Promote the general welfare, not provide the general welfare… Where have I heard this? I wish this guy was running in Rhode Island. I would climb over broken glass to vote for him…

Lieutenant Colonel Allen West

The President continues to have problems maintaining his campaign rhetoric and governing at the same time. This will crescendo when he tries to schmooze the union folks this coming week. In the final analysis, the money to pay for this health care disaster has to come from somewhere. You can’t get it from those you mean to give it to, you can’t pay for it exclusively by taxing the rich into a lower bracket, and you can’t print any more money than you already have without scaring international investors into jumping ship completely.

So what’s left? Tax the heck out of the middle class working stiff by whacking his “Cadillac health care plan” forcing his boss to pass that cost onto him. Oh, and while your at it, heap more taxes onto working families with dual incomes resulting from being married. Great, another marriage tax that not only tags married couples another $2000.00, but really goes the long mile in promoting the family unit, ay Mr. President??

But Mr. Obama seems to have forgotten some of his key supporters from back in 08, and this may give him a little heart burn shortly. The union leadership has big capital, political and otherwise, invested in this President, and he is now poised to stick it right up their collective (you know what’s) with this health care bill. The union rank and file will be screaming from the rafters as these new taxes send their existing plan rates skyrocketing, and eventually force everybody into a government option plan waiting in the wings. (You heard me right, don’t be fooled into thinking this bill is not just a first step toward an eventual single payer system down the legislative Yellow Brick Road). Health care as the average union worker (and for that matter, any worker) knows it, is about to be racially changed, and this President is desperately trying to conceal that fact until his legislation becomes law.

Stay focused Folks. There is nothing “deficit neutral” about this nightmare. The Dems have to pay for it with something. Look closely, read the bill and you will see that this “Historic Legislation” will be historic for very different reasons then they would have you believe.

I must admit, the Dems being in power sure makes for a target rich environment. You have to wonder sometimes though, about the complicity of the main stream media when we are just now hearing about comments made by WH Harry Reid, about then Senator Barack Obama back during the 2008 Presidential race. Senator Reid described Senator Obama as “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect.” What exactly is the “Negro dialect” Harry?? You can’t make this stuff up people. If you let them, they will eventually show you who they truly are. Once again I call on the good folks in Nevada to show this fool the door, as it seems clear he will not do us all the service of leaving on his own.

Despite all of the Presidents (after the horse is out of the barn) pontificating, his speech today seemed almost weighed down with apologetic and overture laden caveats. No one is suggesting a “bunker mentality” Mr. President, just a simple acknowledgement of the fight we face, with all of it’s critically important idiosyncrasies.

Whether this President, or anyone else for that matter wants to admit it, this enemy has a clear and distinctive “profile”. To ignore this will only further embolden him and endanger American lives moving forward. We must face this threat head on. Those innocents among the Muslim faithful who are true to their beliefs acknowledge this, and are not compromised by it.

Moreover, we should also expect, (along with our President), that those same Muslim faithful must not only publically disassociate themselves with the extremist murderers of the innocent hiding amongst them, but seek them out in their homelands and expel them to human justice.

I heard nothing in the Presidents speech that “shocked” me. It was more of the same. They didn’t properly address the threat as it became apparent, and therefore are now playing catch-up for the cameras.

Pathetic!

National Counterterrorism Center Director Michael Leiter decides his ski trip trumps his job, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano’s initial statement that the “system worked”, and the President himself, who’s response to the attempted bombing of flight 253 was less than that we would expect from the Commander in Chief after such an event. Add all of this to the Army base attack which left 13 dead after officials failed to act on intelligence identifying suspected gunman Nidal Hasan as a possible extremists threat, and this Presidents international extended hand policy, and we have a Bush League disaster that puts every American in harm’s way unnecessarily.

Now to see President Obama scrambling to portray himself as “in control” and taking appropriate action doesn’t do much to boost my confidence. Stay alert Folks, and be prepared to protect you and yours, as clearly, this bunch is too engrossed in the trappings of power to fulfill their Constitutional obligations.

Anyway, thank you CSPAN for asking the tough questions. This President has reneged on just about every promise he made to “We the People” on the campaign trail, while simultaneously and methodically dismantling everything that is good about this Country. Frankly, the most obvious reason for any back room wheeling and dealing free of the peoples eye, is simply so we don’t get to see or hear about things in this bill that will inevitably lead to higher taxes, the destruction of our current health care plans, and the pillaging of Medicare, to name a few. This is to say nothing of the thousands of more subtle changes that will remake 1/6 of our national economy into something you will never recognize again.

