The extension of the “Bush Tax
Cuts” seems to be on everyone’s mind these days, and it is understandable as
this tax season could bring quite a few gloomy faces. Let’s forget the
ideological question of “Big Business” and “Small Business” for minute because
it’s only clouding the issue. Simply put, any tax increase at this time will be
toxic poison to this perilous economic situation we find ourselves in. So badly
damaged are the fundamental tenets of our free market system by the socialist
forces at work within our own government, that further pinching “We the People”
as a means to make a political point, or pay for that which we have loudly
stated we do not want, will surely push us over the edge.

Average Americans are growing more and more volatile with
every jobs report. Their recognition of the price of this Presidents grand
experiment has further infuriated them and brought more and more to understand
clearly his inexperience, ideology driven agenda and his arrogance. Folks all
over this land are looking closely at their share of the tax burden and it’s
becoming painfully obvious that Mr. Obama will have no choice but to come
knocking on their door to pay the enormous bill he is running up.

So as we read article after article popping up about how our
debt has actually become a national security liability, and we now hear the
POTUS asking for even more money disguised as a second “stimulus” while the
elderly go another cycle with no “COLA”, one has to ask: Are we far off from
another “tax revolt” (Boston Tea Party) in America??

Whereas it is the duty of all
Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be
grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor– and
whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to
recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and
prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal
favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to
establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th
day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service
of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good
that was, that is, or that will be– That we may then all unite in rendering
unto him our sincere and humble thanks–for his kind care and protection of the
People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation–for the signal and
manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we
experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war–for the great degree
of tranquility, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed–for the
peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions
of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One
now lately instituted–for the civil and religious liberty with which we are
blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and
in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to
confer upon us.

and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our
prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech
him to pardon our national and other transgressions– to enable us all, whether
in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties
properly and punctually–to render our national government a blessing to all
the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional
laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed–to protect and guide all
Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to
bless them with good government, peace, and concord–To promote the knowledge and
practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them
and us–and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal
prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

Thanksgiving

When I think of “Thanksgiving” it is usually in two forms, both of those outside of my wife’s obvious and extraordinary cooking skills which will no doubt leave me on the couch looking like a python that just ate a guinea pig. That questionable mental picture aside, and despite the revisionists who gleefully point out that ours was not the first Thanksgiving along with other irrelevant tidbits, the historical value of this holiday as it came to be known over generations has always intrigued me. Imagine a people so at the mercy of their own state of existence with only the land and the bartered assistance of some cautious but well-meaning indigenous folks, setting about an event to thank their creator for having brought them to that point in time. That thought alone brings me to my second observation of Thanksgiving. During these confusing and for many, trying times, it is easy to throw up your hands and ask “could it get any worse”? Well, at the risk of sounding a bit self-righteous and all, the good Lord has shown me a thing or two that tells me it often can get worse, much worse.

So take a moment tomorrow and say a prayer of thanksgiving,
but add a prayer for the many who are struggling mightily with disease and
starvation. Say a prayer for those who live in the shadow of oppressive and
tyrannical regimes and to whom freedom is still only an aspiration. Say a
prayer for our soldiers fighting in the name of those aspirations and their
families who will endure yet another holiday season apart. And don’t forget a
prayer for the mom and dad who will spend their Thanksgiving next to the
hospital bed of a sick child.

Oh there is always something to be thankful for people…

Note here: There was a time many years ago when I thought
this analogy to be somewhat simplistic and naiveté. But with many a lesson
learned, I would tell you that if we all made just a little effort on behalf of
one another these days,,, that would surely amount to a lot…

God Bless you all and be well this holiday. I will be back

Happy Meal

On this day before Thanksgiving I
figured I do a food blog. Ok, so kudos to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom for
slapping his veto on the proposed ordinance banning toys from “happy meals”.
Look folks, this is the epitome of big brother where he simply does not belong,
and shame on the City’s Board of Supervisors for overriding that veto and
meddling where parents should be parenting. If the Lib nut jobs over in “San
Fran” feel their kids are choking down a bit too much grease in the course of a
week, then simply “mommy up” and say no! This is the foolishness that happens
when we elect radicals to our halls of government. San Francisco is drowning in
a 500 + million dollar deficit and these lunatics are gonna tell you what to
feed your kid? “Stop the insanity!!!”

And so the United Nations will
call their silly little Security Council meetings, President Obama will look
for just the right words to appease the situation, and the rest of the world
will hold its collective breath. Now with all of that, the brutal and inhuman
government of North Korea will once again have achieved its goal of holding the
world hostage while simultaneously building even more powerful weapons of mass
destruction. I fear this “kicking the can down the road” that has gone on since
the Armistice of 1953, will soon culminate in a nuclear flash bang over that
area of the planet and lead the rest of us straight to WW III.

It is getting harder and harder to look at the times we are
living in and not see bad things ahead. And I say this with great trepidation
as I do not profess to be educated in a Biblical sense about “end
times”. But really folks, if you are not at least a little concerned about
world events as they are currently unfolding and where they may lead us, then
you clearly have your collective heads in the sand.

Let’s see, roaming barbaric jihadists lopping off the heads
of the innocent proclaiming it to be God’s will, monetary chaos that is
threatening to topple governments large and small, a Middle East situation that
resembles a keg of black powder sitting in a fireworks factory, using words
like nuclear weapons when talking about nations like Pakistan and Iran, and a
psychotic little communist pimp with an itchy trigger finger and “the

I don’t know about you all, but I’m startin’ to get a little

JFK

This date never seems to escape
me. I have always been a JFK fan and there is even a distant connection to the
Kennedy family on my Moms side. As most of you know, I have pontificated much
about the late Ted Kennedy and his son Patrick, and been quick to point out
that our 35th President may have been a bit disappointed shall we say, with the
Democrats of today.

Of President Kennedy I would simply say this, politics and
personal stuff aside, I saw a hero who fought bravely for his country and a dad
who adored his children. For that reason I suppose I will continue to pause
each year and watch “Years of Lightning, Day of Drums” while I shed a quiet
tear for a man who achieved so much and was taken far too soon.

A portion of remarks he would have given at the Trade Mart,
his final destination on that fateful day in Dallas:

We in this country, in this generation, are – by destiny
rather than choice-the watchmen on the walls of world freedom. We ask,
therefore, that we may be worthy of our power and responsibility, that we may
exercise our strength with wisdom and restraint, and that we may achieve in our
time and for all time the ancient vision of “peace on earth, good will
toward men.” That must always be our goal, and the righteousness of our cause
must always underlie our strength. For as was written long ago: “except
the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

Limo The Beast

Apparently, there was a dust up
over our Presidents transportation at the Lisbon summit in recent days. It
seems that while many arrived to the NATO shindig in their respective electric
and hybrid shoe boxes, the American President arrived in an 8 ton bullet and
bomb resistant Cadillac limousine, the traditional ride for the leader of the
free world, and affectionately known to the Secret Service as “The Beast”.

Now I’m going to stay off of my usual ridicule of the
environmental movement and the exaggerated and scare tactic BS that has
“driven” their argument over the years, and instead offer a simple and straight
forward defense for our sometimes oblivious POTUS. Instead of rushing to sign
your name on the quarter panel of some made in America hybrid that no one is
going to buy when asked about your wheels, why don’t you pull some of that Euro
trash aside and say something like this:

When some of you guys pull your heads out of your asses and
start sticking your neck, (and those of your Military), out for freedom and the
rights of all people a little more, then you might understand why I have
hundreds if not thousands of low life jihadists and the like, wanting to take a
shot at me every time I poke my head out of a doorway.  No offense gentleman, but the price of fuel
and pollution be damned. I don’t want my kids to see the Portuguese Police on
T.V., sifting through the wreckage of a 500 lb. plastic smart car for my
Blackberry. Now put that in your pot pipe and smoke it…

Message to NATO: We have paid the price of liberation,
security and freedom in trillions of dollars and buckets of blood and we
continue that fight as the standard bearer, leading the charge against those
who would enslave human kind. For this we bear the hatred and vengeance of
those murders and tyrants. Our President of the United States is the Chief
elected Representative of this cause. And with that election and his commitment
to serve, all necessary measures will be deployed to protect him.

Rhode Island

When a politician can only garner
36% of the vote, and state election law does not allow for a “run off
election” in order to reconcile any candidacy in a multi candidate race
failing to reach the 50% bench mark, you often wind up with an idiot like
Lincoln Chafee as your winner. Such is the case here in Rhode Island. After
running for governor on a platform that included his controversial but
unabashed support for “comprehensive immigration reform” as well as
his opposition to “e-verify / card check”, Governor Elect Chafee can not even
find the moral decency to meet with a young rape victim abducted in the very
city where he was once mayor by illegal immigrant Marco Riz.

There is definitely much that can be argued with regard to
the legitimacy of illegal’s and the strain they place on many local
governments, and I am up for that fight any time. But this is more a case of a
man without a shred of honor who would pander to the lowest of the low while
hiding behind a statement like, “Well that could have happened anywhere”. I
mean what kind of man (not just a politician) would refuse to meet a women who
was taken in a market parking lot and brutally violated in broad daylight in a
nearby park so he might at least listen to her plea to keep in place an
executive order (e-verify / card check) that might protect other women from the
same fate in the future. The idea that he might disagree is irrelevant. But as
I have said in the past, the future Governor of this state is a shell of a man
without a basic set of principles, who is chasing the ghost of the father whose
Senate seat he lost because he lacked conviction or the guts to admit who he
really was.

