In Sicily, where St. Joseph is regarded by many as their Patron Saint, and many Italian-American communities, thanks are given to St. Joseph (“San Giuseppe” in Italian) for preventing a famine in Sicily during the Middle Ages. According to legend, there was a severe drought at the time, and the people prayed for their patron saint to bring them rain. They promised that if he answered their prayers, they would prepare a large feast to honor him. The rain did come, and the people of Sicily prepared a large banquet for their patron saint. The fava bean was the crop which saved the population from starvation, and is a traditional part of St. Joseph’s Day altars and traditions. Giving food to the needy is a St. Joseph’s Day custom. In some communities it is traditional to wear red clothing and eat a Sicilian pastry known as a zeppola on St. Joseph’s Day.
Upon a typical St. Joseph’s Day altar, people place flowers, limes, candles, wine, fava beans, specially prepared cakes, breads, and cookies (as well as other meatless dishes), and zeppole. Foods are traditionally served containing bread crumbs to represent saw dust since St. Joseph was a carpenter. Because the feast occurs during Lent, traditionally no meat was allowed on the celebration table. The altar usually has three tiers, to represent the trinity.
Some villages like Belmonte Mezzagno use to burn wood and logs in squares on the day before St.Joseph, as thanksgiving to the Saint. This is called “‘A Vampa di San Giuseppe”(the Saint Joseph’s bonfire).

There was a noticeable down tick in new applications for jobless benefits, and the housing market got a boost today as well. OK, forgive me for being sarcastic, and I certainly don’t want to be the party crasher, but the jobless numbers still do not include the thousands who have exhausted their benefits and are no longer looking for work, but rather preparing to lose it all. Oh, and has anyone noticed the up tick in food and clothing prices as inflation begins to show itself? Oh, and has anyone filled up their tank lately? Oh, has anyone read the latest stats on foreclosures. Oh, have you checked the “national debt meter”?
Note to Liberal Loons: I simply refuse to be labeled an “Obama Basher” when pointing out the obvious signs of this fragile, volatile, debt laden, and unstable mess this President is calling “the fastest recession recovery in history”.
Do not run from the truth. There be nought so hard to live with as a lie.

The Presidents simplistic and “tongue and cheek” approach to financial reform in NY today, as well as his characterization of the trepidation felt by the bankers of the 30′s over the implementation of the FDIC back in that day as somehow comparable to the economic policy nightmares of “Obamanomics”, is nothing short of ridiculous.
As I and many have suggested, reform is necessary and essential, but must be implemented carefully, and the notion that this President and this Administration should “lecture” Wall Street (or a lemonade stand for that matter), on spending, salaries and bailouts, is just plain laughable.
They had better get this right from a bipartisan and well thought out standpoint or they risk handicapping our financial system and overall economy, at a time when it is least able to “afford” it…

So the President drops a line to Scott Brown (R) MA, from AF-1, looking for support on immigration reform.
Well, Senator Brown and Lindsey Graham (R) SC, would both do well to remember that while MA, VA, and NJ were certainly influenced by the health care debate, there was and remains a much broader and growing dissatisfaction with the overall direction of the Nation, and immigration reform is as hot a topic as any in that regard.
They should also note that “We the People” are awake, paying attention, and will react at the voting booth this Fall if we perceive our elected officials to be so enamored with something as simple as a Blackberry phone call from the POTUS, that they might misread and subsequently misrepresent our hopes and dreams for this Republic.
My suggestion to the Senator from MA for an automated phone response to the Presidents call would go something like this:
Thank you for calling Sir. I look forward to working with yourself and the Congress on addressing the issue of “illegal immigration” and its wide ranging effects on our Country, the economy and our cultural diversity. I also look forward to enacting appropriate legislation that will strengthen our borders and promote our values to any person who shares them and our Constitutional approach to freedom, oh and who wishes to enter the Country legally and work as prior generations have to lawfully become a U.S. Citizen.
Finally Mr. President, I am hopeful that you will acknowledge and honor (the many who have come here legally and who are working diligently within the system to become citizens), by not legalizing those who haven’t. Have a nice day. See you and Rom at the gym…

The weather is changing and it’s time to start teaching again. It is at these times, I am most comfortable. It is more than just my love of the outdoors and shooting sports. It’s the feeling of freedom and security that comes from knowing that, unlike any other Nation on earth, “We the People” control our own destiny. Well, at least from the standpoint that our Republic and the Constitution that governs it, acknowledges our God given right to defend ourselves. History tells us that anything short of this is to be subjects and not citizens.