Nancy Pelosi and her gang of bandits, are literally looking into the camera and telling you; “tough if you don’t like it, but we know what’s best for you, now close that door you little commoners”. Our Representative Government is in danger and we must take it back.

OMG … This is just the beginning Folks. Make no mistake, the first phase of this grand scheme to “save” health care is going to bury the middle class and destroy the system. $500 Billion dollars slashed from Medicare, penalties and fines for those who opt out, huge taxes on so called “Cadillac plans” offered to Folks with Chevy paychecks as employment incentives. The business community will certainly pass this (cost of doing business) along to the workers, they would be foolish not to. All this in an economy clearly running on 3 cylinders. And not a single needle stick until this President has been re-elected to a second term. Slick, very slick, though I don’t think they will be able to pull it off.

We have a secret weapon in this fight, Knowledge. We are hurting and we have done our homework this time. Politics as usual is in the spotlight, and the American people are increasingly fed up and motivated for change. REAL change!

I believe without doubt, that the failure of both the President and those around him to think outside the pre-911 box continues to slow their response and endanger this Country. Even Democrats on the Hill are questioning the Administrations initially indignant and snail like response to this most recent attack. Moreover, the whole notion of closing a “military prison camp” and sending it’s “occupants” back to places like Yemen so they may train to kill and maim another day, is preposterous. Affording these enemy combatants the same hard fought judicial rights extended to the citizens of this country, essentially free of charge, is a travesty. The use of terms like “man made disaster” to describe events like the destruction of the Twin Towers, shows a level of contempt for the victims and their families so blatant that it makes me want to scream. It’s as if they are trying to manipulate our feelings about that awful day and the “War on Terror” altogether.

I fear there will be more innocent bloodshed on U.S. soil sooner rather than later, a situation we can ill afford at this point in time.

I find it ironic though, that for all his blabber about how we handled things all wrong under Bush, President Obama is now finding that actually fulfilling his Constitutional Oath to preserve and protect is much harder than it looks on TV..

I’d like to start off the year on a positive note if I could. The constant drag of current events can take its toll, even on a “political junkie” like me. As many of you are aware, I have an affinity for certain projects, especially those I see as vital to our children’s future. Some years back I was cruising the net and came across the story of the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, and the monumental work they have been doing in restoring and maintaining our first Presidents home.

In 1858, Pamela Cunningham came upon an American landmark in a state of significant disrepair. She formed the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association and purchased the mansion, and a portion of the land from George Washington’s Great- Grand Nephew, John A. Washington Jr. Years later, and while the government recognizes the now fully restored 500 acre parcel as a historical site, the Ladies’ Association continues to accept no federal funds whatsoever to support their grand endeavor. Since about 1860, they have relied totally on donations of monetary nature as well of historical items of the period, to include many of George and Martha Washington’s personal belongings.

I tell you this because of the greatness I see in the mission of the MVLA. These Folks realize as I do, that the passage of generations has left much to chance in the way of educating our children about Americas first and best hero. Now I promise not to carry on with a mantra of my revisionist history pieces, but I must tell you that if it were not for the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, and organizations like it, we would certainly be much further along in the disintegration of our Founders legacy.

So I ask that if you are feeling a little patriotic and generous on this first day of 2010, send a few dollars to the Ladies, so they may continue their work, not only at Mount Vernon itself, but also to achieve their goal of a poster/portrait of the Father of our Country in every classroom in America, as well as continuing to gather funding to fight the battles like, the current push to replace GW on the Quarter. Sigh…You cant make this stuff up…Let’s face it Folks, it’s up to us to pick up where today’s educators and (leaders) go astray of the real and critically important history of this great Country.

Hit the link below, I think you’ll love the tour and learning page. I plan to visit again, but for the first time with my boy this summer. It is a truly awe inspiring trip,”For Patriots Only”.

As we transition from one year of uncertainty to the next, we should take stock of what we know so we may endeavor to make better decisions in 2010. Sounds like a plan, right?

Well someone should explain this approach to the Obama Administration. Treating Terrorists like common criminals, pumping still more money into General Motors, radical entitlement programs that threaten the entire economy, cap and tax, are just some of what’s in store for us this year… It’s been some time since we have rung in the New Year with a road map like this. Thinking back, yeah, Jimmy Carter, though I think this President will eventually make Carter look like JFK.

I do believe the difference to be more sinister though. I believe Carter was simply a grossly unqualified fool. This President seems to have a very clear agenda, albeit an un-Constitutional and clearly un-American one.

