Much to my wife’s dismay, I found myself having another conversation with the television yesterday as the POTUS was presenting his warped version of where we are in this debt debate. I just couldn’t help it as I listened to the President play the blame game like a shady teenager. Moreover, he was just plain lying to “We the People”…
Now here in my home state of RI is not unusual that we have to listen to opportunistic and entrenched politicians like Senator Jack Reed continue to blame GW, while simultaneously dismissing the Democrats major role in digging this entitlement grave we now find ourselves trying to crawl out of before the Chinese fill it in. But listening to Mr. Obama basically lie through his teeth concerning what Americans feel about our “dilemma” because he knows it’s “go time” and his back is against the wall, makes me wish that I was a pool reporter at that press conference, albeit in a sea of handpicked apologists for the Administration.
You must admit though, there is something very different this time around. It is not so easy to dismiss this as the “games that politicians play”. Whether you believe he is malicious, has other motivations, or that he is just not up to the job, “We the People” can no longer sit on our hands and allow this President to seal our children’s fate unchallenged. We cannot allow the lies and misrepresentations to stand. We can no longer allow the POTUS to dodge his ownership of part of this debt nightmare, and we must rise above the politics to see the way forward. Educating yourself to the real numbers and understanding where we are and how we got here will certainly help you so long as you can move past your partisanship (even if just for a little while), and let in the truth. The status quo is no longer acceptable and the consequences have never been so clear and dangerous.
As much as I admit to having my own partisan hang-ups, even I (Patriot64) have been consistent in my acknowledgement of the fact that the long road to this place was paved by fools on both sides of the argument. Ideologies aside however, it is truly sad that the President of The United States either does not see it this way or is actually hell bent on wrenching our nation out of its place in history as the worlds “leading” economic power once and for all…
NOTE: The idea that a balanced budget amendment is not necessary in order to hold Washington politicians accountable for the spending of our children’s money, is proof positive that President Obama does not appear to have an appropriate understanding of this matter. My friends this is not partisanship, but rather an acceptance of what is real and right in front of our faces…

Jobs bill

To vote or not to vote… Make up my mind Mr. President…

Does he want a vote on the jobs bill or not? Because Senator Mitch McConnell presented that very bill to Harry Reid for an “up or down vote” yesterday and Reid looked as though he was going to have a nervous breakdown right on the Senate floor. Actually, the bill is un-passable in its current form and the POTUS knows it. This is the very politics the President accuses Republicans of playing all the time, but which does not apply to him because he’s Barack Obama. God help us…
Meanwhile, the unions have joined the students down on Wall Street and have also brought enough food for everyone for the “long hall” as one union fat cat put it. Gee that’s nice isn’t it? All those hurting families across the country and you’re gonna feed a bunch of lazy mixed up college students and union thugs who should be at work. The hypocrisy and elitism of this bunch is just so obvious it’s quite ridiculous to deny it.
What is interesting however is that the “real message” is finally beginning to show through the masquerade of proclaimed “patriotism” put on by this bunch for so long. We can now pick out the phraseology much more easily than before, and reading between the lines in many cases is no longer necessary. “Abolish Capitalism, down with Corporate America, take over the banks, Social Justice for all”, and these are just Democratic politicians talking.
“This will be a battle for the soul of America”… Do you remember that post from a couple of years back?

Bob Beckel, President Barack Obama, The Five

The Five…

The fact that Bob Beckel is an ignorant jackass is not news. But as I have been saying lately, the Libs have the gloves off as well as the “masks”, and folks like Bob are “coming into their own” about letting you know it. When asked on “The Five” if he believed in class warfare, the portly pundit glowingly embraced the concept, and even “chided” his cohosts for their opposite viewpoints…
So as we move closer to the “red meat” segment of this election cycle, it is ever clearer what Democrats mean to use as a means to distract “We the People” from one simple fact. The POTUS, having wrestled complete control of all houses of government in 2008, could manage only to spend more of our money than all of his predecessors combined, while simultaneously driving a stake through the heart of the American dream. Moreover, he has divided instead of united and blamed instead of lead in every situation he has faced as President. His “college try” has proved near fatal for our nation leaving us wondering about our future in a way that I personally could never have imagined just a few short years ago. The President of the United States has put social ideology out in front of decency and common sense, and the argument continues to spiral downward toward illegitimacy for America and what it once represented to the world. Consequently, (and I hope Beckel is paying attention), my message tonight to President Obama is this:
Stop quoting President Reagan out of context Sir. With all due respect, that man had a “bi-partisan” love of this nation and “all” of her citizens that frankly, you seem to have absolutely no concept of whatsoever.

Wall Street, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, American Spring

Professor Ahmadinejad???

With the passing of Steve Jobs I thought it was interesting to read two competing headlines today. One related the true story of how Jobs and apple profited without the help of the federal government, and the other about how Iran is framing the “Wall Street protests” as an “American Spring”. From my perspective, it has always been ironic to note the fascination with Jobs and his creations, and how the Left in this country so closely identifies with someone who has exploited Capitalism to its fullest. (Let me be clear about the fact that I feel Steve Jobs was a brilliant visionary whose drive and “touchy feely” approach to the tech world served him well in our free market economy, as well it should have based on his humble beginnings and hard work). However, my point is that you would not hear and unkind word spoken of him by a single soul currently participating in the so called “Wall Street Protests”, which seem so bent on the destruction of everything related to the successes of Jobs and those like him.
Now the other headline about how Iran sees those same protests here in the United States as an “American Spring”. It’s amusing (not) to see how easily the antics of the Progressive movement in America are so closely aligned with the thought process of our enemies, and how quickly those enemies pick up on this fact and use it for their own propaganda purposes. It just makes me feel all the more confident and comfortable in my political skin. (Here is the nation which seeks to align itself with the Progressives in the U.S.) -

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/10/10/iranian-actress-reportedly-sentenced-to-one-year-in-jail-0-lashes-1487022689/

When we see this stuff eventually make it to the headlines, it does add clarity to the double standard and hypocrisy of the Liberals today. Their elitist vision for our country most definitely includes a place only for them. Moreover, the lack of historical insight and real world knowledge regarding our economic and social systems by young people in our nation today, is striking as we wonder about the “diverse” education they are receiving at the university level, and it surely forebodes difficult and turbulent times ahead for America.