With “Slick Willy” out there crying about the “Tea Party” folks, and the current President’s attack machine in high gear, one thing seems pretty certain, the “lefty’s” are “a runnin scared”. I must say though, I couldn’t take Clinton seriously when he was President. Now all I see is an “ex” looking for some spotlight. Hey Bill, like it or not, every time someone see’s you on the tube or in print, they’re gonna think of a rather portly young lady in a stained blue dress marketing a used cigar on EBay… Please….
As I see it, there are two issues in play here. Firstly, regardless of the fact that there will always be fringe kooks on both sides of any argument, the notion that a citizen of this Country’s Constitutionally guaranteed rights of civil dissent and protest are now being demonized and portrayed as somehow extremist, is simply un-American. Secondly, and as I have pointed out time and again, the left wing nut jobs and their willing conspirators in the “drive by media”, wrote the book on hate speech, fear mongering, misrepresentation, and the politics of personal destruction. The world wide Liberal Progressive Movement has been responsible for more bloodshed and mayhem than all of the other political movements combined.
I have a flash for Bill Clinton, and anyone stupid enough to buy into his malarkey, the left wing blogosphere makes the right look like a Sunday school operation. These people are some of the most hateful, dishonest and scheming folks I have ever observed and/or come in contact with, as evidenced by the recent dust up over the “Tea Party” infiltrators.
So if you happen to see the graying former President in your travels, ask him to kindly read up on his Constitution and knock it off…

As the fanatic Mahmoud Ahmadinejad displays his growing military strength at the annual (army parade) in Tehran, stating publicly: “our armed forces have so much power that no enemy will harbor evil thoughts about laying its hands on Iranian territory.”, we now learn that Defense Secretary Gates has put the WH on notice via memo, that the Administration appears to lack a coherent plan to deal with the threat of Iranian nuclear weapons. Once again, we must question the thought process of this bunch as they appear to favor diminishing our own military capabilities around the globe, while we are surely facing the greatest threat to world peace in the last 40 or so years.
So as we look at the big picture, I guess the economy really doesn’t mean a whole lot, as the President and his “team” intend to get us all killed long before it makes a difference anyhow…

Next up “financial regulatory reform” —- Come on, you knew this was coming… The all out assault on Capitalism in America is on. The new bill passed in the house already, would give the federal government broad and sweeping power to close the door on any “institution” they see as a threat, and for any reason no less. Never in our history has there been such a monumental effort to bring the free market to its knees with massive government oversight.
Now I’m sure there is no one who expects there to be an absolute hands off policy when dealing with (Wall Street), especially considering recent events, but the mere appearance of success and or profit, no matter the amounts involved, should never, ever be the reason for targeting enterprise of any size in a system such as ours. And to propose, as Treasury Secretary and tax cheat Timothy Geithner has, that debate be replaced with a simple campaign to discredit those thought to be the problem with the intention to bring them under the government thumb, is a road filled with gigantic Constitutional as well as economic pot holes. This type of unchecked restriction and regulation (with NO Judicial oversight I might add), always stifles the entrepreneurial spirit and forces any economy to check up.
When we look at our history, it is plain to see. A good part of our global strength and success has been derived from our economic prowess. When combined with the natural human spirit of competition and God given individualism, the economic advantages of the American free market economy will check every other system out there every time. (The discussion of how that economy is changing for the worse in the world is a topic for another day).
Ah, but this is the problem. Individual success flies in the face of the Socialist operational pamphlet. We must all be the same. Exceptionalism, achievement and gain through education, hard work and the competitive spirit must be taken down and replaced with a “one world order” where no one person’s success should over shadow the collective good of all. “Man, this stuff smacks of the Marxist manifesto, and that which Barack Obama the student, immersed himself in throughout his educational experience”.
Again, a Republic under law does have a responsibility to protect its people militarily, and in some fashion maybe even economically, from the “wolves” that would lie, cheat or steal to achieve their success. That said, this is always better served by allowing the States limited oversight, as is their right under the Constitution, to keep companies within the law, and by allowing the system and its participants to “police themselves” as they should, (and fail).
I think this type of discussion (debate) would be productive, and any solution coming from it would favor “We the people”. But again, as with health care, it is not so much about what is good for America, but rather how much of this agenda can we put in play as part of our bigger intention to change the U.S.A into France… Fact: every time the governments of the world have attempted to “regulate wealth” those nations have been doomed to failure, chaos and dictatorship over time. Heck, just look South…

