On a less personal note I’ve
prepared for release today, a transcript from the Rush Limbaugh Show that about
wraps up any further discussion on the matter of the Thanksgiving holiday and a
bit more. When I first addressed the issue with a blog three years ago, it was
the result of painstaking historical fact finding. I have loved the story from
when I was a child and cringed over the years as the Revisionists have labored
to re-write it. That said, it is much more complicated a tale than it seems,
and I don’t feel my blog ever did it justice. So when I heard Rush quoting
“Governor William Bradford “the other day, I knew we were on the same page and
that he would hit the mark with far fewer words than I ever could. So I
listened closely and I bring it to you this morning. This is for my detractors
and all those who would teach our children a lie in order to remake our great
nation. There are no opinions, just facts as seen through the eyes of a man who
lived them. Happy Thanksgiving folks…

RUSH: It’s time for the traditional true story of
Thanksgiving, as written by me in my second best seller of 2.5 million copies
in hardback: See, I Told You So. “Chapter 6, Dead White Guys, or What the
History Books Never Told You: The True Story of Thanksgiving — The story of
the Pilgrims begins in the early part of the seventeenth century … The Church
of England under King James I was persecuting anyone and everyone who did not
recognize its absolute civil and spiritual authority. Those who challenged
ecclesiastical authority and those who believed strongly in freedom of worship
were hunted down, imprisoned, and sometimes executed for their beliefs. A group
of separatists first fled to Holland and established a community.

“After eleven years, about forty of them agreed to make
a perilous journey to the New World, where they would certainly face hardships,
but could live and worship God according to the dictates of their own
consciences. On August 1, 1620, the Mayflower set sail. It carried a total of
102 passengers, including forty Pilgrims led by William Bradford. On the
journey, Bradford set up an agreement, a contract, that established just and
equal laws for all members of the new community, irrespective of their
religious beliefs. Where did the revolutionary ideas expressed in the Mayflower
Compact come from? From the Bible. The Pilgrims were a people completely
steeped in the lessons of the Old and New Testaments. They looked to the
ancient Israelites for their example.

“And, because of the biblical precedents set forth in
Scripture, they never doubted that their experiment would work. But this was no
pleasure cruise, friends. The journey to the New World was a long and arduous
one. And when the Pilgrims landed in New England in November, they found,
according to Bradford’s detailed journal, a cold, barren, desolate wilderness.
There were no friends to greet them, he wrote. There were no houses to shelter
them. There were no inns where they could refresh themselves. And the sacrifice
they had made for freedom was just beginning. During the first winter, half the
Pilgrims – including Bradford’s own wife – died of starvation, sickness or
exposure. When spring finally came, Indians taught the settlers how to plant
corn, fish for cod and skin beavers for coats.

“Life improved for the Pilgrims, but they did not yet
prosper! This is important to understand because this is where modern American
history lessons often end. Thanksgiving is actually explained in some textbooks
as a holiday for which the Pilgrims gave thanks to the Indians for saving their
lives, rather than as a devout expression of gratitude grounded in the
tradition of both the Old and New Testaments. Here is the part that has been
omitted: The original contract the Pilgrims had entered into with their
merchant-sponsors in London called for everything they produced to go into a
common store, and each member of the community was entitled to one common
share. All of the land they cleared and the houses they built belonged to the
community as well. They were going to distribute it equally. All of the land
they cleared and the houses they built belonged to the community as well.

“Nobody owned anything. They just had a share in it. It
was a commune, folks. It was the forerunner to the communes we saw in the ’60s
and ’70s out in California – and it was complete with organic vegetables, by
the way.” There’s no question they were organic vegetables.
“Bradford, who had become the new governor of the colony, recognized that
this form of collectivism was as costly and destructive to the Pilgrims as that
first harsh winter, which had taken so many lives. He decided to take bold
action. Bradford assigned a plot of land to each family to work and manage,
thus turning loose the power of the marketplace. That’s right. Long before Karl
Marx was even born, the Pilgrims had discovered and experimented with what
could only be described as socialism. And what happened? It didn’t work!”
They nearly starved!

“It never has worked! What Bradford and his community
found was that the most creative and industrious people had no incentive to
work any harder than anyone else, unless they could utilize the power of
personal motivation! But while most of the rest of the world has been
experimenting with socialism for well over a hundred years – trying to refine
it, perfect it, and re-invent it – the Pilgrims decided early on to scrap it
permanently. What Bradford wrote about this social experiment should be in
every schoolchild’s history lesson. If it were, we might prevent much needless
suffering in the future,” such as that we’re enduring now. “‘The
experience that we had in this common course and condition…’” this is
Bradford. “‘The experience that we had in this common course and condition
tried sundry years…that by taking away property, and bringing community into
a common wealth, would make them happy and flourishing – as if they were wiser
than God,’ Bradford wrote.

“‘For this community [so far as it was] was found to
breed much confusion and discontent, and retard much employment that would have
been to their benefit and comfort. For young men that were most able and fit
for labor and service did repine that they should spend their time and strength
to work for other men’s wives and children without any recompense,’”
without being paid for it, “‘that was thought injustice.’ Why should you
work for other people when you can’t work for yourself?” That’s what he
was saying. ” The Pilgrims found that people could not be expected to do
their best work without incentive. So what did Bradford’s community try next?
They unharnessed the power of good old free enterprise by invoking the
undergirding capitalistic principle of private property.

