I have had the honor to wear a number of uniforms in service to my fellow citizens over the years, and it is partly that experience which has left me somewhat of a cynic when it comes to the next generation.

Thankfully, there are young Folks like my friend Keara who restore my faith when I need it most. She recently sent me something that speaks volumes about the commitment of those who “Protect and Serve”, holding the line on the streets of America every day…

From Keara:

Duty Calls

The lights are off, the door is locked

In this cold and desolate room,

The heater gives an empty sigh

Hoping its master will return soon.

In this room there is a desk

At which a man spends half his time,

Filled with piles of paperwork

Involving different crimes.

To where this man may be right now

You may ponder at a thought,

He has 24 new phone messages,

His car is not in the lot.

Is he relaxing at a beautiful beach somewhere,

Taking a comfortable nap in the sun?

Or is he at home with his family,

Playing board games and having fun?

Then in the distance you hear the sound

Of angry sirens wailing,

Whoosh! So quick the car goes by,

And another two are tailing!

The sound of screeching tires fill

The quiet country streets,

And all three cars pull over grandly

For They had their enemy beat.

At last after a hard day of work,

The tired car pulls in the driveway,

Of a cozy, delightful smelling home

Where two children exclaim “daddy!”

With a sigh of relief the man steps out,

And walks in to have some dinner,

He’d done his rightful job today:

He arrested another sinner.

Just as he gets settled and eats

Metal clanks and a fork falls,

The man grabs his keys, kisses his wife

And says “Sorry Hun, duty calls.”

I am an American first and foremost, born in this Country with loyalties to no other. That said, I do enjoy and partake of the many cultural aspects of my Irish and Italian ancestors. Please note the following for St Patrick’s Day sent to me by my wife.

Here is some interesting facts on St Patrick:

Little is known of Patrick’s early life, though it is known that he was born in Roman Britain in the fifth century, into a wealthy Romano-British family. His father and grandfather were deacons in the Church. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and taken captive to Ireland as a slave. It is believed he was held somewhere on the west coast of Ireland, possibly Mayo, but the exact location is unknown. According to his Confession, he was told by God in a dream to flee from captivity to the coast, where he would board a ship and return to Britain. Upon returning, he quickly joined the Church in Auxerre in Gaul and studied to be a priest. In 432, he again says that he was called back to Ireland, though as a bishop, to save the Irish, and indeed he was successful at this, focusing on converting royalty and aristocracy as well as the poor. Irish folklore tells that one of his teaching methods included using the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to the Irish people. After nearly thirty years of teaching and spreading God’s Word he died on 17 March, 461 AD, and was buried at Downpatrick, so tradition says. Although there were other more successful missions to Ireland from Rome, Patrick endured as the principal champion of Irish Christianity and is held in esteem in the Irish Church

Prayer for March 17: St. Patrick’s Day:

Almighty God, who in your providence chose your servant Patrick to be the

apostle of the Irish people, to bring those who were wandering in darkness and

error to the true light and knowledge of you: Grant us so to walk in that light,

that we may come at last to the light of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ

our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and

ever.

Amen.

Never in the history of the Republic has the “self-executing rule” been used for such a monumental piece of legislation that will affect 1/6 of the American economy. This rule action would essentially deem the Senate bill passed and allow those who support it to remain in the shadows.

“Restore integrity” to the Congress? Speaker Pelosi, you are now in charge of the most corrupt Congress in Congressional history. What you can’t do in the open, you will now screw “We the people” with behind the scenes. We knew the arm twisting would be in full swing; this you expect in Washington. But this is beyond despicable. Where is the up or down vote you claim to support??? Read the constitution you are sworn to uphold!!!

I am so looking forward to playing a role in changing this Congress… # 111 has been, and will be seen as a huge error and black mark on our national history.

Community Service…

We hear a lot of talk these days about community service. Politicians brag about it, and the media “defines” it for us every day. To me however, (and I suspect you all as well), the parameters of community service are much clearer and easier to see.

This past weekend, Rhode Island lost State Police Trooper Detective Sgt. James D. Dougherty to a motor vehicle accident on rural Route 3. Sgt. Dougherty, the son and husband of Troopers, was an accomplished and recognized Investigator for the RISP. But moreover, Colonel Brendan Doherty memorialized the 20 year veteran as a compassionate public servant who worked tirelessly for the betterment of his community and was revered for his sense of humor.