Real number unemployment at above 16%, “underemployment” at 20.3%, mortgage foreclosure rates at the highest level in five years and climbing, 865,000 layoffs projected at the Fortune 500 level, 33 states can’t meet unemployment benefits claims, inflation peeking around the corner that will stifle any “consumer ghost spending numbers”, small businesses can’t get credit, my grandchildren are in debt and not even born yet and so on, and so on,,,, and I forget to thank you Mr. President for the average $12 – $14.00 tax break in my paycheck that you will take back 3 fold with your new “health care law” and boat loads of additional deficit spending that will require massive tax increases to fund over the next 5 years and beyond.
You know, the growing arrogance of this Chicago upstart is really starting to irritate me. The campaign pretence that he was ever qualified to be President in the first place is ringing in my head like a church bell… Those “Tea Party” folks have your number Mr. Obama. Chuckle now, but I can’t wait to see the photo shots of your face on November election eve when an enlightened electorate says NO YOU DON’T!!

How U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb or any other Judge may so twist the “establishment clause” of the First Amendment to somehow call a national day of prayer unconstitutional is beyond comprehension. Now I’m no legal scholar, nor do I have any desire to besmirch myself with such a title, but one only need read the text to understand very simply; the meaning is generic you fool!
While acknowledging that religious reflection was and is paramount to a Nation so founded in sacrifice and blood as ours, the Framers were also “freedom minded” enough to (word in) that it would not reference any specific religion. The day of prayer is not a law. It is simply a proclamation by a politician which reserves a day on paper to reflect on something, based on generations of the American experience. The Socialist operative simply can not function unless he/she has a boogyman. In this case, it is every God fearing human being!!!
This is exactly the kind of revisionist, social re-engineering thing I’ve been talking about. These activist Judges use the disguise of “Law”, and hide behind their judicial robes while they slowly re-write the founders intentions. It’s a complete disgrace.

The message from the left continues to be, “America is the problem”, and we will do anything we must to be accepted in the world, a strange message coming from the Nation that has been the solution to so many of the world’s ills for so long.
So let me ask you this Sir, when the next world crises arrives, and we all know it will happen eventually, a crises for the ages requiring an “exceptional” people to do “exceptional” things while making “exceptional” sacrifices, who shall we ask to step up?? The up and down polls in Pennsylvania and the win for Deutch in Florida’s District 19 tell us a couple of things. First off, regardless of the new health care law, true Liberals (like the ones in District 19) will vote for the next Socialist in line no matter who is running, hence the victory for Deutch. Second, PA voter’s confusion and indecision as is reflected in the recent Toomey/Specter Polls show that the message of change must be crystal clear, and also that reminding the voters just who a guy like Specter really is, based on his record and spineless party swapping to hold on to the “seat of power”, is the key to victory.
Simply running as the Anti-Obama candidate will not suffice. This is clearly a pivotal moment in political history and the Conservatives better stick together and “be on message” with voters as tuned in as they are right now.

As was expected, organizations like “crash the tea party” are trying to discredit the movement by any means necessary including infiltrating and portraying the party in the most negative way possible. The associated web site directs its followers to wear Nazi swastikas and shout racial and homophobic obscenities whenever the cameras are rolling.
This makes sense though, because the real “Tea Party” folks pick up their own trash after a rally and do nothing but voice their opinions as is their right under the Constitution. There is simply no other way to besmirch these folks except but to lie and attempt to deceive “We the People” as to their true intentions. This is the left. These are the real Nazi’s, the real threat to our Republic under law, the real Socialists, and they must be exposed. When I see these malcontents in action, and hear their propaganda marching orders to their George Soros followers, I am keenly aware of the fight we face.
Our plan must include as a primary objective, exposing the “party crashers” at every turn. Kudos to Michele Malkin for being up on the wheel with this one. Don’t be fooled people. Get the facts and let no one dissuade you from the call to action. The first Amendment does not just apply to the left…

There is much debate these days about who our real enemies are and in what posture we should confront them. I personally like to look at this subject through a broader lens, but in different parts. The argument over the doctrine of preemptive action to stave off future confrontation or worse is a valid and complicated one, and I too can be influenced by both sides in that regard. However, I am always more greatly influenced by the enemy himself, for when I look close at him, analyze him, analyze his nationalism, religion and humanity, weigh the pros and cons of battle with him and ponder how the results will affect our children’s world, I am often left with a sense of dread, in that I find myself asking: “how then do we deal with this sort”?