Sadly, had there been a rule in place by where the two
highest vote getters under 50% would face one another in a run off election,
the true voice of  “We the People” here
in Rhode Island might have been heard. C’est la vie, we are stuck with him…

Truth is, one of the things these criminals thrive on is the notion that “We

“business as usual” right in front of our faces, but they are actually
surprised and offended when we call them on it, hence Congressman Rangel’s
confusing tirade today. Sadly, his effortless re-election does speak volumes
for the “sensibilities” of some folks in our country, but that’s a discussion

When we talk about how political
power corrupts, it’s impossible to experience a day like today and not be
“moved” by Congressman Rangel’s “reasoning” when confronted with corruption
allegations and evidence at his ethics trial, as well as Nancy Pelosi’s attempt
to reconcile how she has presided over the greatest loss of House seats in any
mid-term election since 1938. Even in the face of such daunting and
overwhelming condemnation, these two remain prime examples of, and the poster
children for everything that is wrong with Washington today. If we are ever to
emerge from the snake pit that has become our Representative Government, it
will only be when we have finally acknowledged many of these individuals for
who they are, a bunch of elitist and arrogant bureaucrats with only their own
selfish interests at heart.

I would add here, that I am also mindful of those we have
now elected to change course before it is too late. Make no mistake, you and I
must hold them and all future elected officials to an ever growing standard
that will ultimately save our way of life for our kids.

So to those “Freshmen” smiling for the cameras this week, be
warned. We will no longer accept the Pelosi and Rangel way of doing business.
We will be watching closely, and we will apply as much and even greater

Smell the roses

I try and look around these days
to get a feel for where we are as a nation, and it can be depressing. In this
life we know to be so short, it seems we’re moving at light speed with horse
blinders on. I’d have to say that this singular mind-set is part of our
problem… From a friend:

In Washington, DC, at a Metro Station, on a cold January
morning in 2007, this man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45
minutes.  During that time, approximately
2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.  After about 3 minutes, a middle-aged man
noticed that there was a musician playing.
He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on
to meet his schedule.

About 4 minutes later: The violinist received his first
dollar.  A woman threw money in the hat
and, without stopping, continued to walk.

At 6 minutes: A young man leaned against the wall to listen
to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

At 10 minutes: A 3-year old boy stopped, but his mother
tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but
the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the
whole time.  This action was repeated by
several other children, but every parent – without exception – forced their
children to move on quickly.

At 45 minutes: The musician played continuously. Only 6
people stopped and listened for a short while.

About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal
pace.  The man collected a total of $32.

After 1 hour: He finished playing and silence took
over.  No one noticed and no one
applauded.  There was no recognition at
all.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of
the greatest musicians in the world.  He
played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5
million dollars.  Two days before, Joshua
Bell sold-out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $200 each to sit and
listen to him play the same music.

This is a true story.
Joshua Bell, playing incognito in the D.C. Metro Station, was organized
by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste
and people’s priorities.

This experiment raised several questions:

*In a common-place
environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?

*If
so, do we stop to appreciate it?
*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could
be this: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best
musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one
of the most beautiful instruments ever made . . . How many other things are we
missing as we rush through life?

Tax Code…

economy

The midterm election was telling
in many ways. However, I think the tax code is emerging as a defining issue.
I’ve listened to the fallout and it’s obvious that the left, apparently in
denial regarding voter motivation, will now invest all of their efforts in the
old and counterproductive class warfare approach as they seek to stop the
bleeding that often comes with an awakened electorate. There are philosophical
differences that the Dems will now try mightily to exploit under the banner of
“helping” the middle class, and we must do everything in our power to expose
their fundamentally flawed economic approach.

You see in order for the liberals to justify their ideology,
they must vilify the notion of success and those who achieve it. The problem
comes when we look at the “rich folk” and the taxes they pay in relation to
those lower on tax table. It’s also a problem when we look at what those
“millionaires” / “billionaires” spend, what businesses they own, how many
people they employ, and how much they donate to charity. Oh, and how many other
small businesses and their owners pay taxes and make profits cleaning, painting
and repairing the “rich folks”  homes,
cutting their grass, fixing their cars and babysitting their children while
they’re out imposing their “right wing tyranny” on the world.

The lefts idiotic and dangerous George Soros type approach
to the most successful economic philosophy the world has ever known is
tantamount to a silent but deliberate war on everything that separates us from
the Socialists. Punishing success stifles growth and clobbers the job market.
Sadly, history also shows us that the approach of prohibitive taxation,
unreasonable government regulation and “redistribution” always results in
insurmountable debt, economic collapse, eventual government dependency, and in
many cases, human suffering and even genocide.

I have written much about how the United States will be
“ground Zero” for this coming ideological war, and the many reasons for it. But
in the end there is only one rightful direction for this Republic under Law.
That direction/solution will be multi-pronged we know, but ultimately must
include a fair and equitable tax code that does not punish success but rather
allows for all “tax payers” to feel as though they have a stake in their
Representative Government”. This is what the Founders intended and what an
“entitlement” philosophy will surely destroy.

Pelosi Boehner

As the quintessential working
stiff who wraps himself in the flag and everything it stands for on a daily
basis, I am very selective of those in whom I place my political trust. So when
faced with a leadership choice between a man whose parents slept on a pull out
bed, and who was the first in his family to attend college, against an elitist
career politician born of a privileged political family, and who wouldn’t know
a real job if it weighed a hundred pounds and fell on her head, I’m going to
come down on the side of the person who would best understand what I live every
day, and that sure is hell isn’t the latter.

I know you’re asking what this is all about today, so I’ll
get to it. Soon to be former Speaker Pelosi recently commented, on incoming
Speaker Boehner’s emotional speech after the recent Republican spank fest and
was quoted saying that “he cries at a lot of things and that she only cries at
important things”, or something to that effect. Now let’s put aside Pelosi’s
frigid yet dopey demeanor on most matters for a moment, and grant that a number
of plastic surgeries have probably left her with some “limitations” regarding
facial expression. Truth is, if she were actually capable of “understanding”
Boehner that night, she would have grasped that he was experiencing the result
of sacrifice and hard fought success on a level that she has never known. But
that would have been asking far too much from this ruthless and manipulative
political hack.

Speaker Elect Boehner has obviously been through much that
many Americans (like me) can absolutely relate to, and that raw emotion gives
us a rare but much more intricate look at the person who will lead the next
Congress. I for one am very comfortable, and admire a person who is proud to
acknowledge what has gotten them to where they are in this life.

This episode speaks to that disconnect between “We the
People” and those in Washington which I speak of often. There are far too many
lawyers, and folks who are not in touch with anything remotely resembling the life
of your average Joe / Jane these days, in the Capital. For this reason they are
always more inclined to treat us as the “unwashed masses” requiring the
tutelage and guidance of those of a supposedly superior and academic, but
horribly inexperienced, naïve and dangerous thought process, (themselves).

You see, this is always going to come down to “us” and
ultimately who “we” allow the great privilege and responsibility of
representing our interests, not only in Washington, but closer to home as well.
I hope with all my heart that “We the People” are learning our lesson in this
regard.

P.S.

Trust me Minority Leader Elect Pelosi, a debate on issues
concerning “real” America with this political junkie would most definitely
leave you in tears…

P.S.S.

The “Bush Book”…

11/12/2010

George Bush

A young friend of mine wrote an
interesting little spot about George W. Bush on Facebook. He was basically
saying that we must look at the man, and in doing so we may see his thought
process. He was also making an overall statement about how we view our elected
officials and ultimately what should motivate us when we consider them as
leaders.

Now I think most of you know my feelings on the former
President so I will not engage the “bashers” in a redundant exercise thats
about as sickening as watching Democrats try and spin the embarrassment of last
week’s dramatic rejection of the Obama agenda. That said, Chris really made me
think about two important factors to consider when “We the People” are making
decisions about those who would lead us.

The first and I think the most important is character. A
person’s character speaks loudly to their motivations and even their ability to
follow through on that which they espouse. Second is their understanding of
what is (The United States of America)? In the end, any candidate who wishes to
change America as opposed to making it better punts this question. Some would
even say that in order to make the country better we must change it, and herein
lies the disconnect.

The Founders were able to see clearly that a basic set of
principles supported by an obvious and foundational belief that a free people
would prosper socially as well as financially would be unique and special, and
frankly had been missing from nations throughout the annals of time. Throw in a
cultural bond that unites the best in all people behind one flag and you have a
recipe for success.

Those among us who understand this simple thought process
are those who we should consider as leaders while we struggle to make the best
way for our children. They may not always get everything else right, but an
effort rooted in this common cause will never be fatal to America.

In contrast, those who are, (willingly, or by persuasion)
inclined to see the United States as “just another country”, and who cannot or
will not acknowledge those things that set us apart from the rest of the world,
are not folks who will “make us better”. For as we have seen, deviation of the
present sort from those basic principles that have catapulted our nation to
greatness, will be costly in oh so many ways. We only need be paying attention,
as panic over our rising debt and moral decay is sending undeniable shockwaves
throughout Europe and Asia. Enough said…

So as 43’s book hits the shelves and folks run to both
praise and trash it, I ask only that you stop and consider where we are and
from where we have come. At no time in recent memory have we been faced with
such questions. I do know the answer to one though, and that is that a genuine
person of character, with good intentions, and who is a study of and
understands REAL American History, will always get the benefit of the doubt
from this voter. You should know however, this kind of analysis requires that
“We the People” not be lazy but rather be willing to accept the truth despite
our media-imposed prejudices.

We sometimes look at the cost of
war and wonder. It is only natural that we question ourselves. For my part I
like to look at the obvious dividends which are all too often brushed aside to
make way for the bloody headlines.

Now I know I will get email out the wazoo from some of my
hardcore readers, but President Obama did make a very poignant and applicable
statement while visiting South Korea yesterday. The President was speaking to
troops on the demilitarized zone that divides the two Koreas and offered this
as a means to reconcile the cost of my father’s war. “The brilliant lights of
Seoul” can be seen giving way “to the utter darkness of the North.”

When you think about it, that says it all. The light of
freedom shines bright in the hearts of human kind, while the darkness of
communism looms as a sickening and unnatural alternative.

With this I say thank you on behalf of myself and my family
for the protections provided by the United States Military, past and present.
For without your sense of conviction and sacrifice in the name of what I have
written above, the world would be a much darker place.