All too often we overlook the human side of these professionals and that which drives them to serve the greater good. We take for granted the young soldier who goes off to war in our stead, the 911 operator on the other end of the line, and the police officer or firefighter who responds to our calls for help. It seems that only at times like this do we remember that these folks could certainly have used their talents and education in the private sector to further their life’s ambitions, but instead chose to serve the people of their community.

So as we remember and mourn with the family of Sgt. Dougherty, lets please make an effort everyday to thank a Trooper, City Cop, Fireman, Soldier and all of our uniformed public servants when we pass them on the street. Let us also teach our children that these individuals are the true and definitive measure of community service.

Thank you Trooper Dougherty, and may God bless your family and the Rhode Island State Police in their time of sorrow.

“We’re happy to have the 2010 elections be about the achievement of health care reform. That’s a debate I think we’re obviously comfortable having,” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Well that about says it all folks. These people have shown their true ideological colors and are focused on ramming this one through. This is no longer about health care but rather a “battle for the soul of this Nation”. I know you all remember this phrase as I have used it many times in the past. Its the best way I can think of to convey the gravity of the November Elections. We must put what differences we have (Republican, Democrat or Independent) aside, that we might stave off this attempt to re-make our Constitution together.

Health care must be addressed, the budget must be balanced, the debt must be reduced, the terrorists must be defeated, and we will certainly battle over these and other issues soon enough. However, all this pales against the stunning arrogance of this Congress and this President and their collective ambition to fundamentally change this Country by misreading and ignoring those who sent them to Washington in the first place.

Remember Mr. Gibb’s comments above, and remember they have absolutely nothing to do with affordable health care for Americans, or the price of apples for that matter!! It’s all about BIG GOVERNMENT, and it always has been. Bring it on Bob!!

It has now come down to a bitter test of wills, and I’m still not prepared to predict the outcome. There a number of dynamics in play here, and it has been a “political junkies” dream to see them all play out.

House law makers like Stupak (D) Michigan, appear ready to stand on principal in defiance of other, shall we say “less principled” folks like Pelosi. This is refreshing to say the least. On the other hand there are the Wieners (no pun intended) (D) New York, who are all but in the shower room with Rohm Emanuel on this one.

I joke, but the sad truth here is that this legislation, if enacted, would be the single biggest economical and philosophical disaster the United States has ever known. Understand this well, the U.S. Congress is preparing to defy the overwhelming will of “We the people” in a manner unlike any time in our history. Never have so many stood clearly opposed to a bill and the proposals contained within it. Never has such an effort taken place to sway that opposition and yet failed so miserably. In spite of the Presidents alleged “star power”, or the media bias in his favor, in spite of the outright lies and misrepresentations which continue unabated, in spite of all the usual Liberal trickery and shell games, the American Public remains steadfast in their opposition, not only to the bill itself, but to the shameful manner in which it was conceived.

This may shock some of you, but part of me hopes that it passes.

It is my humble opinion that over the generations we have become complacent and allowed our “Representatives” far too much latitude when “representing” our interests in our Cities, States, and in Washington. The (political elite) have come to see us as sheep to be tended rather than the engine that must always drive their motives. We have strayed from our ideals and allowed ourselves to be lulled into a sense of security. We have been fooled and fooled again by the slick and packaged politicians whose only concerns are power and remaking our great Nation in the Euro model. Our children are being indoctrinated at our public schools and we are told every day that our exceptionalism is a handicap. Our leaders travel abroad and apologize to nations our Soldiers died to save from the clutches of totalitarianism in the great wars. The Country of my Father is difficult to recognize these days.

For these and a host of other reasons, I think we need to see with our own eyes the raw contempt our elected leaders now have for us as a result. In this one glaring legislative battle, all is laid out for us to except or to ignore. It is “We the People” who must acknowledge and then react to this culmination of generational contentment with the political status quo. This Country, that Capital Building, and the White House belong to us. It is high time we recognize this fact and turn back toward that which sets us apart from the rest of the world. Moreover, we must educate ourselves, understand, and then teach our children that the United States of America remains without a doubt, “the greatest arrangement for mankind under God”. Maybe the events of the next two weeks will nurture and solidify this growing awareness of critical issues we seem to be seeing, maybe a kind of “new revolution”, maybe…

In yet another sign of the perilous foreign policy journey this Administration has chosen for the Nation, the Blundering Biden Road Trip to the Middle East has been fraught with inexperience, snubs and downright ignorance.