President Obama’s “jobs bill” is dead in the water. Basically even the ranking Democrats on the Finance Committee are balking at using left over bank bailout money to fund it, as this will only add to the already staggering 12.8 trillion dollar debt.
This is all going to fall apart and “We the People” are going to get burned as usual. The credit cards are maxed out, our national (credit rating) is falling faster than the Presidents Job approval numbers, and the folks are just not buying the bill of goods Obama’s selling. Maybe it’s time to change direction Mr. President?? I think not, just more collateral damage. This President will push on with his agenda at all costs and the jobless numbers will bear this out…

In an unprecedented move, the President “scooted out” to catch his daughters soccer game yesterday. Now while this may sound innocent enough, he left the press core behind and was basically unaccounted for during that time period. How secure do you feel? This is not a managers job at Target Mr. President. “We the People” expect a certain level of acceptance on your part that you understand the position to which you have been elected. POTUS should never be unaccounted for!

The Miracle was not to be. The bodies of the four who were unaccounted for since the blast at Massey Energy Coal Mine in West VA on Monday have been found, bringing the final death toll to 29. As we pause to join in prayer for the families of those lost, it is important to note the many unsung heroes who brave places like that mine to bring home a paycheck as well as bring us our energy. These folks live with danger every day and shoulder fear with a curious grace and acceptance I can only marvel at.
I have, and always will be a supporter of the extraction of our own plentiful natural resources here in the United States as a means to reduce our dependency on foreign petroleum, but at this heart wrenching time I implore the owners of these energy companies to heed the warnings of the very people that descend into these dark and dangerous places 24/7, and make them as safe and technologically advanced as is within their power to do so, for if we truly desire energy independence, we will no doubt be relying on these selfless minors for many generations to come.
God Bless the families of the Big Branch 29. May he comfort and guide you through this most difficult time.

The President has consistently put forward court and positional nominees with controversial pasts as well as heavy political and personal baggage. Some have even gotten away with shoddy excuses regarding the payment of their personal and business taxes (a luxury you or I could never enjoy) and gone on to hold prominent positions in the Obama government.
So I ask you, what makes anyone think for a minute that an Obama nomination to the highest court in the land will not come with something(s) to talk about whether it’s personal issues or controversial court opinions. It is a foregone conclusion. These are his friends, colleague’s and associates, the people in whom he places all of his aspirations for “change”.
On its face, one could say that one Lib washes the other, but in reality, Justice Stevens’ replacement will transcend at least a generation, and the decisions he/she plays a role in will inevitably reverberate far beyond the current configuration of the Supreme Court.
So get ready for a real strong pitch from the left on this one Folks, as they go after what is their prize beyond our children, control of the “High Court”.
Kagan and Wood are two potentials, one only slightly more moderate than the other, but both well out in “left” field…

Couple of “mobile” observations. It is entertaining to watch and listen to the drive-by media throw out Sarah Palin quotes like (down the middle fast balls), so the President can look poised and comfortable in his response to them. Just when you think the love fest is over…
Anyway, of Obama’s comments I can only say they sound rather ironic considering his own extraordinary lack of experience. And the fact that his “yes man” Gates, as well as the Joint Chiefs who will write books in the years after Obama, about how in hind site, this was a real bone head move from a defense standpoint, have signed on to this debacle, is ridiculous, albeit a typical political retort. At the end of the day it comes down to this, an inexperienced and naive “Progressive one world order President” of these United States has compromised the safety and security of this great nation.

