Scott Walker Wisconsin
I admit that I’ve had
reservations about bringing my young son to the RI State Capital Building
during some of my more contentious debates there, but I do feel it’s important
that he understand the government that is legislating his future. He is a bright
young kid who is frankly more concerned with being like his old man than
anything else at this point. Nonetheless, it does my heart good to answer his
eager questions and explain the many artifacts at our beautiful state house in
between my rants.
Having said this, I was quite alarmed when I heard that
Wisconsin teachers were bringing young school children to the state capital to
protest. I was even more alarmed when I caught it on the news and heard the
little ones chanting the union mantra, “Scott Walker has to go”, and I’ll bet
if you asked those tykes who Scott walker is, 2/3 couldn’t tell ya…
Look people, giving your little one a civics lesson is one
thing. Allowing them to be indoctrinated into the political philosophy of the
local public school teachers union is quite another. I listen very closely to
my little guy and if I hear someone else’s voice, that solidarity “playa”
better be a runnin’ at full gallop when I ride into the school parking lot…
This is getting way out of hand people…

The scenes from Japan are
reminiscent of WWII. The destruction is beyond comprehension, and there is no
escaping the fact that this catastrophe will continue to grow. There have been
many aftershocks that are actually smaller earthquakes in their strength, and
this has complicated the matter of the nuclear plants already compromised by
the initial event and subsequent tsunami.
I am not a nuclear physicist, nor an expert on nuclear power
plants, but I can tell you from my basic research over the years, while
debating the power sources feasibility, that the “pressure vessel
containment systems” in two of these facilities in Japan, may have now
been damaged by steam and hydrogen explosions, in such a fashion that if they
are not “cooled” adequately within the next 24 to 72 hours, a complete meltdown
of the core reactor systems could occur and deadly radiation will then be released
into the atmosphere. While I do not wish to be accused of starting a panic,
simple prudence and preparedness should be the order of the day for the Pacific
Islands and yes, the West Coast of the United States. Ultimately, if you are
waiting for straight answers from the Japanese Government, or our own for that
matter, it is at your own peril.
With that said, I remind all of you to send whatever you can
to the Red Cross relief fund, as this is the best way to get help to the folks
that most need it on the ground. God please protect our military as they
provide relief to the stricken island nation…

I seem to remember a
condescending new POTUS reminding us of the notion that elections do have
consequences, and he was correct. The difference here is that the Republican
Governor in Wisconsin is not trying to make a political, albeit a satirical
point to the vanquished. He is making the very valid point that time has run
out to address the critical mass situation facing his state, and also that he
has heard the voice of the electorate and chosen to act rather than demonize
the opposition and postulate over a solution. The question now is will the
people be buffaloed by union thugs and professional, progressive anarchist
protesters with hidden agendas, or will they give this elected Governor a chance
to make good on his campaign promises?
Maybe you all should be thankful to still be employed…
Check out this one from Time Magazine. I guess that speech
the POTUS received so many accolades for after the Giffords shooting only
applies to the opposition. Disgraceful hypocrisy…

I cannot remember a time when
things in the world seemed so precarious. So as rescue efforts continue in
Japan, and fuel rods in one of their crippled nuclear reactors are now exposed
in what the Prime Minister of Japan is calling the worst disaster since WWII,
our President can be found where, on the links that’s where. You may even find
him at the Gridiron Dinner poking fun at John Boehner’s skin color once again.
Did I mention Libya is descending into a police state and rebels there are on
the verge of being rounded up and slaughtered by pro-Gaddafi mercenaries. Oh
and gas prices continue to skyrocket here at home fueling fears of uncontrolled
inflation. Can I pile on and throw in that the interest on our debt is pushing
that debt further in line with our entire GDP.
I’m not sure, but the picture I would much rather see, is of
the POTUS hunkered down in the Oval Office plotting solutions to the myriad of
nightmares facing this country, and frankly the whole world right now. I
continue to be amazed at the Amateur approach to the most powerful seat of
power in the entire world, and how this man and his Administration seem
oblivious, or even uncaring of the consequences of inaction.
I guess WH policy concerning crisis of any kind moving
forward, will be 18 holes to clear the mind…

As I have reminded you all too
many times, the volume of email and comments I receive often precludes my
ability to respond. However, when my (better half) sends me one, I must oblige.
She is very proud of the success of my “blog and other writing
adventures” and has posted one of my sites on her social media platform.
This is in response to an individual’s critique of her post…
I would like to think we have “evolved” for lack of a better
term, not necessarily in the Darwinist mold, but through our God given “human
experience”. Man’s ability to rationalize however, has stunted that evolution
at times, and we have surely suffered as a race because of it. With that said,
the constant drum beat of those whose opinions are somehow “factual”
above all others, is always an entertaining prospect for me. I suppose the
internet has a lot to do with this, insomuch as it can sometimes be difficult
to sort fact from fiction.
In all of human history there has been oppression of some
kind as well as the fight to end it. Nationalism, religious, political, we see
it on display in all its forms today. The problem comes when folks confuse
learning the lessons of history with reliving it, and refuse to acknowledge
that it is only “mankind’s” application of these things that has misrepresented
and corrupted them. This is complicated further still, by others taking a bit
of “liberty” with the truth, or even hijacking that truth to suit their purpose
or ideological persuasion. I guess “We the People” on all sides of an argument
have been guilty of this at one time or another, but it is the “civil” and
logical debate of any issue in a free state that I personally cherish. The
results of many of those debates have given way to a country that has done more
for the human condition than any in recorded history.
Now there are those who will continue to re-visit and
revise, but I choose to learn and move forward. The fact that I may not agree
with what you have derived from the same exchange, should never be cause for
vitriolic assertions and/or hatred, and the fact that something has happened in
the past, should never be a reason for it to happen again, or worse yet, to
silence one side of an argument in this Republic so many have died to preserve.
Simply put, we are not living in ancient times, nor are we even living in the
more recent past. This is not to ignore the reality of history, but rather to
make that history one part of the “civil discourse”. On this I have always been
more vocal than many.
Remember, emotion is a contentious concept for some and it
often clouds their judgment. Sadly, we have all said and done things we have
and will regret. It is a mechanism of our being. However, if I have learned
anything from my place in the pundit world, it is to tread lightly in the
minefield of emotion, as that experiment unchecked, often leads to bitterness
and misplaced anger. As a consequence, I have drawn down a firm line between
“passion” and emotion. It is passion that drives me to the unrelenting “study”
of all that I embrace. For this reason I remain comfortable in my belief that
this nation, and the values to which it aspires, remains the best hope for
mankind. For those who doubt this, I would only suggest they step outside the
umbrella of freedom afforded them here, and walk on the other side for a time
as I have. We are blessed more than most understand.
Simplistic as this may seem to some, it gives me great
solace to know that while clearly not perfect, no nation on earth has risen to
the challenges of human existence in such expeditious fashion as ours, and no
nation has spilled more blood at the altar of freedom than the United States of
America. It is that understanding of our purpose, and the sacrifice born of it,
that makes this process even possible.
I know he has been quoted in many instances, and there are
those who will always point this out to me, but I do like this one:
Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable… Every
step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle;

It is not only time to kick in
and help the people of Japan, but it is also time to prepare here at home. I am
always hesitant to sound off about “preparedness” as the Left “Wingnuts” are
quick to call it “Paranoia”. However, I have always felt that it is (better to
have and not need, than to need and not have). This must be true in all things.
Consequently, and in view of the mounting catastrophe in Japan, we here in the
States should endeavor to do the basics. Stock up on what you can and keep the
tanks full.
Doing what I do on these pages does not always allow me the
luxury of “one storyism” as I like to call it, but rather reminds me that we
simply can’t take our eye off the ball in these rapidly changing times. The
Middle East remains a caldron and the Israeli/Palestinian issue has been stoked
once again. Five members of an Israeli Family in the West Bank settlement of
Itamar, including a three month old baby, were slaughtered at the end of a
terrorist knife while they slept last night. Tensions are running high as you
can imagine, and Israel has now removed all roadblocks to the settlement while
vowing retaliation. The Arab League has all but approved a “no fly zone” over
Libya and obviously expects that the United States will lead the way. I liken
the world today to the very tectonic plates which have caused the unimaginable
disaster in Japan. A great tension that is poised to be released in a manner
that is difficult to predict.
Appropriately, I’m always mindful of labels. For this reason
I chose my words carefully so they may not promote an undesired result or be
wasted on “pointless” debate. So with every perspective based
caution, I am simply saying to all Americans that we are living in dangerous
and unpredictable times. And much as “preparedness” was a bandied about word
during the height of the “Cold War”, it should also be the word for today.
Ultimately, the final responsibility for your personal
safety and security, as well as that of your family will fall to you. Stop for
moment and ask yourself, are you prepared in the event of crisis???