The cooling of relations with the State of Israel is without a doubt the most troubling overseas issue we face. In a time when Islamofascist terrorists are public enemy #1, and a country like Iran is being run by the modern day version of Adolf Hitler, hell bent on finishing what the Nazis started, VP Joe Biden is blowing off PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s dinner invite, and posing under a picture of the murderer Yasser Arafat. I mean, does this buffoon have the first clue about what he’s doing, or have we placed our security in the hands of total incompetents?

It’s hard to make heads or tails out of this nightmare but one thing is for sure, if we abandon Israel under some veil of Middle East Obama style diplomatic “cooperation” that has not and will not ever truly come to pass, we will most assuredly pay a price here at home. Peace in that part of the world will only come through the strengthening of our alliance with the Jewish State, and the pursuing of the enemies of freedom and the murderers of the innocent to the ends of the earth.

From Fox Web: “To the extent the State of the Union has degenerated into a political pep rally, I’m not sure why we’re there,” said Roberts, a Republican nominee who joined the court in 2005.

To some of us who watched the SOTU address, the point where the President deviated from protocol and openly chided another branch of government on national television, drove to the heart of separation of powers and glaringly demonstrated either the overall lack of executive experience, and / or the blatant contempt this President has shown at times for our Republic and its Constitutional and operational structure. Frankly, I was waiting patiently for some response outside of the media focus which only lasted a day or two. I wanted to see if someone would go public with what that SOTU address really looked and sounded like to us watching at home. Apparently, it is Chief Justice Roberts who has stated the obvious.

Gone are the days when we could look to the SOTU for leadership and focus. Now we get a slap down and are told that if we do not agree, we are part of the problem. The “dumbing down” of our leadership in Washington and the acceptance of it politically, is starting to get a little embarrassing. The “one on one” persona the President portrays at times does nothing but diminish the office as well as his qualifications to occupy it. There is a certain professionalism we expect from our Presidents, an acknowledgment that he / she should possess the ability to communicate to the Congress and for that matter “We the People”, in tones that reflect their abilities and those things that set them apart as the leader of the free world. This is not the “elitism” I speak of with such disdain, but rather execution that projects some semblance of assurance that the best possible person is at the controls.

With all this in mind, it is becoming apparent that President Obama seems much more interested in an unruly college style debate, complete with banners, pom poms and a screaming concert crowd. Problem is, “We the People” need something more than a “community organizer” who ran what will eventually be regarded as one of the most effective, albeit deceptive Presidential Campaigns in American history.

There is a battle ongoing in Texas that speaks to an issue of grave importance. For all of our efforts to stave off the Socialist onslaught on health care, the economy and the like, all will be for not if we don’t tune in to the “revisionist” history crowd. You see, the Left has a plan and it is multi pronged. Moreover, they are patient and content to settle in for the long haul so they may realize their dream of the Social utopia.

It seems that as Texas goes, so goes the rest of the Nation in the area of our Children’s school text books, with regard to how and by whom they are written. There are powers at war over what these books contain, and it is alarming to note that “freelance writers” are being used in the process of writing them. Now I have a big enough problem with those recent products of our universities attempting to re-write history to better suit the ideology spoon fed them by their “60’s” era professors, who are re-living their protest days in the bubble environment of campus life, but now we are gonna have some dime store novelist add a few chapters to spice it up a bit as well. What, no more relying on those tried and true historians and historical authors.

What we need to be mindful of here Folks, is that we might as well stay home on Election Day if we fail to police this matter appropriately. All the energy and effort made to fight those who would sink our Country today, would be futile if our kids end up being indoctrinated to believe something other than the truth by way of the tools used to “educate” them tomorrow

So while I hesitate to pile on another task for you all, I must emphasize the need to read the link below and take appropriate action when needed in your home towns. Also, do not hesitate to call the folks down in Texas if the moment moves you. (Be very aware of what your children are learning at school, or for that matter, what their reading)…

With all the talk about health care, I’m feeling a little strung out on the subject. So I’ll go down an unfamiliar road tonight; “The Oscars”

Mind you it will be tuff, because truthfully I could give a (you know what) about the Oscars or who gets one. My disdain for most Hollywood elitists is trumped only by that which I harbor for the Islamofascist terrorists. This of course does not include Sandra Bullock…  That said, I have often been puzzled by some in that HW leftist crowd.

