Reality Check 2012…

Even I thought I would have more time to check the reality of this election. Wrong… Now that the Liberal/Progressives have cemented their place within the future framework  of our country, it’s time to take stock of what that really means.

1. Moody’s has put the United States on notice that if a debt deal is not reached very soon they will downgrade our credit rating. They were also pointedly clear to the Fed, that any deal must not be a “kick the can down the road” application, but rather must contain “substantial and significant” measures, that would calm the fears of a watching world with regard to whether or not the U.S. will be a “worthy investment” moving forward. It is now painfully obvious that the simplistic and feel good “fair share” mentality, packaged and sold as the answer to our fiscal woes by this President and his supporters, will be nothing short of inadequate, and a shallow and fruitless approach to the goal of avoiding the fiscal chasm we face.

2. As anticipated, major corporations like Boeing are now preparing to cut staffing levels and work weeks, as well as substantially reduce their overhead (close area support operations), to offset the inevitable costs of “Obamacare”. The President’s signature law will, as predicted, result in skyrocketing healthcare costs to businesses large and small, and eventually diminish care for all Americans.

3. The Obama Administration, aided by a complacent and complicit main stream media, is now laying the foundation for a (major league) cover-up attempt surrounding the (bush league) handling of the Benghazi attack, which resulted in the murder of our Ambassador and three other American heroes. Moreover, the number of questions raised by the recent resignation of General David Patraeus only complicate the issue of any Administration transparency further. How this plays out over the next few months will be a significant measure as to where our nation is headed concerning the accountability of our elected officials. As of this moment, President Barack Obama’s Administration has set new and dangerous precedents along these lines, and appears to be re-writing our beloved Constitution.

As I watch all of this unfolding with lightning speed, and then add many of the pet causes of this now uninhibited ideological President, the words “elections have consequences” burn in my brain. I am also very curious to know how his supporters will react as the bottom ultimately falls away. Who will they blame? What solutions will they offer? Tax the rich some more? And what happens when they have no more to give?

For the first time in our history my fellow Americans, it is now indisputable fact that we will leave our children a lesser country than we inherited…

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.

Let the battle begin…

I did my level best to keep an open mind during last night’s debate, which is more than I can say for some of my email detractors. You folks really need to consider anger management classes. With that said, I think not many minds were changed by this last meeting of President Obama and Governor Romney. I did feel the President sounded more like the challenger rather than the incumbent. But overall, the stark contrasts between the two men and their ideologies was only reinforced.

I have framed this election for the last four years as a battle for the soul of this country. I stand by that assessment even more steadfastly today. In the end, folks will have to do a great deal of gut checking when they go into the voting booth. And while there will always be the party loyalists who vote their emotions instead of on the basis of truth, this election will ultimately be decided when clear-headed individuals make a conscious choice in terms of where they see our country in twenty years.

With the debates now over, I cannot remember a more divided America. Sadly, this is our own doing and not that of some political boogie man conjured up by either side. We have failed in so many ways to safeguard that which was entrusted to us, and are therefore left to fight over what the founders had intended to be so much more clear. Our value system is in chaos and the minority has paralyzed an entire culture, because so many have chosen apathy and political correctness over the time-tested principles of individual liberty and accountability. Dependency is now revered and success is demonized. Revisionist history is the norm and few of our children are learning the greatness of America or of those who gave their futures to keep it that way.

Nonetheless and in the simplest of terms, for Governor Romney to become President there must be enough voters out there who understand, our current direction will erode and eventually erase the exceptionalism which has made The United States the greatest arrangement for mankind in all of human history. And for President Obama to remain President, there must be enough voters who have become comfortable with a globalist, big government, big debt and “live in the moment” application. On November 6, 2012, the world will know whether “We the People” shall rise up from adversity once again, and unite to leave our children a better future as we have done for generations, or whether we will simply be another political punch-line, remembered only for the missed opportunity of having learned the lessons of history. Please put any ill-conceived or resentment filled rhetoric in its proper place and vote your conscience this November…There is much at stake…

Round two…

The President came out as expected last night and went a long way to repairing his image, if only in the eyes of the “Far Left” sycophants. Mitt Romney also came out as expected, looking confident and ready to get to work. I must admit I enjoyed the fact Romney finally did what so many in politics and the media have cowered from, and that was to call the President out on his failed record once and for all.

This was significant because despite Candy Crowley’s best efforts, Romney pushed his way through the truth door, and even managed to reinforce people’s notions of a very one-sided “Lame Stream Media”, as if that were necessary…

I was particularly struck when the President attempted mightily to squeeze by the Libya issue, this time by lying straight out to “We the People” about what he said in the Rose Garden the day following the murder of Ambassador Stevens and three other American attaché, and I noticed the camera panned to the First Lady, clapping as if trying to turn on a light in New Mexico. At this point, I see Libya continuing to haunt this President right out of the Oval Office.