We are truly a powerful creation
of God. Many times the vanity that results from that determination is our
peril. So it is as we watch the events unfolding in Japan today, that we take
stock of the true fragility of human life, and reconcile the color of the blood
that runs through the veins of all mankind. In times such as these, it is
imperative that we put Ideological and international borders aside, rally
behind humanity and come to the aid of our fellow man.
I believe deep inside that this thought process is
predetermined by our maker and that it is only up to us to acknowledge it. To
rise above our differences and “vanity” is to live as God intended. Very “pie
in the sky” I know, but as the pictures and video pour in from Okumamachi,
Fukushima Prefecture and the surrounding provinces, I am reminded of how in an
instant, despite all of our “technology”, any and all of our lives could be
extinguished or placed in grave danger.
Sometimes in our rush to think in the micro, we forget the
macro. We tend to lose site of the smaller blessings that are all around us and
thus we are conditioned to see our world through the lens of the 24 hour news
sound bite. My friends, real human beings are now fighting for their very
lives. Entire families and even neighborhoods have been washed away, and a
national populous is dazed and confused. We must think in much broader terms
today.
We are from different cultures and countries, and this is
true and acceptable. With that said, I am confident that as it has always been
one of the great hallmarks of this nation to act, Americans will rally to the
aide of the Japanese people in their time of need. But in doing so, I ask that
you pray as well. Pray that God will grant us a universal acceptance of one
another around the globe, and that the value of a single human life is elevated
to its righteous pedestal. Only then does it seem we will be one as a human
race and thus bettered prepared in the face of such calamity.
Please help the people of Japan in any way you can…

Jason Foreman
In 1975, young Jason Foreman went
missing in South Kingston Rhode Island. Not until 7 years later and the
attempted murder of another child was his abductor arrested, pleading guilty to
second degree murder in the death of 5 year old Jason. The “monster”
lived just yards from the Foreman home. Michael Woodmansee has now served 70%
of a 40 year plea deal sentence for his crimes and is scheduled to be released
pending a number of “pre-requisite evaluations”.
For those who read my blog with any regularity, you know of
my passion for the children and my heartfelt belief that if we cannot do right
by God’s little ones, then all of our other efforts are futile. So as we all
read and learn of this miscarriage of justice, outrage is understandably the
word of the day. I know this because I remember the chill this case sent
through the souls of parents in the Ocean State, including mine. Though barely
11, I remember my father’s anger and rage, but cannot write what his remedy on
behalf of little Jason’s parents would have been.
As with many cases of this sort, new details often come to
light after many years and it appears this one is no different. In a heart
wrenching interview with local radio personality John DePetro of WPRO 630 AM,
John Foreman spoke of new revelations of sexual assault and cannibalism
regarding his son’s murder that were apparently written in Woodmansee’s diary
which has been in the custody of the State of Rhode Island since the close of
the case. When we add this to the already gruesome details of the murder,
including the fact the Woodmansee kept the “shellacked” bones and skull of his
child victim in his second floor bedroom, it is incomprehensible to conceive of
any legitimate or acceptable release date for this unimaginable monster.
So as a father myself, and in solidarity with Mr. DePetro, I
am pledging whatever support I can to Mr. Foreman and his family, and making
the following information available to all of you so you may do the same. From
parents, to police officers, prosecutors to politicians and judges, let your
voices be heard. Take nothing for granted. From the observation of a concerned
neighbor to the legislation proposed by our local Representatives to amend the
laws which address these predators among us, let us endeavor to do everything within
our human abilities to protect all children everywhere from the evil of Michael
Woodmansee and those like him.
We must never forget this little boy…

Baradei has announced his intention to run for President of Egypt, and make no
mistake, he will win. While we fight with Progressive fools who will not be

of power and slowly implement their twisted version of Sharia Law overseas.
Afghanistan remains a battle ongoing. President of Nuclear

whenever and wherever it can. Libya is on the brink of civil war, and there is

The problem is we have known it
all along, or at least those of us who have been paying attention have known
it. $500 Billion, or ½ Trillion dollars have been double counted toward the
amount of savings that would result with the implementation of so called “Obama
Care”. Let’s be very clear people, they are taking this money from Medicare and
then funding the new healthcare law, when they originally stated that the
“savings” would translate into a reduction in the deficit. Throw in the recent
revelation that a $105 Billion Dollar slush fund exists within the pages of the
law which ensures implementation outside of voter will.
We are not talking chump change. This is an extraordinary
amount of previously “borrowed” money, that has been double counted. The extent
to which we have been hoodwinked by the 111th Congress and this President is
staggering and speaks to how important it is we be stalwart stewards of our
government. At no time in our history have the stakes been so high and the
amounts so inconceivable. Many of you may remember when I posted concerning
this “double counting” as a means to actually make the numbers work. Through
the entire process, not one of the “main stream” media outlets was reporting
this “miscalculation”, and not even the so called right leaning Fox
News was sure of what it meant or how to reconcile it. Now it seems it was as
easy as Stuart Varney and I thought it was. $500 Billion dollars in Ghost
“savings” that was being lauded as a more than significant reason for
supporting the monumental takeover of our health care system in this country.
Just another wakeup call America. Are you listening?? Please

phone number?? I used to “love” The Love Boat. Well, at least when Lauren Tewes
was the Cruise Director. Never the less, now it seems Yeoman Smith (Gopher) has
the headlines. Former star of the ocean going sitcom turned talk show host,
Fred Grandy, has apparently stirred it up a bit with the Muslim Community in
Washington D.C., over comments made on local WMAL, the station which hosts his
show, “The Grandy Group”. Grandy, also a former Congressman, often
stages mock interviews with his wife who goes by the name of “Mrs. Fred” on the
air. Evidently, the segments include “Terrorism 101” and give legitimate
examples of Muslim extremism here in America, as well as address the lack of
effort by our current leadership in recognizing or combating it. As one can
imagine in the confusing and politically correct atmosphere that exists of
late, the station brass apparently asked that his wife tone down the “radical
Islam stuff”. Eventually, she was yanked from the air and husband Fred abruptly
resigned in protest.
The gist of the story here is that a certain “advocacy”
group, (Council on American Islamic Relations), has obviously chimed in and
muzzled free speech once again. Never mind that every thing the Grandy’s were
saying was true and must be part any legitimate debate on the matter of modern
Islam in America.
Make note, this type of hypocrisy and denial will ultimately
play a major role in future violence here on our own soil. Home grown
Islamofascists, fueled by our ignorance and complacency, are counting on it.
Deep Water Jobs???