Let’s take Tom Hanks for instance. Aside from his mega superstar acting talent, Hanks has given us a number of “Greatest Generation Films” as I like to call them, like Saving Private Ryan, and the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers which chronicles the real life heroics of “Easy Company” during the European Campaign of WW II. In these films, Hanks teams up with legendary Director Steven Spielberg and brings us back in time with amazing accuracy and what would appear to be a great affinity for the sacrifice and courage of those who lived those events. Yet when we hear these men speak, their diatribe is dripping with disdain for anything that these brave souls were actually fighting for.

Now I know there are those who will say that Hanks appreciates and understands American Diversity of opinion and background, and for that reason he rightfully glorifies those who fought to defend that freedom. On this I would agree whole heartedly. However, when I hear Hanks coyly bash Fox News, jab at Bush / Cheney, and basically back door anything that is not of a particular side of the isle, it begs the question; does this clown really even get it??

Look, in a time when we should rightfully look to our ideals as well as the souls who gave all to defend them, it just seems out of sorts to me that a man who has derived so much from all that this Nation has to offer, would not be just a little more cognizant of the message he seeks to convey.

OK, heres my picks:

Sandra Bullock Best actress and Jeff Bridges best actor. There, I said it… No brainer…

The anchor person went on to say something to the effect that the article seemed to give President Obama the nod.

Alright, now I may have been a little distracted as my son did his best John Cena signature move on me while I was lounging on the couch, but you have got to be kidding!!! Barack Obama did everything but dress up like an insurgent and head over to the Al Anbar Province himself. It is nothing short of astounding that the Libs won’t even give Bush credit for the war they hated and hung around his neck over and over during the last 4 years of his Presidency. And you wonder why I pile on the left wing (main stream media)>>>

I am after all, trying my best to influence the argument. Very few make it to the top of the blog. This one did.

I do receive a number of comments on the title of the blog: “FOR PATRIOTS ONLY” and how it stands against the statement below it: “Your input is both Constitutionally protected and welcome”. They ask, “How can you limit by way of your title but then extend the welcome to all”?

The answer is simple and really gets to the core of what I believe. While I’m clearly a Conservative, this does not mean that someone who holds a different political philosophy can’t participate in the discussion and make their case. We are all “Patriots” who love and want to preserve our Country for the next generation, right?

Now this is where its gets a little hairy… My only prerequisite is that you pledge your (allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all), and that despite the fact that we may disagree on the political or philosophical approach to some of the issues of our day, you still acknowledge and respect the inherent and unprecedented good this Country has done all over the world since its “Declaration of Independence”.

Otherwise, I am a firm believer that the freedom door swings both ways, and if you should hold ill will toward the U.S. which may not be resolved through the usual channels of free speech and the like, do not let that door hit you on the way out…

Enough said.

As Democrats in Washington plan to govern against the will of the people regarding health care, we must watch the process very carefully. I say this because of the mounting evidence indicating their leadership is preparing to sink the entire Democratic Party for the next 20 years or so with this newly dubbed “simple majority” vote.

All things considered though, I am feeling a great sense of pride and patriotism as I look at some of the more detailed polling coming from all areas now, showing “We the Peoples” growing resentment of Pelosi and her elitist, co-conspirators on the Hill, not to mention their frustration having placed their “hope for change” in this ideological President.

I have always counted on the American People to cut through the main stream media smoke screen put up in defense of the liberal agenda, and it seems that faith has not been misplaced. There remain many challenges in the future such as what happens after a November political shake up, however it is heartening to see the Country focusing more each day on the core beliefs that have made, and will make us great again. Not Republican, not Democrat, but rather the ideals of a free Republic like no other in recorded history, and the likes of which should it cease to exist as we know it, would signal a dark period not unlike the 1930’s and 40’s when tyranny snuck into the minds of a complacent peoples.

Remember my fellow Americans; our uniqueness is a direct result of the fact that “we” control our collective successes and failures. Only through ignorance, complacency, or a combination of the two, shall the latter come to pass. Keep up the fight…

To hear her preach about what “We the People” need, is as unpalatable as some of the Japanese dishes on the original (Iron Chef) cable cooking show.

Don’t misunderstand; I put Pelosi in context considering both her background and geographical homestead. But I have to admit my blood reaches the critical scalding point every time I hear her voice. Her condescending and elitist overtones are obvious, and it has now reached a point in the debate where she has gone completely off the reservation. The numbers, the stories, the outright deception, and the urgency above all other things when it comes to health care, is indicative of a Kamikaze pilot on final approach.