War in Afghanistan

As we reflect on the 10 year marking of the beginning of hostilities in Afghanistan, I happened upon an interview with the parents of Sergeant First Class, Nathan Chapman on the FOX News Channel. Chapman was the first Soldier killed in action in Afghanistan. He was shot while directing troop movements from the back of a military vehicle and later died. A CIA operative was also injured in the ambush. Listening to Mr. & Mrs. Chapman’s account of that time and how vividly it was still in their memory was difficult. And then I thought of all the protests going on today and how part of the “rallying cry” always seems to be opposition to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Looking back on that time, and having just struggled with writing about 9/11 ten years later, I am struck by the dismissive and often disrespectful manner in which some on the Left speak of our country’s war on terror, and this certainly extends to certain political figures as well. Accordingly, I do not deny there must always be debate in matters of state. This is the process which sets us apart from the rest and is a necessary and vital component of any Republic such as ours. With that said, I am always curious to know if some folks understand that men and women in America go in harm’s way on our behalf every day, with some being injured and/or killed as a result, in order to actually guarantee that very process. Now there are those who would tell us this is just another reason not to go to war, however we who live in the real world know better. You see, understanding America and her role in this world is not for the faint of heart. And while we should debate the prosecution of any war we are involved in, the notion that American ideals will not have to be defended from generation to generation, and that we must somehow look the other way when our people are murdered indiscriminately, is simply hogwash or worse yet, political idealism run amok. Just ask our current President about the reality of pressing a war where we must be right all of the time but our enemies just once.
I heard this reality in so many words from the Chapman’s when they were asked if they felt we had accomplished our mission in Afghanistan. The response was simple in that they felt we had beat back the threat but that there was still work to do so Afghanistan would not be used as a staging area for terrorists in the future. So much loss, yet so much clarity. Truly these people are patriots of the highest order and deserving of, at the very least, our respect.
So as I listened and looked on the photo of a father saluting his sons casket as it was removed from a transport plane with full military honors, I wondered if some in our nation would ever fully understand the concept of sacrifice for something greater than self or for the greater good of humanity. I wondered if our youth would ever truly grasp the idea that freedom must at times be defended, and that some of their countryman might volunteer and then die carrying freedoms banner. Would they ever appreciate the pain associated with the picture above? In the end, if they do not, and if many of our politicians and educators continue to fail them in this regard, in my humble opinion, everything else is an exercise in futility. America will falter…

Wall Street, Election 2012, President Barack Obama

This President has taken more campaign money from corporate entities on Wall Street than any in the last 20 years…

The President today, asked folks in one of his “campaign” audiences to remind the Congress who they work for. My question is, does Mr. Obama know who he works for?
We are waiting tonight, for a procedural vote on the Presidents “Jobs” bill. It seems a foregone conclusion that the measure will gone down without the 60 votes necessary to move it to full consideration. I am not watching the vote as much as I am the reaction of “We the People”, and whether or not we will be roped into the blame game once again. It should come as no surprise that the “main stream” press is framing the debate, with Republicans cast as the villains unwilling to join the President while he saves America once “again”. I don’t know about you, but I have about had it with being “saved” by this POTUS. As a matter of fact, I’d much prefer if he’d just mug me, take my wallet and car keys and be done with it.
Fact: If any have taken the time to read this “bill”, they would understand with clarity that much of it is paid for with “imaginary” savings, and the rest by a convenient 5%“millionaire surtax”.
At this point I am frankly stunned that my premonition about how this Presidents time in office would go seems to be playing out exactly as I imagined. In the absence of any credible success after implementing the most aggressive government spending campaign in American history, the President of the United States has now moved to the second half of his assault on our country by engaging in an all-out campaign of division and class warfare the likes of which we have not seen in a generation. His tone and demeanor of late suggest an all or nothing approach to re-making the country in the image of European collectivism. Regrettably, he has emboldened the Socialist element among us and they are game for a fight.
As a side note: Harry Belafonte and Cornel West have come out and ridiculed Herman Cain recently. Now I could on and on about how these individuals and those like them require a downtrodden black populous in order to thrive, however I would simply recommend Mr. Cain wear their disdain for him as a badge of honor. I suspect he will do just that. Oh, and I am also adding a photo of a dedicated and purpose driven member of the “Wall Street protest movement”. This is truly a classy bunch…

Is this freedom of speech or simply disingenuous and disrespectful scum??? Before you answer, read the previous post…

You know we have heard time and again President Truman’s old adage, “The buck stops here”. And we have seen many a cabinet member go the way of the door under far less internal scrutiny than Attorney General Holder at the moment. So why then hasn’t this arrogant partisan departed as of yet? Why, when it is clear that “Fast and Furious” was bandied about the upper offices of the DOJ for some time before Mr. Holder claims he first heard of it, has he not been fired, as he is ultimately responsible for the actions of his subordinates, is he not? Why, when we know that a weapon sold through the “Fast and Furious” program was used to kill a decorated war veteran and federal border agent, has this AG not been brought before a grand jury himself. Well, I’ll tell you why. Because he is firmly entrenched within the “Obama Circle” of ideologues and proceeds with a certain “immunity” if you will, when it comes to obeying the same laws he is sworn to enforce. This type of hypocrisy has come to symbolize the “transparent” Obama Administration and many of their fundamentally flawed arguments.
In the humble opinion of this author, it is high time Attorney General Eric Holder swallow hard and admit he allowed his politics to cloud his Constitutional judgment. And as a result it appears the chances are good more weapons will turn up at crime scenes all over Mexico and even the Southern U.S. Unfortunately, few in Washington ever accept responsibility but rather deflect and evade. It will be interesting to see however, whether or not President Obama’s faith in Holder is “unshakable” during so critical an election cycle.

illegal immigration, Federal Government, no habla ingles

We read today that “out” federal government has now ordered that 248 counties and other jurisdictional locations across the country provide “bilingual” ballots to accommodate Spanish speaking and other minorities during the 2012 elections. As I attempt to reason this away, it is clear that placating by certain political groups (liberals) is the trigger. Truth be told, this number is actually down a bit from last election cycle. Regardless, it is inconceivable that we would make this type of concession in America. Even more inconceivable is that we would allow some politicians to drive these initiatives which ultimately contribute to the cultural decay of our nation.
Once again I come back to the argument that we should be clinging to the things which bind all of us and not those which separate us. That common bond of cultural diversity held together by one “national heritage” and language, one set of values and a desire to be citizen of the greatest nation on earth. What we are doing instead, is preaching the differences between us and singing the praises of tolerance when in fact every Progressive policy we allow drives still more wedges and prejudices between us.
I can tell you with all honesty, there has not been a time in my life where I have felt so conflicted about the divisions in my society than I do today. From the class warfare argument, shoved down our throats by this President and his comrades, and which has been championed by a complicit and sycophant “main stream” press, to the complete and total disregard for our immigration laws, and the “re-writing” our entire society for those who choose to remain separate and apart, it is now almost impossible to see any commonality. Instead, “We the People” end up feeling many illegals have no intention but to force America to change rather than assimilate as did those before them.
This brings me back to my rehashing of Rush’s famous quote, “elections have consequences”, and this one will be no different. How it is affected by these seemingly subtle but dangerous allowances made on behalf of those who chose to speak a language other than English in America, remains to be seen. But I would submit that it is just another nail in our national coffin.