If you would make one resolution this year, in addition to quitting smoking and/or donuts, could it be to stay informed like you never have before. I don’t know about you folks, but I see us at those “cross roads” so often invoked, and barely hanging on to our national identity.

Let’s make 2010 the year we get back to who we are, a nation that worries about what’s right, not what’s worldly or fashionable, a Country that recognizes our obvious human freedoms and liberties as the real foundations for the betterment of the human condition, and a true world leader that understands that while no nation is perfect, the idea that is The United States of America remains the best arrangement for mankind under God.

Happy New Year Folks. Be safe, remember the children, and God Bless…

“If Congress sends me a defense bill loaded with earmarks and pork, I will veto it” (President Obama)

In fact, the President signed a $640 Billion dollar defense appropriations bill with over 2000 pork projects (earmarks), while simultaneously cutting over $300 Million dollars from the same bill, slated to advance the successful counter insurgency program being used in Iraq.

So let me get this straight, you support the slashing of money from the military, appropriated in the very bill which exists to fund it, and then load that bill up with junk we can’t afford, flying in the face of every statement you have ever made on the subject.

I’m not sure the current definition of liar covers these people. I think we have to come up with something more reflective of their mastery of the subject.

War vs. Crime

Once again this Administration has blurred the lines between protecting the Country in time of war, and the prosecution of the criminal element on the streets here at home. President Obama continues to view Al Qaeda as some sort of street gang in a high crime suburb of Chicago, requiring a heavy police presence and “crime watch” after midnight. Now I would not diminish the extraordinary and heroic work of our Nations Police Officers getting it done every day, but this is definitely the equivalent of apples and oranges.

In rushing to call this an “isolated extremist incident”, (days later I might add), the President wasted valuable time when he could have turned this individual over to the military and possibly extracted some valuable data from him. That data could have been disseminated down to our clandestine forces using drone attacks in Yemen so they might of sent additional Al Qaeda murderers to meet Allah. Instead we now have a baby faced enemy combatant in “police custody” that will clam up and reap the full benefits of the United States Justice System, complete with another million dollar circus trial.

This would be comical if it were not so incredibly serious. This President and his like minded “anti military” cohorts, are placing “We the People” in harm’s way, while ignoring their basic Constitutional duty to defend the Country. Consequently, I have great trepidation that these killers of the innocent can see this weakness and will exploit it to its maximum, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of innocent Americans or worse.

With every situation this bunch faces on our behalf, it becomes more and more clear that they are simply out of their league. We are at War Mr. President!

We can already see them beginning to fall like leaves in a wind storm. Those from the House side so opposed to the Senate Health Care Bill that they would walk a mile on hot lava before they’d support it now publicly stating, “We could embrace this measure”.

Do these people have even an ounce of integrity or honor? I have always said that a person who is true to his/her convictions is far more worthy of my respect than one who is corrupted by power, regardless of their political leanings.

This scenario reinforces for me the notion that Democrats are committed to ride this train straight off the cliff to make their agenda a reality in this Country. With this in mind, Republicans must not be shy about politically punching them silly with the facts this November.

“We the people” are obviously disenchanted to say the least with this President and his policies, however the lack of a cohesive alternative message will not serve the prospects of the Republican Party well, nor will it help a hurting nation.

This coming election cycle is realistically one of, if not the most important in our Republics 233 year history. It will certainly be a reflection of the true will of “We the People”. Therefore, we must make our message understood. (Constitutionality and true representative government, with an end to business as usual, not just lip service from a packaged Chicago politician). How badly do we want to fix what’s broken and secure the legacy of freedom for our children? Hmmm?

Despite having a vicious bug right through Christmas and beyond, I always manage to have a better outlook moving into the New Year. The Christmas story will do that to you.

Anyway, I’m back and I don’t know where to begin. There is just so much out there, from Senator Sheldon Whitehouse calling anyone who is against health care a Nazi, to the Obama Administration trying their level best to find a way to blame the recent attempted terrorist attack on George Bush. Boy is that getting old. So I’ll try to prioritize.

The idea that a 22 year old from a rich family in Nigeria decides to hook up with Al Qaeda in Yemen, and don some explosive Jockey shorts for a plane ride to Detroit is well, alarming. (And it sounds down right painful as well.) What is more alarming though, and altogether predictable I might add, is the Obama Administration’s focus on the political blame game rather than on the fact that we are getting ready to ship a whole bunch of detainees from Cuba to Yemen. Now there’s a plan. Right back to training boys… What do I say here??? Bush League!!!