“Every family was assigned its own plot of land to work
and permitted to market its own crops and products. And what was the result?
‘This had very good success,’ wrote Bradford, ‘for it made all hands
industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been.’
… Is it possible that supply-side economics could have existed before the
1980s? Yes. Read the story of Joseph and Pharaoh in Genesis 41. Following
Joseph’s suggestion (Gen 41:34), Pharaoh reduced the tax on Egyptians to 20%
during the ‘seven years of plenty’ and the ‘Earth brought forth in heaps.’
(Gen. 41:47) In no time, the Pilgrims found they had more food than they could
eat themselves.

“Now, this is where it gets really good, folks, if
you’re laboring under the misconception that I was, as I was taught in school.
So they set up trading posts and exchanged goods with the Indians. The profits
allowed them to pay off their debts to the merchants in London. And the success
and prosperity of the Plymouth settlement attracted more Europeans and began
what came to be known as the ‘Great Puritan Migration.’ But this story stops
when the Indians taught the newly arrived suffering-in-socialism Pilgrims how
to plant corn and fish for cod. That’s where the original Thanksgiving story
stops, and the story basically doesn’t even begin there. The real story of
Thanksgiving is William Bradford giving thanks to God for the guidance and the
inspiration to set up a thriving colony. The bounty was shared with the
Indians.” They did sit down” and they did have free-range turkey and
organic vegetables, “but it was not the Indians who saved the day. It was
capitalism and Scripture which saved the day,” as acknowledged by George
Washington in his first Thanksgiving Proclamation in 1789.

Unions, New York

As a side note to my earlier
post, I am troubled by the story coming out of New York as reported by the NY
Post. As many of you may know, I am a long time union member and officer. As
you may also know, that association has not been without conflict and
disillusion over the years. On many occasions I have bucked the status quo in
favor of what I knew to be right, and I can say with pride that I have never
allowed anyone to direct my vote. With that said, if it can be proven that
workers of the NY City Sanitation Division purposely endeavored to cause a
disruption of service to the community to further a political message, and if
it can be further proven that lives were endangered or even lost as a result of
that action, then let criminal proceedings commence at the earliest possible
juncture.

Bloomberg, North East Blizzard

By no means am I suggesting this
recent snow event was insignificant. To the contrary, I was out working in it
and it was nasty to say the least. With that said, I’m always reminiscent of an
earlier time when I can recall far worse storms that were handled in a far
better manner. This brings me to an observation that is difficult to get my

political hands around at times. We seem to be paying a heck of a lot more
these days, yet the return on our tax dollar continues to diminish in terms of
the basic services we should expect. While there are nearly fist fights when
debating “entitlement” programs in capital buildings around the country,
municipalities all over America are operating in the red and ready to go belly
up because they can’t afford to collect the trash, repair the streets or plow
the damn snow away. Now there are most certainly a host of reasons for this,
not the least of which is our local government’s dependency on their home
states, that in turn are now dependent on the feds for money to do what they
should be able to do themselves, and don’t forget organized government labor.
Regardless, it is simply infuriating to listen to a shmuck like Mayor Michael
Bloomberg trying desperately to explain away the monumental disaster in New
York City after this recent snow storm.

With all due respect to the 50.6 % of voters who elected
this phony to the Mayor’s office again in 2009, you are getting what you voted
for, a billionaire ideological opportunist without the first clue about what
he’s doing except in matters of social change and/or the “Mosque at Ground
Zero”. The notion that a city such as New York could be so easily crippled by a
weather event that pales in comparison to a number of far more devastating
storms in recent memory, is a sad testament to the city’s preparedness level
considering the threats it faces in this day and age. Ultimately, all unplowed
roads lead to the Mayor’s office.

I have listened closely to New Yorks Mayor over the years as
I am a Second Amendment guy, and you will not find a more ardent anti-gun loser
than old Mike Bloomberg. During that time, I learned firearms issues are not
the only things he is very comfortable misrepresenting. One of my blog posts
however, is not sufficient a space to list the credibility issues of this
individual, so I must impose on you to do your homework. Suffice it to say that
many of the accusations leveled against this fraud have far more validity than
you may have imagined.

So to the people of the “Big apple”: Thankfully you will be
spared another term when the Mayor makes his exit in 2 years. And considering
the events of 2010, I seriously doubt that he will be able to scam the City
Council into amending term limits for his personal benefit once again. Sadly,
Mike Bloomberg is just another example of what happens when we are misled into
a sense of security and fail to look closely at those who would lead us.

P.S.

The airline industry has to get some of the blame for this
nightmare as well. Once again we are not getting what we pay for. Unnecessary
delays and poor planning, coupled with what many stranded in airports on the
East Coast are calling a “we could care less attitude” have enraged the
traveling public, and rightfully so. Maybe a lesson is in order. Shall we say,
a different mode of transportation when possible is in order for a year or so??
Watch and see how fast things change… Remember people, if we choose to be, “we
are the masters of our government and our economy”…

Quote for today:

“I have diligently sought the public welfare and have
endeavored to inculcate the same principles in all that are under me.” (George
Washington)

Why is it that we do not demand this from those who would
lead us today???