I think Steny Hoyer better slip her a Mickey or something before she falls down and splits one of those collagen lips.

As a Firearms Instructor and staunch advocate for the Second Amendment, you will probably be surprised to learn that I rarely bring this issue to my blog. There are two reasons for this. Number one is that people are so emotionally charged by the debate, that they often move right passed the facts and make broad assumptions and uneducated decisions on Firearms as they are addressed within the “Bill of Rights”. Number two is that I don’t want to give my critics any “ammunition” in that I’m using the politics of the issue to promote my training business. (The truth is that business is very good these days… Thank you Mr. President. This is one instance where you truly have helped the economy, regardless of whether you intended to or not…)

Anyway, the Supreme Court will hear the Heller Case act II this week, and consensus seems to indicate that they will extend the guarantee our Founders intended for the Second Amendment to all 50 States. This is great news as it has been a long time coming. The numbers have never supported the anti gun movement, and “We the People” smartened up to this fact back in the 90’s.

Rather than beat this one into the ground however, I would simply say that those who don’t agree must at least acknowledge the following. While no violent death, by gunfire or otherwise is acceptable, and our focus should remain on crime prevention, criminal prosecution and punishment, the hard numbers, (not NRA numbers) but rather CDC, FBI, and BATFE numbers, continue to show violent crime coming down across the Country to its lowest numbers in the last 15 years. Additionally, in all 40 states where right to carry has been enacted; there has been a decrease in violent crime across the board, in some cases as much as 25%.

“Now thems just the cold hard facts”.

So my hope then for this week is simply that the Supreme Court acknowledges what we “Constitutionalists” have known all along: Americans, no matter the state in which they reside, are all afforded the right under the Second amendment to “keep and bear arms”.

There is much that can be said this weekend about the health care debate, and for that matter the much talked about “Health Care Summit”. Frankly, the Summit was mind numbing… Politics in our Country definitely seems to be turning a corner. I have always felt that the advent of the 24 hour news cycle would bring this turnabout and it is now coming to fruition. People are more engaged than at any time in our history. In many ways though, I have wondered about the advantages and disadvantages of this type of “overexposure” as some refer to it.

Now, one can always make the argument that to inhibit or handicap any media outlet is tantamount to censorship, and I would be quick to agree. That said, it is frustrating to see the incredible amount of misinformation out there, and even more incredibly the amount of folks that fall for it hook, line and sinker.

So after much inner struggle and debate I have come to the only conclusion that can be reached with any amount of reason. We must “DO OUR HOMEWORK ALL THE TIME, NO EXCEPTIONS”.

Don’t misunderstand, I know there will always be the (fringe) whose belief systems do not allow for common sense, truth or even reality, but those people are fewer than most understand. The truth is that folks just are not getting the right info in some cases…

With this in mind moving through the months ahead, please take your time and digest all the information out there and familiarize yourself with its origin and those responsible for it, simply put, (fact check) and fact check again. With all of the resources available today, it is easier than at any time before to make an informed and educated decision. Truth be told, at no time in recent memory has this type of effort been more important to you and I, and to the next Generation.

Epilogue:

So as we say farewell to another brave young Patriot at the Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island today, I ask that you do your Patriotic duty, and honor the memory of Marine PFC Coutu and all who have gone before him by cherishing your freedom and your vote. Hold them close and do not let anyone take them away with untruths or worse yet, label you as misinformed. So many have died to ensure our right to change what is wrong when we see the need, and at the very least debate that change. Exercise these rights with care and responsibility. Watching the events of this day, I am humbled by this awesome power we possess as American Citizens, and I feel a sense of urgency when it comes to bringing this message.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada: “It’s time to do something, and we’re going to do it.”

The Health Care Summit was a dud…

Well, as we have surmised all along, the time has come for the Democrats in Congress to launch their all out assault on “We the People”. Now while there is still much to do over the next nine months, let there be no mistaking that November must signal an end to this nightmare in Washington. It is up to all freedom loving “Patriots” to stand up together and take back what is rightfully ours.

All across the Country, we will send the message of Massachusetts, not one of partisanship, but rather of liberty, Constitutional awareness and a representative government responsible to “We the People”. When we speak, we expect that our elected officials will listen. And if they don’t, then they should expect to be replaced. There is no (politician union) that I am aware of, no (political hack CBA)?