Regarding Senator Whitehouse, again I must reiterate my absolute disgust at having to admit this jackass is from my home state. Not up for re-election. Enough said on that one.

Health care my friends, is the big one. With the inevitable and recent passage of the Senate version, we now are facing a truly historic crossroads. But as the President calls these crossroads a necessary fix to a looming crisis, we who have taken the time to read and understand the end game within both bills, know this to be more about the implementation of another government entitlement program that will bring with it irrecoverable losses and a crippling effect to the small business engine that drives this Country, the likes of which we have not seen.

Anyway, with the exception of the usual fanatics, I am confident that most readers of this blog are students of history. Having said this, it is that history we now turn to for direction. Crossroads? I agree Mr. President. But at the end of those roads I suspect you will be seen as an ineffective leader as well as a huge partisan part of the problem, rather than someone having seized a moment in time to make good history.

Alright… I’m having a coughing fit,,, talk to you all tomorrow…

Another shot before the holiday. Adding one more to the myriad of problems with the current health care legislation in congress, there are a handful of conscious legislators looking at the actual Constitutionality of the proposals. One would think that as Congress prepares to mandate anything for the American people, they would exercise their first and most important responsibility to debate whether or not they are trampling the right of “We the People” to say, “no thanks”. So get ready for some robust and all together appropriate challenges to WH Harry Reid and Fancy Nancy Pelosi dictating you must purchase health insurance if you want to be an American Citizen. I often wonder if any in congress have read and/or even understand the Constitution. Truthfully, I think they could care less…

On another note, you have Claire McCaskill (D) Missouri calling the Republicans Grinch’s and accusing them of hypocrisy, when they have had super majority power to change what they choose for some time now. After all, weren’t these beauty’s and President Obama sent to Washington to change the status quo??? (Hope and change) The best belated Christmas gift we could give to one another this November, is a new Congress that does not “flip us the bird” when we so clearly express our will.

Oh, and a message to Sheldon Whitehouse (D) Rhode Island: The only Folks that are aggrieved Sir, are the good citizens of your state and of this Country that you have consistently ignored as they have screamed for you to START OVER! Look up (political hack) in the Washington Dictionary, and you’ll see this fools picture. Sorry Rhode Island, he’s not up for reelection. What a disgrace.

Oh, and one more piece of coal to hand out to Treasury Secretary Geithner, please go and tell the poor Folks in Detroit, and dozens of other devastated cities and towns across this Country, with unemployment as high as 50%, that the economy is “accelerating”. I mean, are these people for real, or do they think we are that stupid??

I’m beginning to shift gears for the Christmas Holiday. I need to take a few days for family and friends as should you all. I will continue to post more thoughts of Christmas right through Thursday, and then pick up again the following Monday. There is much to do as I’m sure you know, but at least for a bit, it is time to see things through a different prism, one which lets in the light of peace and hope.

Oh, the snowflakes fell in silence

Over Belleau Wood that night

For a Christmas truce had been declared

By both sides of the fight

As we lay there in our trenches

The silence broke in two

By a German soldier singing

A song that we all knew

Though I did not know the language

The song was “Silent Night”

Then I heard my buddy whisper,

“All is calm and all is bright”

Then the fear and doubt surrounded me

For I’d die if I was wrong

But I stood up in my trench

And I began to sing along

Then across the frozen battlefield

Another’s voice joined in

Until one by one each man became

A singer of the hymn

Then I thought that I was dreaming

For right there in my sight

Stood the German soldier

‘Neath the falling flakes of white

And he raised his hand and smiled at me

As if he seemed to say

Here’s hoping we both live

To see us find a better way

Then the devil’s clock struck midnight

And the skies lit up again

And the battlefield where heaven stood

Was blown to hell again

But for just one fleeting moment

The answer seemed so clear

Heaven’s not beyond the clouds

It’s just beyond the fear

No, heaven’s not beyond the clouds

It’s for us to find it here

In the end even Ben Nelson (D) Nebraska was bought off. Sorry Folks, but you had to know this was never a principled debate for the Dems, but rather a simple numbers game. WH Harry Reid fully intends to rush this “passed” us in the dark of night and on a holiday so we never see it.