This guy is losin’ it…

As we ponder the real numbers which tell us fully 47% of Americans pay no income tax at all while 10% of wage earners pay 70% of income tax revenue, and we also consider how hard the Obama Administration and folks like Warren Buffett and George Soros are trying to create economic class warfare and anarchy in the U.S., I believe we may have found a partial solution to the “problem”.
Basic mathematics indicate that if we were to confiscate the entire net worth of the “filthy rich” in the United States, it would not even scratch the surface of the massive mountain of entitlement debt laid at our feet by the political machine in Washington over the generations. Despite this indisputable equation, Republicans have arrived at a possible compromise to the “Buffett rule” which suggest the rich should pay more taxes. (It seems every time we turn the channel, there’s another gilt ridden entertainment type or senile old fool businessman looking to get right with God by suggesting he/she should somehow now “pay their fair share”). The answer: Those who wish to pay more may certainly do so… Ironically, when we also consider that Warren Buffett’s company (Berkshire Hathaway) is actually tax delinquent at this time one has to ask, are these people for real or is this just a tasteless joke?
Truth be told, this type of hyperbole is nothing more than political gamesmanship which folks like Buffett and George Clooney are drawn to like moths to a flame. Ascension to the top is complete, but oddly, recognition, understanding and/or acceptance of the environment necessary to achieve that success is cast aside and replaced with a sense of political correctness which will now allow these people to walk in the same sociopolitical circles they may have been shunned from on the way up. It’s a crossing of the lines so to speak, one life to another, and back again. The only problem is “We the People” are all left to weather the results of this strange and unholy collaboration between individuals we will never, and probably care never to ever meet. You see this is more about vindication of a life unsure, than a future for our children or a free country appropriately and unselfishly preserved for posterity. Additionally, one of the awful bi-products of this type of “relationship” is that it comes with “cling-ons”, those being folks like George Soros who are dyed-in-the-wool Socialist Progressives hell bent on changing America into a European style nation at the very least.
So why the excruciatingly detailed analysis of the day? Simple really.
Yes, we must look closely at comprehensive change to our tax code and real stimulus for our economic engine, all this is true. However, this is not a reason to abandon the cause of a free market economy in a representative Republic. It is also never a reason to use social and class warfare as a means to that end. History tells us time and again that the result of such misguided endeavors ultimately brings government “structured” and/or “tiered” societal levels and human suffering of varying degrees.
So as we navigate this economic strife, aggravated by political posturing and the whims of those whose money seems to have facilitated a misplaced conscience, let me be the first to thank Mr. Buffett and any other wealthy soul who is compelled to “contribute” to our national betterment, though any good businessman would tell you, that is one bottomless pit…

Harry Reid, President Barack Obama, Stimulus II

Hang on, I’m spending all of your grandkids money…

The fact that President Obama is playing to the “Wall Street” protesters is predictable in one sense and ridiculous in another. In doing so, Mr. Obama clearly rally’s his base but loses significant credibility with independents, who understand he has taken more money from “Wall Street” than any President in the last 20 years. Moreover, the POTUS can ill afford to lose that support from independents as it is the key to his re-election. So as our Chief Executive makes his way down South, bashing corporate America along the way, protesters continue to pollute parks across the country while defecating on our flag and singing songs not of change and empowerment, but of menacing hatred laced with anti-American acrimony of the most vile sort.
Meanwhile our old friend (WH) Harry Reid is back in Washington doing what he does best, throwing “bad money after bad” again and again with his own version of the Obama “Jobs” bill. When I think of this man’s re-election in 2010, I am reminded of how much good political types do themselves when they pander to the entitlement cause. And when I look into the eyes of that old coot, I see the end of this representative republic as we know it. Reid and the Democrats approach continues to be that of gas and go when the car’s head gasket is clearly toast, blowing smoke like Fred Sanford’s old pick-up truck, thus the American economy will falter beyond repair if we don’t fix the damn engine first.
Simply put, infrastructure spending when the mechanism of delivery for those monies, both at the state and federal level is badly broken is an exercise in futility and horrible waste. Healthcare spending without an appropriate and thorough assessment of the structure and application at all levels, city, state and federal, is tantamount to throwing our hard earned tax dollars into a furnace, as we are seeing today with pullback in the areas of long term care for lack of funding. And low interest loans with front end tax incentives to small businesses who hire new workers, mean nothing when you intend to back door the same companies by labeling them thieves and bandits and taxing them right out of business, enter the class warfare strategy to make way for “re-distribution”.
I have never heard an Administration so skillfully talk out of both sides of their crooked mouths as this bunch.

Dottie May…

Ever the pessimist when it comes to the “human element” as I like to call it, I remain eager to have my blog be a vehicle for true and decent humanity whenever and wherever I may find it. I read today of a 41 year old woman Stacy Crimm, who refused cancer treatment that may have saved her own life but grievously harmed her unborn daughter. In an act fitting of an angel, Crimm set aside her own future for the sake of a child she would only hold once before she died just 23 days later. My God, the contrasts of this life leave me breathless at times.
Treatment for invasive head and neck cancer often requires radical chemotherapy which ultimately leaves a pregnant patient with only difficult choices. Terminate the pregnancy and receive treatment, or continue the pregnancy and pray that treatment will not come too late. In the end it is an incredibly personal decision that reveals the true character and purpose of a particular soul on Gods earth. I pray this day that little Dottie May, who was just over two pounds when taken by cesarean section and now living with Crimm’s brother and his family, will continue to thrive and grow to know the decency and love a mother who truly is an angel.
Godspeed Stacy, and thank you. Your selflessness and sacrifice give me hope…

Herman Cain, Brendan Doherty, Presidential Election 2012
1

I have a friend who’s running for Congress in District 1, Rhode Island. He and I have talked many times about what would make a difference in Washington during these troubling times. Brendan Doherty is a retired State Police Colonel and no stranger to the public eye. That said, he is anything but a politician. I say this because I have told him it’s his strongest attribute considering the current political climate. I explained that, “We the People” have had our fill of career politicians and that we are paying attention as never before. I also mentioned that he should not run from his political “inexperience” but rather embrace it and be quick to tell voters that he is definitely not a politician, adding he should remind them that if “experience” all these years has led us to this critical precipice, then a little less “experience” may in fact be what is needed to bring us away from the edge.
So if there are those pundits and political hacks this evening who are having a hard time digesting the rise of Herman Cain in recent polling, I would remind “them” that people are indeed paying much closer attention this time around. They are focused on our national debt and what that means for their children. They are focused on America not as a country on the rise but rather one in decline, and they are looking for plain speak with honest and forthright debate.
I am happy to report that many Americans finally seem to be putting substance and “real world” experience ahead of promises by class warfare politicians and appointed talking heads, who wouldn’t understand how to make a payroll any better than I understand “Angry Birds”.
Herman Cain and Brendan Doherty represent the change we truly need today. Not fluffy ideological rhetoric with little chance of affecting our lives in any meaningful way. No, they bring a hand’s on, real world approach and values carved out of a life similar to yours and mine, not something out of an institutional think tank full of overeducated, wet behind the ears and elitist pinheads who mean to tell us what’s good for us…
My answer to the Herman Cain candidacy is simple; he is the real deal …

Wall Street protests

Please listen carefully and take note of the tone regarding this video. This is not the fringe of the “Wall Street” protest movement but rather the meat of it. If you are not in denial, it should be evident that President Obama and many Democrats have stoked the flames of the Progressive Left Wing movement in this country, with their subtle and not so subtle endorsements, a movement which clearly has nothing to do with economic frustration and everything to do with anti-American rhetoric and worse. Even more frightening is that we are now hearing an anti-sematic tone bubbling to the surface, which I wrote about some 3 weeks ago and was strongly chastised for by way of some nasty email.
Regrettably but as predicted, the so called “Wall Street protests” have been hijacked and become a vehicle for the far left lunatics in this country. These vitriolic ambassadors of chaos and hatred are becoming more and more visible within the protests themselves. Their nonsensical ranting has no recognizable meaning. It’s not supposed to. It’s only one face of the two headed monster of Socialism. Moreover, what most unsuspecting Americans do not realize is that in order for belief systems like Socialism or Communism to take root, there must be a villain or someone to blame for the current economic or otherwise climate. This justifies the need for centralized control of the “even playing field”. Personal inadequacies and failures are vindicated and/or washed away by the angry and sometimes violent blame game of twisted and misguided social upheaval. The other face of the monster is one of “political” vindication, someone in a position of power and authority to lend legitimacy to an otherwise illegitimate “movement”. Well, who would that be??
I must tell all of you, I do not like where this thing is going. While the numbers are much lower than the “main stream” press is reporting as far as local impact, the message is fast becoming one of division and anti-Americanism nationally, trumpeted by the likes of George sorso and company. Once again history is staring us right in the face, and while I may be premature in my thinking on this, “We the People” will not be so easily manipulated as was pre-war Germany.
For those who may feel this is over the top, go back and watch the video again, listen carefully to the younger “protesters”, then tell me if this is or represents a truly democratic exercise or demonstration of freedom for all. Or does it seem to suggest the demonization of a particular group or ideology in favor of another with no exceptions? These things begin and end in some fashion but do not simply appear out of nowhere. Understand history, at least to the degree that it will affect the country your children will live in and how they see humanity, (before it’s too late).