Well, don’t look at me…

Gas

I seem to remember when “W” was
President there was a bit of an “uproar” over rising prices at the pumps.
Indeed, I seem to recall Senator Boxer, “WH” Harry Reid and a host of other
Democrat geniuses spouting off about how gas prices had almost doubled under
Bush’s first tour, and how he should be taken out and flogged for it. Now I
could really get nasty and discuss state issues and taxes when it comes to gas
prices in Nevada, California and other Lib havens where they are quick to point
the finger, but I’m just gonna say that in fact, when adjusted for inflation,
gas prices were actually almost 9% lower when George Bush left office than what
they were when he arrived.

Now why do you suppose that the current POTUS seems to be
getting a pass on skyrocketing gas prices today, and why are we now being told
that this is a reality we must all accept? Well, I’ll leave that one up to you
all to take a stab at. In the mean time, remember what I have been saying about
inflation as well as the prices of gasoline and home heating oil. The sham this
Administration is calling recovery at present, will be quickly overshadowed by
the problems they have ignored. Hunker down people, it’s gonna get worse before
it gets better.

Vacation

I will be taking a little family
time this week, so the posts will be sporadic at best and couple may even be
dated J.  I hope all of you had an
enjoyable holiday and are beginning to focus just a little on 2011. This year
promises to be one of change and adversity, coupled with realization and
progress if we truly acknowledge what’s broken and move to fix it. While many
in the main stream media are focused on what they would have us believe is the
POTUS moving to the middle, I see a man emboldened by his victories despite the
odds against him, and ready to leave his brand of “change” in every corner of
America. I see heated battles over “reparations”, the “EPA”, the war in
Afghanistan, health care, and the tax code as just a sampling of what’s ahead.
Moreover, I feel any attempt to portray this President as a “Centrist”
continues to reflect the “Left’s” need to camouflage their real motivations and
intentions.

Based on my observations following the 08 Presidential
Election until now, I have concluded that while Mr. Obama would certainly
welcome an opportunity to share a few more lobster dinners at the WH with the
FLOUS, he may be just as content to ram as much progressive crap up our
collective “you know what’s” for one term, and flip us all the proverbial one
finger salute on the way out of the West Wing Portico…

Anyhow, defense, vigilance, and finally an appropriate
offence are my tactics for the coming year. We must not be lulled into a sense
of false security after our good showing in November. The road back will be
long and filled with challenge and political conflict. Inevitably, our efforts
will be viewed as having been necessary to ensure that this President and the
111 th Congress were remembered in a factual and ideological light, and that
those efforts were benchmarks for our children to consider and learn from as
the struggle to preserve liberty as it was laid out by the founding documents,
will most certainly fall to them.

In the immediate short term however, and before we make that
dreaded diet resolution for another New Year, have some more Eggnog and finish
off that pie and cookies. Spend some time with loved ones and try and remember
what it was about the snow that made you feel so good when you were younger.
Recognize that feeling in your little ones eyes and go build a snowman, ever
thankful for what we have and who we are…

God Bless…

Christmas

1

Christmas is also a time to
remember the treasures of our own history. We remember one Christmas in
particular, 1776, our first year as a nation. The Revolutionary War had been
going badly. But George Washington’s faith, courage, and leadership would turn
the tide of history our way. On Christmas night he led a band of ragged
soldiers across the Delaware River through driving snow to a victory that saved
the cause of independence. It’s said that their route of march was stained by
bloody footprints, but their spirit never faltered and their will could not be
crushed.

The image of George Washington kneeling in prayer in the
snow is one of the most famous in American history. He personified a people who
knew it was not enough to depend on their own courage and goodness; they must
also seek help from God, their Father and Preserver. (Ronald Reagan)

Christmas thoughts…

Christmas

Christmas has always been a
“safe” time for me. I always try and remember the “reason for the season” and
apply that special feeling to everything I do. Some years I am more successful
than others, and I must admit that my passion for this time of year has been
lessened with the passage of time and the hardening of my persona which is
sometimes necessary to fit the role of “political combatant”. This year we face
challenges as a nation and as human beings in a world of changing ideals and
aspirations. These challenges are monumental as I feel they affect our legacy
like at no time in our short history. Sure, things have been rough before, but
it seems we have reached a breaking point. Have we not entered a period where
even one wrong turn could very well prove irrecoverable? Take a “real” good
look in the mirror this Christmas. Ask the “real” hard questions, and don’t
tell me you are not concerned about events that look as though they will shake
the very core of our country. Don’t tell me that you’re not wondering where in
the world we are gonna find $14 Trillion dollars in the next 20 or even 100
years. Don’t tell me that you’re not looking at any positive, but oh so
minuscule up-ticks in this economy and asking, “Is that it”? “Is that what
recovery 2010 looks like”? “Is this “hope and change”? Don’t tell me that
you’re not wondering what your little one(s) will be facing when they make it
out into the world. And don’t tell me that you can’t see the truth that is
right in front of your face.

So as we go through this blessed Christmas Holiday and then
move on to 2011, can we make a quiet vow to ourselves and one another if it
does not start a “holy war” at the holiday dinner table? Can we
pledge our truest efforts to ensuring that this “best arrangement for mankind
under God, bar none”, this unique and special “Republic under Law” which
recognizes that which cannot be bestowed by man but guarantees the freedom to
pursue it, be part of our children’s and their children’s future. Can we?? “Yes
we can”, and we should…

So to all of my faithful readers, fellow “Patriots” and
fans, and even to all those who would rather see me locked in the bathroom
suffering from eggnog overload this weekend, I wish a very Merry Christmas to
you and a very happy, healthy New Year!!