The reality of Sharia Law…

Sharia Law

By its very nature and phrasing,
the term “Sharia Law” implies it is just that,”law”, and must
therefore be followed. This is no more acceptable in an already established
“Republic under Law” than would be Christian law or any other that implies the
circumventing of U.S. law in recognition of a specific religious mandate. We
can go one step further and say with confidence that this type of “law” is
factually barbaric and in no way compatible, not only with our nations laws,
but with those basic tenets of any truly civilized society.

Translation: The Oklahoma law which was so overwhelmingly
supported by the voters recognizes that there is no place in civilized society
for the racist and inhuman practices of Sharia Law. It lays down a foundational
argument that basically says, not only should the practice of Sharia Law be
illegal, but that based on just its content and governing structure, it should
not even be considered in a free society where the (basic) and inalienable
human rights of (all) people, like say for instance, the right to not be buried
to your neck and stoned to death if you are a women who is “suspected” of being
unfaithful to her husband, are first and foremost.

My fear here is that with the temporary injunction that has
now impeded the will of the Oklahoma voter, we are empowering a growing “Uber
Liberal Judiciary” in this country to expend countless tax payer dollars
entertaining arguments that at very best should be reserved for a university
classroom discussion regarding the tensions between American and Muslim
nations.

Deer Hunting

I could not have asked for better
weather on opening day for deer in Rhode Island. The wind was almost
nonexistent and the woods seemed to come alive as I made my way to my tree
stand at 0415. Once situated, I just sat for the time and took it all in.The
fresh air, the smell of fall, it was great to be hunting again.

As the sun began to slowly cast the morning shadows, the
quiet was broken and I could hear a number of animals moving out in front of my
stand. Amazing!! I could just make out three good size bucks sparing and sizing
one another up directly in front of me, what could be better than this?? The
appropriate shooting light that’s what!!! The frustration of not being able to
take advantage of this early morning folly, was replaced by a sense of awe as I
settled in and watched these magnificent animals positioning themselves for the
coming rut. Oblivious to my presence, all three eventually made their way in
different directions and the show was over. While disappointed, I could not
help but feel privileged to have been front row for that show.

As shooting light came to pass, I began to call with a doe
bleat with the hope one or more does may have been in the area and witnessed
what I had. Suddenly, the smallest of the bucks that had been in front of me
earlier, was making his way back to my bleating from about 100 yards to my
right. As I continued to call, he turned sharply and moved across the front of
my stand at about 75 yards away. He was leery of the bleat (with no visible
deer) and he moved cautiously but with purpose to find that doe.

For what seemed like an eternity he moved across my line of
sight heading for thickets that would have made any shot impossible. I knew my
window was closing and I brought up my rifle to shoulder. He was partially
obstructed from about the bottom of his front leg to the ground, but I had
every confidence in the time I had spent with my rifle at the range. The shot
impacted exactly where I aimed and he jumped high into the air then ran at full
speed for about 20 yards before crumpling behind some fallen dead wood.

A few moments to recover my heart rate and reload, unhook
from the safety harness and down to the forest floor. It took about a half hour
in the thick stuff to find him but the effort was a small price to pay. He was
beautiful and of good size with smaller antlers, a two year old probably. As is
my custom, I dropped to my knees and gave thanks to God for the harvest, then
began the hard yet still necessary work that comes with the kill. There will be
venison on the table this holiday season.

What a great beginning to my favorite time of year. On his
return from Maine, my boy will accompany me on Veterans Day and this coming
weekend as I set out again. I cannot think of a better time to enjoy and be
thankful for the freedoms we enjoy in this country. Take in the fall people.
During this time of struggle, we must look to and remember the simple things
that gave us happiness, and return to them.

Deer Hunting

Well it is that time of year again
and it seems to have come faster this year. That may be because our perception
of time often makes it feel as though it is going much faster as we grow older.
This is likely the reason my time in the woods of Northern Maine and North
Western Rhode Island spent hunting the elusive Whitetail Deer has always been
so special to me. As the cool wind bites and the smell of autumn surrounds you,
time seems to slow down and you really feel your place in this world. The quiet
serenity of the woods allows a man (or woman) to experience things you could
not normally, even when relaxing at home in the yard or on the porch. I am
somehow a part of my surroundings like at no other time. When you combine this
with the skill and thrill of the hunt, it makes a person feel inspired in a way
I cannot explain except to say that you are thankful and happy to be alive.

So as another fall is upon me, I prepare to head out again
with snapshots of past hunts flashing through my mind and a young son eager to
enjoy that which makes his Dad so happy by my side. With skills learned over
the years, a little luck and Gods blessing, I look to succeed once again, not
just to put venison in the freezer, but also to pass on this feeling inside to
Zachary, so he may do the same for his young ones someday… Its Americana…

United Nations

I think that it is finally time
to give the United Nations its walking papers. Serve them with an eviction
notice and tell them they have 30 days to remove their despicable and dishonest
agency from our shores. It seems that their “Human Rights council”, which
boasts the inclusion of nations like Cuba and China, has chosen to focus on
alleged U.S. “human rights violations”.

Ok, I am not even going to get into the meat of their
motivations except to say that any notion about whether or not the U.S. should
even entertain such a discussion should come only after China, Cuba and Iran
are kicked out of the damn building for the millions of documented murders that
have taken place at the hands of these barbaric a-holes. Moreover, I have said
time and again that any debate over the treatment of Muslims in this country
should only come when the Muslim Community openly and unanimously condemns the
acts of those who would use the name of their religion to murder and maim
innocent men, women and children.

Look, I apologize for the vulgar references but this is just
such a slap in the face of the country that does more for the world than all
other nations combined. With the billions of American tax payer dollars that
have been fronted to this bunch of Socialist bastards, it is simply inexcusable
that somehow we should be at the top of any of their “lists”, except maybe the
unpaid creditor list!! OMG!!

Conservative

As if a sign of things to come,
and what has become a hallmark of “Whore House” Harry Reid’s time as Majority
Leader, the resilient Senator from Nevada has indicated that making the Bush
tax cuts permanent is out of the question, setting the stage for a larger
battle royal over what it will take to get this economy moving again and
“private sector” businesses hiring.

When we talk about gridlock and the ability of a divided
Congress to forward any meaningful legislation through the system, Republicans
should be very careful not to compromise their principles and remember what got
them elected in the process. They had better stick to their guns as these next
two years will be a fight over ideology. You see, the POTUS is clearly
signaling that he intends to press forward with his agenda and that he seeks
only “ideas” from Republicans on how to “tweak” parts of that agenda. Haven’t
we been down this road? Of course we have and Mr. Obama has consistently and
flatly rejected every sound idea put to him. You see he is an ideologue of the
steadfast sort who will twist the trouncing that Democrats received at the
polls into some kind of convoluted victory. He believes completely in his
Progressive heart, that the little people just do not understand his policies
and are a bunch of impatient and whining children. This was on full display at
his press conference yesterday and John Boehner would be prudent to take note
of it. Clearly the President and his political cronies will see Tuesdays
“shellacking” as he put it, only in the way they must to justify their cause.
Their mission will be to vilify the opposition over the next two years and hang
their failures around the mantle of the Republican Party as a means to hold the
WH and take back Congress.

My message to the likely “Speaker to be” is that he must
hold to the principles that have swept his party back into a position of power.
Be on that podium every day articulating why you do what you do it and make
this fight about what has so obviously failed and how to correct it. Just
because the President and “WH” Harry say it, don’t make it so… If Harry jabs,
counter with a right cross and left uppercut…

These are serious days and “We the People” must face the
reality of hard times ahead in order to fix the nightmare of a bloated and over
reaching federal government. Department and procedural reviews, coupled with an
honest look at what is a federal responsibility and what is a state
responsibility, and reinforced with spending and tax cuts are the only ways forward
for a country so quickly heading for financial Armageddon. Simply put, we
cannot continue on this road, unless of course we change who we are, and the
President understands this. So must we…

The winds of change…

Elections

Obviously I am pleased this day.
However there will be no gloating on my part. I intend to remind Republicans
every day that theirs is the peoples mandate to change course, and not
necessarily an embracing of the party itself. That said, if the President does
not accept the will of “We the People” today, then his remaining time in office
will be mostly an exercise in futility.

Just a couple of observations moving forward; as I
predicted, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut will continue to be part
of the problem and not the solution, though Republicans did make their presence
known in all three. Some local Rhode Island seats switched and this is always a
good sign that all is not lost. Sadly however, many in my home state remain
committed to moving backward and will send another liberal Democrat to a now
very Republican House of Representatives. Brilliant… Moreover, we here in
Little Rhody are in for a very rude awakening. Lincoln Chafee’s politics are
sure to further diminish Rhode Island in the eyes of small business job
creators, and I will be sure and remind all those who supported him what a
mistake that was when the time comes. On a high note I would like to send a
special shout out to Mike Chippendale for his victory in District 40, Foster RI.
This was a very local race with broader implications that I was watching
closely and it was truly a victory for the truth.

Nationally Republicans saw unprecedented gains in both the
house and Senate, though a few political hacks snuck under the radar, mostly
because the Republican establishment could not field strong enough candidates
to unseat them, but thats an argument sure to come another day. However,
stunning upset victories in places like Pennsylvania and Ohio spell huge
trouble for the Democrats as folks in those areas were clearly sending a
message to Washington and the POTUS last evening.

So on we go about the business of restoring our country. As
I have said, this journey will be long and not without many hurdles. The damage
is significant and it will take steadfast resolve on the part of those we now
send to Washington as well as “We the People” to sound and finally right this
ship. With that said, Harry Reid and company would do well to take careful note
of what has happened. The American people having spoken, and spoken plainly.
Change course now or we will finish the job in 2012.