You may remember a friend I wrote
of, who spearheaded a fundraising effort for those affected by the BP/Deep
Water oil spill. I am happy to report that she has kept up with folks who have
been assisting in distribution of monies raised for that cause. There remain
people of initiative and caring in our society today, and it is often the boost
I need at times to continue this “crusade”. It did remind me of a related topic
though, which is in line with what I posted yesterday.
I would first point out that at the same point in his
Presidency, Ronald Reagan’s policies resulted in a net unemployment correction
of approximately 3.3 %, or a little over 3 points to the positive. During
Obama’s first 20 months of effort, the result is a mere ½ of 1 percentage
point. Now while I am happy for any Americans returning to, or being afforded
the opportunity for work, this is not a reason for blissful adoration of the
current Administration. Now I know that my detractors will scream “Great
Depression”, and “Bush was the devil”, but enough with that ridiculous BS…!
I understand that Interior Secretary Ken Salazar recently
testified to Congress that “despite the Deep Water Horizon Crisis, oil
production remains at an all-time high”. Well that’s true “Kenny”, but it is
also true that the Presidents drilling moratorium has limited “growth” in the
area, and will cause an actual 13% drop in that same production scale this year
alone. Moreover, this translates to a well over 200,000 barrel per day loss and
with it the many jobs that would have been gained with reduced drilling
regulation, hence my assertion that this bunch remains out of touch with
reality or is simply ignoring it. You might want to add the exploding gas
prices as another reason to put aside any of your “Sierra Club” tendencies at
this point in time!! We are dying!
We can do this… It is a matter of “We the People” doing our
homework, understanding our dilemma and changing the business of politics in
our country today. Not re-writing the business, but returning it to what was
intended. Speak up people. The clock is ticking more loudly than any of us can
remember and time is running out to change course. The fix will certainly hurt,
but working together we can ensure that America’s best days are truly still
ahead of her…

Good News
There is good news and bad news
this Friday, and despite what the Left may think of my presentation at times,
let it be known that I too am anxious and hopeful about our nations rise to
prosperity once again. First the good news…
It appears applications for jobless benefits fell to their
lowest level since 2008 last week. There was also good reason for celebration
regarding many of the growth numbers in major economic indicators like
manufacturing and retail sales. People are spending money and seem focused on
“recovery”. This moved the DOW back from big losses the last few days. The U.S.
economy is doing what a free market economy will always do in 10 year cycles.
Markets will flush excesses, inventories will thin and recover, and spendable
cash will make its way back into the hands of consumers in a process unlike any
in the world.
Now for the bad news: Let us first look at the debt issue so
you can understand how much this is all costing us. During the early days of
the Obama Administration the debate over “bailouts” was intense, and with good
reason. And while I do not disagree that action was needed to stabilize
“certain entities”, the bank bail outs specific, including Fannie Mae
and Freddie Mac, were mishandled to say the least, and have lead to confusion
and additional debt that continues to mask itself in different forms even
still. The “Stimulus” package only added to that debt and has done little to
“stimulate” anything accept the public sector job market, and most of those jobs
will eventually go unfunded as the money dries up. Nearly $800 Billion dollars
has been borrowed from foreign countries and expended in ways that speak only
to government solutions as opposed to American ingenuity and entrepreneurism.
Ultimately, the incredible cost of this experiment will most assuredly fall to
the cities and states, whose elected leaders are already contemplating their
own financial disasters at this very moment. Unfunded pension obligations,
unchecked entitlement spending/national healthcare, prohibitive taxes, costly
regulations and inflation have pushed local governments to critical mass, and
the full measure of this coming tsunami is yet unknown.
Sadly, “recovery” is not yet in the cards for America. What
we are seeing is the face of our economic engine in motion, but it cannot go on
forever unsupported. It is akin to an impression without real substance and
verification, and the President of these United States, along with a previously
Democrat Congress, have handicapped genuine progress with a price tag that will
affect generations to come if we do not take matters in hand with urgency.

I’m kind of stuck in a local
groove right now. Ironically, my home state of Rhode Island seems a microcosm
of our nation and all of its issues. Higher taxes, growing inflation, gas
prices on the rise, persistent unemployment, unfunded state pensions and a
problem with illegal immigrants.
On the “illegals” issue, it seems my “locally illegal” blog
was ahead of its time judging by the email I’ve been getting. Of recent, RI
State Police Colonel Brendan Doherty chastised a former colleague, current
Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare, for his plans to opt out of
the “Secure Communities” program being promoted by RI Attorney General Peter
Kilmartin. The program allows local law enforcement to compare the fingerprints
of individuals legally charged with a crime against a federal database to
determine their legal status and/or if there are any criminal or deportation
warrants issued against them. Doherty, who headed up a similar program alliance
with ICE, with the blessing of former RI Governor Donald Carcieri, contends
that it “defies logic” not to participate and take full advantage of
this obviously effective and modern crime fighting tool available to local law
enforcement. He went a step further and wrote in an official press release that
“It is truly disappointing that the City of Providence has adopted its
position. … The city’s attempt to prohibit the good men and women of the
Providence Police Department from participating in this very important
cooperative program, during this day and age, is dangerous and irresponsible.”
Pare’s contention is that illegals will hesitate to
cooperate with local law enforcement for fear of deportation. This thought
process is shared by the current ethically challenged and embattled Providence
Police Chief Dean Esserman, and went along nicely with former Mayor David
Cicilline’s social justice and “sanctuary city” philosophy. To his credit,
Current Mayor Angel Taveras has stepped back a bit and reached out to the
Department of Homeland Security for direction.
Now one can read the above and think, well it couldn’t get
more confusing than this, wrong…. Rhode Island’s (Liberal posing as an
Independent) Governor Lincoln Chafee chimed in today and basically muzzled his
State Police Colonel in a private meeting. You must understand, Chafee pandered
heavily to the Latino and “illegal” communities during his campaign and
subsequent 36% of the vote victory in a three way race back in November. Chafee
explained that he did not want a feud of this sort ongoing while he “formulated”
his policy to address the AG’s Secure Communities federal initiative. One would
think our Governor would recognize that this is a simple matter of (enforcing
the law), and that he would be behind his very experienced chief law
enforcement officer on the matter, and use him in that formulation process…
Oh well, though my contempt for this disingenuous hack is well known, I must
say again that he couldn’t shine his late father’s shoes…
Anyway, being the political junkie that I am, I have been on
the local radio shows quite a bit lately trumpeting the notion that most folks
look to our police to actually “enforce the law”, but I have added something of
late. For my readers outside of Rhode Island I should preface this by telling
you that Colonel Brendan Doherty is a highly respected Trooper not only in my
home state, but around the country. His work as a premiere crime fighter
chasing down New England organized crime figures as a Detective for the RISP is
legendary. Having said this, my message to Governor Chafee now includes the
following: You would do well Sir, to take the advice of your “Top Cop” and make
sure he remains in law enforcement for a while, because the day he leaves and
possibly decides to go into politics, is the day you should start packing up
your office.

Very often when newly elected Governors have differences of
opinion with someone they view as a subordinate, that subordinate will usually
part company with the new Administration and is then replaced with someone
more, shall we say, “sympathetic” to that Administrations political endeavors.
Such was the case when Brendan P. Doherty came out of retirement to replace
departing Colonel Steven Pare, and lead his beloved Rhode Island State Police
to great heights at the request of Republican and Former Governor Donald
Carcieri.
However, as we learn of Colonel Doherty’s departure today,
the situation seems quite different in a number of ways. The very public
“disagreement” between the aforementioned and now newly appointed Providence
Public Safety Commissioner Pare and Colonel Doherty, combined with what we
understand is RI Governor Lincoln Chafee’s stated position on illegal
immigration in my home state, has introduced a new and intriguing dynamic to
this already broiling controversy. Moreover, Doherty’s iconic and well
publicized law enforcement career, as well as his unchallenged work ethic and
integrity, have raised eyebrows in the political world, as it becomes apparent
to anyone paying attention that this guy would make a formidable candidate.
With Congressional elections a mere two years out, that will
coincide with what is sure to be an extraordinary Presidential contest, there a
number of politicians in my Little Rhody who have good reason to worry should
this law enforcement giant decide to try his hand at politics. Even one Lincoln
Chafee, who by any measure is going to have a very rough at best four years
ahead of him, might have been much better off to just leave sleeping dogs lie
on this one.
Rhode Island law enforcement is diminished this night, this
is true, but I for one am excited at the announcement, as we here in Rhode
Island have been in need of leadership of late. As our state has been laid
wasted by a generational strangle hold perpetrated by a corrupt Democrat
Legislature, those of us who have not fled the state for greener pastures, have
been waiting patiently for the likes of a Brendan Doherty. And to those
“politics as usual” folks who we know will be sure to preach should Doherty get in the game, (we need
experience…), I would only say that if experience has brought us to our
current “state” of affairs, then let us certainly regroup and start again with
integrity first!
Good luck to you Colonel Doherty. The Rhode Island State
Police has undoubtedly benefited from your years as a Trooper and as
Superintendent, and with that your law enforcement legacy is secure. You will
have my support and best wishes no matter your intentions, though it is no
secret how I would like to see this story play out.