We will do it all again in 2011,,, God willing…

And as always folks, let us reach out to those in need as
there are many this year. Help where you can and pray for those who are
suffering. Pray for our Soldiers who are apart from their families during the
holidays. Pray for the parents of sick children and that the miracle of
Christmas will shine down upon them.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the
field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory
of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them,

Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great
joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a
Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe
wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the
heavenly host praising God, and saying,

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will
toward men.

Start

Not in recent memory has a “lame
duck Congress” acted in so irresponsible and defiant a way as the current
one.  So infuriated at being slapped back
to reality by “We the People” in the mid-term elections, but still so focused
on changing The United States as we know it, the 111th Congress is gearing up
to do something that has never been done before, ratify an international arms
treaty in a “lame duck” session. Moreover, this treaty is aimed specifically at
“evening” the playing field in such a way that it will leave us less safe than
we were at the time of the “Cold War”.

America has always adhered to a notion of peace through a
position of strength, and that approach has served us well. Now, our
“Collectivist” President and his “lame ducks” in Congress are intent on robbing
us of the very shield that would protect our children and grandchildren from
emerging rogue nations who would threaten their very existence, while
simultaneously ramming through as much of their rejected progressive agenda as
they can before they are shown the door. The exercise of the last couple of
weeks has been one that will be studied at great length in the future as an example
of a time when our government used its power to subvert the will of its people.
Disgraceful…

DADT

I’m sure that most Americans
could be brought around to the thinking that “Don’t ask don’t tell” was merely
hiding a reality that exists in our Military today. And I’m equally convinced that
an appropriate arrangement could have been hammered out with time and real
analysis of the effect of any policy change or Amendment. With that said, it is
simply amazing and actually embarrassing that with everything on our national
plate presently, from a flailing economy and unprecedented deficits, to the
wars, declared and undeclared, ongoing across the globe taxing our military and
their families to the limit, that somehow the pressing and media explosive
issue for yesterday, a day Congress called in special session just before
arguably the biggest holiday of the year,,,, was gay people serving in the
military!!! Huh???

So as Americans who are struggling to pay bills on
unemployment insurance and about to lose their homes this Christmas, and who
are also wondering which crises will result in a world war, the Middle East or
the Korean Peninsula, and who will now watch the President sign into law the
legislation that lifts “DADT”, one has to wonder if those same Americans aren’t
asking, “Who gives a rats you know what, you tone deaf SOB’s”?

Just wondering???

Economy Taxes

Do not be fooled by what some are
saying is now an economic “recovery”. Now it goes without saying that the
strength of the U.S. economy is its resilience, and is based on whether or not
consumers feel confident enough to get back out there and spend. This can be
affected by a number of factors including the approaching holiday and the
buying blitz that usually occurs this time of year.

What is being overlooked however, are the nagging issues of
debt and joblessness that continue, seemingly with less than encouraging long
term prospects. Moreover, anyone who wears cloths, eats or drives a car can see
prices rising as they always do in a supply and demand structure. The price of
staple and base line products such as corn, cotton and wheat are skyrocketing.
Package quantity is declining while prices are going up. The problem is these
troubling indicators, combined with a housing market poised to collapse under
its own weight and massive federal borrowing and debt, will be there when this
“cheerful” spending slows and beyond.

Investment and expansion of small business and a climate of
lower taxes and business friendly regulation are what will ultimately put
America back on track. Getting our financial house in order and revising the
tax code so that it reflects fairness and encourages Americans to be
contributing members of society who may reap the rewards of such inclusion, not
exclusion, is also part of the way forward.

Do not misunderstand my observation. I am simply saying that
the road to “real” and tangible recovery will be long and not without
sacrifice yet to be seen. Politicians will do their best to package and portray
this next month as a defining moment when it merely reflects a slight uptick in
consumer confidence compliments of the Christmas Holiday. The reality of our
situation must not be forgotten or pushed aside. Any lack of vigilance on the
part of “We the People” will allow those in Washington to proceed as usual only
hastening our decline.

As I warned back in November, do not let the lessons of the
midterms be forgotten, but rather let them be augmented by our collective and
ongoing awakening.

turned out to be quite a difficult proposition for the simple “Community

watch perilous events unfold on the economic front, it is even more
disheartening to hear the POTUS present his Afghan war analysis as researched

downright political blunders continue to mount. Jimmy Carter is looking better

Border Patrol

There is another war you may not
be thinking of. With the ongoing struggle in Afghanistan as well as political
fronts in Iraq, Iran and North Korea, it is easy to overlook a front line much
closer to home. Sadly, that line is very clear this day to the family of
Special Agent Brian A. Terry of the United States Border Patrol. Agent Terry,
40, was attempting to apprehend Mexican “bandits” who prey on unsuspecting
illegals trying to cross from Mexico into Arizona, when he was gunned down by
these marauding murderers on the American side.

Regrettably, I do not think this will be the last brave soul
lost to this “war”. For as politicians in this Country continue to pander to
the Latino community by lying, distorting the facts and dangling “amnesty” out
there, the line between the “rule of law” and “open borders” will continue to
blur as well.

Thoughts and prayers for strength this holiday season to the
Terry family. Another Law Officer lost for all the wrong reasons.