Debt

Everyone is talking about the
political ad on television that depicts a Chinese College Professor in China
speaking about how great nations fall. Tax and spend economics, conviction and
principles kicked to the curb and private industry strangled into bankruptcy.
The professor ends the spot saying “now they work for us”, insinuating that by
the year 2030 an irreversible portion of our GDP will be regularly applied to
our monumental financial debt to the Chinese government.

Now I’ve heard people complain about this ad calling it a
scare tactic, and I tried mightily to listen to Stewart and Colbert yesterday
as they made their idiotic “case for complacency” by suggesting that these are
“hard times and not end times”, but I have only one question… What in the ad is
not true?? We are broke and our culture is dying…

Make no mistake America, while I’m not suggesting that these
are the “end times”, (yet), it is a fool’s play to look at the ratio of
(federal/international/trade debt to GDP)
http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/federal_debt_chart.html figures compared to
the last 150 years in this country and suggest that we should not be alarmed.
No nation in the history of mankind has ever withstood this much crushing dept.
Moreover, if there is anyone reading this post that grew up in this country and
can tell me that America is on the right path socially, then maybe all is lost
to the Progressives. Maybe Stewart and Colbert are right. Maybe we should give
the Chicoms a big fat sloppy kiss and ask them for a better interest rate
(pretty please??). Better yet, maybe we should just leave the key to the WH
under the mat and all move on up to Canada… Not me!

Calling all freedom loving Patriots to the polls…

P.S.

To the Lib nut jobs that will be tempted to “blame/bash
Bush” as usual, please put a sock in it. While we can certainly argue about the
financial burden of two wars ongoing and their necessity, the true and factual
reasons for this enormous financial nightmare, are generations of feel-good
entitlement spending by the left that has been ignored by the right for the
sake of political correctness/power, and the current POTUS is absolutely
complicit! I am done cutting you people any slack. The writing is on the wall.
We have allowed this to happen, and to suggest that our current and collective
economic state was born only of the last eight years is to be
ignorant/disingenuous and part of the problem! Look around the world and wake
up! These may not be the end times, but we have certainly placed our children
on the fast track to them!

The politics of terror

I am always interested to write
about the “War on Terror”, as I understand it to be just that, a war.
And it is refreshing to know that after what seemed like a few “Johnny come
lately” mishaps, where pure luck and the ineptness of some wannabe Jihadists
ruled the day, the Administration finally seems to be somewhat ahead of the
curve. That said, I remain convinced that no matter who occupies the WH, our
enemies only need to get it right once, and we are certainly not prosecuting
this conflict accordingly. It is only a matter of time before we begin to
experience what Israeli’s have been living for decades.

I have Election burn out and simply cannot engage in a

Pelosi

(Nancy Pelosi) ?  Judging by her present (national) poll
numbers it would seem that “We the People” are finished with her. While there
have been polarizing figures to hold the Speakership in the past, none have
projected such contempt for the American people and been so despised for it.
Pelosi is the quintessential liberal and a proud standard bearer of the
progressive flag in this country, and she is a vivid example of everything that
is wrong with the matching ideology.

We Conservative Pundits spend a great deal of time
bloviating about the reasons we feel politicians such as Plastic Pelosi and
Whore house Harry Reid should not occupy a seat of power in our Representative
Republic, but it is refreshing to note that Americans very clearly see this
even without our tedious prognostications of impending doom at their hands. Admittedly,
I feel some of you are a bit slow to the table at times, but in the end, “The
Folks”, as O’Reilly calls them, always seem to know when to show the
“poltical hacks” the door.

Any confusion over this comes in places like California and
Rhode Island, where in sharp contrast we observe that cheats, liars and the
(tax and spend) socialists seem to enjoy love and adoration as though they have
repeatedly saved a choking infant or rescued a puppy from the mill. Sadly,
being from Little Rhody, I am still searching for a way to reconcile this
conundrum.

Regardless, the change we have sought is likely to occur on
Tuesday, and it is welcome and necessary change. The Republicans would do well
to remember however, that their mandate is specific. If they stray or become
weak-kneed at the prospect of effectuating that mandate, their time in power
will be short as well.

The polls are always something we
go to unless they show our candidate down, and then we run like heck from them.
They are a necessary evil in the world of political junkies like me and they
are the medicine/poison that make us say silly things sometimes. With that said
I would remind all of you that polls should never be a reason not to vote. Many
a worthless politician has benefited by way of complacency on the part of couch
pundits all over this great country. SO GO VOTE!

Moving right along…

This election is different and we can see this clearly as we
watch the liberals begin to melt down like never before. The hysteria of the
left at the prospect of Republicans so quickly regaining control of either
house of Congress has many of them binge drinking at 0600. The “government
can solve all your problems folks” are playing every sympathy card they
can think of and blaming those evil Conservatives for all the evil that man
does. The trouble is that most of our problems are a direct result of socialist
style entitlement programs supported by both major parties over a very long
period, with liberals in particular absolutely ready to go to the mats and
defend every dang one of them regardless of the consequences to the country or
its future.

There is also a lot of discussion this cycle about
localizing vs. nationalizing many of the races in play. I like to use a similar
analogy when I talk about liberals. They like to personalize every argument
while simultaneously suggesting that the federal government can and should
somehow be able to fix every citizens issues. Not only does common sense and
simple mathematics tell us this is not possible, but it is simply not what the
Framers intended, and not what The United States of America is. Sorry…

But the libs persist— Be dammed with “Life, Liberty and
the Pursuit of happiness”, Faith, hope and Charity, personal responsibility, or
any of those silly powers granted to the states by that unfair Constitution.
Forget the fact that almost half of all Americans don’t even pay income tax,
and the top 50% of wage earners pay nearly 98% of all income taxes. They should
damn it… This is the twisted ideological argument of the left in America today,
and frankly, is inevitable in a free society. For good or bad, and no matter
your beliefs, there will always be the doers and the dependants. There will
always be those who are comfortable with a free lunch, and those who try and
justify it beyond charity for folks who truly are in need.

Listen, I get a great deal of email every day and I try to
read as much as I can. I post very few comments though as the
“editing” is just time consuming. Maybe someday when I’m a rich and
famous writer I can afford a Secretary…
That said, and as we move closer to Election day, I am compelled, (and I
think I deserve) to make it as personal as some of my “fans”,,, just
for today. To them I would say: If our country is so awful, as you and our
President seem to feel, you are as free to leave as you are to stay. Because
despite what I mentioned in the above paragraph, it is equally important for
you to realize that there are a great many of us who still feel strongly that
this nation remains the “Best arrangement for mankind under God, bar
none”, and our intention is to make it better, not change it into France,
Germany, England, Canada, Japan or worse. So please remember that calling me
names and spouting off about any America other than “just America”
will get you nowhere with me. I welcome all arguments, however they must be
rooted in fact, not conspiracy theory foolishness or singular stories that
speak to states responsibilities and unrealistic big government solutions. Lets
have some dialog about our future and how we can make it better for our kids.
Oh, and this by no means should overshadow the hundreds of emails I receive

Racial politics

“There is not a liberal America
and a conservative America – there is the United States of America. There is
not a black America and a white America and Latino America and Asian America –
there’s The United States of America”.

Who said this??

I’ll give you a hint. He’s the current President of the
United States. Why then is he so focused on dividing us along racial lines for
the up coming election? Silly question right? The POTUS has and will always
harbor racial sentiments. Now I know my detractors will attempt to shut down my
email on this one because they hate it when I’m right, but be honest folks. One
only has to read the writings of Barack Obama to understand his views on issues
of race.

What ever the case, the President is now calling on “Black
and Latino Americans” to pipe down, take the pain and vote Democrat again. I’m
therefore calling on the Black and Latino Communities to reject this divisive
politics and remind the POTUS that we are one America, and that any attempt to
dance around his ideology and suggest that voting for Democrats is the only way
to ensure that they are represented appropriately (not necessarily
effectively), is disingenuous at best.

I would also like to remind Black, White, Latino, Asian,
Indian, and EVERY legal citizen of this country that “We the People” are all
simply Americans first. When we think a minute and come to realize this
reality, we should all ask a very old but applicable question. Are we better
off today than we were two years ago? “I” personally would throw in this one as
well. Will the policies of the party in power bring about change that is better
for my children’s America or are they likely to diminish, possibly for ever,
the greatness and potential of all future generations?

Mr. President, Shame on you…

Deuteronomy 28:1 “Now it
shall be, if you diligently obey the LORD your God, being careful to do all His
commandments which I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high
above all the nations of the earth.

28:13 “The LORD will make you the head and not the
tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath, if you listen
to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I charge you today, to observe
them carefully, In God’s economy, nations are there only to serve His
purposes.  The principle that was meant
to guide Israel to greatness was if any nation would be careful to obey his
commandments, God’s blessing would be upon them and they would be elevated
above other nations.  They would be a
“Light to those around them”.

“A Shining City on A Hill” if you please: Pastor Dave
Aucoin on Ronald Reagan’s reference.

Saul Alinski – Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder
acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology and
history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins – or
which is which), the first radical known to man who rebeled against the
establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom -
Lucifer.”

I have often reminded myself and my readers that I am no
religious scholar, and frankly speaking I always feel a bit uneasy with this
topic. That said, these two passages say a lot about where we are today, and
the subject of this country’s role in the world is something we cannot ignore.
So I will boldly go where I should not go with the hope that I create a point
that you all can make some sense of during this election cycle.