Now I know you’re asking, what does this all mean?? OK hear it is… We continue to do as we have and voice our displeasure. We remain steadfast in our opposition and we make the SOB’s pay dearly in November. I know this does not sound like the answer many of you have hoped for and written to me about, but it is the correct course of action. Throughout this whole process and many before it there remains one constant, and that is the voting booth. Ultimately we hold the key to the very thing they seek above every other, the seat of power. It will soon be time to remind the politicians of something they seem to have forgotten, (or just ignored). That seat belongs to “We the People”, and in the end we will have the last say.

So just stay the course, pay attention, and make the best holiday you can for your family, but plan on taking back your country in the next year. There is no greater human power in this world than to use ones free vote to affect change. As we have witnessed, that change may not always be for the better, but the good news is we can go back and change it again. Thank a Soldier for that next time you see one.

The upshot: Health care is far from a done deal, and make no mistake, the reason for that is YOU!

The President expressed his “frustration” today with the notion that his $100 Billion overture in Copenhagen was not soundly embraced, and “he” subsequently worshiped as the savior of the summit. OK President Obama, let me help define frustration so even an elitist bureaucrat like you can understand it.

Frustration is having to choose between gas vs. groceries this week, and heat vs. rent at the end of the month. Frustration is watching your hard earned investments ebb and flow like the tide on a full moon. Frustration is being told that your services are no longer needed after 15 years at your job. Frustration is watching the bank auction off your home and belongings. Frustration is telling your 19 year old that the money you thought you had for her second year of college is no longer there. Frustration is listening to your local politicians tell you they can’t pay the municipal bills and they need still more of your money. Frustration is living in one small room in a half way house with your 4 year old son and wondering how you will explain that there will be no presents this year. This is just my short list of real folks I have spoken with of recent. I could go on, but I think I’ve made my point.

So Mr. President, as you contemplate how to throw away more of the American Taxpayers money on things like helping some piss ant, dictatorial, 3rd world nation (that hates our guts anyhow) spew less smog, or maybe how to spend away our grandchildren’s future while simultaneously destroying the greatest health care system on the planet, would you please take a knee, gather your freaking senses, and think of our Country for real…

We are sinking fast and all this man and his socialist buddies can do is throw us anchor, after anchor, after anchor…

You’re frustrated Mr. President??? No we are frustrated Sir, and we are looking for some of that hope and change you promised. So save those sarcastic little innuendos and be the leader you were elected to be!

It is ironic though, that it may be the Liberals in both houses that ultimately torpedo this debacle once and for all. The good thing that will come from it is the floor debate which will clearly leave mainstream America horrified when they hear exactly what some of these “Lefties” have to say. (Hey, get Grayson out there…) I remain a big proponent of the open floor debate because it does not allow the deceivers and snakes to hide behind a closed door locked by the complicit media.

Stay tuned Folks, its getting good…

I know the holidays are here. I know you’re preoccupied with pumpkin pie, eggnog and such. And I know that shopping has its own especially difficult economic scenarios this year. But please do not lose focus.

Harry Reid and his gang are determined take a bill that remains horrible in so many ways, and shove it right down our throats.

1400 new regulations for medical providers, over 400 Billion dollars in cuts to Medicare, billions in new taxes 3 years in advance of a single treatment, and millions of illegal’s in this Country coming in the back door to coverage. There is simply not enough bandwidth for me to get into the meat of this nightmare.

More than 70% of those in a recent poll have said it would be better to do nothing, or to simply start over. Approval for the bills in their current forms is under 38% in just about every poll out there. The President’s approval rating is falling faster than Tiger’s pants. If this isn’t proof enough of what these people are really up to, I don’t know what is.

Do not be fooled by the main stream media. Keep up the pressure, its working.

So for all of you hard working “average American women” out there, getting the job done for real everyday, feel free to send me (in confidence of course), some names you might have for the good Senator. If you can’t think of any, I would be glad to help out. Now while I will keep decorum on this site, I must frame the conversation with what is obvious. Hey Chuck, you’re nothing but a two bit punk politician, and if you called my wife a bxxxx, you’d have a lot more to worry about than 60 votes on health care…

Dear Senator Lieberman,

While I opposed you when you ran as Al Gore’s Vice Presidential Candidate, I have come to admire your courage and conviction on a variety of issues, most notably the stand against your own party during your last election cycle. Your recent “independent” and thoughtful approach on issues such as Afghanistan and Health Care have given me hope that all is not lost in Washington. With this in mind I must ask that you continue to advocate for that which you know is right and please do not be swayed by anything the President might throw your way at any special White House sit down.

During these most uncertain times for our Country, “We the People” are desperately seeking an honest and trustworthy representative government. We see this in you and are hopeful that you may continue to be part of saving our Nation as opposed to leaving our children and grandchildren a hopeless shell of our great Republic.