All kidding aside Folks, we are at that crossroads I speak of so often, and it is time to get serious about the kind of Country we will inevitably leave to our Children. Enough is enough. Keep this fire burning and send a message loud and clear in the fall. You work for us, and don’t forget it!!

As I watch the debate on health care, one thing seems very clear. WH Harry Reid (D) Nevada is clearly finished. This guy represents everything that is wrong with our government today. He is an ignorant, (in every sense of the word), arrogant, out of touch and elitist politician. Every time this guy opens his yap, the good Folks in Nevada become more united in their opposition to his reelection.

This event seems to be nothing more than a show to help the Presidents plummeting poll numbers, but it may address the issue of “We the People” finally getting to see this bunch in action. Their demeanor and presentation are telling the story.

On the eve of the “big show” over health care, I continue to be in awe of this White House and how they will not let this go. And despite unprecedented disapproval, Democrats are planning a doomsday scenario with reconciliation. All the talk about “jobs, jobs, jobs”, yet it’s a full court press for health care. What gives? Simple, this is about re-making the Country, not what’s good for the Country…

Having really taken a hard look at all the evidence, I am more convinced than at any point previously, that this President will be happy with one term so long as he makes a socialist mark on the United States. Without question, his life, political career and policies could be the basis for a how too book on making a thriving Republic under law into a banana republic.

Truth be told, I had hoped he might have seen the greatness of the moment of his election and used that to make “good and notable history”. Instead, his background, education and belief system simply would not allow this. Barack Obama has governed from the fringe left and lost even the support of main stream Democrat and Independent voters, pushing us farther and farther toward economic ruin and beyond.

The silver lining here Folks is that you and I have done what many before us have done, used the power of our God given free will and speech to put on the brakes. The one constant remains our dissent which continues to make the Democrats in Congress crazy. We must continue to make our voices heard because it is working.

For tomorrow, this bill is dead Mr. President. We do not want it. If you force it on us, will we surely take it back at the ballot box in November, and then in 2012.

To the Republicans: Don’t screw this up. Get behind John Boehner (R) OH, and show solidarity for the American people. Make your intentions known for the cameras and don’t fall into the obvious traps that will be set for you tomorrow. Be proud and confident in what you believe, as every credible poll out there shows the American people believe it too.

Boy is this gonna be interesting.

The gentleman speaking for the Conservative point of view was arguing that we should be having a job summit, not a health care summit. He went on to say it was like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

If it were not for the truthfulness of that statement and the seriousness of the argument, I might have fallen off the couch laughing…

Afghan President Hamid Karzai wants there to be “0” casualties as a result of the conflict in his country. Well, there is an easy solution to this problem Sir. The maniacal, murdering Taliban despots can surrender to Coalition Forces and the fighting will stop, (war over). Until that time, there will be unavoidable civilian casualties. Having said this, in all of recorded history in time of war, there has never been a nation so dedicated to the prevention of “collateral damage” as the United States. Even as our enemies blow themselves up in shopping malls, specifically targeting as many innocents as possible, we are striving for smarter weapons and better technology to the point of losing a conflict rather than pushing for a quick and decisive victory.

We need only look back on history to the Second World War and see carpet bombing which laid entire cities wasted in Europe. Now to those USA bashers who will surely email me about “the bomb” we used in Japan, I can only say this: You must once again do your homework when you argue with me Folks. American War planners in WW II made far more selective target choices overall then our enemies, until it became inevitable that the war was dragging, resulting in even more death and destruction. Also, any military historian and / or tactician worth his salt would tell you, that had “the bomb” not been used over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the death toll on both sides resulting from an all out invasion of Main Land Japan would have been 10 times what it was..

Mr. Karzai is simply preaching to the wrong choir. He should be directing his anger at his own countryman, many of whom are enablers of the Taliban. Maybe he should sing some of the praises of the Coalition Forces so his own people would recognize and be inspired by their true intentions.

I do not want to see another innocent life lost. For this reason we must not hinder our troops in the field and allow them to finish their mission and come home…

Some Democrats at the National Governors Association’s meeting this weekend expressed just a little displeasure with the President. While making sure to remind Mr. Obama he should be tougher with Republicans, they also lamented the fact that the President must do something to address voter anxiety over jobs and the economy. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell was quoted as saying Obama and company’s policies and approach must be “better thought out”.

Realistically, it’s the message that stinks and that the people are fed up with, not the delivery. But having said that, when your own party is throwing jabs in your absence, that usually spells big trouble.

