a flood of emails, I have hesitated out of an abundance of reason to comment on the events of last week. I think it wholly appropriate at this juncture however, to recognize the exceptionalism of city, state and federal law enforcement, as they relentlessly pursued this unconscionable evil for the sake of society, as well as the heroic efforts of EMS and civilian bystanders who risked their own lives and ran immediately to aid the wounded at the scene of the bombings. As for the doctors and nurses of some of the finest hospitals in the world, your expertise and readiness were immeasurable in terms of their value during that nightmare week. God Bless all of you!

Having said that, I also wanted to express my disdain for those members of our corrupt media culture who foolishly and irresponsibly injected their political agendas and ideologies into the discussion over how and why this event occurred, in some cases even before some of the victims had been transported to the hospital. These disgraceful individuals were not back room pundits either, but rather on-air personalities who frankly, should wear the label “enemy combatant”. Their blatant disregard for all things appropriate and respectful is just more evidence of the decline of modern journalism in our country today. Consequently, the rejuvenation and/or re-emergence of the true American spirit will only take place when objectivity and the pursuit of truth and reason are returned to the so-called “main stream media”.

One of ten…

Newsmakers_4_12_13__Gun_Control_Debate_C_824510000_20130412125110_320_240For good or bad, gun-control is now front and center, largely as a result of the Sandy Hook tragedy. I have fought the Second Amendment battle on a number of fronts over the years and I keep coming away with a very disturbing observation. Ironically, it’s not exclusive to the argument over guns, but I continue to be floored by how little politicians know about many of the important issues of our time.

As an example, I was watching WPRI’s Newsmakers recently with Guests, Rhode Island  Rep’s Finn and Chippendale, discussing proposed gun-control legislation coming out of Smith Hill. Firstly, Miss Finn’s “observations” on the availability of data concerning firearms incidents nationwide were almost comical. She was apparently attempting to cite CDC stats, or some lack thereof, and simply flubbed it badly. Her assertions were completely inaccurate and she seemed wholly ill-equipped to make her case. Not to be outdone, Chippendale shanked one of the simplest questions out there, and a favorite of the Liberal television media, concerning “the line” between what Americans can and should be allowed to own. Tim White cleverly threw out the poll-tested “What about bazooka’s?”, to which Rep. Chippendale simply had no discernible retort. The factual and necessary answer would have been that the “National Firearms act of 1934” and subsequent “Gun control Act of 1968” addressed those issues, banning and/or regulating ownership, use, and importation of such/certain weapons. One would think these are questions our elected representatives should be able to answer with ease, thus allowing a more robust debate for “We the People” to consider.

Nevertheless, our freedoms seem precariously balanced in the hands of those who let their emotions and/or political ambitions trump fact and reason. Dangerous ground I would say, as there are another nine Amendments in the BOR. I’m starting to think there should be some sort of test for those who wish to speak for us.

Hypocrisy re-defined…

article-judd3-1204I spend a great deal of time fending off Left Wing foolishness and vitriol. The nonsensical ranting of a political party hijacked by revisionists and Socialist radicals is something I have come to expect. That said, the recent attacks on Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (and his wife), by the same despicable demagogues who wear “live and let live” as a banner wrapped around their empty heads, is solid evidence of the morally void and historically bankrupt modern Liberal Democrat.

The simple truth of the matter, is that Ashley Judd is neither capable of, nor qualified to, represent any people, never mind “We the People”, and some folks on the Left simply don’t appreciate how obvious this is. Moreover, to anyone out there who cares more about what was recorded as opposed to how and why it was recorded, I would invite you to be a fly on the wall inside the sewer that is any campaign headquarters of the 21st Century Democratic Party. Please!!!!

The Politics of Gun Control…

gun-control-posterWhen you ask the average American, “Are you in favor of background checks for people buying guns?”, the obvious answer will be yes. As with all “polls” however, when you adjust the question to reflect the hidden details, you get a different (and more educated) answer. My point is that the President’s assertions about American’s feelings on gun control are skewed and highly political to say the least. Moreover, how in the world can we have a logical discussion on making our children and our nation safer, when our ideological chief executive’s contribution is to exploit the parents of Sandy Hook by flying them around from sound-bite to sound-bite on Air force One.

If there is anyone out there who believes the President of the United States cares about anything other than positioning himself politically by attempting to demonize and divide the opposition, please remove your head from the partisan sand before you suffocate.

“This is not about me.” Really Mr. President? I think this is all about you.