My Pastor recently gave a rousing and inspirational sermon
that spoke to our “responsibility” to God, ourselves and our children when it
comes to politics in The United States of America. He spoke passionately but
eloquently and well within the scope of the boundaries set before him by those
who claim to be defending our Constitution. Incidentally, can we acknowledge
the ridiculousness of a governmental agency penalizing a Judeo Christian
religious body for espousing its beliefs to its congregation on Sunday calling
that action a “taxable offence”, and admit forthrightly that the founders would
probably have gone back to war over the issue? I mean really…

In my limited grasp of the Bible even I can read into the
above passages and see what both are trying to suggest. The Bible seems to be
highlighting how God would look favorably on any nation that would live by his
laws, and how that nation would be a light for all to follow. In contrast,
folks like the currently “room temperature” Saul Alinski knew deep in the place
where their heart should be, that in order to bring about “their kind of
change” in a place like the United States, one would first have to vilify the
peoples God and eventually remove him as an obstacle. Moreover, why not portray
Lucifer as just some good old boy radical trying to shake things up? And while
you’re at it, take away accountability and centralize a power structure that
would be hailed as the great equalizer. The rest is a simple but usually
horrific exercise in social justice. This type of coup is never accomplished in
short order as we have seen throughout history, but is rather a slow and
purposeful presentation over time. I should think that Alinski would be proud
of the progressive accomplishments of recent and would be praising those of his
belief system for their patient efforts. You see, the book “Rules for
Radicals”, where the above passage comes from is just that, a set of clear and
practiced rules for the modern socialist radical, that if applied as advertised
should “portray” the purveyor as nothing more than someone who is bucking
“Goliath” in favor of “David” with the worthy goal of “equality” for everyone.
The problem always comes though, as history has shown us time and again, when
all is said and done there is never anyone left to pay the bills, and
subsequent or future rejection of the established belief system usually results
in a stay at the local “re-education camp” or worse. Eventually, power does
become truly centralized and God given individual freedom and spirit are lost
forever.

Make no mistake, I am a true and ardent supporter of freedom
for all to believe and live as they wish, within of course the framework of our
Republic under law which protects that same freedom for everyone. That said,
one cultural bond that holds it all together is absolutely necessary. I am
convinced of the Founders wisdom in this regard when they wrote, “life, liberty
and the pursuit of happiness” as they intended that to mean all are free to be
the best they can be, but with no guarantees or guarantors. You see the Framers
put their faith in something else. They understood that a free people would
prosper on the merits of their God given abilities and that any “central
government” was a necessary evil that should be limited in scope and power over
the states. Would all those people be the same, more than likely no? But
“Faith, Hope and Charity” along with a common bond would always be an ideal,
one that existed and was granted by a higher authority than any mortal. Inevitably,
when man begins to see “himself” as God, and when vanity and ignorance replaces
things like common sense, decency, work ethic, and the ambition to be better
every day, we have clearly left the road.

There is a reason for The United States of America. I know
it like I know my love for my wife and son. I have said that no nation is
perfect, but there are most certainly things about ours that set us apart. Do
not hold the negatives against the positives but rather vote to fix what is
broken only, and build on the positives. You may not understand completely what
our common heritage is from a religious stand point, but that does not change
who we are or how and why we came to be. Understand that in a free nation such
as this, there will always be those who seek change that is not in keeping with
that heritage, and while they may have a right to voice their opinion, common
sense and the “common bond” must always win the day, or we will become like
other nations, just another foot note in history. Look around the world and
what do you see? Examples, that’s what.

Please, when you are voting tomorrow, try and look at the
big picture. Ask the tough questions and admit the tough answers. Take the time
to learn and acknowledge the truth and then pass that on to the young ones.
Those who have come before us have left a basic but defined framework that we
must follow and not deviate from. Laws will change with the lessons and passage
of time, but the unique and blessed tenets outlined in our original founding documents
must never change. They are our strength and humility and they are what set us
apart. Many have died to preserve them as written because they understood with
great clarity, the value of such ideals to all mankind. So break from the
talking points and let us begin together to move our country back to her
heritage and that which has made her exceptional among nations. Vote to secure
our common bond and a better future for our children. In the end we hold our
destiny in our own hands.

This is a bit dated,
but the message is clear…

Hello Fred,

I always appreciate your desire to convey Biblical
(spiritual) truths when you’re eyes are opened to them.

2 weeks ago I think God was opening a lot of eyes
(spiritually) to the truth that God rules even the nations and ultimately
accomplishes his will by raising some nations up and setting others down.  He has greatly blessed America as our
fore-fathers sought him for a place to live and worship freely.

Our spiritual heritage came from men (and women) who
recognized “the Creator.” They also recognized the Creator as the
same God of the Bible, hence the derivation of so many of our laws from
Biblical principles, such as the 10 Commandments, the ‘Law of Moses” and
other New Testament writings. I think is is plain that we slowly and steadily
moved away from that foundation with consequences.

America has seen a dramatic increase in violence,
immorality, and crime.  We have de-valued
‘Life & Marriage’ and now are marginalizing those who worship the God our
fore-fathers worshipped and the Book that told us how to worship him.  In effect, we have rejected the God who gave
us this land and we are experiencing the consequences for that.

Can we turn it around?
The Rx is found in 2 Chronicles 7:14…”If my people, which are
called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and
turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive
their sin, and will heal their land.”
Notice the phrase “If my people.”  The future is not in the hands of those who
don’t believe but it is in the hands of those who say that they believe but
don’t live like it.

So in regards to being a “Shining City on a
hill”…. If the Gospel Light has gone out then it will be taken off the
stand. But we can trim the wick and get it shining again.

Blessings,

Pastor Dave

Vote

Let’s say I stopped by your house
in plain clothes and said I was the Fire Marshall, and that I needed to come
into your home and do an unannounced smoke detector inspection. At that point,
and at the very least you would ask to see some sort of identification that
would verify that I was indeed from the fire department and was who I claimed
to be, no?? At that point I produce a paper with my signature that states that
I am the Fire Marshall. Is this acceptable, or do you say, hey listen, do you
have some official identification with a picture before I let you (a stranger
whom I’ve never met before) into my home?

My point with this example is simple. How then is it
unreasonable to ask a person who intends to exercise arguably the most
important right guaranteed them by the Constitution as well as every Soldier
who ever gave his/her life on the field of battle, (the right to vote for the
person(s) they wish to represent them through elected office) to first show
easily obtained proof of their legal citizenship? Moreover, how has it come to
the point where our Judges have so diminished the sacred and hard fought value
of such a right? I submit to you all, that when we no longer hold this and
other rights in the highest possible regard, and when we carelessly subvert our
Constitution with a callous disregard for all that has been sacrificed in its
name, then we are truly past the point of no return.

Frank Caprio

Well Frank Caprio certainly had
an opportunity to capitalize on his recent 15 minutes of fame, and he blew it
big time. Local radio personality Dan York gave Caprio a number of
opportunities to cement himself as the “peoples” candidate, and he flubbed every
one. Whether his comments regarding the endorsement of the POTUS were genuine
or not will remain a mystery. But one thing is certain after this interview,
and that is the race for Governor in Rhode Island is now between John
Robitaille and Lincoln (I’m not sure what I believe but I’m gonna tax the heck
out of everyone anyway) Chafee. Caprio’s evasive and elitist tone clearly
soured Mr. York and most likely many within radio station ear shot. Sadly
however, it may have helped Chafee immensely as Rhode Island remains a bluer
than blue state long under the thumbs of big labor and corrupt politicians, and
any Caprio defectors will most likely support the indecisive and (principles
challenged) Chafee over Robitaille.

With less than a week to go I am finding myself more and
more in tune to my local races here in Rhode Island. Despite the probable
outcome of many of those races, I am looking forward to a lot of “I told ya so”
moments as Little Rhody will continue it’s down slide, not at the hands of the
politicians, but rather at the hands of her consistently foolish electorate.

Caprio

Well it appears that all politics
really is local, at least when it comes to the Rhode Island Governor’s race. As
I mentioned in one of yesterday’s entries, Frank Caprio is the party endorsed
Democrat running for the seat. Isn’t it ironic then that the POTUS has chosen
not to endorse that candidate on his visit to Little Rhody today? This smacks
of political payback and ideological bridge building. As if the lessons of
Arlen Specter were not still a gaping wound for the President, it appears that
he is quietly sending a message to the turncoat Lincoln Chafee, who endorsed him
for President. This is just another sign to the voters of RI that should ring
loud and clear. President Obama is expressing his gratitude to the spineless
and disingenuous Chafee and will certainly expect his support moving forward
should he win the governor’s race.

While I will be supporting John Robitaille for Governor, I
certainly want to step up here and join Mr. Caprio in telling the President to
“shove it”.

RI Politics

The race for Rhode Island
Governor is puzzling. On the one hand you have the very fine looking Frank
Caprio, the son of a local Judge who has basically been groomed for this moment
since birth. Mr. Caprio has no blemishes to speak of, and during his time as
the General Treasurer for the state, has been mildly appreciative of our
current status as a nearly bankrupt and politically corrupt little entity. That
said, it appears painfully obvious based on his performance in recent debates
that he will remain true to many of the policies that have gotten us here in
the first place and which are simply not acceptable.

On Lincoln Chafee, let me just say that I have had the
occasion to meet and speak with this guy over the years and I will try and be
as respectful as I can. To think that anyone can look at his political history
and still vote for him is astounding. Moreover, he has all but assured anyone
who is “listening” that he will raise taxes on just about everything if
elected. His time as Senator only served to highlight the many differences
between he and his late Veteran dad. Lincoln Chafee is a man chasing a ghost
without an ounce of conviction in his body. His trouncing at the hands of a do
nothing Socialist one termer like Sheldon Whitehouse, should be proof positive
that any time under the leadership of this guy will be all for not.

John Robitaille
https://www.robitailleforgovernor.com/get-involved/donate, who is trailing both
Caprio and Chafee by 10 points in the most recent polls, is the only one
running whose message is plain and simple yet speaks to what we must “really”
do to bring RI back from the precipice. Cut taxes for small businesses, cut
spending (it must be done), and create an environment that is attractive to our
young people graduating college and thinking about whether or not they can
afford to live in the state in which they were born. He was born to simple
means, not into wealth, power and political influence as was his opponents, so
I would venture to say he can kind of understand “We the People” a bit better,
hmmm?  He is a veteran and successful
businessman. Robitaille has a simple slogan at the end of his campaign
commercials. “Career politicians created this mess, they can’t fix it. But
together, we can”. I don’t know about you, but that kind of says it all.