Didn’t the President just invite both sides to a conference of “bipartisanship” at the White House so they could work “together” and eliminate all that ugly “partisan bickering” over health care??

Make no mistake Folks, the battle continues and Democrats have no intention of letting this time pass them by. They will pass a bill. They may deal health care as we know it in this Country a severe blow, that will take succeeding Administrations years to repair, but they will do it…

What did I say at the onset of this legislative process? Reconciliation would be used… 51 is now the magic number… Sorry Scott…

Today President Obama and good old Joe Biden hit the road to try and sell us on the idea that the Stimulus package has done what it was supposed to, and how we now need a “jobs” bill (aka) Stimulus II. Now I don’t want to beat the dead horse over how the only jobs “created” are predominately government sector, or how we are spending at an unsustainable level, or how the Administration is buying GDP numbers from 2011 to support its 2010 projections, or how there has been wide spread waste and fraud in the application of Stimulus funds, or how the Obama White House is now claiming the CBO doesn’t know what they are talking about, or how VP Biden is calling Washington dysfunctional and throwing Pelosi under the bus at every stop, or how Senator Evan (By-By) Bayh (D) Indiana is going home to create small business jobs as he feels the Stimulus hasn’t created not even one,,,,

Sorry, it’s easy to get carried away with this stuff. It’s like being a stand up comic with an endless supply of material. You feel like you could stay on stage all night…

Anyway what really made me cough and laugh at the same time today, was when I read about how many of the spending projects associated with this “Stimulus” are now on the Obama chopping block in his latest budget. He now means to cut many of the projects he used your grandchildren’s money to pay for. This is stuff novelists can’t even think up, because it’s so unbelievable.

Seriously Folks, these people clearly have their heads in the sand, or maybe this really is part of their grand scheme. Whatever the case, prepare for more deficit spending, huge tax increases at all income levels and please take appropriate action and prepare. The worst has not yet come. Stay focused and do what you must to weather any economic storm. With luck, we can reverse course in November and begin the long road back to Constitutional adherence and prosperity.

Rules of engagement…

There is much to blog about, but one thing stands out for me tonight, and with good reason. While doing my usual print and cable prep, I came across a story concerning rules of engagement for our troops in Afghanistan. Now I’m gonna say this plain and simple. This is not the 1960’s/70’s. The 24 hour news cycle will educate the folk’s right quick. America and the parents of her children in harm’s way will join to speak with a voice not heard since the greatest generation.

The United States must never again lose its way or forget its reasons for going to war in the first place. Moreover, the hands of its Soldiers must never ever be tied with the restraints of some twisted “world political correctness”. War, while never to be entered into lightly, is ultimately about killing people and braking things. When the job of the United States Soldier is completed, then we bring them home to their families with our eternal gratitude for their enormous sacrifice.

So here is the message to the Washington politicians who would fight this war from an ideological arm chair:

“Hands off dumb asses”! Let the United States Military do its job so you may sleep in peace tonight!!

There is only one way to end a war quickly and with the least amount of bloodshed on both sides, and that is to win it quickly and decisively so we may then move to a just peace.

Real heroes…

While there are those who will forever continue their assault to tear down our Founders by re-writing the history books, the rest of us will do our homework and know the truth. I have had many a (discussion) with supposedly “learned” folks about the Founding Fathers, specifically the likes of Washington, Adams and Jefferson, and it amazes me that they are always so laser focused on the faults of these men rather than their attributes.

Now I am not so “hero worship oriented” to suggest that these or any men are without fault. However, when you read and study these patriots, you must read the letters and papers (of the day) to include their personal works, so you may truly understand their motivations.

I cannot tell you how many “History” Channel documentaries I have watched which suggest George Washington’s ambitions of fame and fortune as the reasons “he married a rich widow”, or the ones that imply a “darker” more “sinister” side of him as he used espionage to fool his enemies during the Revolutionary War. Really, has victory become so foreign a concept to our great Nation that anyone would make such a ridiculous statement?

This is what I mean by revisionist. One only has to read the personal papers of the man himself, (available at just about any library) to understand his deep love and devotion to Martha Custis and how it came to be. In doing so, you might also learn how important and vital a role she played in supporting the General. If you seek more, then you might read on about how he was sick with dread about the loss of so many “brave young souls” who remained with him outside Trenton when they might have deserted or let their enlistments run out and gone home. So tortured by the condition of his rag tag Army, and his own missteps was the first Commander in Chief, that he resigned himself to victory at all costs and by all means necessary, to justify the enormous sacrifices to that point, made for a cause more near and dear to his heart than most folks realize even today. You might also read of his thoughts on slavery and other issues that haunted him as they related to the cause of freedom for all, and the Revolution raging to bring it about.