My analysis of the current “humanity climate” in America has many inputs. However, not only do I watch and look for trends here in the U.S. but around the globe as well, with a particular emphasis on those nations which may be less than friendly to this country. This is important because as we look at world history we see that behavior trending often paints a vivid picture of what societies come to see as acceptable. With time and erosion of the most basic tenets of humanity, it is easy to see how something as awful as the persecution and mistreatment of women, and even all out genocide can be disguised to the eyes of a complacent and morally challenged populous. Consequently, it can take generations of war, destruction and the fall of an entire empire to bring about the slow re-institution of a simple respect for human life. I give you ancient Rome as an example.
Sadly, we do not have to go back in time to find examples of grievous and callous disregard for human life. So in sharp contrast to the sad but heartwarming story of Stacie Crimm and her daughter Dottie May, I give you Wang Yue of Beijing China. In some utterly gruesome street surveillance footage, the 2 year old is seen walking in a market square when she is suddenly struck by what looks like a delivery van. Now this may very well have been a tragic accident, but the driver only briefly stops before continuing on striking the child again with the rear wheels before leaving the scene. To make matters worse, a second vehicle strikes the child yet again and then leaves the scene as well. Amazingly, passers-by ignore the dying child for what seems like eternity until a sanitation worker finally scoops her bloody body from the street. Regrettably, the little girl died from her injuries just a week later in a Beijing hospital.
My point in all of this is that Chinese society today is a reflection of declining morality in that Communist country and a disturbing trend not to be ignored in the world today. Complacency takes many forms in our lives. But when we become complacent as human beings, separate and apart from our national heritage, turning a blind eye to the most basic of human reactionary responses, and can then somehow justify “that response” with a created and “collective” reconciliation or explanation, bad things are certainly ahead for all people.
For what it’s worth, I knew I would not have to wait long after writing about the Baby Dottie May, to read a story like this one. Big picture people, big picture…

What would Mr. Vanderbilt say???

In the name of diversity, Vanderbilt University has instituted a policy which is the height of politically correct nonsense. From a school founded and steeped in the traditions of the Methodists comes an initiative which states “registered” religious organizations on campus may not discriminate against those of different faith (or no faith) who may wish to lead them. So in essence, an atheist must be allowed to lead a Christian organization. Or maybe a Muslim could lead and atheist organization, or how about a Jew leading an evangelical organization? Is this a joke or have the folks at Vanderbilt lost their Liberal minds? Will someone please show me the diversity in this?
If I might offer my thoughts on the real motivation behind this approach, I would tell you that Progressives in positions of power within the ranks of the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in our country, religiously rooted or otherwise, are becoming much more comfortable in their own skin of late, as well as far less apprehensive about espousing their views in the current political climate. Moreover, they are now seizing every opportunity to push their one world agenda, along with collectivism and the “everyone’s the same” platform, cloaked under the false pretense of “inclusiveness”, thus stripping away any of the individuality they claim to champion.
At the end of the day, if everyone is “the same”, where in “Gods” name will we find this wonderful and “diverse” utopia the Left so enthusiastically professes?

Ah, you American not so bright… http://youtu.be/OTSQozWP-rM
It has to be the biggest WTF out there right now. Forgive my propensity to navigate to profanity, even if just an implication or abbreviation of same, but this has to frazzle even the most nonpolitical folks out there. As a nation, we are borrowing (1 Trillion dollars + interest), from the “Peoples” Republic of China in order to fund our ridiculous and out of control deficit spending, then turning around and giving it back to them in the form of foreign aid. I’m choking on my coffee this morning trying to research this and find any logical explanation. Seriously, with all the questions about whether we should even be dealing with a Communist nation clearly on the fringe when it comes to human freedom from tyrannical government, and which holds so much of our national debt, one would think this is a no brainer…
Now the reality in 2011 is that we are, and in fact have been, economically tied to China for some time. But for goodness sake, is this not the ultimate slap in the face to the American taxpayer while we are negotiating such devastating fiscal times. With this type of irony hanging out there, how can Congress or this President for that matter, step in front of the camera and look “We the People” in the eye with any degree of sincerity at all, and claim to be working in our best interest?
This is what I am talking about when I say that our government has miles to go before it can even begin to attack the real problems confronting the country at the present time. Not until we have an accounting of all that is wrong with the way we have done business to date and correct that malfeasance, can we legitimately address that which ails us today. To do less is simply a waste of precious time.

Orlando Jones, Sarah Palin

Apparently Orlando Jones has missed the point, and now I will have to “school him” because the “main stream” press has elected to take a pass via the double standard highway. Jones recently tweeted that if “Liberals want respect, they should all stop listening to Aretha and kill Sarah Palin”. Now I’m going to move right past that double standard thing as decent folks will take this for what it’s worth coming from this piece of work. The problem I have is that he could not leave well enough alone after being lambasted on the 140 characters or less social network. Having failed to justify his remarks, he moved to Facebook and wrote an “oh always me” bit asserting his right to free speech and crying “Its just me being me”… Frankly, I would like to flip this clown the proverbial one finger salute and move on, but it’s not that simple anymore.
The entertainment elite in this country are having a hard time accepting the fact that they indeed bear a greater responsibility in light of their celebrity, to qualify their remarks and/or public opinions as some may be influenced by their exposure to them. Moreover, if it can be shown or proven that they have acted callously in exercising those rights, and in so doing endangered someone’s life or worse, that dumb ass could very well go to jail.
Now look, I’m not going to get into a battle of Constitutional wits with this clearly unarmed individual, but it is high time these folks thank God for the blessings of liberty in a country which allows them to say what they do. They should also however, not assume their creative license automatically absolves them of scrutiny, nor does it mean “We the People” cannot exercise (our) free speech and call them irresponsible idiots.

Apparently we can sum up the Administrations achievements in foreign policy in what we now see on the ground. Ok, Syria has been consistently shooting its own people in the streets. Both Libya and Egypt now say Sharia Law will be the basis for their new “governments”. We are leaving Iraq to align itself with Iran, which they will do. Pakistan is poised to go radical and they have nukes. Russia is selling weapons to anyone who will buy them, and China is loaning money to, and taking money from the U.S., investing in the European Union, and building aircraft carriers to scare the crap out of Taiwan. I’m sorry, did someone say this President had become a “foreign policy President”?
What he has become is a President looking for a message and who no longer has one. While I will be forthright in my praise of his “allowing” the military to use their proven technology and capability to bring Osama and a number of his buddies down to room temp, I would remind folks that this is Presidential decision making 101, and pretty much a no brainer.
I think “We the People” should be very cautious before jumping to the conclusion that Barack Obama has suddenly found his calling as “Commander in Chief”. One only need spend some time on YouTube and revisit his campaign and Senate days to know differently.
I am just befuddled at how “hope and change” has now become “shock and distraction”.