Good riddance. Enough already with this silly college prank. Please let the adults back into the White House so we can save our country…

“Reality Shrugged”…

It seems Team Obama aim to ride this class-warfare thing right into November. Now we are hearing the POTUS will go on the attack regarding “Bain Capital” this Tuesday. Well I say bring it… Now I know there are those who cringe at the thought of defending Capitalism, but I’m not one of them, and I’ll tell you why.

After doing my best to get past the “Biden effect” last Wednesday, I heard Congressman Ryan say something he says religiously on the trail, and that is Americans will have a clear choice in this election. This is as true in 2012 as it has ever been in American politics. Rhetoric aside, “We the People” must choose what kind of country we will leave our kids. Will it be an ever-growing “nanny state”, brought about because we were too complacent and lazy to heed the lessons of history? Or will we take back our schools, our city halls and our inalienable rights, so we may at least give the next generation a fighting chance?

No matter how you slice it, Capitalism is the engine which provides and Liberalism is the engine which costs. There are many ways to tweak this reality. But in the end, government must always turn to the private sector for its worth. And without a healthy and vibrant private sector, there is no government sector. Simple math… I am no conspiracy theorist, but I would encourage my readers to peruse a copy of Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. In it you will find Collectivism and Statist topics that read as if straight from 2012, even though the book was written in 1957. It might at least make you second guess the Chris Matthews platform for America.

Anyway, Biden did make one thing very clear during the debate, and that was his boss’s vision for our country is measured largely in terms of phony empathy and unrealistic theory. The very notion you can create a “lean military fighting force” for example, is Liberal fools code for massive “Carter” style equipment and personal cuts at the expense of national security. Moreover, if anyone believes this will not result in massive job market and ultimately economic bleeding, just ask the stunned folks in Ohio, who could have sworn they heard the VP throw the M-1 Abrams out with the bath water.

Look, we can do this together. We have compromised and done it before. But if the bi-partisanship these Leftist ideologues are speaking of looks anything like the “my way or the highway” application of the last four years, then the cost is simply too high. Mitt Romney for President.

Gruff old Liberal…

I was gonna give this a couple of days to percolate, but I think something got lost in the mix last night. Clearly Paul Ryan steadfastly adhered to a pre-planned strategy for the debate. So much so I believe he missed a number of opportunities to knock that arrogant old fart off the stage with a cold blast of facts. However, it was even more simple than that. Biden was on point and delivered the pandering message in order to scare the living crap out of the old folks, as well as every other “hot button” group he could think of. The problem was he misrepresented every issue he raised.

Now I know the fact checkers will eventually pick this thing apart and they should. But here are just a few basic points. I’m a big Reagan fan and I can tell you President Reagan initially provided very few specifics on his tax reform plan in 1986. #40 knew full well that a tax code  printed on about 50,000 pages back then was sure to contain enough wiggle room to accomplish his “across the board” goals. He was right and legendary House Speaker Tip O’Neil knew it. That was how the extraordinary bipartisan arrangement was facilitated. So “Old Joe” got his wires a bit crossed on that one.

And how many times is the Obama Administration going to count that 700 + billion dollars they raided from Medicare? The reality is they could not possibly pay for “Obamacare” on the promise of simply cutting waste and fraud within the existing structure of the law. As a matter of fact, the CBO figured they would be about 500 billion dollars short. Joe Biden knows this but bullied his way passed a very polite Ryan to make his case for a necessary, albeit clandestine “middle class tax hike” in order to recoup the shortfall. Moreover, Obamacare adds in another 300+ billion dollars in taxes over the next ten years to account for the ever “graduating” costs of the program. Obamacare will be the greatest money pit Americans have ever seen. It is inevitable.

Biden was also out in “Left” field when he repeatedly misrepresented small business folks and how they fit into the tax structure. Team Obama continually returns to this theme because they believe Americans are too stupid to understand how many small business owners file their tax returns. Those numbers must ultimately be adjusted to reflect the (cost of actually “doing” business) including business tax, medical coverage for employees (impending Obamacare), simple overhead and a slew of other state and federal regulatory taxes and fees. So what does their final paycheck look like, and whose gonna get that tax hike Joe? This is simple economics that unfortunately even the fact checkers and economists have a hard time understanding beyond their singular academic prowess. The Democrats hope is you don’t get it, because they need that tax revenue to pay for their massive spending. Inevitably, Ryan was right. If the Dems have their way, better than a half a million jobs will likely be lost next year alone, as those small businesses will downsize and close under the suffocating pressure of “Obamanomics”. And the “big businesses” will simply just go into hibernation like they always do.

And then there was Libya. Well, that one is gonna play out soon, and I personally think it sinks the Obama Administration. (Just sayin…)

In the end, I think Ryan was too polite but did no damage, and Biden had a good night in the eyes of the red meat Libs. Talking points were on the menu and Biden “cooked” them up. Having said that, I believe the real Biden was up last night. Not the nice guy that even many Republicans portray, but a gruff old Liberal with rocks in his head, and a grudge against the truth.