My point here is that this was an extraordinary man living in extraordinary times. The idea that some snot nose, left wing ideologue “historian” would even attempt to (reinvent) Washington or any of his day is laughable at best.

So on this Presidents Day 2010, and as we struggle with what seems to be an America reawakening to her roots, I ask only that you take some of what you read and hear with a grain of salt and put it to the test. Do your own research and you will find that it does not take much time or effort to get to the truth, while simultaneously debunking the revisionist’s attempts to manipulate it.

The Presidency of the United States is like no other leadership position in the world. It combines a responsibility to all free people around the world with the accountability to “We the People” here at home. Men like Presidents Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Lincoln, Kennedy, Reagan and yes Obama to name a few of the notables, are men unique of their times. To asses them or their Presidencies on assumption, and without a thorough examination of who they are, where they came from, what was in their hearts and how it was influenced by the time in which they lived, is merely an attempt to make them into what you want, and does a great injustice to our legacy.

Happy Presidents Day, now do your homework…

I’m not sure how he arrived at his decision to leave the political arena, but I find myself wanting to say thank you to Patrick Kennedy. The people of District # 1 Rhode Island may now have the representation they deserve. This is not to impugn Mr. Kennedy or his efforts, though our political views are football fields apart, but rather to reinforce what I have been saying all along. Patrick Kennedy’s personal trials have affected, and would continue to affect his ability to appropriately represent his constituency, and I think he may have finally realized this fact. Say what you will, but the stresses of what was sure to be a bruising re-election campaign on the heels of the loss in Massachusetts, would certainly have taken their toll on him.

Like any job you or I would apply for, there are requirements and/or standards that must be met. In the case of the United States Congress at this moment in history, there is simply too much in play and at risk to be wondering when Mr. Kennedy would suffer another episode that might influence his decision making process or ability.

Personally, I wish him the best in his ongoing battles and I would encourage him to seek the help of his family, friends and or his church moving forward. That said, it is now time for someone else to step in and do the business of the people of District # 1, as well as play a role in what will certainly be a very consequential next couple of years in United States politics.

OMG!! This is the simple but fundamental difference between the ideologies.

Please pay attention Ms. Romer and all Socialist protégés:

TAX CUTS DON’T CREATE DEBT, SPENDING DOES!!

Tax cuts help an economy such as ours, rooted in the individual success of “We the People”, by promoting the growth of small businesses, entrepreneurism and simply allowing us to keep and spend more of our own money. (Good economics)

If it is truly your intention to bring down this Nations now enormous debt, then stop feeding the bloated pig that is the Federal Government, which has grown far beyond anything the Founders could have or would have imagined. Oh and please work to reduce the “entitlement state” that is driving it!! (Bad economics)

John Brennan, Special Assistant to the President on Counterterrorism, knows not what he does and must be fired, and AG Eric Holder should be reigned in by this President post haste. Additionally, the NY City Police Department has released a cache of photos under the (freedom of information act) which remind us of the terrible cost of ignoring and/or underestimating our enemies. Now I know there are some who may say that we must not dredge up these horrible memories, but I disagree. More important than the “cheat notes” on Sarah Palin’s hand, was the interview with President Obama where he discussed what he sees as the problems with small businesses hiring new employees. You heard right Folks. While Robert Gibbs wasted the presses time mocking the former Alaska Governor’s means by which she remembered some points in her speech the other night to the Tea Party Convention, the President showed us how little he truly knows about the free market economy and small business. The Country’s CEO stumbled and stuttered when pressed about the availability of loans to small business so they could expand their services and production which might then spur new hiring.

President Obama stunned the business community when he suggested that small business owners were making profits and were able to get the loans they needed to “make payroll”, demonstrating his complete lack of the slightest understanding of what it means to even make a payroll.

As I referenced with AG Holder’s approach to National Security being a dangerous (university style experiment) at the expense of our collective safety, so too is this Presidents total lack of executive experience a dangerous (university style experiment) at the expense of our collective wallets…

Can it Gibbs. We don’t want to hear you pummeling Palin anymore. We would really like to know though, what the heck is the President’s Teleprompter is talking about…