School Lunch

So now our weight is a “national
security risk”. It is growing more and more painful to listen to this crew in
the WH. In a time when talk of deficits and debt are on everyone’s lips, these
nut jobs want yet another unfunded mandate for states to absorb under the guise
of keeping kids fed with healthy food. Now while this sounds all warm and
fuzzy, it speaks once again to usurping the responsibility of parents and
spending money we do not have on silly and unnecessary “pork”, for lack of a
better description. The question of which child needs or doesn’t need a free
lunch, and what that lunch should constitute, is a complicated one to say the
least, so I’ll leave that for another post. That said, the question here is,
how do the states find the additional funding that Michelle Obama has left out
of her healthy food initiative plea to help fat kids get into the
military?

Listen up able bodied and gainfully employed parents, it is
not my responsibility to oversee and even pay for your kid’s lunch and/or
what’s in it. That’s simply not how it works. And to the First Lady I would
say: “why don’t you start by changing the tone just a bit and telling certain
media pundits to lay off the fat jokes and pure venom being directed at a
certain hefty NJ Governor?

BTW — Does anyone have “4.5 Billion with a B dollars” Mrs.

Healthcare Soros

1

As part of the argument over
healthcare in this country one of the major sticking points has been that the
Federal Government over stepped it’s authority under the Commerce Clause by
requiring all Americans to purchase health insurance with the threat of
criminal penalty for non-compliance. Well, in Virginia today, a Federal Judge
says that requirement is un-Constitutional. This friends, marks the beginning of
a historical battle over the size of government which has been brewing in our
country for some time. How “We the People” respond to those who mean to remake
America in the image of Europe will determine the ultimate direction of the
United States of America.

On a side note, (though I feel related in the most
fundamental way), is the arsonist in Cape Cod with an axe to grind against the
rich. We are undoubtedly facing growing class warfare and a Socialist onslaught
the likes of which we have not seen in a generation. And their answer to what
they perceive, and what the main stream media and George Soros are espousing as
America’s ills, is government oversight and redistribution of all assets and
entitlements. Through avenues such as healthcare and taxes, you will be faced
with a choice between a free enterprize economy that has surpassed in its
successes any in human history, or the failed policies of a continent we have
saved from itself time and again. In the short span of just 2 years, President
Barack Obama, and Liberals elected to the halls of government in 2006 and 2008,
have placed our nation on the fast track to a “progressive” society in ways and
with tactics we might never have imagined. Significant historical events that
will be studied for centuries to come are playing out before our eyes. “We the
People” have a great responsibility to be a part of that history and not let it
be defined for us by the likes of a European Socialist like George Soros.

Another side note.

How is it that Democrats are now suddenly screaming about
the deficit? These fools blew up the deficit with feel good entitlement
spending over a period of almost 100 years, but now have had some sort of
epiphany on the issue. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid worried about the deficit???
Really???

NRA Justice Breyer

The argument over gun control is
ever present in modern America. So when Justice Stephen Breyer offered up his
“opinion” recently on the intent of the Framers in this regard, I was obviously
intrigued. As a strong proponent of the right to keep and bear arms I am always
interested to hear the Supreme Court Justices take on the issue. My quick
observation is that a good understanding of history by some on the court can
often be clouded by the growing sentimentality and revisionism of others.
Breyer wrote the dissent in the recent DC vs. Heller case concerning an
individual’s right under the “second Amendment” to keep a firearm for
protection. On “Fox News Sunday” he offered up the notion that James Madison
was so concerned about the ratification of the Constitution that he lobbied for
the Amendment as a means to appease states that felt government control over
their own “militias” might be imminent with that ratification. What Breyer and
many of his thinking leave out, is that type of heavy handed control over
states’ rights was exactly what folks feared most. He also takes the leap that
there “may” have been others sympathetic to Madison’s cause, and omits the
reality that most of the Founders came down on the side of the states as a
check to “British” style control over every aspect of their lives. Breyer cites
history when it suits his purpose and demonstrates clearly one of the many
necessary reasons for our (check and balance) means of government. Breyer
attempts to cement his “theory” by suggesting that the Founders had no way of
anticipating the state of affairs in modern America today, therefore regulation
is necessary up to and including banning firearms in certain situations. It is
when we hear comments such as these that we must fear our government and
understand with clarity our individual roles in controlling it.

I spoke last year at a town hall style meeting on “gun
control” and my message was this. Interpretation is a complicated thing and we
must be vigilant in guarding against speculation as a substitute. With that
said, the fact that there was no modern media per say in the time of Madison
was a good thing. The Founding Fathers like many of their time committed their
thought process to the written word and in great detail. Now while it is
tempting to some who would manipulate those words to reflect a different
meaning, we must remain true to the “spirit” of their intention and cognizant
of the time in which they were written. The people of the 18th century
understood well the power of an abusive and far reaching government, and in
fact the Revolution of their day began as that very government came to deprive
them of their ability to defend themselves at Lexington and Concord. I
concluded my remarks that evening with what I believe is the parting point for
both sides of this argument. There remains a purposeful ignorance by some in
positions of political power to the fact that a core principle of our
independence was a guarantee that “We the People” would always possess the
means to “take back” our country from the crooked hands of a bloated and
tyrannical bureaucracy. It is this “spirit” of intent that is the bedrock for
our country. It is this truth that so frightens our enemies, even those within
our own boarders. Without it we are lost, hence the saying: “Without the Second
Amendment, there are no others”.