Major Sullivan Ballou

History does give us incredible insight. If some would only stop and read of the past they would know our country better in so many ways. All too often we hear the likes of Ex-Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney bashing our country and spouting our faults both at home and abroad, and it makes me wonder whether these folks have any idea of the price which has been paid in blood for their freedom. Of all that I write about, it is this question which haunts me more than any other.
By now some of you may have read this peace, but it begs re-printing. Major Sullivan Ballou was more than a Union Soldier. He was a lawyer, a husband and a father. Moreover, it is this letter he wrote to his beloved wife which in many ways tells the story of our great nation and what sets it apart from the rest of the world. It tells of sacrifice for something bigger than oneself. It tells of the necessity to preserve it at all cost, for our posterity and forever. And it reminds us today that we ignore our storied history at our own peril… Please read on and reflect on our direction…
My very dear Sarah:
The indications are very strong that we shall move in a few days — perhaps tomorrow. Lest I should not be able to write you again, I feel impelled to write lines that may fall under your eye when I shall be no more.
Our movement may be one of a few days duration and full of pleasure — and it may be one of severe conflict and death to me. Not my will, but thine O God, be done.
If it is necessary that I should fall on the battlefield for my country, I am ready. I have no misgivings about, or lack of confidence in, the cause in which I am engaged, and my courage does not halt or falter.
I know how strongly American Civilization now leans upon the triumph of the Government, and how great a debt we owe to those who went before us through the blood and suffering of the Revolution. And I am willing — perfectly willing — to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this Government, and to pay that debt.
But, my dear wife, when I know that with my own joys I lay down nearly all of yours, and replace them in this life with cares and sorrows — when, after having eaten for long years the bitter fruit of orphanage myself, I must offer it as their only sustenance to my dear little children — is it weak or dishonorable, while the banner of my purpose floats calmly and proudly in the breeze, that my unbounded love for you, my darling wife and children, should struggle in fierce, though useless, contest with my love of country?
I cannot describe to you my feelings on this calm summer night, when two thousand men are sleeping around me, many of them enjoying the last, perhaps, before that of death — and I, suspicious that Death is creeping behind me with his fatal dart, am communing with God, my country, and thee.
I have sought most closely and diligently, and often in my breast, for a wrong motive in thus hazarding the happiness of those I loved and I could not find one. A pure love of my country and of the principles I have often advocated before the people and “the name of honor that I love more than I fear death” have called upon me, and I have obeyed.
Sarah, my love for you is deathless, it seems to bind me to you with mighty cables that nothing but Omnipotence could break; and yet my love of Country comes over me like a strong wind and bears me irresistibly on with all these chains to the battlefield.
The memories of the blissful moments I have spent with you come creeping over me, and I feel most gratified to God and to you that I have enjoyed them so long. And hard it is for me to give them up and burn to ashes the hopes of future years, when God willing, we might still have lived and loved together, and seen our sons grow up to honorable manhood around us.
I have, I know, but few and small claims upon Divine Providence, but something whispers to me — perhaps it is the wafted prayer of my little Edgar — that I shall return to my loved ones unharmed. If I do not, my dear Sarah, never forget how much I love you, and when my last breath escapes me on the battlefield, it will whisper your name.
Forgive my many faults, and the many pains I have caused you. How thoughtless and foolish I have oftentimes been!
How gladly would I wash out with my tears every little spot upon your happiness, and struggle with all the misfortune of this world, to shield you and my children from harm. But I cannot. I must watch you from the spirit land and hover near you, while you buffet the storms with your precious little freight, and wait with sad patience till we meet to part no more.
But, O Sarah! If the dead can come back to this earth and flit unseen around those they loved, I shall always be near you; in the garish day and in the darkest night — amidst your happiest scenes and gloomiest hours — always, always; and if there be a soft breeze upon your cheek, it shall be my breath; or the cool air fans your throbbing temple, it shall be my spirit passing by.
Sarah, do not mourn me dead; think I am gone and wait for thee, for we shall meet again.
As for my little boys, they will grow as I have done, and never know a father’s love and care. Little Willie is too young to remember me long, and my blue-eyed Edgar will keep my frolics with him among the dimmest memories of his childhood.
Sarah, I have unlimited confidence in your maternal care and your development of their characters.
Tell my two mothers his and hers I call God’s blessing upon them.
O Sarah, I wait for you there! Come to me, and lead thither my children.

Neil Cavuto made some very good points today. Firstly, the only person who can put us in default is the President, if he elects not to pay our bond holders. (And he knows this, thus the real reason for the crisis. He might actually have to govern.) And secondly, we are not in danger of a credit downgrade because Washington is screaming about default, but rather because our creditors can see clearly that we are grievously and maybe even hopelessly in debt, and they are questioning whether or not we will be able to pay what we owe. (Thus the reason for the crashing dollar today.)

Can we fit in here?? I’m thinkin’ somewhere near Sweden…

A recent poll shows 62% of Americans favor a “balanced approach” to solving America’s debt crisis, with a mix of spending cuts and “revenue enhancements”. Appropriately, most of those same Americans will be shocked to learn that phrase probably means they won’t get a tax refund next year, and for many years after, if ever again. They may also be stunned to learn they may not be able to deduct their mortgage interest this income tax cycle or in the future. And I’m quite sure they will be absolutely beside themselves when they learn they will be out of a job because their small business employer for whom they have worked for the last 10 years is closing his doors because the President of the United States thinks he’s a billionaire and has taxed him out of business.
Fact: 51% of working Americans have no income tax liability. This means they pay nothing into the system. Fact: In 1960 the nation’s debt to GDP ratio was 27%. Today it is 37% and expected to be over 50% in just 20 years. (This is not an inflationary statistic, but rather a mathematical measure of what we take in verses what we pay out).
Look people this is a simple matter of reality and our willingness to accept it absent the political BS coming out of Washington these days. We have arrived at a place and time where as a nation we must now differentiate between a retired senior citizen who has paid into a system all their lives and was promised a benefit, and a 40 something who should be thinking of his/her own retirement future and not relying on the government for all of it. We must differentiate between an abused single mom who needs food, shelter, protection and help to find her way forward, and a baby maker and her drug addict boyfriend gaming the system for the easy check(s) it provides. (Sorry for the reference, but it is reality!) We must differentiate between the medical services we provide for our own citizens and the billions spent on illegal aliens in this country every year. And we must differentiate between a true “public servant” who expects a fairs day’s wage for a fair day’s work, and an opportunist guided by the Leftist promise of a union utopia where they enjoy pay and benefits private sector folks can only dream of. This is not about the present folks, but rather what the future will look like when we have spent the last entitlement dollar borrowed from a Communist country, and when we are left holding the bag of IOU’s our elected “leaders” have filled for our children’s children.
I am saddened tonight to think how many Americans do not have a chip in the game, and as a result feel no obligation to act. I guess if you pay nothing in, “revenue enhancement” is a non-issue. Has it come to this? Are we heading for a European style government? Do these polls indicate this President and his Socialist pals have finally pushed our nation over to the other side? I can only soldier on…