Do not worry about the vote, for as you have proven beyond the shadow of a doubt, when you stand on the side of right, victory shall be yours.

John McCain of Arizona has stood up for the people once again on the floor of the Senate today. Admittedly, I have been critical of this War Hero Patriot and his middle of the road politics in the past, but he does right by “We the People” far more often than most on the hill.

McCain demanded that the President do as he promised on literally dozens of occasions while campaigning across America in 2008 and veto any spending bill loaded with pork barrel earmark spending. Well I guess the President enjoys his bacon, because this spending bill has more pork in it than a Paula Dean back yard barbecue episode on the Food Network, and he has indicated he will sign on the dotted line… (Sorry Paula, you know I absolutely love your cooking)…

Once again we are hoodwinked by this Chicago shyster and his spend happy minions on the hill. Keep watching my defeat the debt clock to the right people. Senator Gregg is correct. At this continued pace we will never be able to pay down the debt,,, ever!

P.S., for all you folks looking for work, the spending bill contained plenty of raises for federal employees. How’s them apples??

Against a backdrop of tall, shadowy firs, a rainbow trio of Christmas trees lights up the night (location unknown). There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge that won’t come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas? This week, I found out. From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember.

-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.

-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.

-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.

-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.

-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.

-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.

-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit–Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.

-The eight maid’s a-milking were the eight beatitudes.

-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit–Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.

-The ten lord’s a-leaping were the Ten Commandments.

-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.

-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles’ Creed.

So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol…so pass it on if you wish.’

Having grown up in Jewish neighborhood, I will always feel a connection, religious and otherwise, to the Jewish people. To one of my dearest friends Steven, and Jews around the world, blessings and strength this holiday…

Long ago in the land of Judea there was a Syrian king, Antiochus. The king ordered the Jewish people to reject their God, their religion, their customs and their beliefs and to worship the Greek gods. There were some who did as they were told, but many refused. One who refused was Judah Maccabee.

Judah and his four brothers formed an army and chose as their name the word “Maccabee”, which means hammer. After three years of fighting, the Maccabees were finally successful in driving the Syrians out of Israel and reclaimed the Temple in Jerusalem.

The Maccabees wanted to clean the building and to remove the hated Greek symbols and statues. On the 25th day of the month of Kislev, the job was finished and the temple was rededicated.

When Judah and his followers finished cleaning the temple, they wanted to light the eternal light, known as the N’er Tamid, which is present in every Jewish house of worship. Once lit, the oil lamp should never be extinguished.

Only a tiny jug of oil was found with only enough for a single day. The oil lamp was filled and lit. Then a miracle occurred as the tiny amount of oil stayed lit not for one day, but for eight days.

Jews celebrate Chanukah to mark the victory over the Syrians and the rededication of the Jerusalem Temple. The Festival of the Lights, Chanukah, lasts for eight days to commemorate the miracle of the oil. The word Chanukah means “rededication”.

In America, families celebrate Chanukah at home. They give and receive gifts, decorate the house, entertain friends and family, eat special foods, and light the holiday menorah.

Protectors of wicked clergy have no right to condemn Kennedy.

There is only one crime for which Jesus recommends the death penalty, and that is the abuse of children (“Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe to stumble, it would be better for him if, with a heavy millstone hung around his neck, he had been cast into the sea.” — Mark 9:42)

So the Catholic Church has covered up for and protected hundreds of wicked clergy. Does it then have the right to condemn Patrick Kennedy for an opinion? Making abortion illegal will no more stop it than prohibition stopped drinking.

My grandmother bled to death from an illegal abortion. She already had 13 children, and she was 38 years old. Had she had access to a real doctor, I might have known her, and my father might have had a mother.

Elizabeth Follansbee Warwick

Regarding the letter from “Elizabeth Follansbee” concerning Patrick Kennedy, maybe we should just abolish the Catholic Church, execute all the Clergy and be done with it. Listen, I am certainly not in the business of defending the Catholic Church, but the idea that you can somehow justify abortion, or Mr. Kennedy’s support of it as a Catholic, by rehashing the churches obvious and deplorable missteps in the child sexual abuse scandal, is “just a bit outside”.

Additionally, the Republic we share is one of laws and not individuals. To legislate by individual or personal experiences alone will never serve the civil society as it was intended by the Framers.

That said, I suspect that if you polled most of those opposed to abortion, you’d find that what they are truly opposed to, is our government / courts, sanctioning the practice by giving it the “blessing” of Constitutional protection.