I would conclude that while I have always believed in our
“Republic under Law” and the idea that “minimum” and “reasonable” regulation,
instituted by those true to the founding principles, in conjunction with the
rule of law administered by an independent body of like-minded public
officials, only serves to augment freedom and Democracy. Regrettably, and to
Justice Breyer I would only say, the numbers have never and will probably never
support your “opinion” on this issue. The “spirit” and the “intent” of the
founders on all matters they saw fit to address are truly a very easy read.
Their genius was in fact their reason and ability to bear out simple but
foundational truths and guidelines that would carry us in times of strife and
uncertainty. If I have learned anything in this life Your Honor, it is that it
does not take a law degree or an appointed black robe to see that spirit.

Ignore history at your own peril… Do your homework…

No really, I can live with the

stated desires to change the “evil” American Empire into a “kinder and gentler”
European style country, like say France or England, as things are just so great
over there. Cough, cough… But when I hear a buffoon like Congressman Jim

unemployment is somehow good for the economy, I feel a strong urge to chew a
half bottle of Tums… This crooked SOB has no business representing anything or
anyone, except maybe the leftist colony that has become Washington State.

Ya know, I look to our history and I’m encouraged by the
ability of Americans to have endured what we have. It’s truly an amazing thing
to look at how “We the People” have risen to the challenge time and again and
been better for it each time. However, I can’t help but wonder if we have not
entered a period when many in this country, whether by way of bad influence or
the promise of a free ride rooted in class warfare and propped up by false
prophets and a complicit main stream media, have been duped into following the
likes of a Jim McDermott. Despite the refreshing and somewhat vindicating
election results of just a month ago, I remain unconvinced that we have learned
anything. For that matter, I am skeptical at best that we are prepared to truly
embrace our ideals and hard fought convictions, so we may pass on to our legacy
the same nation to which we have been entrusted.

Tax cuts for the rich

I wasn’t going to touch the
Clinton / Obama press conference as I felt that it was just to astonishing to
put into words. But Hearing Ed Rendell praise “Slick Willy” on the Saturday
news shows begs my critique. Now while I have always felt Rendell was a sleazy
apologist for the left, the notion he is espousing that Clinton’s taxing of the
top tear earners in this country in 93 led to the “greatest economic boom” in
our history is as much BS as I can stand. The truth is Bill Clinton saw the
writing on the wall and took a sharp right turn, adopting almost “Reagan-esque”
stands on many economic issues including manipulating the marginal tax rates in
both directions. He had his ass handed to him during his own mid-term nightmare
and it turns out he is far less of an ideologue than most may have thought.
Clinton just wanted four more years and that evolution served his legacy well
despite his many character blurbs.

I know that I’m going to catch holy heck for this one, but
in the absence of a POTUS (up to the task), it was almost reassuring to see a
steady hand at the wheel during that press conference. Did you see Clinton
smile as Obama left the podium? I thought he was gonna do a jig… Yeah, don’t
let the door hit ya there brother…

Anyway, it appears that a compromise is in the making,
though I must admit I feel the Repubs have missed the proverbial boat once
again. It remains a matter of message, and the message must be that we cannot
afford to continue ignoring reality. Our government has squandered and pandered
away our children’s future, and liberals in Washington are trying hard to
justify and continue that strategy to the “end”. In my last post, I spoke of
our generation coming to terms with this reality and how I continue to hope it
will be good for America. I would only add that “We the enlightened People” are
also faced with a choice of ideological direction. I pray we choose wisely.

This is just good stuff…

This tax battle definitely shows
the two very different ideologies at war right now and the POTUS is under fire
from both sides. This always happens in politics when your plan is not working
so you try and meet the other side half way, or at least try to give that
appearance. One thing is clear however, and that is we can now see who is who
on the issue, and the radical anti-capitalist left like “independent”
(Socialist) Senator Bernie Sanders have their fangs out big time. This clown is
calling the “compromise” that everyone has been screaming for in Washington, a
“moral outrage”.

For my part I would have to say that while I’m not totally
happy with the deal, it is a step in the right direction while mired in a “lame
duck” session. With that said, it will never please the uber left like Sanders
who would basically destroy our economy as we know it in favor of a European
style debacle like the one on display in that part of the world today.

To Senator Sanders I would say this: The only “moral
outrage” I can see is that someone like yourself was ever elected to public
office in the first place. Way to go Vermont sending this winner to represent
your interests in Washington…

Remember people, these folks saw the Obama Presidency as a

our short term economic prospects and leave us directionless and flailing in a

Watching this awful process make its way through a

by the argument that letting “We the People” keep more of “our” own money
(regardless of our income) will somehow add to our deficit. For the record, you

Bell Curve Beck

You have often heard me talk
about history. Everyone knows the cliché. But in my political “conversations”
with folks I’ve often drawn correlations to past societies as examples of where
we could wind up if we do not heed the lessons of history. I was watching Beck
last night and he was hitting on some of that stuff. Now I’m not gonna get into
a tussle over Beck. Love him or hate him, you can catch him on FOX or on his
radio program whenever you wish and that’s your business. I was just interested
to hear him talk of a “bell curve” which highlights the rise and fall of “super
nations” like Rome. Beck made a very important observation that escapes many,
and one which I have used time and again. Rome was first a Republic before it
was an empire. Rome deteriorated into a sadistic and murderous empire over time
and literally right in front of generations of her people. He also spoke of
three key “ingredients” necessary to facilitate (over time), the downfall of
such a nation. There have been dozens of books centered on these “ingredients”,
and there is consensus on their overall description.