I have said and will continue to say that our future is up
to us. The people of RI are going to have to ask themselves some pretty tough
questions in that voting booth next week. Answering with a vote for anyone
other than John Robitaille is tantamount to a casual acceptance of our current
“state” of affairs and does a horrible disservice to our children.

Voting

We read today that Claude
Rwaganje of Portland Maine wants to vote. Trouble is Claude is not a citizen.
Now my first instinct here is to send this guy packin’ until he’s a legal
citizen and then I will defend his right to vote, with my life if necessary.
It’s not that simple however, so let’s look at some troubling issues
surrounding the controversy.

Rwaganje does in fact pay state and federal taxes on his
income and on his vehicle so one has to look at the fairness of such an
arrangement. This also speaks to the governments (state and federal) and their
desperate need for revenue. So desperate are they to generate this revenue as a
means to offset incredibly expensive feel good entitlement programs, and
counter the gross mismanagement of our money over generations, that there is
rarely (if ever) any forethought that goes into the possible disenfranchisement
of a person’s rights beyond “paying their fair share”… Simply put, you’ll take
their money, but then not let them have a say as to how you spend it. Doesn’t
really make sense, does it?

Now there is always another side to the story. Claude
Rwaganje is an immigrant who fled his native Congo because of violent political
upheaval and has lived in Portland for more than 13 years. He has been what one
might call a “community organizer” of sorts and has lobbied for immigrants
active in their communities to have the right to vote. Claude also runs a
nonprofit organization offering immigrants advise on financial planning. He has
been very vocal about immigrant’s military service as well as the active roles
many play in their local communities as business owners and tax payers. Having
said this, one could ask, if they have played such active roles, and if they
have been living successfully and working within the community as is in
Claude’s own case, for over 13 years, why then have they not sought citizenship
or worked diligently in that direction. Why have they not sworn allegiance to the
country that has allowed for their safety and security while they have bettered
their lives separate and apart from the nation of their birth?

So you see the matter is not so clear as some would have you
believe, and like many issues of the day is one you should think long and hard
about before voting on any referendum or the like. My own feelings are somewhat
mixed. But if I were to lobby for this type of legislation, it would sound
something like this.

If you are of legal status and have been paying taxes within
your community for a period of 3 years, and you have also completed and passed
a basic but nationally approved scholastic course in (U.S.) history, (not
revisionist history), and you can read, write and speak understandably the
culturally accepted language of English, and you swear your allegiance to the
United States of America and no other country, then you may certainly enjoy
those rights so many have died to defend. (My point here is that this is not a
matter to be treated lightly!) I should note that I feel strongly that there be
one very poignant exception. If you have chosen to put on the uniform of the
United States Military and have fought in combat to defend the above mentioned
rights, then there is certainly nothing that I or anyone else can tell you
about freedom. You go to the front of the line with no pre-conditions and with
my eternal thanks for your service and sacrifice.

Election Politics

The Presidents numbers are on
their way to 40%. Unions are dumping wheel barrels full of money into
Democratic coffers. NPR is demonstrating for all who care about the direction
of the media in this country, that the main stream press is up for sale to the
likes of George Soros and his Socialist buddies. And now we have illegal aliens
going door to door stumping for Democrat Patty Murray in Washington State. Its
madness out there folks…

The good news is this blog is off the charts and folks are
fired up. (Thank you all so much for that BTW.) Do not assume that being fired
up is enough though. I will say it again. Turnout is the key!! The time for
having your say is fast approaching. Take that fire to the polls with you on
November 2nd and turn back the Progressive tidal wave that threatens our
Republic.

Here in Rhode Island; I beseech the voters of the 1st
Congressional District to vote for John Loughlin, http://johnloughlin.org/. His
opponent and current Mayor of Providence David Cicilline, personifies what is
wrong with my home state and with much of politics today. To his credit John
Loughlin has kept the argument to the simple facts necessary to get our state
back on the right track, smaller more efficient government, lower taxes and
small business tax breaks and initiatives to bring back entrepreneurs and self
starters to our state is the plan. He was a RI National Guard helicopter pilot,
and is an accomplished businessman who wants to change the perception of
politicians in RI. In sharp contrast, David Cicilline is career lawyer and
politician. I could stop right there and you would understand, but his record
begs a little “description”. A concrete party line vote at the RI
State House, Mayor Cicilline hails from a family of lawyers whose claim to fame
was their defense of organized crime figures within the state. His cause celeb
was and remains his anti Second Amendment campaigns that are legendary for
their fiery debates on Smith Hill (admittedly of which I was a part). His time
as mayor of the City of Providence has been punctuated by the kind of scandals
he swore to avoid after replacing the controversial and then Mayor Vincent A.
“Buddy” Cianci Jr. Cicilline’s fights with the municipal unions and his
disregard for the tax payers of his city are evidenced by the current fiscal
situation plaguing Providence. Deficits and depleted resources are the well
publicized hallmarks of his Administration. On this race, the choice should be
a clear one, the politics of old or finally a new direction for Rhode Island.
Which will you chose??

Could NPR be more of a joke???

Juan Williams

I’m no fan of Juan Williams. But
I do enjoy some of his exchanges with the likes of O’Reilly and Hannity. Those
moments speak loudly to Fox (Fair and Balanced), and are part of the reason
they throttle the competition every day. So when I just read that NPR fired
Williams, my first thought was that they are consistently a heartbeat away from
receivership on a daily basis anyway, so someone must have said lets slash
payroll. I mean, come on…

Mr. Williams was speaking with O’Reilly about how, while he
does not consider himself a bigot, he does feel uncomfortable on a plane when
he observes Muslims in full religious and/or national attire. Now if there is
anyone out there who can say they would not feel a bit apprehensive in the same
situation, they are either full of you know what, or they are politically
correct nut jobs that would help Osama Bin Laden onto a 777 with a 100 pound
carry on.

Sorry NPR, Juan probably makes more money on Fox anyhow…
What a bunch of boneheads….

Good News Today

1

One thing I have always marveled
at in my study of the Founders motivations has been their unshakable and
frankly undeniable faith in a power greater than their own. Now this may have
to do with the fact that faith was absolutely necessary in the difficult period
in which they lived. But one could argue that these great men (and women) were
more focused on the gifts bestowed upon them by God than we of the “instant
gratification” generation could ever completely understand. This “faith of our
fathers” has never been more a part of the modern political debate than today.
Everywhere you turn there are references and challenges to God on bogus
Constitutional grounds, as Progressives and liberal attorneys parse words
against the Founding Fathers true intent. Through the eyes of this
Constitutionalist however, these “arguments” are easily squashed when we take
the time to do our homework. So as we prepare for what will arguably be one of,
if not the most pivotal elections in the history of the United States, let us
look more closely at those we would elect to do the business of “We the
People”.

In this day and age when some consider it hateful and
bigoted to question the intentions of a “more than questionable” character like
Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, yet it is quite acceptable to chastise and forbid our
children from using the word Christmas in a public school, it is absolutely
necessary that we pause and re-evaluate where we are going as a country. I have
long held the opinion that law makers will take their pandering to whatever
level necessary for re-election, whether or not it falls in line with their
religious beliefs. You notice I refer to (religion) and not (conviction). Many
politicians find “religion” when it’s convenient, but when they fear a
political price for those beliefs, they lose all “conviction”, if they ever had
any to begin with. So my question to Christian voters in November is this: Do
you want a person without conviction representing you in Washington? At the
risk of going where I may not be qualified to go, I feel that any person who
does not fear judgment, and lacks any semblance of a core value system, has no
place in politics.

Now there are piles of books and gigabytes of web info that
describe not only the Christian faith of the Founders, but also the faith and
devotion in the hearts of the early Colonials overall. If given a few hours to
prepare, I’m very sure I could defeat any so called “scholar” on the matter of
any perceived or created “separation of church and state”. That silly argument
has its roots in the twisting and contorting of the First Amendment by so
called defenders of the Constitution, to have it say something that it doesn’t.
The founding documents and their original intent were clearly influenced by the
values and belief systems of the Framers themselves. That type of influence on
our government is something we must revisit posthaste. For the first time in a
long time, we certainly have that chance, not only to restore some morals and
integrity to the process overall, but also to educate our children by example,
about what it means to hold our elected officials to a higher standard.

Long time Speaker of the House Thomas “Tip” O’Neill once
said “all politics is local”, and we here in Rhode Island and Massachusetts
have had our fair share of contrasts when it comes to a religious and/or a
moralistic approach to politics. The Kennedy saga was and remains a made for
T.V. movie in this regard. Patrick’s battles with Bishop Tobin were the
equivalent of journalistic chocolate, and Jim Langevin’s confusion over whether
or not he supports the killing of the innocent unborn is just that… confusing.
“Blue state” social issues have always stood out in Little Rhody. I guess
that’s because we are so small but have such a high concentration of
hypocrites.

Look, all I’m saying here is that maybe our problem is we
have allowed a steady stream of “less than honorable” folks into our halls of
government (locally and nationally) over the years, and now we are paying the
price for it. We have empowered the Progressives with our complacency, and
allowed them to inject a poison potion of political correctness and anti
Christian sentiment into the bloodstream of this free republic. That said,
there is some “Good News Today”…

All across the country we are seeing a re-assertion of our
early core values and principles. Voters are waking up. Decent hardworking
Americans from sea to shining sea are making their voices heard at the ballot
box in what appears to be a wave of discontent with the leftist policies of the
Obama Administration. Now there are those who would have you believe that this
is just a bunch of radicals on the fringe right and there numbers won’t mean
much in November. But this primary season, combined with hundreds of
demonstrations at the grassroots level, has given even our staunchest critics
reason to pause. Glenn Beck’s 8/28 rally is unofficially the 5th largest
gathering on “the mall” in its history, despite Beck’s Mormon background and
the Progressives best efforts to marginalize the event. Even folks like FRC’s
Tony Perkins are expressing cautious optimism about the rejoining of the Judeo
Christian value system and Conservative American politics.