I have said that I have opinions
on both sides of this argument, and I do agree that problems decades in the
making will not be solved overnight. That said, President Obama has now decided
to pipe up on the union issue stating that it is not right to “vilify” unions
at this time. I agree with the POTUS on that point, however, has he been
watching the coverage in Wisconsin and seen who is vilifying who? Is he
familiar with some of the real players? (You bet he is). Does he realize that
Federal employees do not enjoy collective bargaining in any form that looks
like that of state and municipal employees? And finally, does he understand
with any degree of common sense that a true “public servant” pursues that
“service” based on a strong desire to actually “serve” his/her fellow citizen,
or at least they should?
This is what I believe is the root of the problem for
“public sector” unions today. Despite the fact the “worker” argument has been
hijacked by the far left Progressives, and the message co-opted into some
twisted Socialist/Communist equality thing, the real issue here is the word
“service” and what is fair and equitable compensation for that commitment. I
have often said, and strongly believe today, that many within the organized
labor movement have lost sight of (or never had it to begin with) the fundamental
reasons and sacrifice that go along with any public service employment.
Consequently, there is a financial limit to what the general public can
reconcile against that service, as they are now ultimately forced to choose
between the two. This is unfair and the union folk know it, but it is the time
tested battle tactic of their far left sponsors, (class warfare). The problem
for them now, is their compensation and lifestyles often surpass that of many
in the private sector, and those struggling folks are no longer accepting of
the explanations for that divide. They are the ones who now appear to be the
“elitists”.
At some point public sector union members are going to have
to make a choice, a choice between messages and who is delivering them. Some
time ago I was in a “discussion” at my own state capital building with a local
public sector union official who shall remain nameless, though I know he reads
and “comments” on my stuff. It was during that “conversation” that I
realized the rank and file membership must begin to hold their leaders to a
much higher standard. When I think back to that night, and then watch some of
the footage from Wisconsin, I am disheartened to say the least. My political
beliefs aside, it is time for the American union rank and file, both public and
private to shed the likes of Richard Trumka. This relic of a bygone era, and
those like him, are thugs and liars of the highest order in it for themselves,
and will remain roadblocks to any sensible solutions to the many organized
labor and associated economic issues that surely lie ahead.
As difficult as it is, I want you to watch this short video.
The person who made it makes a very good point. Now to some it may seem a bit
out of context, and if it does, I would ask that you go and learn your history.
There is a means to every end, and it must begin somewhere. The seeds of
cultural revolution in this country are being planted today, and it is up to
“We the People” to protect this nations “true creed” from
those who would corrupt it to suit their progressive entitlement agenda. This
is the “bigger picture” I speak of folks… Ignore it, dismiss it, at
your own peril and that of your children.

parties” at the state house, nostalgic Jimmy Hoffa chants, vulgar and vitriolic
posters and signs, and now assaulting reporters from media outlets that don’t
have the initials NBS, CBS, ABC, CNN or MSNBC. Is it any wonder the general
(nonunion) public is trending away from supporting “Big Labor”?
This is where the conflict exists for me. When I see “Move
on” and other left wing quasi socialist and even communist entities organizing
these demonstrations, my blood boils. And when I see some thug assaulting “any”
reporter and acting like the street scum over in the Middle East, I want to run
as far away from my union affiliation as my feet will carry me. That is after
I… Well, I let you fill in the rest.
It is now time to move these “professional protesters” out
of the Wisconsin Capital Building! It is time for the shenanigans to end and
for serious discussions to commence! It is time for politicians elected to do
the people’s business to do just that, or resign immediately!
This entire exercise has diminished unions in the eyes of
many of its own supporters. As I am fond of pointing out when doing the
business of my own association, “good faith bargaining” should and must be
practiced by both parties to the issue, and while I have opinions on both sides
of this argument, I remain sickened by the 60’s era thuggery being displayed by
some of my colleagues. These are serious times that require serious people, not
a bunch of lazy ass fools with a selfish, entitlement and elitist agenda who
refuse to acknowledge the empty trough in front of their face.
This incident was applauded on the “Huffington
Post”. I mean come on people. Who takes that woman seriously? Really?? Did
anyone get the number of the truck full of plastic surgeons that ran over her
face??? Enough already… .

Does it come as any surprise that
Russia and China are side stepping possible United Nations sanctions and other
actions against Libya? Do the murderous and inhuman tactics of Muammar
al-Qaddafi surprise any of you, and does anyone “really” believe that a man who
has stashed stolen billions around the world will respond to “sanctions” of any
sort? And finally, does anyone think for a minute that this sociopath who very
likely ordered the bombing of Pam Am 103 and other terrorist related attacks
really gives a hoot what Barack Obama says?
If I were giving this POTUS advice, (wouldn’t that be
hilarious), I would tell him that this is your time to actually and finally
look like a world leader as opposed to a European yes man and apologist for the
United States. Put a strike team in place to take out this lunatic the next
time he shows his ugly mug in public, and don’t tell me it can’t be done. There
are military operations units that train for and wait patiently on the day they
may utilize that training in the name of freedom. Trust me I know. And unlike
Egypt, when that mission is accomplished, exert the full political and economic
pressure of the United States to promote real freedom. (Note to all you
Progressives out there who think I mean “Western style democracy), I am
speaking only of the promotion of basic and unalienable human rights for all
people of any free nation as a priority, simple tenets that Progressive
ideologues like George Soros see as troublesome road blocks to the collective
utopia.
But alas, tough talk and teleprompters are the message we
send to the world, while Russia and China continue to upstage and subvert our
nation at every opportunity, while simultaneously and methodically exerting
their influence around the globe. My prior post describes some of the very
obvious dilemmas we face here at home, but when viewed through the lens of
world events, and our Presidents foreign policy approach, the outlook is even
more ominous.

I keep hearing about how the
POTUS along with his Liberal cheerleaders who have been defending the stimulus
as if it were the Alamo, are “hopeful” that higher gas prices resulting from
trouble abroad won’t hurt the “recovering” economy. ENOUGH! THERE IS NO
RECOVERY!!!
The U.S. economy is doing what it always does and that is to
grow. This is true for a variety of fundamental but foundational free market
realities. In fact, the only thing that is happening is the irresponsible and
reckless spending and subsequent debt brought on by this Administration is
slowing that growth dramatically. To observe this “recovery” is akin to
watching a tractor pull, and all my redneck friends know how that eventually
ends up. (A giant engine laden tracker is eventually bogged down by an
excessive weight digging in while being towed). It’s really quite dramatic…
Anyway, it is now apparent that much of the “government”
stimulus which was applied to the “government” sector is now running out and
those “employees” are heading back to the unemployment line. Adding insult to
injury, even the smaller funding aimed at new “clean energy” projects appears
to have been spent in vain, as there is clearly no market for these products at
this time and no one is buying them. Companies that have received these
incentives are laying off workers and some are now being scrutinized as bad
investments having never turned a dime of profit. Experimenting in times of
crisis with an untested and unproven approach is not how to pull an economy
such as this out of the ditch.
The other day, someone argued with me that the sale of
pre-owned homes is up, to which I shot back, ok, and the sale of new homes is
down double digits you fool, and foreclosures are up again. Moreover, will the
measure of this “recovery” be gaged by the sale of depressed and foreclosed
property to savvy real-estate folks who know a good deal when they see one,
especially when home prices are collapsing? Will the measure of this “recovery”
be gaged by modest at best consumer spending reports ahead of inflation most
folks have admitted they know is coming? Will this “recovery” be gaged by
$4.00+ a gallon gas that will drive that inflation to heights not seen in a
generation? Has 9% unemployment somehow become acceptable, or worse yet, the
new norm? What recovery??? This is the fastest car on the track with an engine
going down.
Look people, no one want’s recovery more than I do, but it
is frustrating beyond belief to listen to folks who have bought this crap hook,
line and sinker. As a political observer however, it is nothing short of
amazing to watch this POTUS sell it.
Make no mistake, and I want all of you to remember I wrote
this, we will be lucky as a nation to survive the age of Obama. Sadly, in the
end it will be “We the People” who bear the burden of our failure to
distinguish between change for the good, and a feel good Progressive assault on
all that makes this country work, and that will eventually destroy our
children’s America.