Obama, Boehner

I have written a lot about this Presidents motives and approach to the office. Last evening we saw that approach full on and in glaring context. He is not a “uniter” but rather a divider, and the fostering of a class warfare model will ultimately be the hallmark of his Presidency. He is an inexperienced university ideologue who is unabashed in his application of all blame on everyone but himself. The President is so focused on his own political future and crumbling legacy that he basically steamrolled over the fact that his “plan” doesn’t even resemble that of (WH) Harry Reid’s in the Senate. Aren’t they supposed to be on the same team?
The POTUS is curiously nostalgic as well in the sense that he loves to go back in time and say things like, “well every other President raised the debt ceiling”. This is all well and good, and factually correct I would add, though it was also part of the problem. The “more complete truth” however, is that the ratio of debt to GDP, current and projected, is unprecedented. At no time in our history has the question of America’s debt and her ability to pay it been as big a crisis around the globe and in international markets. For God’s sake Mr. President, every economist who is not on your staff is saying this right now!
President Obama made a great effort to define the differences between who he feels are the “Haves and the Have Not’s” last night. But he neglected to be specific, (as he always seems to do) about whom he sees as rich. Once again the truth is something he prefers you don’t hear. The President most certainly has his sights on those making $250,000.00 per year in his “plan”. He must because simply targeting Bill Gates and company won’t get it done and he knows it. Folks, I am here to report to you, these are not millionaires and billionaires. They are the small business owners and the true backbone of our economy. If you continue to burden them unnecessarily and misrepresent their status, they will cease to exist and unemployment will go even higher. And I won’t even go into the logistics of actually taxing the “rich” (loop holes and all) as I have explained this pointless numbers game time and again. Suffice it to say, that it sure sounds good but makes absolutely no sense whatsoever unless you live in France or Greece.
Anyway, it was clear last night that the President has drawn his line in the sand, and it sounded as if Boehner drew his as well. No matter how we got here the fact remains that we cannot continue in a business as usual fashion. We simply cannot accept the Presidents “I’m the only adult in the room” attitude when the man continues to misrepresent this crises in all its glaring reality to “We the People”. So “Let abundantly clear”:
There would not be a default after the August deadline! Seniors would get their checks, the military would get paid, and the “interest” on our national debt would be paid on time as well. (Tax cheat Geithner knows this full well.) What President Obama actually wants is to able to bring about all the “change” he campaigned on, but later realized he could not afford. He knows this approach is necessary for his re-election so all bets are off. Unfortunately, there is incredible waste and fraud rampant in our federal government today and it must be cut. Moreover, our elected leaders have been writing bad checks against our good name. We are a family in crises and we cannot afford a brand new car or a swimming pool right now. We must tighten our belts and accept the fact that we have a spending problem in Washington, brought on by generations of politicians we allowed to slaughter our Constitution, and it must now be addressed. Giving this President another enormous credit card with our great grandchildren’s future as collateral is just unacceptable on every level.

Apparently, convicted felons and even a man with a “protection” order issued against him were allowed to purchase literally hundreds of weapons with the FBI looking on. So with every shooting, accidental or otherwise, which has occurred since the Arizona tragedy, and in spite of the actually declining numbers when we look at the overall violent crime picture in the United States, and in the face of glaring examples of what happens when the Feds go off the reservation on this ideological agenda stuff, is it not the height of hypocrisy when the DOJ continues to ignore mounting evidence of impropriety and even potential criminal activity within its own departmental structure, yet they are already preparing subpoenas for News Corp. based on the so far completely unsubstantiated claims that the cell phones of 9/11 victims and their families where hacked by the company?? I have my fun with Independent voters a lot. They are generally an easy target because they leave so much on the table for scrutiny. Realistically, it will in fact be difficult for the President to coral the Independent voter numbers he did in 2008. The reason is simple when you look at some of the polls out today. Independents are always inclined to give the nod to a charismatic POTUS with a photogenic family. This was a huge selling point for JFK when he was in crisis mode and his actual job approval numbers were low. That dynamic goes away however, as economic conditions specifically, worsen and Independent voters start to feel a bit of the pinch themselves. These are not uneducated people mind you. Quite to the contrary, the demographics for Independent Voters show a high percentage of urban college graduates. They are just more inclined to feel as though they will be socially acceptable if they give the appearance of “independence” (political correctness). Historically, this has always gotten us into trouble during Presidential Elections and clearly this was one of those times. While President Obama’s numbers are indeed falling, many are still hesitant to place any of the blame for our current situation on his watch. Sadly, another offshoot dynamic of Independents which addresses this political blindness, is that they are slow to admit there preoccupation with everything other than the big picture nationally. Very often they allow themselves to be corrupted by small arguments which deflect away from the critical decision issues facing our political leaders in Washington. This always allows slick players like “tax cheat Tim Geithner” and (WH) Harry Reid to play fast and loose with the facts in an effort to refocus voters. (This is the part where I ask the Independents: aren’t you just a little uncomfortable with a guy who has issues paying his own taxes asking you to pay more?) Ultimately, that college degree doesn’t always make folks smart…
So as we take stock of the last week politically, it is always frustrating for some of us to reconcile the numbers when the truth is so glaring. But in the end, the economy is unlikely to recover at a pace other than what it would have if our President sat in the oval office playing “Angry Birds” for 2½ years. When you add in the debt dilemma and the healthcare hurricane on the horizon, the future simply does not look good for # 44, and I don’t care how much money he raises from the fat cat donors he so vehemently demonizes.

I know you’re all aware of my affinity for history, and so I like to pass stuff on as I come across it. I make no secret of my feelings on the History of our first President as taught in the public classroom today. The story of George Washington is so much more though, and there are countless historical references to the man who should be held up to our young ones as America’s first superhero. Anyway, a friend of my wife’s who home schools her children came across “the battle of the Monongahela River” as a teachable moment and thought to herself, this is the type of thing we should be teaching more of. Michelle White wrote a short story around this event which certainly was a part of Washington’s early military career (America’s Bulletproof Hero), and Heather DeMello sketched the colorful cover and inserts. This is a fabulous little book for children and adults alike, and was recently published by “Tate Publishing”. I am providing the link to purchase it through amazon.com, and I highly recommend you do so. It would make a great read in place of “SpongeBob” some evening.

Mr. President, the “Great Emancipator”, coaxed a nation to the side of justice with only a pen, persistence and the power of his faith. He supported his argument and promoted his cause using truth and the idea that a government “of the people, by the people, for the people” should not perish from the earth”, and he did so without a teleprompter I might add.
With all due respect President Obama, to liken your efforts regarding this debt crisis and the reasons for it, to those of President Lincoln and the struggle for true and God given equality among human kind, trivializes our history and the indelible moments defined therein. And while this was happening, the POTUS was hiding out in one of his more comfortable venues, a university. It is never a surprise when the President seeks a friendly audience amidst political turmoil, economic or otherwise. And what better place than an environment largely permeated by youthful ignorance and a truly academic as opposed to realistic approach to problem solving. Softball questions and the adoring gaze of young minds just waiting to be corrupted are orders of the day for the Commander in Chief.
Meanwhile, those nasty Republicans are back in Washington facing the reality of finding a way out of this financial mud bog we are all now swimming in. While John Boehner revisits the missed opportunities of Election 2010 which left 51 Democrats still a majority in the Senate, and fusses over the nonsensical gibberish coming out of (WH) Harry Reid’s mouth, Mr. Obama is stuck in perpetual “campaign 08 mode, clambering on about how he “won’t be happy till every American who wants a job has one”. Has this guy seen the unemployment numbers?? While the Federal Reserve is considering contingency plans for a default scenario and contemplating government without borrowing capability, the President is yakking about obscure trade deals. And while Americans grapple with hardship in this Obama economy, the President is cracking jokes about being cooped up in a room with Congressional Leaders and needing to get away. What about us Mr. President?
Listening to this man at times has truly become an act of self-torture…