So as I watch the polls swing away from those who would
destroy this “greatest arrangement for mankind under God” as I call it, my
Editor has sent me in search of, and I have had the good fortune to speak with
some local candidates who would not hide behind the cloak of phony
Constitutional interpretations. They are truly the bright spots.

David Sullivan, a Boston native, found the Lord in 1989
after the struggles of a journey as the prodigal son. He was 25. During the
years that followed David would eventually find himself in East Providence. An
experienced broker/investor, Rhode Island’s problems were obvious to David and
he began to look more closely at the who, what, when, where, and why. He did
not like what he found. David spent his free time asking the hard questions of
the folks he would interact with on the issues. It was during this period of
learning that David found the “Tea Party” and developed the network that would
spur him on to seek elective office. David’s attributes were easy to see and a
number of folks convinced him that he should challenge for the (East
Providence, D-14 Senate seat) currently held by Daniel DaPonte, elected at the
tender age of 20. Speaking with David, it was clear to me he is a man of
conviction both in a fiscal sense, and in his love of the Lord. He makes no
bones about his faith and considers it his strongest asset. He is fond of
saying that “Rhode Island’s problems are big, but God is bigger”.

A single man dedicated to his cause of smaller more
efficient government, executed by God fearing men and women, David is
determined to defeat the status quo and capitalize on the resurgence of values
and accountability we are currently seeing in the polls. Like those who paved
the way in the 18th century, he is unashamed of his faith, and he is asking for
your vote.

Unfortunately, John Arcaro lost his recent Pawtucket primary
battle with one of Rhode Island’s well-funded and infamous political players,
Majority Whip J. Patrick O’Neil. That said, my conversation with him was no
less inspiring. John found the Lord one night in 1991 in an empty church at the
corner of 55th and 5th Avenue in Manhattan. He was 28 and put it simply: “God
spoke to me and said your way or My way”. John knew what that meant. A
political child of the 60’s, he grew up the son of a three term State Senator,
was groomed to hate all things Republican, and considered himself an atheist.
Years later and after he was saved, John found himself in France for three
years. He returned with real life experience and a crystal clear view of what
Socialism does to God given self-reliance and human ambition. So began his
journey toward values oriented politics and the role he would play in changing
the status quo.

In 2002, John was appalled to see that most establishment
candidates ran generally unopposed. He was so bothered by this that in 2004 he
would put his name in contention against an 18 year incumbent and was ridiculed
and harassed for that initiative. His significant showing though, only hardened
his resolve to fight on against special interests and the entrenched criminals
bought and paid for by big labor and the like up on Smith Hill. John has spent
a great deal of time at the State House since then fighting the pro-life fight
as well as advocating for the RI tax payer. He continues to live in Pawtucket
with his wife, an orphan of Haiti, and their two children. John has no plans to
go away, and feels as I do, that business as usual on Smith Hill is an
endangered practice, but that in the end it will be voters who must re-invent
the body politic.

These are two of many who will set out with Christ as their
campaign manager this fall. They are asking that we put aside the petty
politics of voting for the candidate who most closely resembles our ethnic
ancestry, or who is a distant relative, a good dancer, or maybe even rather
attractive, and instead evaluate their core values and convictions first. Cast
aside what you know to be the stereotypical process and vote your conscience.
Our very future as a nation may depend on our ability to let go what we know is
not working, and embrace what we know will provide a brighter future for
children and grandchildren. God does have a plan, but that plan may include
getting off our back sides and voting to elect candidates that will consider
Him when they debate partial birth abortion, stem cell research or the
re-definition of marriage. Complacency is not an option. It is time to cast
back the revisionists and speak loudly to what is true and good about our
country. Great and powerful nations are rarely defeated on the battlefield, but
rather collapse under the weight of a society devoid of the principles and laws
that have their foundations in a power greater than their own.

November Election

2

Do not get discouraged. We all
suspected the polls would tighten in the final days. This is always a result of
the party bases responding to the calls. Turnout remains the key! You all need
to get to the polls, no excuses! I do continue to harbor some concerns though,
when it comes to those “middle of the road” folks as I call them. All through
this cycle I have been watching those polls specific to the” independent voter”
so I might get a feel for their mood. And as I predicted, there remain some of
“no real conviction” who will always help, (consciously or unconsciously), the
liberal progressive movement. My hope is that come Election Day these people
will put aside the “independence” they use as a sort of “fit in” mechanism and
realize that the issues of this time are much more cut and dry. I implore them
to shelve their “political police” mentality for this election and not vote
against a party or person as a “check” or a statement of their unbiased
individualism. To the so called “swing voter” out there I would only say this:
we are at “the crossroads” in this country and this is definitely not the time
for you all to be getting in touch with your politically correct side. These
are serious times that will surely be remembered as having been a turning point
in our national history. The decisions you make on November 2nd, though they
may only reflect a short term approach, will determine whether or not we
continue down the road of big government, and progressive entitlement spending
that is already bankrupting our children’s future, or whether we turn back from
the cliff and begin to restore the American ideals of hard work,
entrepreneurism, personal responsibility and exceptionalism as something to be
proud of. Oh, and I threw in a little video some of you may have seen, sent in

Rhode Island

2

With just days now until the
November Election, I plan to touch on some of the local races in my home state
of Rhode Island. I also have a bigger picture article coming that I plan to
post on the evening before the election that I hope will make some folks think
as they get ready to go to the polls. With this in mind let me again voice my
utter frustration with some of the polls I’m seeing locally. I think when we
look at Rhode Island; we see a microcosm for what ails us nationally. We see
folks ignoring the facts and their conscience while voting party affiliation
and special interests every cycle. Ignorance and a refusal to accept reality
seems to permeate our little state. In no other state are the problems more
clear, and the solutions so obvious. In no other state are those responsible
for the problems so easy to identify, yet the polls continue to show a populous
conditioned and determined to vote themselves straight into economic and social
ruin.

It remains a challenge for me as I was born and raised in
Little Rhody, and I simply refuse to leave. Instead, I stay and fight in the
hopes that some of the “awakening” we are seeing around the country may
possibly rub off on us this time around. As part of that fight, and to my
fellow citizens in the smallest state in the union, please read some of the
quick posts coming up and think very carefully about your vote in two weeks. It
could very well determine whether or not your kids have any chance at all to
enjoy “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness” in Rhode Island.

Stupid

1

“Americans are so
“scared” they’re not thinking straight about the upcoming elections”.
This is part of a larger quote from the POTUS recently, but I don’t want to
make you even angrier than you probably already are. This is the translation
however: You people are stupid and you’re not learning what I’m trying to teach
you…

Listening to this President’s reasoning over the past year
and a half has been painful. His arrogance and condescending tone when addressing
“We the People”, has soured many who supported his meteoric rise to the office.
His dismissal of any criticism and quickness to blame others when facing tough
questions regarding the failure of his policies to effect the change he so
charismatically espoused is becoming the stuff of Presidential legend.
President Obama is sounding more and more like a desperate child caught in a
lie who is frantically trying to explain away his errors in judgment.

Having said this, the notion that we are scared does have
validity. However, that fear is the result of an awakening on the part of many
in this country who have come to realize our predicament and are now moving to
bring about that change only “We the People” can. You see Mr. President, it’s
not fear of change, but rather fear of your kind of change. Now there is an
argument to be made that the POTUS was very clear about what he intended to do
if elected, but that many “middle of the road” folks were so awestruck with the
notion of our first black President and the realization of “the dream”, that
they were therefore easily duped. And this is a theory I subscribe to. But
regardless, calling those folks stupid will not help you at the polls in two
weeks, but rather will hurt you immensely. President Obama, the American People
are not stupid, far from it. They are focused on their future and educating
themselves in greater numbers every day. And that Sir is what YOU fear.

Barney Frank

There are just so many poster
children for the Democratic nightmare going on in Washington these days, it’s
easy to be overwhelmed by the likes of the WH Harry Reid and Nip Tuck Nancy
Pelosi circus. They are simply the highest profiles out there less the POTUS.
So when I saw this little spot on the news where Barney Frank’s “significant
other” is heckling Sean Bielat, a U.S. Marine Lieutenant vying for Frank’s
Congressional seat in Massachusetts, I had to stop for a minute and down a
handful of antacid pills.

Beside the fact that Lieutenant Bielat was attempting to
answer questions from legitimate reporters at that moment, and Mr. Ready was
clearly there only to antagonize and agitate, has anyone who has or who is
considering voting for Congressman Frank actually looked at who he is? I mean
this guy is what’s wrong with Washington and American politics today. He is a
dysfunctional disingenuous liar, who was a major player in the Fannie / Freddie
debacle that most certainly precipitated some of the unprecedented economic
disaster we have all been watching this past year. Barney Frank is quite
litterally a “YouTube” gold mine of comments and quotes that define ignorance
and arrogant idealistic politics. His “frank” advocacy of the big government
approach along with his disrespectful contempt for the everyday voter who may
oppose him is legendary.

As a blue state New Englander though, I continue to be
mindful of Barney Frank type reality. Politicians like this feed off the notion
that they somehow lend credibility to maladjusted liberals and have built
themselves district strongholds that I fear will never be compromised.

That said, I will endeavor to never miss an opportunity to
bring nasty liberal dinosaurs like Barney Frank into the light, while
simultaneously encouraging any and all within eye shot of my writing, to vote
for folks like Sean Bielat.

OMG! California NOW President
Parry Bellasalma has called California Gubernatorial Candidate Meg Whitman a
“political Whore” if that makes a difference. The double standard that exists
when these (questionable at best) organizations are asked to step up and defend
that which they espouse to defend, is about as sickening as watching Hardball
with Chris Matthews. These people are truly deceitful and disgusting.