Many apologies to “We the
People”, as I have been very busy with some local issues. I suppose the fact
that I get a lot of email when I skip a day or two is testament to the notion
that my writing is at least a little interesting. Anyway, it turns out I can
share some of my recent observations with you now.
The November elections certainly showed us that Americans
overall, see their government as a bit hypocritical, and would like for
Washington to be more “sensitive” to what is going on in the “real” world. For
instance, the illegal immigration problem nationally, was on display locally
here in my Little Rhody recently. Newly elected Latino Mayor of Providence
Angel Taveras made it very clear during his campaign that he would continue the
“sanctuary city” policy of his predecessor David Cicilline, newly elected
Congressman for the First District. Now you all know how I feel about
Cicilline, so I won’t go there today accept to say that Rhode Islanders remain
their own worst enemies in many ways, as is evidenced by our national standing.
But having said that, this “sanctuary city” thing is both puzzling and
alarming. Hang in there with me a minute on this one…
Mayor Tavares recently recruited Retired State Police
Colonel Steven Pare straight out of a very lucrative private sector gig to be
his new Public Safety Commissioner. Among other things, that post would have
oversight of the Providence Police Department. Around the same period, newly
elected Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Kilmartin put forth an initiative
through his office, and in conjunction with Homeland Security called the
“Secure Communities Program”. An important part of the program would provide
“ICE” with local tools they might use in an effort to identify and then deal
with illegal immigrant violent offenders. The program has been lauded by law
enforcement agencies around the country as a vital next step in identifying
threats to local neighborhoods. As a means to that end, and to be affective,
city and state police departments would play a major role in the process,
including alerting federal authorities to the presence of illegal “offenders”.
Recently, on a local talk show, Commissioner Pare, (who I
should add is a respected and decorated police officer and detective Ret.),
stuttered a bit and then explained that the city of Providence would seek to
“opt out” of participating in this important program. The common thought
process, or at least what is being projected, is that illegals would hesitate
to cooperate with local law enforcement if they feared deportation as
“illegals”. Unfortunately, it smacks more of political pandering for the Latino
vote than anything else, and it appears that Pare may be onboard. This may be
political loyalty to Mayor Taveras or something else entirely, but it is simply
too early to say.
This brings me to a nagging question that won’t go away, yet
seems to be growing clearer. The word “undocumented” in place of “illegal”
allows apparently sympathetic law enforcement folks like Pare and others an
out, as it relieves them of what I feel is the basic responsibility of all law
enforcement everywhere in the United States, and that it is to “uphold the law”
of the land.
In the end, it all boils down to a rather simple two sided
argument, do we abide by the rule of law or not? For me however, it remains
even simpler yet. How does any Police Officer, no matter his/her rank and
title, put on a badge with the charge of “law enforcement”, and then not
enforce the laws, all of them including federal law?
This debate will continue locally, and it will certainly pit
the likes of Pare, Tavares and Governor Lincoln Chafee against others like AG
Kilmartin and current RI State Police Colonel Brendan Doherty, who led an
earlier and successful collaboration, under then Governor Donald Carcieri, with
federal authorities and officers from his department who received specialized
training in enforcing immigration law. (Governor Chafee has since rescinded an
executive order issued by Carcieri to crack down on illegals). Undoubtedly, it
will be an uphill road for the defenders of the rule of law, as my home state
remains one mired in the consequences of open border politics including rape,
robbery and murder. Wake up RI…

Gay marriage
Ok, for those of you who keep
asking, here is my personal position on gay marriage. While I will continue to
support civil unions that enforce for gay couples, the same “civil rights” as
heterosexual couples, I do not support “marriage” (as is defined as the
cultural and accepted norm, and has been promoted through the annals of modern
time as the foundational basis for the biological family), for homosexual
couples. I view the effort by certain factions of the gay community to lend
credibility and/or legitimize a particular lifestyle, not in the eyes of the
government, but rather in the eyes of a skeptical at best general populous, as
radical, disingenuous and intentionally disruptive, while in promotion of the
fundamental cultural change to our society they actually seek. I do not say
this lightly, and believe with all my heart and soul, that if an “honest”
pollster would phrase the question in terms of, “there being no (legal) difference
between the governmentally recognized (civil union) of a gay couple, in
contrast to that of a heterosexual couple, except for the word (marriage), 2/3
or more would come down on the side of civil unions and oppose any measure to
re-define the word itself.
I am not outwardly religious nor do I stand in judgment of
any man or woman, it is not my place and I understand this. I do however stand
in defense of a time tested set of ideals which have served this country well,
and if this debate is truly about ones “rights” as an American citizen, why
then the unrelenting push to re-define one word? Simply put, it is not possible
to “re-define” marriage.
There I have said it…!
Now may I ask why the hell the President of the United
States and his Constitutionally challenged Attorney General have chosen now to
open this can of worms??? The Middle East is poised to explode. Gas prices and
inflation here at home are going off the charts. The housing market is tumbling
again, while unemployment remains at record levels. Inconceivable debt is
threatening our ability to withstand any of it, and the unions are crying foul.
Oh, I forgot… there’s an election cycle beginning, and someone has to reach out
to his battered and disillusioned base.
I must admit, there are times when I believe this POTUS has
mastered the job. He can say one thing one day, and another the next, subvert
the very Constitution he swore an oath to defend, and play the sycophant main
stream media like a bunch twisted puppets. He has contradicted and manipulated
almost every initiative or position he took on the campaign trail, and has done
so with a skill unmatched even by Clinton. It is truly remarkable. The
altogether scary part however, is reality is looming large right around the
corner, much closer than most would like to admit. Regrettably, our President
seems determined to ride this raft right over the falls, with “We the People”
handcuffed to the side…
Side note: Democrats in states around the country who have
been turned out of the majority by “We the People” are fleeing the political
process like roaches from the light. In their rush to deprive the constituency
of their just and representative government, they can now be seen with laser
clarity for the hypocritical and dishonorable fools they are. Disgracful!!!

Change is in the air folks and it
doesn’t look good for “Big Labor”. More specifically, “public sector” labor
organizations are coming under increasing fire from the general public. No, not
the “Tea Party”, but every day tax payers who appreciate the efforts of police
officers, fire fighters and teachers, but are now beginning to recognize a
“class divide” that seems to exist between them.
I have always believed and have been very vocal over the
years within public sector unions of which I am a part that this day would
come, the day when the line which divides “service” and “sacrifice” would be
defined. You see, while I have always believed that a safety mechanism must be
in place and enforced to protect “all” workers from the illegitimacies that are
sometimes provoked by government and private business alike, there must also be
a recognition by those who organize, that service trumps benefits when vetting
public work of any kind. I personally have done the things in my life because I
wanted to serve, and understood that there was no monetary value that could
ever really be placed on that commitment. It appears however, that public
service, no matter the capacity, is now just a side note and has been co-opted
by pensions and extraordinary benefit packages that are unheard of in the
private sector, and frankly difficult for the “average Joe” to reconcile
against his/her/family struggles.
In the end, money will drive this fight, and organized labor
will emerge only as they are seen by the rest of the citizens via the modern
media. What is happening in Wisconsin is certainly of bellwether type
significance, and while I’m not usually an “I told ya so” kind of guy, those
who know me in this light will remember the “conversations” of almost (30 years
ago) when admittedly, I was very young but maybe not so foolish…
…and this does not help the cause of organized labor…
…and to the Democrats now in hiding, you are all
illegitimate cowards!!!