While I am disgusted by it, I will not oppose your decision to seek an abortion from those who would perform one. But I do not feel the procedure deserves a Constitutional guarantee, nor do I wish to pay for it.

From Fox: “The analysis from nonpartisan economic experts at the Health and Human Services Department concludes that the nation’s health care tab will grow more rapidly under the Democratic plan senators are debating — an estimated increase of $234 billion over 10 years”.

This is on top of the $850 billion already slated for the plan. And now they want to piggyback the Medicare system, already in debt by trillions in government IOU’s, to back door a (public) / government option.

And there is more…. The polls are showing a number just shy of 60% of Americans are against the plan. Never in our Nation’s history have so many Americans stood opposed to a single piece of legislation. The Democrats are treading water miles from shore, and despite my stated opinions of their intentions over the years, I can’t help but be stunned at their arrogance in the face of such overwhelming disapproval. I equate their behavior to a blind bayonet charge into a machine gun nest ringed with the barbed wire of voter dissent.

My anticipation of this election cycle will be at fever pitch by the time it arrives… Heads are gonna roll…

On June 3rd Senator Judd Gregg got up on the Senate floor and gave what I consider to be one of the defining addresses summing up our present course of action in this Country. As usual, and because of the real and undeniable truths contained therein, it was summarily dismissed by all but Fox News, and went mostly uncovered. Funny how the main stream media picks and chooses what you see on the nightly BS session, but that’s a story unto itself and certainly for another day.

I am attaching this document in the hopes that you will take a few moments and read it. Suffice it to say, it is sobering. It speaks of our national debt in common sense terms and its ratio to our GDP. This is extremely important and deals with our national worth to creditors, competitors and trading partners alike, and is a reflection of our long term commitments here and abroad. It addresses how the debt affects all American families over the next 50 years, and how such gross financial and economic negligence on the part of those we send to Washington to represent us, will eventually lead to our downfall as a Country. We need only look back in history to see how many a world power has fallen from within as a result of financial imprudence. I like to call it “trickle down destruction”. As I listened to the President’s address in Oslo, I couldn’t help but be confused. I think it’s because initially he hailed American heroism in the face of unspeakable evil when facing down the likes of Hitler and his Fascist buddies. He even spoke of the current wars as an inevitable part of real as opposed to perceived peace, I think. But it is often hard to figure out what side of the road Mr. Obama is walking on. He eventually lost me again when he launched into one of his usual “soft apologies” for what he believes are the failings of the prior administration when dealing with Americas enemies.

Consequently, the response of the attendees at his Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony, when both Obama’s were on the stage, was typical and expected. Applause was apparent when he dissed his own country, but absent when he spoke of Americas rights to defend herself. This from the folks, who had it not been for the swimming pools of American blood spilled on the battle fields of Europe, would be flying the Nazi flag today.

Now the President may enjoy a brief, albeit a short uptick in the polls as he appeared to speak well of our Country while overseas for a change, but read between the lines and know without a doubt that his (one world order) philosophy remains intact. I know my detractors will say, “Oh you just refuse to cut the guy any slack”, and this is true. But what is also true, is that I have done my homework Folks, and you do not simply set aside a lifetime of self expressed adoration for the Marxist and Socialist viewpoints with one political speech designed to draw the attention of the world away from your failing economic policies at home.

Read his books… Learn about your President…

A “government option” by any other name is a government option just the same. In a time where the government spent almost 300 Billion, with a B, dollars more than it took in last quarter, and health care ranks under 20% on the American peoples “to do list”, WH Harry Reid continues to push forward with a revised trigger system government option that is simply the back door to a full blown government option down the road. Let’s see who signs on to this one.

“The Congressional Budget Office estimates that up to 10 million people could lose their employer-based insurance coverage under the Senate’s health care reform bill”.

All this while the President and his minions are arm twisting Congress on “cap and trade”, which would cost this Country millions of jobs and billions in new taxes while simultaneously crushing the small business community. Adding insult to injury, the Democrat “politicians” in Washington are intent on spending away our platinum credit rating around the world, and they are succeeding.

I am also closely watching Ben Nelson of Nebraska today, to see if he is true to his convictions after they shot down his abortion amendment last night.

The President of The United States continues to “pass the buck(s)”. As a matter of fact, with all the bucks he’s passed, he could have paid off the national debt in full by now.

It also seems painfully clear that he is unwilling to accept any culpability whatsoever for our current economic situation. I think it’s fair to say then, that it’s game on.