No matter your political persuasion, or the amount of money
you may have in your bank account should be the determining factor in whether
or not the use of such a derogatory and demeaning slur against woman. Meg
Whitman may be political, but the only things we can say for sure about her,
are that she is an accomplished business woman who presided mightily over one
of the most successful corporations in American History. She is Princeton
Graduate, a loving wife and mother of two boys, and she certainly does not
deserve to be referred to as a “whore” not matter the context or venue.

To Ms. Bellasalma I would only say that you and your
organization, clear up to the national level, continue to be part of the
problem and not the solution. NOW’s one sided political support is unmistakable
evidence of the hypocrisy and ignorance with which it wields its ideological
influence. Shame on you for selling your souls on the altar of Progressive
politics in this country. I would encourage all of my women readers who may or
have considered supporting this bunch to place your trust elsewhere.

Whoopi

The dollar hit a historical low
yesterday. The trade deficit with China has reached an all time high of $28
billion while Beijing is using its currency against the U.S. in bidding wars to
gain unfair trade advantages. Obama is already taxing everything he can and
then screeching “that’s not what I was talking about” when challenged on his
“no new tax pledge”. The Federal Deficit exceeded $1 Trillion dollars for the
second year in a row. Oh, and did I mention the unemployment number? Ok I don’t
want to be accused of piling on, but I just thought you wishy washy middle of
the road folks needed a little reminder as to where we are in America today
when you are thinking about who to vote for. This is serious stuff folks,
please wake up and put your silly biases on the back burner for a while and
vote with your kids in mind! When the people from the polling places call, tell
them your voting to take back your country and hang up!

On another note, while it could be debated whether or not
Joy Behar and Whoopi walking off the set of “The View” yesterday generated the
ruckus applause, or whether it was Bill O’Reilly when he rightfully pointed out
that Muslims were in the cockpits of the aircraft used as missiles on 9/11, I
need to say very frankly: I would be happy if those two left the room when I
came in. They both make me a little nauseous…

Care Bill???

Health Care

I think we can all agree that the
question about whether or not to make our health care system better was and
remains a rhetorical one. And while the implication that the health care system
in Cuba rivals that of this country is simply a lunatic left wing talking point
with no basis in (un-censored) and/or actual fact, we can also agree that we
most certainly do have issues with regard to cost and application. Having said
this, the recent decision by a Florida Federal Judge denying a motion by the
Obama bunch to dismiss a multi-state lawsuit against the health care overhaul
has only re-enforced the many Constitutional questions concerning the law. As
an example, the mandate requiring coverage of all citizens with criminal
penalty for noncompliance is just plain un-Constitutional, and may very well be
the catalyst that facilitates the entire bill going bye-bye… When you couple
that with the newest overall CBO cost projections and the means by which this
socialist experiment is to be paid for, it’s hard to find a single Democrat
campaigning with “health care passage” as an accomplishment reason to vote for
them.

Now I know the Libs will come crying with case after case of
those “victimized” by the evil American health care system, but the truth is
that we have never really needed comprehensive reform at all, but rather simple
targeted reform to make our current system better, more efficient and more
affordable. There are clearly ways that this can be accomplished without
re-inventing health care in the likeness of so many failed approaches before
us. Mr. President, it is your ideological ambition that has backfired on this
one. It also appears that “We the People” were not so inclined to embrace the
notion of demonizing the free market system while simultaneously instituting a
European style “nanny state”, as you may have thought on that night back in
November of 2008. But don’t worry Sir, there is indeed “change” coming.

P.S. – If you are someone who actually believes that Cuba
has better health care than we do, please move there immediately, because you
are just mucking up any real sensible debate…

Prayer

Can you tell we are close to the
election? Michelle Obama is out there touting her family’s faith and thanking
those who are forming “prayer circles” for them. Is she kidding??? Where have
you been Mrs. First Lady??? This desperate and disingenuous overture is just
another reason that we must purge Washington of these people. From the time of
Jeremiah Wright until now, the POTUS has refused to discuss in any real or
meaningful way, his or his family’s faith belief system. Instead he has jumped
from one camp to the other and made bone head moves like having the monogram
symbolizing Jesus blacked out during his speech at Georgetown University last
year so as “not to offend”, and flip flopping on the Mosque at Ground Zero
issue.

Look, the current President of the United States is a
political animal like no other that has been in the WH in recent memory. He
clearly is most comfortable cloaked safely within his ideology of big
government and the “statist” mentality. And I believe Michelle is right there
with him. So to all those who might think Mr. & Mrs. Obama have suddenly
found religion two weeks before a major mid-term election, let’s just get real.
These folks need all the help they can get. November will be at the very least,
a rude awakening for this bunch and it can’t come soon enough.

Civil Rights

To borrow the Presidents line,
“Let’s be clear”: While I do believe that Andrew Cuomo is a bottom
feeding Liberal who will pander to what ever voter bloc he feels he must to get
elected, I also feel that Carl Paladino may not be the best alternative. That
said, I believe Mr. Paladino made a valid point the other day, though I’m not
sure surrounding himself with orthodox Jews was the best choice for a platform,
but none the less it gives me inspiration to address the big picture on this
day.

The “don’t ask don’t tell” dilemma is just a
culmination of a lot of arguments ongoing regarding discrimination against
homosexuals. I think we can all agree on that. So at the risk of going where I
probably shouldn’t, I feel a certain “obligation” to clarify what I believe
may be the thought process of a lot of heterosexual folks, and maybe even a
good number of gay and lesbian folks.

Bottom line here is that there seems to be some confusion
about what it is we are arguing about. This is primarily because it has ceased
to be an argument about civil rights but rather has morphed into a battle about
sex in general. Mr. Paladino makes the point, (albeit confusingly), that a
parade of folks marching in “Speedos” portraying sex acts on the
street for our children to see, has less to do with ones right to live as
he/she chooses, but rather appears to be an effort to force a particular
behavior out into the open and down the throats of a shocked populous. Now I
need to stop here and say very clearly that while I don’t advocate and/or
approve of the gay lifestyle, I am also not qualified to judge and therefore
defer to the Constitution accepting that there are different strokes for
different folks and that is the law of the land. (Moreover, it’s simply none of
my business). This does not mean however, that I support any discussion in my 8
year olds classroom that goes beyond a simple explanation of individual rights
under the Constitution and that not everyone is the same. The graphic
description of sex acts and “alternative life styles” ala
“Heather has two Mommies”, is a discussion that should be reserved
for an elective university classroom where/when young people are better able to
grasp the conversation and make individual and educated decisions.

For my part as an adult, I am simply not interested in the
sorted details of anyone’s sex life, heterosexual, homosexual or otherwise, and
I’ll bet most folks could care less about mine. However, it has to be said that
the hijacking of this argument by the Progressive “hyper sexual”
crowd who are hell bent on changing the discussion into one of forced
acceptance of an organization like NAMBLA as mainstream rather than the
application of equal justice under the law, is hurting the Gay Rights Movement,
not helping it. The torrid displays, offensive and “in your face”
tactics by these people only serve to inflame the nut jobs on the other side
and most certainly incite some of the inexcusable acts of violence we have
witnessed of recent and past.

Bottom line here folks is that the debate over Gays being
“out” in the Military should not even be a debate at all. There are
Gay folks in the military. That is the simple truth. My personal opinion is
that they should approach their sexuality as should heterosexuals in uniform,
in a decent and non offensive way, and most do. “Don’t ask don’t
tell” has always, and will always be pandering by a particular political
party to pacify a cause but not solve a problem. This approach never works.

Any soldier committing any crime against another regardless
of their sexual persuasion should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the
law, period… still confused, me too?

What I’m saying, is do not be fooled by the Andrew Cuomo’s
of the world who could give a rats you know what about gay rights, or anyone’s
rights for that matter in this country, and remember this phrase, “equal
justice under the law”. If we adhere to what is written and prosecute
accordingly, there will never be a need for “Hate Crimes Legislation”
or any other silly attempt to pander for votes. Special circumstances, sure.
But that comes after the conviction and should always be factored into
sentencing, but let’s not get to far off topic.

If I were to give advice to those gay rights activists who
are fighting the good fight against discrimination, it would be communicate to
your consensus the real message of “everyone’s” rights under law and
why they are no different if you’re gay or straight. And also communicate to
those who would manipulate your message into one of sexual perversion and
twisted public exhibitionism, that they are not helping the cause, but rather
they are marginalizing your message, and giving ammunition to those who would
oppose you for all the wrong reasons.

OK, I’ve changed the picture…! But I think this one is
just as bad…

The Greatest Generation

Every day I hear someone say we
are living through tough times as our fathers and grandfathers did, and that
all things are relative to their time. I am convinced that this is where the
disconnect comes. Some folks just chose to bury their heads in the sand and
hope that better days are ahead. Now that sounds all rosy and reassuring, but
is certainly not reality in any form, not even close! And we as a nation can
ill afford to be ignorant of what it is that ails us in the 21st century.

The leading indicator of our “credit” worthiness, for lack
of a better term, can be seen in the (U.S. federal debt as a percentage of the
GDP located in the graphic below). This number as measured from the late 1700’s
to date, shows how dramatic and dire our predicament, especially when you look
at the chart below depicting our spending over the last 10 years and projected
out 10. To put it in layman’s terms, these types of ratios combined with a real
time national debt approaching $14,000,000,000,000.00 are just plain
unsustainable. Never before, in the history of the United States of America
have these numbers been so dramatically lopsided. Pentagon officials are
actually forming contingency plans centered on an American financial meltdown
so dramatic that it would invite invasion, and politicians are running from
this spend happy POTUS faster than their disingenuous legs can carry them
before November. These are perilous times that have no equal in terms of the
history of our families before us.

Now having said all this, I am equally confident that there
is a growing consensus in America that something is very different than in the
times of the “Greatest Generation”. With this in mind, but without
demeaning one iota, the efforts and struggles of those who came before us, the
question is now, have we finally handicapped our ability to come back from the
brink and pass onto our children a better and more secure nation? I pray for
the sake of those who cannot or refuse to see, that we have not…