When we look around these days,
it is easy to miss the feel good stories that are out there. And from my
vantage point as a NASCAR fan, I feel a bit remiss in not recognizing young
Trevor Bayne who achieved the unbelievable by winning the “Great American Race”
on his first try, and on his birthday no less. To put this in perspective, it
took my hero Dale Earnhardt, the greatest stock car driver ever, 20 years to
achieve that same goal.
Congratulations to Trevor and the storied Wood Brothers

Presidents Day 2011
It is altogether proper that we
recognize Presidents Day, and even more so during this centennial year of
President Ronald Reagan’s birth. With this in mind, let me say that Washington
and Lincoln embodied the unique and very special human qualities that are the
envy of the world, whether the enemies of freedom wish to admit it or not.
“First in war, first in peace, first in the hearts of his
countrymen”, Washington inspired a people to the justness of their cause and
the exceptionalism that was born of it. His virtuous and steady hand, even in
the face of great adversity, compelled an army and a people to rally to
victory. In deference to the ideals for which he had fought, and his disdain
for the notion of a personal “monarchy” if had chosen, made him the official
Standard-bearer of all that is special about this great nation.
Unlike Washington, Lincoln’s destiny seemed not so clearly
defined. In the end, it would be his humble yet prophetic ability to inspire by
way of the written and spoken word. In a time of division, Lincolns love of
country and his heartfelt belief that it would not survive under the weight of
inequality, drove him to preserve a union and a belief “that this nation, under
God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by
the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth”.
In these times of uncertainly, it is this author’s
unshakable belief that we should look to the words of our Forefathers and those
who have followed in their footsteps, so we may gain the strength of an earlier
time that is ours by rite of passage should we choose to accept and preserve it
for our posterity.
So on this Presidents Day, and in consideration of my
analysis above and the monumental challenges of our time, let me offer a quote
from the “Great Communicator” which should be enshrined on the walls of every
politician’s office. Read it carefully and more than once if you must before
you form an opinion. It is the central and I think true definition of our
national existence and purpose, and President Reagan “got it”.
“How can we love our country and not love our countrymen;
and loving them, reach out a hand when they fall, heal them when they’re sick,
and provide opportunity to make them self-sufficient so they will be equal in
fact and not just in theory?”

I seem to remember when we
couldn’t even bring a calculator to class. Electric typewriters and pagers
where things I looked at with disdain. My first cell phone was a “car phone”
that a small business associate insisted I get. NEXTEL was next and I began
asking myself, why am I spending all this money? I don’t even like talking on
the phone…
Well cut to 2011, and I am tethered to my Blackberry like
Charlie Rangel to his tax accountant, with a netbook never far away. I get over
100 emails a day and usually put out 1500 to 3000 words of commentary. How did
all this happen, and when did I become such a geek?
Truth be told, I am very fast with the two finger shuffle,
and without spell check, I’m toast. This is sad commentary for a guy who did
not grow up in the age of computers and should be much better at the basics.
Too damn lazy I suppose. Thankfully, I have some of you to help me when I screw
up, by flooding my email box with colorful comments and suggestions about how
and where I received my formal education. I even have a friend who regularly
texts me when I allow my grammar checker to do my work for me. Oh well, she may
find herself in the unenviable and non-compensatory position of proof reading
those 3000 words before they go out every day.
Anyhoo, I think my point this morning is that it is Daytona
weekend, and I am obviously quite distracted by my Red-Neck tendencies. So
please have mercy on this grammatically challenged at times, generationally
confused Conservative pundit, who is merely trying to change the world as we
know it, by way of his extraordinary talent and ability to piss people off …

As an officer of a local
affiliated with one of the most powerful and influential police unions in our
country today, I must often walk a very fine line when reconciling my
Conservative belief system against the popular opinions of the collective
bargaining unit hierarchy of which I am a part.
Having said this, the events in Wisconsin beg my analysis,
if for no other reason than to vent my own frustration on the issue. The
question of big labor in our society during these challenging economic times is
a difficult one, though while outwardly perplexing, there are some very simple
and identifiable components that can help us navigate the issue.
Firstly, the budgetary concerns of Wisconsin, and frankly
almost every other state in our union, cannot be ignored. To do so would be
tantamount to the Skipper of the Titanic ignoring those pesky iceberg warnings.
Make no mistake “We the People”, (whether you are in a union or not, public or
private), catastrophe is looming for our nation if we continue to kick this can
down the road.
Second, we face serious choices regarding state and
municipal services (public sector), be they police, fire and/or education,
although it appears police and fire are exempt from the current proposals in
Wisconsin. My point here is that these are problems with no easy solutions and
will require both sides of the argument to be reasonable and not ignore what is
right in front of their faces.
This will require Conservative thinkers to do their due
diligence in ascertaining what a reasonable and prudent cut, and what will do
more harm the good. Cuts are necessary, and will undoubtedly hurt, but as our
politicians have dug this hole over many generations, it will not be filled in
overnight.
Traditional Liberal thinkers who are predominately union
supporters must accept that the system is broke, and that they are now being
seen as unreasonable in the eyes of the general public. The very same general
public that has traditionally viewed them favorably as staunch and valued
public servants now see the “state worker” or “city worker” as an elitist class
of people who do not care about the “average Joe” any longer, but rather only
about their excruciatingly expensive pension plan and health benefits, a luxury
they themselves do not enjoy.
I might also add that in this time when the “Right” has been
so vilified for so called “uncivil discourse”, the demonstrations at the
Wisconsin Capital Building are nothing short of disgraceful and despicable.
Complete with posters and the dreaded “bull’s eyes” on the Governor’s picture,
as well as slogans comparing Republicans to Hitler, the ever present double
standard exhibited by the hate monger Progressive Left in this country is out
for all to see. Hello, “Main Stream Media”, is anybody home???
In the end, this is simply not something that we can move on
from and revisit at a different time. This is a time for professionals not
protesters, and those who desire to be part of the solution not the problem.
Unfortunately, this will probably remain a tightrope for me.
I reconcile it in my mind, and with whom I interact professionally and
personally, by simply saying I am on the side of my son’s future.
This is what happens when you mess with the unions… All
reality goes out the window. Oh, and Governor Walker is right to tell the POTUS
to worry about his own “budget issues”. Mr. President, I would chime
in here and say that you have your hands full in Washington…

NASCAR
As I reflect on the ten year
anniversary of the death of my racing hero Dale Earnhardt tomorrow, I always
love reading “sports” takes from the likes of Lynn Zinser of the NY Times. As I
make it point to read the Times as infrequently as possible, a friend recently
sent me one where Zinser writes of public relations challenged spectator sports
and how NASCAR in particular has been on a slide over the last ten years. Now
besides the fact that I have little tolerance for bone heads like Ms. Zinser
who don’t have the first clue about the sport I love, its origins or storied
past, when they go on to make blanket analogies with little or no basis in
fact, it clearly shows a bias that is best left at the writers desk.
Fact, and albeit a sad one, the loss of Earnhardt in turn 4
on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500, and the media frenzy that surrounded
it, catapulted NASCAR to its biggest and fastest growing ratings share in all
its history. Suddenly, it was altogether “fashionable” to be a NASCAR Fan, and
folks began to realize how much a part of the American fabric Stock Car Racing
really was. The tragic events of that year instilled a sense of homegrown pride
that manifested itself in the great American Spectator Sports like at no time
in our history. The military salutes, the flyovers and the National Anthem sung
at every event gave us hope and pride. At one point in the middle 2000’s,
NASCAR tickets were coveted in a way that only an NFL, or NBA season ticket
holder would understand, trust me, I know…
Now it can certainly be said that economic times have
affected the sponsorship aspect of the sport and ticket sales as well lately.
How this plays out in the future remains to be seen. With that said, the thrill
of the great “American” race is anything but “de-railed”, and this year’s event
looks to be a memorable one.
So message to Ms. Zinser from one of those “driving in
circles” guys: The only entity out there that looks to be in desperate need of
a major league “public relations boost” is most certainly the NY Times.