I like it just the way it is…

I was born and raised Catholic though I attend my wife’s Christian Church these days. Let’s just say I came from a rather hypocritical neighborhood and sort of fell out of the Catholic Church. I do however, still keep a few of the traditions as a matter of faith, personal experience and conviction. Conviction, now there’s a word. I like the word conviction because it represents the “journey” I often speak of. The journey to be on the side of right has always been a matter of the personal convictions which have been a part of me and which I know in my heart are attainable only by me, for me.
I have been careless enough in my time to have wound up on deaths door more than once and my God has been there to answer my pleas and prayers for another swing at it. So as a matter of personal faith and recognition of Jesus Christ’s efforts on my behalf, I make the sign of the cross every time I pass a church with a visible cross. Simplistic I know, but just my way of giving a shout out for my prayers I know have been answered and to let Him know that I will never forget… Moreover, I don’t give a hoot who sees me. (Luke 9:26)
So when I read of a ministry which I feel is so important today (Campus Crusade for Christ International) deciding to remove the “name Christ” from their title as they felt it was getting in the way of their “mission”, I admit I was a bit conflicted. I read on to understand they even made reference to the Middle Ages and how the word Christianity evoked a negative response in some areas of the world. Let me ask, would that be the areas where they celebrate the torture and beheading of innocents, or the enslavement of women, or maybe those areas where history paints a picture of evil on a continental scale. I was just curious. I would also ask why Christ’s name would be a “hindrance” because of an era when it was most certainly “mankind” who distorted the message, and not Christ.
Only in this politically correct and ever more divided world could it be said that the Person whose name has personified peace and the love of your fellow man for more than 2000 years be a hindrance. The message is the message people, and the Man’s name is His name, M’shee-khah http://www.v-a.com/bible/aramaic-jesus.html. Any ambiguity, misuse or misrepresentation of Same is the sole responsibility of mankind for all of his vanity and flaws. Be mindful oh missionaries of the CCCI, never in the history of the world have the lines between good and evil been as discernible as they are today. Do not disguise or omit his name but rather champion it. Inevitably, it may be our last best hope on earth.
Well done NASA…

Space Shuttle

With the close of the Shuttle program I feel that while a sad reminder of a national tragedy, President Reagan’s words that evening tell the story of what this “Endeavour” has meant to all of us as a nation.

I have very mixed emotions on the end of the Space Shuttle Program. Appropriately, I am ever cognizant of the immense number of contributions this effort has brought to the many facets of our lives and those of all mankind, The national pride and prestige that accompanied these accomplishments also came to symbolize American exceptionalism, and is an everlasting tribute to those who lost their lives as “they slipped the surly bonds of earth, to touch the face of God”. It is for these reasons however, that I am left to ponder our current condition and how this must be perceived by those around the globe, friend and foe alike. I am also left to write, “When will America soar again”?

That aside,
To the courageous members of all the Shuttle Crews here and aloft, as well as their support teams at NASA, Thank you for the truly amazing ride, and God bless you…

Obama Poll, Chrysler bail out, GOP

I’m sorry Sir, did you say the price of that Jeep behind you is $1.3 billion dollars??

I am both encouraged and discouraged today when I look a recent FOX Poll citing several match up’s for the 2012 Presidential Election. I am excited to see that Governor Rick Perry (R) Texas is surging against others in the GOP early going. I am discouraged however to see that the President continues to lead in head to head comparisons against the Republican field despite his dismal record. I guess I should be happy he remains under the magic number of 50% with growing negatives on his handling of the economy, and with Perry already within 10 not even having announced. But I’m a realist who understands very clearly the disingenuous schmooze of this “Chicago player” and his band of merry Socialists, and how they still have many “middle of the road ten per centers” drinking the Kool-Aid and chanting “yes we can”, albeit a bit more softly. There is much work yet to be done people, if we are to save our great nation…

Congressman Alan West R Florida called out Congresswoman Debbie WassermanSchultz D Florida

The war of words over the budget has ticked up a notch on Capitol Hill today as Congressman Alan West (R) Florida called out Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D) Florida for berating his stance on the debt ceiling debate while on the House floor. There is evidently a history between these two, and I guess West used some pretty harsh language in an email response, though it was not vulgar. Frankly, I just have a hard time with the women of the Democratic Caucus now coming out and calling for West to apologize.
Come on people. First let’s acknowledge what is a long and sorted history of “questionable” exchanges between lawmakers in Washington with some members even physically assaulting one another. Moreover, there is plenty of blame to go around on both sides relating to this sort of back and forth within the halls of Congress. Does anyone remember the Liberal ranting’s of the late great Ted Kennedy? I mean the open microphone on that guy was shall we just say, revealing as to his thoughts on his political and ideological opponents. And there is always that famous Grayson comment, “Republicans want you to die quickly”. This is simply how things get ramped up on “The Hill” during these types of debates.
Getting back to my issue with the women though, time and again we have heard the women of Liberal politics rail against the Republicans for this and that, but remain silent when Conservative women like Bachmann and Palin are verbally assaulted daily by Lefty politicians and the main stream media elitists. Personally, and I know I’m gonna catch here, I think the girls need to “man up” a bit and understand that if your side is gonna continue to dish it, then you had better be prepared to take it. If Wasserman-Schultz is comfortable with some of the references she has made to West both during his campaign and now into his term, then she should just crawl back to her side of the isle and call it even. You cannot necessarily have your political cake and eat it too, Debbie…

Now that the qualifier is out of the way let me ask you, is anyone surprised at the rush to pile on Rupert Murdoch because he owns FOX? I mean, do any of you really find it unusual that the New York Times and other Obama apologists would be dedicating three and four times the coverage to that story as opposed to the debt crisis in their daily rags and on their broadcasts? Heck, even FOX is leading with it. Go figure…
What I’m truly concerned about is that our Justice Department under AG Eric Holder is now investigating whether or not laws were broken here in the United States. I’m sorry; would that be Eric Holder of “Fast and Furious” fame? Really??? This guy couldn’t find truth or justice with two hands and a flashlight.

Taxes, Van Hollen, Obama

What we spend.

What we take in and how.