Divided we fall…

I thought it was interesting amidst all the economic chaos in Europe, how we are reminded of President Reagan’s premise that freedom is always one generation away from extinction. Well then it should come as no surprise, that with nations like Greece and Spain poised to ignite financial Armageddon across the pond, the Neo-Nazi party in Greece has gained in political strength from 2 percent  to 22 percent, and now holds 21 seats in Parliament. These frightening trends are also becoming more noticeable in France and Italy. So a note to the complacent among you: When government fails to make good on promises it should never have made in the first place, the gates are then opened for the sinister forces of evil to invade the minds of a disgruntled populous causing confusion and mayhem. In the whirlwind of debate which ensues, blame is more easily affixed and the truth becomes lost in the fog of ideology. This is exactly what the Fascists and Communists used to insert their illegitimate causes into the mainstream of European politics, eventually causing the deaths of tens of millions of innocents in the 1930’s and 40’s. (Ironically, more than one third of the population of Greece would eventually be murdered by the Nazis during World War II).

I tell you this because I believe history is our greatest friend. It can also be our worst enemy should we “choose” to ignore its pointed lessons. The United States is undoubtedly in the grip of great financial stress, the complexities of which we have not seen before. And we do not have to look far to see some of the same forces of evil attempting to exploit our nations weakened condition. The likes of George Soros and the millions he pumps into organizations like “Acorn” and “Media Matters”, are a stark reminder that the very freedom our soldiers are dying to protect is threatened more covertly (but effectively) by those who are content to manipulate and promote our collapse from within.

It is certainly not my intention to be the predictable “prophet of doom”, but rather to wake Americans from their complacent slumber and remind them that what we are going through is real and getting worse. These circumstances always leaves us more vulnerable, especially if we are fractured and divided. We must remember there will always be wolves at the door of liberty, and that the lessons of history are there for us to embrace and learn from so our posterity may at least have a fighting chance.

It’s only the first debate…

Just a couple of observations. (If) we are to believe the polls, Governor Romney did exactly what he needed to do and took the fight to the President. He was on message, articulate and described what is the most basic but important part of this election, “the vivid contrast” between two visions for America. And while the President did seem a bit disinterested and smug, that actually didn’t surprise me one bit.

Now I won’t get into why I feel the POTUS is not necessarily the “likable” guy many folks seem to think he is. I might just let the recently revealed tapes of a couple of very divisive speeches he made before he was elected speak for themselves on that matter. Consequently, I definitely got the feeling the Obama camp was trying mightily not to appear outside of that “likability” comfort zone. Let’s face it, Romney pretty much showed that’s really all they have. Arguably however, this is only the first debate. And judging from the “Shame Stream Media” response thus far, they will be out in full force today to spin this to the President’s advantage as best they can.

The simple truth is that in November, “We the People” will in fact have to do exactly what Governor Romney said last night, and choose between two very different ideological directions for our country. One thing is for certain after watching last night’s contest though, and that is neither of the candidates  attempted to hide theirs. Using only this as a benchmark, I score the night a tie.

Gasping…

The latest ad from the Elizabeth Warren camp is a picture perfect example of a campaign in crisis mode. The Liberal Democratic Candidate for Senator Scott Brown’s seat in Massachusetts has latched on to the Akin controversy with the talons of a desperate competitor who is in trouble and out of ideas, (if she had any to begin with). The fact that the ad is flat-out rubbish and awash with mischaracterizations and down right lies, is almost lost behind what sounds like the gasping tone of it.

Listening to Warren speak is almost painful. She is easily flustered and devoid of any logical or factual debate. Her lack of knowledge on even the most basic issues regarding the current economic crisis we face, is trumped only by her missteps and bumbling attempts to clarify her “Native American” heritage.

I simply cannot defend the Akin remarks, and I have stated as much in recent commentary. Having said that, if Ms. Warren would like to speak out for women in America today, maybe she could offer a solution to the disproportionate unemployment numbers for women during the “Obama years”, rather than fear mongering and propagandizing. Then again, that’s what the Left does best. What a joke…

One chance…

44 out of “57” states saw their unemployment numbers go up last month Mr. President. 24 million Americans are out of work. The actual unemployment number, which includes those who have lost all “hope” and simply stopped looking for work, is 15.9 percent, or slightly higher depending on the mechanism of tally. And it takes 250,000 jobs created each month (just to keep up) with population growth Sir. So please tell me how we are somehow “moving in the right direction”.

It’s numbers like these, and this Administration’s response to them, that give me cause to think their intentions are something more ideological, and that they have a very different “vision” for America. Now I know this is stating the obvious, but it bears repeating as “We the People” get ready to choose a President. It is also why I firmly believe this election has far less to do with the candidates than it does the voters. “We” will have to choose not just a man to lead the way, but a direction consistent with the Constitution, and not the entitlement mindset of a particular and growing voter block. “We” will have to choose what kind of United States we want for our children, and whether we are willing to make the hard choices to secure it.

None of this will be easy. But on this Monday morning, while I watch the news and see my father’s and my sons country slipping away, this election is looking more and more like the most important in more than two centuries.

I believe we will have but one chance to get this right. Ironically, “We the People” will have to do much more than just pull a lever. History, taught adequately and “accurately” to our posterity, is our only hope…