Lara Logan
The brutal attack on Lara Logan
of CBS at the height of the “euphoria” over Hosni Mubarak’s departure is an
outrageous and despicable act on its face. However, it causes me even greater
angst and frustration when I hear the “defenders of Islam”, as well as those
who seek to paint the demonstrations in Egypt as nothing but people crying out
for western style Democracy, hurry to separate any religion from the act while
immediately blaming Pro-Mubarak supporters. There’s not a “Pro”- Mubarak supporter
willing to show his/her face within 100 miles of that square right now. So as I
look at the facts so far, my outrage drives me where my detractors hate for me
to go, (the land of the truth).
I think we can all agree that painting with a broad brush at
times like these is often counterproductive, however we simply cannot ignore
the facts on the ground, nor can we arbitrarily cast aside the documented
history of what this religion of peace condones as tenets from their “God”.
Now there is certainly something to be said for the hatred
of media types by those who feared “bad publicity” during recent events in
Egypt, i.e. the FOX and CNN reporters who were attacked, but the facts
surrounding the sexual assault of this woman indicate a violence and hatred meant
to instill subservience and terror in the mind of someone thought to be less
than a whole person by her attackers.
It is and shall remain this authors position, that as long
as any Middle Eastern nation is even slightly tolerant of such a thought process,
that the government of our great country should consider that entity an enemy
of freedom, and at the very least limit ties while simultaneously applying
whatever pressure necessary to bring about generational change in that part of
the world. The United States of America has a moral and human obligation to
promote the simple values systems that recognize the human rights of all
people, and oppose by whatever means necessary, the enemies of mankind where
ever they may be. This is not an imposition of our way of life as some would
have us believe, but rather a simple acceptance of what every human being knows
is just and right deep in their soul.
Ms. Logan, no matter her political or other belief system,
was singled out and assaulted in a way that is unacceptable in any civilized
society, and she will bear the mental and physical scares for the rest of her
days. The brutality and subjugation of
women by these individuals who justify their actions by way of their “religion”,
is a sign of the pivotal and consequential times in which we live, and at the
risk of stepping over religious barriers I have often admitted I do not feel
qualified to breech, I would still have to say that failure to acknowledge the
perverse and vile approach to life by these animals must itself be a crime in
the eyes of any “loving” God you may believe in.
Egypt at present appears a nation of contradictions, but one
thing is for certain, radical Islam as a means to an end is a weed that is
poised to grow there. Without appropriate diplomatic interaction that spells
out clearly and with no doubt what we see as acceptable in order to foster any
future relations with the United States, there should be no relationship, and
the same goes for all Middle Eastern nations, including those who sell us oil.
(Remember people, this is a two way street and we are their biggest purchaser
of petroleum products). It is high time that our leaders begin to adjust their
stance on matters of foreign policy, and exert pressure economic and otherwise,
that will turn the tide in the direction of basic human rights for all mankind
around the globe.
So in solidarity with all victims of any radical belief
system that does not acknowledge basic human rights, I ask that you please do
not ignore the facts in front of your face. There are some wars that simply
must be fought, for us and for the sake of our children.

National debt Obama Budget
When a President submits a
budget, it is always and interesting time. It is made even more interesting
when the branch of government charged with funding that budget is of the
opposite political persuasion. There is the usual talk of “government shut
downs” and the like, but this time seems dramatically different. Americans,
unlike at any time in recent memory, are focused on how Washington spends the
money we send there. Moreover, The United States is carrying more debt in 2011
than it has in its entire history. The economy is chugging like an engine not
firing on all cylinders while our President talks of recovery. At what cost Mr.
President, at what cost? Unemployment remains at historic levels and we are
told that it could be more than 10 years before we return to what is called
“full employment”. Home prices continue to plummet and foreclosures remain a
problem. Inflation is a foregone conclusion that our leaders are running from
as if it were a rattle snake, while gas prices are poised to explode this
summer. We do not even need mention world turmoil as an additional mitigating
factor as it is ever present and obvious.
Now I know that it is tiring at best to rehash the same sad
story over and over, but in light of the fact that the POTUS has sent over a
budget that includes yet even more spending, all Americans screaming foul.
Budget cuts have been called “tough decisions”, “hard
choices” and “a painful process”, all this is true. But let me put it in a
different way so there is no doubt in any of your minds. Politicians on both
side of the isle, (though I would clarify this by saying that Democrats have
out spent Republicans by huge margins, while those same Republicans simply
stood by and watched for fear of voter reprisal), have bankrupted our country.
We simply cannot deny the real numbers. Any American who supports a family and
has to make a budget can see that our current national predicament is
unsustainable, and that we can no longer afford to make good on the many commitments
made by vote chasing and spend happy politicians over generations. The American
system of government and the nations economy were never intended to support
such massive entitlement spending, and the country is dying because of it.
So in the end the serious and critical question is even
bigger than we may have originally thought. It is a question of philosophy and
approach, the Declaration and the Constitution, and what is written in
them. Do we return to a smaller and more
narrowly but specifically defined government with closely guarded safety net
spending, by way of states rights and directed at those who truly are in need
as was the Founders intent, or do we continue down the road to financial ruin
and unsustainable entitlement spending that will forever redefine America to
her people and to the rest of the world? Oh these are definitely “tough
decisions”, or are they???

In yet another example of how our
flawed approach to illegal immigration in this country is costing us dearly in
blood and treasure, the dirt bag you see below (Jose Oswaldo Reyes Alfaro), was
ordered out of the country 10 years ago on immigration violations, and for
having not showed up for a subsequent hearing on the matter before an
immigration magistrate, but hung in there and now has murdered three innocent
people in MANASSAS, Va.
There are no special tactics needed. There are no numbers to
reconcile and/or search for. The proof is right in front of us. Our Federal
government, by way of politically appointed judicial positions has instead
focused on punishing those who stand up for the rule of law. Read the link

Egyptian Egypt Middle Eastern oil
Against all odds, Hosni Mubarak
has decided to step aside and release the future of Egypt to her people. But as
we turn the page on this quasi and questionable ally of the United States, we
must look ahead at the very real possibility that Egypt may not look as we
would hope moving forward. The people remain in Tahrir Square, and though the
euphoria of freedom is fresh in their minds and on their tongues, many are questioning
their future and that of their children.
While I think it is safe to assume there are many
“interests” in that square this day, we can also be thankful for now,
that this does not appear to be another 1979 Iran. However, it is for this very
reason that we must not be complacent in our assessment of the future
government of this major player in the Middle East. It would be naïve at best
to ignore the “Muslim Brotherhood” and any other extremist factions now in play
that are clearly watching closely and looking for any opportunity that might
facilitate greater influence and a significant move in the direction of their
stated goals.
With that said, and to those in that square who truly desire
freedom and peace, free people around the globe are one with you.