At the end of the day however, it will probably not be his policy failures, along with the fact that he has spent our great grandchildren’s money, that leads to his eventual defeat in a primary rematch with Secretary of State Clinton, but rather his arrogance and palpable disdain for our Country that will be his undoing. The American people are simply developing a dislike for this Presidents “holier than thou” attitude.

That’s right Folks, you heard me correctly. I’m making my prediction for 2012 here and now. I believe that Mrs. Clinton handily defeats the President in the Democratic Primary race. Unfortunately, with everything out there for blogging these days it is easy to sometimes forget the really important stuff. For all my talking yesterday about how imperative it is to remember, memorialize and teach our young folks about events like Pearl Harbor, I didn’t even put out a blog entry for the day.

Well shame on me for letting current events cloud my reason.

Having said that, the United States Military in all its forms is always in my heart and on my mind. The brave men and women who have laid down their lives and limbs for the idea of human freedom simply because it is right are the real heroes among us. It is this commitment to a cause greater than self that makes our military (and their families), unique in the world.

So while I suffered a little lapse in thinking yesterday, as a citizen of this great Country I remain indebted to the Brave Citizen Soldiers and Sailors of Pearl Harbor, Saipan, The Ardennes, Inchon, Ke Son, Belleau Wood, Trenton and every other battle that has, is and will be fought on my behalf.

God Bless the United States Military.

I always like to promote what I come across that inspires me, and the wonderful ladies drumming up support for billboards encouraging Merry Christmas tidings have definitely got it right. While the “holiday season” is often seen as a collective term, Christmas is without doubt, the center of the celebration. Now I will go so far as to say I do not begrudge those who wish to be “politically correct” in the doling out of their holiday spirit saying “happy holidays”, however I will expect nothing less than the same consideration when I or anyone else, including my young son at his elementary school, extends a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.

This is one of those subjects that beg my blunt analysis, though because of the forgiving and civilization changing power of the holiday itself, I will just say to the critics, “it is what it is” and you are powerless to change it.

So with this in mind, I encourage all of you who can to send a few bucks in the direction of the “Merry Christmas Billboard Ladies”. Hit the link below for their website and information, and of course: MERRY CHRISTMAS…!

I’ve been saying all along that a Democrat health care bill would be passed, even if they have to invoke the reconciliation (nuclear) option to get it. Now this does not mean that we stop screaming at the top of our lungs, NO!!

It does mean however, that it will be very clear in the end who perpetrated this nightmare on us, so we may know exactly where to direct our rage come election 2010. It is a sad day though I know, when we can look at Washington and say without hesitation that they have spit in our collective face and turned their back with arrogance to the will of the people.

So as we watch the back room “Chicago politics” play out in Washington, take note and stand ready to turn the page on these greedy, self serving liars.

I would like to recap a number of points that I hope evoke some outrage and prod you to call your Representatives in Washington to give them an earful.

1. Three Soldier heroes are being court-martialed for giving a ruthless, murderous, enemy combatant terrorist a fat lip. (Maybe the Commander In Chief ought to get this call so he might advocate for his Soldiers). Speak up and defend those who defend us!! This stuff is simply ridiculous.

2. The President travels to the Hill this week to “bring the battling factions together” on health care. He should be going and telling them to start from scratch…

3. Amidst all the hoopla over emails which appear to outline one of the greatest frauds ever perpetrated on citizens around the world, our own EPA is gearing up to declare carbon dioxide, a chemical compound that has existed naturally on a variety of different levels for ions, a “public danger”. These people are in panic mode Folks and will bring out the misinformation machine on full bore. Do not be fooled.

4. Unemployment is closer to 20% than they are telling you. Do the math, it’s easy.

Most of the year it is not unusual for me to be consumed by the fight, but as the hunting season passes and fall turns to winter, I start to think a lot about Christmas and what it means. It has always been a special time for me. I can still look at a Christmas tree all lit up and feel a sense of wonder in my heart, the same wonder I see in my sons eyes this time of year. It seems as though I pray a little harder every Christmas that I never let that feeling slip away.

So as this holiday season gets under way, I ask you to pray with me and remember our brave soldiers and their families as well as those in need, and help where you can. Below are some special words from a song performed by the Trans Siberian Orchestra that kind of sum it up for me. So stop shopping for a bit, watch the video, have a cup of coffee or eggnog and think about what the Christmas holiday is all about…

This night we pray, our lives will show,

this dream he had, each child still knows.

We are waiting, we have not forgotten…

on this very Christmas night…

A Christmas card for you…