The first and I think the most important is the “moral
decay” of the populous. When people become what they fear, and society grows
comfortable over time with that which they would have repulsed just a
generation before, they are always more inclined to support, shall we say, less
than scrupulous folks to represent their interests in government. The second is
an over confident and over extended military. There are things that history
tells us repeatedly, not the least of which is that to divide and attack a
powerful military over a long period is to wear it down and defeat it
eventually. And the last is economic irresponsibility. Enough said as I think
you have a good a handle on that one.

Can anyone see any similarities??? Hello…

Come on folks. The writing is on the wall. We must turn back
now before it is too late. It is bad enough to turn against the bell curve
while on it’s down side, but the alternative is the United States on the list
with the Roman Empire. We are better than this. We are smarter than this.

and the rest of those political cronies plotting our demise: “We the People”
are not stupid!!! “We get it!!!

We know that many of the solutions to our debt “situation”
that you all are proposing will be painful if enacted. The midterm elections
were somewhat of a reflection of that knowledge, layered with a hefty dose of
anger and a collective desire to change course quickly before we go over the
edge. With that said, what we would really like to hear a little more of is the
acknowledgment that our government has failed us in every way it could for far
too long and is the reason we are at this point. We would also like to hear
more of the reasons (why) though, before you all stick it to us one more time.
Oh, and we would like to hear how sorry the federal government is for getting
us in this mess in the first place, and that it will never happen again… Yeah

I watched the news yesterday in
utter amazement, as grown men and women trampled and assaulted one another at
the doors of a Target Store in an effort to save a few dollars on a lousy flat
screen television that will most likely be worth less than what they paid for
it in 6 months anyhow. One exceedingly large lady even stepped right on the
back of a rather large man who had fallen in the doorway, and the behemoth
never missed a stride. A dozen more followed before the poor guy could be
pulled from the bottom of the human stampede.

Now I don’t care what some ridiculous retail “tradition” may

of a society in decline, and our enemies are watching closely.

Conservative Conviction, Talking points

I wonder about those on the left
in this country and about the prism, or rather “prison” they seem to see our
nation through. Now there’s no doubt that throughout the ledgers of history we
read of disparities between “the classes” if you will. Many an author’s story
book has had its pages filled with tales of those with and those without. One
must admit that even in The United States we continue to struggle with the
issue of poverty and the reasons/resolutions for it. I suppose the easiest way
to address the issue might be to demonize those who have, in the eyes of those
who have not, thereby pitting one against the other in a sort of economic civil
war. This approach however, leaves much on the table and in the end, is nothing
more than idealistic hogwash. As we begin the Christmas Holiday Season, this is
a topic we cannot ignore. Here we go…

I come from Middle America myself, and you all should know
that I left the security and consistency of my family home and struck out on a
journey that has since humbled and taught me many a valuable lesson. Much of
that learning process would certainly have been more than a challenge to the
faint of heart, of this I can assure you. That said, I am not immune or
insensitive to the struggles of the young unwed mother whose
“partner” has left her to fend for herself and that of her young
one(s).

But that young woman’s plight is surely not of the same
condition as another who lives in her mother’s home, rent free, working “under
the table” for cash money while simultaneously receiving state assistance for
three children that “We the People” are paying for. The latter is the abuser,
but must be figured into any equation. You see people, it is already more
complicated than just the thoughtless application of the Robin Hood analogy.
Let’s continue. Note: (Of those three beautiful children, 2 became pregnant out
of wed lock and 1 has been in constant trouble with the law for drug related
issues). This is a true story which brings me to my next point.

Statistical facts tell us that many of our inner city
struggles are rooted in the deterioration of the nuclear family as well as the
unsustainable entitlement support of those who have come to this country
illegally for nothing more than the “free ride” it currently offers. Now I
refuse to debate the illegal issue again, as it is governed by the law of the
land and can be appropriately addressed if we simply have the intestinal
fortitude to enforce that law. With regard to the family issue however, many a
manipulative politician has successfully garnered the mass support of an
entitlement populous that has been duped into thinking that they are somehow
owed a living by way of an alleged, pre-determined condition/predicament or
worse, the color of their skin or ethnicity. No thought to how to combat that
condition or talk up freedom, hard work, self-reliance and American
exceptionalism though. To tough I suppose… Oh, and throw in a hearty dose of
class warfare (someone to blame for your lot in life), to drive the point home.
Generational poverty has always been maintained and nurtured by those who seek
power over people, and it remains a political weapon to this day, ie: Jesse
Jackson, Al Sharpton and the rest of those crooked bastards. Shall I go on???

Ok, during the course of analyzing all of this, some on the
left have become so confused they have forgotten (or ignored) the fact that the
wealthiest of our society pay the most in taxes by far. But they also ignore
things like “Middle America” and the small business that drives it, and how
those folks account for 70 percent of all employment in America and are a huge
irreplaceable part of our economic engine. You ask how they do this?? By pigeon
holing and (down categorizing) what should be considered “wealthy” in
order to continue and fund a bloated and ever growing federal budget. They just
glaze over the middle class they claim to champion and continue to trumpet the
simple but more effective mantra of the (haves and have not’s). To address the
more complicated reality as created by decades of pandering by both major
parties simply does not fit, and therefore they cannot make the case for “Robin
Hood-ism”, as I’m calling it these days.