Mubarak
Things are beginning to unravel
in Egypt. The protesters are tired, hungry and ready to explode. It appears the
government is prepared to hold out until September, and the military is getting
antsy. Moreover, the massive crowds are now getting mixed messages because the
internet is once again up and running.
Hosni Mubarak has put his critics (the POTUS) on notice that
he will never acquiesce to foreign interference and his tone appeared anything
but peaceful. For Mr. Obama’s part, he remains looking like a deer in the
headlights and fumbling for the right combination of words to impress on us
that he somehow knows what he’s doing.
I must say that at no time since this whole thing got
started have I been as concerned with the possibility of another Tiananmen
Square. The potential for this to go badly is growing faster than anyone is
willing to admit at the WH, and Israel looks to be the big loser when all is
said and done.
Just another straw to add to the camels back.
Mubarak is no Sadat, He may push back.,,, and soon…

Far be it from me to not point
out the stupidity within both political parties these days. It is certainly not
a trend exclusive to either side of the isle. How and why Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY)
got himself into the mess he did with this “Craigslist” thing, speaks to the
unexplainable self-destructive behavior of our elected officials at times. Why
they seem compelled to throw it all away after expending such great energy to
reach the halls of government is just mind boggling. Nonetheless, another
foolish bumpkin embarrasses not only himself, but all those who placed their
trust and confidence in him.

The notion that certain media
outlets and their Socialist sycophants are somehow attempting to portray the
“Muslim Brotherhood” as anything short of Sharia supporters of mass murder, is
frankly not surprising. However, when I hear some on the right trying to
compare what is going on in Egypt to the struggles of 1776, I am outraged. Not
so much at the Progressives who I have come to understand will not be happy
until they are looking up at the inside of a crematorium, but rather at the
Conservative Right, who know full well the perils of ignoring what it is right
under our noses. This type of pandering and placating in an effort signal that
you are somehow “enlightened” or appropriately educated on matters of the
“Middle East Kind” always gets innocent folks killed. And while there are many
factions and factors in play in Egypt this very night, to ignore The Muslim
Brotherhood and portray them as just another player with a chip in the big game
is naïve and reckless.
Let’s take a look at what we know.
The Muslim Brotherhood can count among its members and
supporters, Sheikh Khalid Mohammad, admitted mastermind of the 9/11 attacks,
Mohammad Atta, infamous pilot of Flight 11, Mullah Omar, spiritual leader of
the Taliban and Ramzi Yousef, who carried out the first WTC attack, just to
name a few.
Now let’s read their words.
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi:
“There is no doubt
that Allah commanded us to strike the Kuffar (unbelievers), kill them, and
fight them by all means necessary to achieve the goal. The servants of Allah,
who perform Jihad to elevate the word (laws) of Allah, are permitted to use any
and all means necessary to strike the active unbeliever combatants for the
purpose of killing them, snatch their souls from their body, cleanse the earth
from their abomination, and lift their trial and persecution of the servants of
Allah. The goal must be pursued even if the means to accomplish it affect both
the intended active fighters and unintended passive ones such as women,
children and any other passive category specified by our jurisprudence.”
Thankfully, this individual met the business end of a 2000 pound laser guided
U.S. Bomb in Iraq.

You get my point. There are literally thousands of quotes
like these from those who claim faith in a religion of peace. Was that before
or after Sheikh Khalid Mohammad sawed off the head of Daniel Pearl for the
cameras. Is this the same religion that advocates burying a woman to her neck
and then stoning her head until she is dead, for the “crime” of adultery? Is
this the same religion that justifies the killing of teenage girls for reading
the Bible, or any tome that is not the Koran? Is this the same religion that
condones so called “honor” killings for women who are “thought” to
bring disgrace to the Muslim family and faith? Is this the same religion that
calls “child bombers” a necessary means to an end in the fight to eradicate the
infidels (all non-Believers)? And is this the same “religion of peace” who’s prominent leaders listed within the
ranks of The Muslim Brotherhood as the
most “influential” Muslims today, have referred to Hitler’s “final solution” as
“the right idea”, and have called for the state of Israel to be wiped from the
map?
For the record, anyone who is willing to ignore the facts of
modern Muslim extremism in today’s world, as is evidenced in so clear and
concise a fashion as could only be achieved through the amazing information
super highway, is must certainly be of simple mind or truly evil beyond
comprehension. This is not a joke, and frankly I am fed up and sick to death of
watching and listening to American so called “journalists” defile the memories
of the innocent laid waste to by this vile cast of characters. The threat from
the Islamofascists is clear, in Egypt as well as the entire Middle East. We had
better take care not to ignore this very real and recent history.
I get a lot of flack for posting these types of Pics. But
sometimes it is the only way to get folks to pay attention. This is not the
collateral damage of war. It is not an accident. It is a young boy, victim of a
Homicide bomber, purposely targeted by the perpetrator for maximum affect. He
is lost to the world, and we cannot ignore the reason any longer. For Christ’s
sake, where is the outrage???

the White House. I can only assume that Mrs. Obama partook of the salad and
nothing else.
As a rule, it has always been my policy to refrain from
criticizing Presidential spouses. However, when they go off the reservation and
forget they are “un-elected” citizens, and delve into policy initiatives, they
are then fair game. Michelle Obama’s well publicized campaign against obesity
took a very Leftist turn this week as she is now “campaigning” for smaller
portions at restaurants.
Look, when I go to a restaurant, and unless the sign outside
says “small diet friendly portions served here”, I want the largest
and the tastiest portions I can get for my dollar. What the heck is this woman
talking about??? These people have perfected the art of talking out of both
sides of their mouth (while chewing), as well as the “do as I say, not as I do”
line of thought. Why dont you try serving up some carrots and celery at the
next state dinner and see if that gets you invited back to visiting country…
This is America Mrs. Obama, and while I have absolutely no
problem with you using your “celebrity” and “personal” experiences as a means
to highlight the issue of weight, I and I think most Americans would appreciate
it if you would butt out of our lives.

I’m sorry, but I can’t get past a few of things from
yesterday. Ok, so my Patriots were not in the Super Bowl, and I know you’re all
tired of my whining about that. And hey, I certainly don’t mind looking at
Christina Aguilera singing anything, but damn it you can’t mess that one up… To
her credit, Aguilera quickly put out a press release apologizing and professing
her love for this country, so I’m inclined to cut her some slack on the matter.
And finally, I understand it’s Sunday and we are all kicking back with a frothy
one, chips and some multi-layer artery clogging artichoke dip to watch the big
game, but when I see My President in the WH, I don’t want to feel like he’s
“one of the guys”. He’s not “one of the guys”, he’s the President of The
United States and he should be wearing a friggin tie. O’Reilly was wearing a
tie. Look, I for one would like to feel confident in the notion that the Chief
Executive is prepared to walk into the Oval Office and conduct the business of
our country at any moment, even on Super Sunday. The President looked as if he
was waiting on J.Lo with the Heineken. I mean at one point during the interview
in “The No Spin Zone”, I caught myself asking the television to pass
the bean dip… Not very reassuring in these difficult times. Mr. President, it
is just part of the job, projecting a sense of professionalism and stability to
the nation. I would remind you that it is the very job you spent over a half

All right, moving along, while the POTUS definitely gets the
“ahh shucks”, this job is really hard award for yesterday’s performance, the
interview with Bill was just more of the same. “We were in a recession unlike
anything since the Great Depression”. It’s not my fault. We had to take
“extraordinary measures”. Ok already, we get it! What we don’t get, is why the
hell did you borrow over 3 Trillion dollars to do whatever it was you did?? The
overall unemployment number is going down probably slower that if we did
nothing at all. Many have simply given up looking for work, cashed in their
retirement to pay the mortgage and taken a much lower paying job to feed their
families. Inflation is poised to explode onto the scene. Gas prices will be
over $4.00 per gallon this summer. Our collective debt is over (14) trillion
dollars. The Middle East is imploding and China has its eye on the # 1 spot.
Ahh shucks, really?? Oh, and did I mention the Patriots were not in the Super
Bowl??
In the end, Super Sunday did little to take my mind off of
our worsening predicament, though the fact that a 6th seed team took all their
hard work and used it to bring the VL Trophy back home to Green Bay was
certainly inspirational. Congrats to them.