I was talking to my wife this morning about taxes and what I like to call the “the trickle down tax effect”. I came up with this term while analyzing my home state of Rhode Island’s tax code, and how a lot of folks there just don’t have a good grip on the “real” story when it comes to taxes. They don’t understand what taxes actually pay for, and they don’t understand our true obligations as placed upon us by greedy and self-serving elected officials while we’ve been sleeping. More often than not, it is this lack of understanding which allows for some to reconcile the raising of taxes as a necessary means to an end when considering our debt at all levels. Simple example:
Many Rhode Islanders have previously enjoyed the benefit of a state subsidy to their respective cities and towns which covered the first six thousand dollars of taxable value to their vehicles. (The fact that there is a “property tax” on vehicles at all in RI is a different story for another day). That money however came from the “trickle down” legislative posturing by politicians, employed to disguise the true cost of governing in the manner they have, and has led to so many of those very same cities and towns now being nearly bankrupt. The reason is even simpler though. As we now see clearly, the states and federal government are out of “free cash”. And so “we” now, (or will very soon), feel the full force of the taxation necessary to run the massive and bloated vehicle government has built with our children’s money. As I have said many times, the dependency by municipal on state, as well as state on federal, created an air of complacency which over time has shielded “We the People” from the full effect of the political fleecing brought upon us by our “representative government”.
Now you can imagine the questions I get from some of the same people I tried to convince of this impending doom on so many prior occasions, (arguments). “Why the heck did I get a tax bill on my 96 Chevy this year? It ain’t worth five hundred bucks but the town says it’s worth thirty five hundred in the Blue Book, arghhh”!!!! Or worse yet, “Why is my tax bill on my new Ford almost double what it was last year? Didn’t I pay the taxes at the dealer”??? It is almost sad to have to explain to them that they missed the fine print. You see folks, the money has to come from somewhere.
Look, all I’m saying is this is more than just a question of taxes. We have allowed our leaders to spend us into unimaginable debt, and even if you sucked every dime from the so called “wealthiest” Americans out there, it wouldn’t scratch the surface of a problem almost a hundred years in the making. To believe that line is to kick the can once again, down what is now a cul-de-sac of reality…

Debt Ceiling debate, President Obama
1

Start by putting on your ties boys… You too Nancy…

I can’t be the only one who sees the irony in Mayor Rohm Emanuel’s almost prophetic words, “you never want a serious crisis to go to waste”. It turns out his former boss is reading straight out of that playbook. Only in the quagmire that has become Washington today can we find such blatant hypocrisy. Well, I guess we should be grateful that the POTUS is at least “leading” in some area.
President Obama’s insistence on the grandest debt deal possible smacks of deflecting attention away from his dramatic and historic policy failures. He is now out in front of the cameras screaming the house is on fire, when just two years ago he was in the basement with a can of gasoline and a match. Having helped quadrupled the deficit with his failed “stimulus” in 2008/2009, when he had announced earlier that he would actually cut the deficit in half by the end of his term, we now find ourselves buried in unprecedented debt which is growing in such dramatic fashion we cannot even rap our brains around it.
Consistent unemployment and unbelievably, an insistence on taxing and spending even more money as part of any solution have pushed our country to the sobering reality we face every morning when we watch the news. Hold on though, now the President is finally ringing the alarm bell as he and his cohorts are realizing their “academic” efforts have been a huge part of the problem. Consequently, and in true Liberal form, he must now blame away that problem and paint himself as the big fixer, the man with all the answers, the problem solver, and the only adult in the room. I’m sorry Mr. President, for some of us who have watched this charade of a Presidency from the beginning, the truth tells a very different story. Yes we had serious issues in 2008 that had to be addressed. But a Socialism oriented community organizer with little or no executive/leadership experience outside of a classroom was not the answer and has only compounded those issues by politicizing a debate which may have dramatic and dangerous consequences for “We the People” in the very near future.
My gut tells me there will be a deal to stave off any predicted calamity by the Left, who ironically are more concerned with losing control of the checkbook than anything. One other thing is for certain however, and that is ideologies aside, the electorate of this country had better wake up and see the big picture in 2012. We need to get the keys back from this bunch before this car really does “go over the cliff”…
The usual suspects…

Durbin Van Hollen Jackson Lee

As serious as this debt ceiling thing has become, it’s always a little funny to see the roaches come out from under the fridge… I’m talking about the tax and spend, stone cold Libs like Senator Dick “the Turban” Durbin (D) Ill, Congressman Chris “I never met a tax hike I didn’t like” Van Hollen (D) MD, and Congresswoman Sheila “everyone is a racist who doesn’t like Obama” Jackson Lee (D) TX. If you notice though, it is usually only in an environment where they can demonize the opposition, disguise their lack of solutions to the real problems with partisan rhetoric, and deflect any discussion of the facts by screaming racism and elderly abuse every time they are asked a legitimate question. These folks and those like them on Capitol Hill run to the podium like children to an ice cream truck whenever they here those sacrilegious words, “balanced budget amendment”, because the notion of accountability to an entitlement Liberal is akin to a cross to a vampire.
Mind you, I admit that some on the right, whether because they lacked the spine to do what was necessary, or maybe they too saw no problem with growing the federal government beyond its intended purpose, have contributed to our crumbling economy. But the folks I just mentioned are the poster children for the establishment Liberals and their well-documented and consistent propensity to spend what they do not have and then some.
Sadly, when one looks at the polls, it is easy to see they may very well be winning the public relations war. This just tells me I have much to do in the area of continuing to get the truth out. I must admit however, it is frustrating to read the many emails I get from those who revel in the notion that they may defeat the evil Republicans in the PR battle. But it is equally frustrating to realize that these poor bastards can’t see the train racing up from behind them.
My message to the Republican hierarchy is simple. Take off the gloves would ya? Put your ties back on and take a page from this guy Jordan’s playbook. Stop trying to “fit in” and call it like you know it is. Stop cowering to this President and his Socialist minions and let the chips fall where they may. Because in the end, politics and your shiny seat in Washington won’t mean a lick when the game is over period…

Jack Reed D Rhode Island

http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html

The link above will take you to The United States Constitution. The document, while simple and a relatively easy read, spells out the best arrangement for mankind under God as I have been known to call it. The idea of a government, limited in scope, allowing for a free people to “pursue” happiness at their own discretion, fueled the economic engine which would eventually drive the most powerful nation the world has ever known. So how did we get here from there? I only ask that you take some time when you can and read the Constitution. And when you have finished please stop and ask yourself, how far have we come from the ideas and ideals contained within it, and is this the America the Founders envisioned?
I will agree with those who say we should step back and analyze how much we are prepared to continue spending on wars with seemingly endless parameters, though I would add that the premise for the wars of the last decade was brought to our doorstep by the enemy we are now fighting. I would also add that “the common defense” of our “United States” actually is a responsibility of the federal government as laid out in the Constitution. This is why I want to scream when I hear the likes of Senator Jack Reed (D) Rhode Island, saying we are simply paying the bills of the previous Administration. Admittedly, this type of political posturing is not unusual. But in a time when the nation’s debt has reached previously unimaginable numbers, he sounds more like a political rat running for his hole.
The realities of the problems we face are simple in their make-up, but the solutions are hardly as simple. For the purposes of understanding, let me say what no politician would dare. We have grown our government to a point that we can no longer afford the services for which it was originally “intended”. And now that most economists are telling us that the interest on our debt combined with unchecked and massive entitlement spending will eat up fully 92% of every dollar collected in taxes by 2019, it is clear that folks like Jack Reed are part of an existing problem in Washington, but one that has grown dramatically on this Presidents watch.
So I ask you again to read the Constitution and then decide whether or not you chose to believe the facts concerning our current fiscal troubles, or take the path of least resistance and buy into the rhetoric of a mathematically challenged President who continues to choose demagoguery and class warfare as his weapons of choice, but has yet to specify a single spending cut or provide any details of this “balanced approach” he keeps talking about.
The POTUS may be right about an impending economic Armageddon, however his emphasis on the debt ceiling itself as the trigger may be off. Actually, if we ignore the (collective problem), highlighted by unsustainable spending and debt which are outside the role of the federal government, seniors not getting their Social Security checks may just be the least of our worries…
The truth will set you free…