Look folks, I must tell you that while I continue to learn
with every day of my life that passes, and readily admit that process will
continue to my death, it is also true that there are very few of the human
“conditions” that will surprise me anymore. I have witnessed and experienced
suffering on a number of levels and all of it has left me searching for answers
just like many of you. That said, this conspiratorial and narrow view of life
in this country really irritates me, as it is mostly cultivated and driven by a
small group of elitist, inexperienced academics and those who have either
achieved great wealth via the free market system and are now experiencing some
sort of twisted guilt complex over their good fortune, or worse yet, by some
who have the more sinister agenda in mind of wealth consolidation and putting
an end to the personal freedom that is America as we know it. Either way, I
prefer to be part of the solution that refines and enhances a proven free
market system which has literally fed billions of people around the globe, a
fact that is simply unchallengeable by any person with an ounce of
integrity.

Anyway, I always promise myself I will not do this outside
of my town hall stuff and closed door political discussions, as it requires a
great deal of effort beyond what I tell myself I have time for, but sometimes I
just can’t help it. The simplistic and foolish mindset /approach to what ails
us these days, by those on the left who simply refuse to acknowledge what
America is, while continuing to reject any notion of employing some of what is
right about her to the benefit of all, continues to inspire me to the fight out
in the open.

So be advised “lefties”, this “righty” will sit down in any
discussion and admit, (as I have many times), that this is not a perfect
system, and that there is surely compromise to be had on both sides for the
good of the Republic and this “best arrangement for mankind under God”. This is
what the Framers intended and it works when it is not marred and handicapped by
falsehoods and / or false “prophets”. But if it is your intention to remake The
United States of America into something resembling every failed social
experiment smoldering on the blood soaked trash heaps of history, or those
suffering under the crushing weight of the failed policies enacted by their
“progressive” leadership today, then pick up a weapon and stand opposed. At
least then I will know an honorable enemy with conviction. For my part, it is
all so my boy may realize and share in this great and decent endeavor unlike
any in the history of mankind. I owe him that.. These are truly “the times that
try men’s souls”…

“Vigilance” is not fear… (UPDATE)

JenniLynn Watson

It just seems so much has changed
from when I was growing up. We all would walk to school without fear of
abduction, play at the ball field before dinner unsupervised for hours on end,
and ride our bikes for what seemed like hundreds of miles. Our parents had a
quiet confidence about the places we went and the parents of our friends. We
lived our childhood and adolescence with taught caution, but not fear.

Why then are we now forced to read of the almost daily
kidnappings, sexual assaults and the like? Has our society truly changed that
much? Are there really more sick SOB’s out prowling our streets surveiling us
and our children? Have we become hardened and accepting of a perceived reality
and therefore are no longer suspicious when we should be? Are there more
stitches missing from our moral fiber, or maybe the 24 hour news cycle has just
perfected the gruesome art of bringing it all into our living rooms every day
and night in HD, giving the impression of a growing epidemic? I’m not
completely sure of the answer, but when I look at the cases of Elizabeth Smart
and Jaycee Dugard, I think it may be all of the above. Consequently, as I comb
the old and new media gorging myself on the political and international
headlines that usually set the stage for my blog and other writing, I am always
stopped cold when I see a story like the one unfolding in upstate New York
concerning missing college Student Jenni-Lyn Watson. My heart breaks as I
imagine the pain and utter frustration that must fill the hearts of parents who
have made great sacrifice and invested much love in a child like this, only to
have her snatched from their lives. Mind you, I am not so naïve to think that
there will ever be a time when we are completely rid of all the sorry bastards
that would do us harm, but I do think we have lost something of our defense and
must get it back quickly.

Preparedness is not paranoia. Vigilance is not fear. And
calling police to investigate an unusual vehicle or unfamiliar person in the
neighborhood is not over reacting. Now I’m no psychologist, but if I’ve learned
anything having worked in both the state and federal prison systems, it is that
the criminal predator will prey on the weak and inattentive every time. He is a
coward who must know a concrete boundary and understand that there will be a
great consequence for his actions. This is called a deterrent, and our current
incarceration doctrine in American is quite insufficient in this regard.

Unfortunately, it is and remains a numbers game. The Police
simply cannot be everywhere and so we must accept responsibility for our own
safety and that of our families. This will always involve simple awareness of
our surroundings and the potential for danger. When we have achieved this
awareness then we may train ourselves to react to that danger with appropriate
methods and tools. In the end, these are monsters that have come to take from
us what we hold dear, and they have many faces. So while we wait and pray that
Jenni-Lyn is somehow ok and will return to her family soon, please make that
call when all does not seem right. Keep your head up and eyes front when making
your way to your vehicle this holiday shopping season, and have those keys in
hand. Do not answer the door when you are unsure of who is on the other side. Together,
let us begin to restore some of that sense of security that we remember while
simultaneously putting question and fear of response/retaliation back in the
minds of those who would make us victims.

Update: In the end it was a disgruntled “boyfriend” who
allegedly took the life of this shining young person with so much potential.
Consequently, we can never ignore what may seem a “cute” and endearing form of
flattery, but may mask the jealous rage of a killer. I know this, as a very
similar case happened right in the small town in which I live. Without knowing
all of the details though, I can only emphasize that we are the keepers of our
children’s well-being in so many ways, even after they become very young
adults. Take nothing for granted. Rest in peace young Jenni-Lyn…

How can you not be outraged???

As I continue to count the days
until one of these slimy little Jihadists manages to thwart the best efforts of
our valiant law enforcement agencies, I cannot help but be dumbfounded by the
response of our elected officials and the political arm of the TSA to the
airline security issue.