Revisionist history, it means different things to different people. To the Progressives who seek to re-make our Country and change reality to better suit what it is they want our children to know of our beginnings, it is doctrine. To those of us who read and understand the true and written history as documented by the very individuals who were at its epicenter, it is a scourge that must be stopped and reversed before this “greatest arrangement for mankind under God” is no more.
Actually it’s quite astounding the amount of information and facts surrounding the founding of this Nation that are out there for the taking, undeniable history that is literally a blue print for our “construction” as a sovereign power. Religion, freedom, states’ rights, and a myriad of evidence that the left would just as soon your kids never see, is staring at us through computer monitors at every turn. You see, as I’ve said many times, they will know only what we teach them. This is why the greatest and most important battle that we will fight in the next few years, is that for the souls of our children, for they are the linchpin of the Revisionist plan.This is war without a doubt people, and we must proceed accordingly.
Notably, the Founders were a unique and special group who mutually pledged their lives, their fortunes and sacred honor to the notion of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as God given, and it cost many of them those very things and more. The story of their sacrifice and vision should be no more absent from the classroom than pencils, paper and the United States Flag. A true and accurate telling of that critical time period should be the root of any and all that we teach in our public as well as our private schools. As for those who would twist, misrepresent, and/or manipulate that truth to reflect their own ideology and agenda, they must be run out of every classroom in America, post haste.
To this end, a good place to start is in the home. Interact with your kids. Teach them and learn together, but for God sake put aside any accumulated dysfunction and selfish allegiance to a wasted generation, and secure your young ones future. Anything less would be an abominable waste of one of Gods greatest gifts to humanity. David Barton has written an amazing book, and as hard as the left wing Socialist nut jobs try and paint him into the corner of “religious zealot” and/or “activist”, his factual accounts, documentation and overall presentation of many of the original papers and writings of the Revolutionary period, is magnificent and unchallengeable. From the mischaracterization of Washington as a “Jesus doubter”, to the visual effect of seeing President Jefferson’s signature following “In the year of our Lord Christ” on all of his Presidential decrees, it is a journey every U.S. Citizen should take. The book is “Original Intent” and is available through Amazon for around a $20.00 bill, a small price to pay for such valuable insight.
Listen Folks, with every action this President takes, and every manner in which he tries mightily to disguise/defend those actions, it is clearer, we have come to that crossroads in America some 234 years in. The question is what say you now?

Is it any wonder that as the world around us is thirsting for strength and leadership akin to the days when the United States was looked too for such things, and at a time when our enemies are looking for any signs of weakness, that this President continues to adopt a policy of weakness and submission? His meek approach and diplomatic overtures have been soundly rebuffed by the International Community, and laughed at by the murderers. He has bowed and bowed again in an effort to drown out America’s exceptionalism and sacrifice, and now he has begun the process of dismantling the very defense that has ensured our place of action in the world.
Every time I think that three more years of this radical President is not such a long time, I am reminded just how much damage he can do in that period. Much like the Reagan repair job of the early 80’s, and the rebuilding of America’s Military after four years of a failed Liberal President, the next “CIC” will no doubt have his/her work cut out for them. Sadly, I think it will be much more difficult this time and I question our great Nations ability to fully recover from the Obama years within a generation. We have elected an unskilled idealog to the White house and he is clearly intent on remaking the U.S. in the mold of his Socialist hero’s. It is sad to be a witness to this history in the making…

The only thing you may have to write on your hand is “would ya like fries with that?”come January 2011. Truthfully, what is more disturbing about the whole Reid / Palin dust up is the contempt that this man continues to show for the opposition, or for that matter, anyone who wishes to engage in a legitimate debate of the issues.
WH Harry Reid is an entrenched, condescending, elitist, old fool, and exactly the type of Washington insider that must go in November. Come on Nevada, we are all counting on you to lead the way…

Well what do you know??? 51% of the Tea Party People are either “Independent or Democrat” So I guess when idiots like Congressman Steve Cohen (D) TN, label the movement as racist, homophobic and every other vile description, he must be talking about some in his own party. This is the corrupt media aiding and abetting the left so they can smear anyone who disagrees with this President.The good news is the numbers show “We the People” aren’t buying it.
All through the last Presidential Campaign, I pontificated about elections having consequences in an effort to wake up those independents and a few others before they were run over by the “Obama” Express… When he was eventually elected, I pontificated some more about my doubts as to whether or not you all would see this nightmare for what it is and fight it.
Well, I am happy to report that I can see the tide turning. I see Americans of all races, creeds and political persuasions doing the “double take” on all of this Socialist crap. I see “We the people” calling out the elitist media and changing the channel. I hear every day from more and more folks out there: “Boy was this a mistake”, and “this is not the hope and change I voted for”.
So as the left continues to try and paint you into a corner, while comparing your honest and Constitutionally guaranteed dissent to that of a disgruntled segregationist 60′s mob, you should know that they are failing, as is this Administration’s efforts to lull you to sleep while they destroy your Country.
Keep it up… You are making a difference. A difference that the history books will eventually show was a necessary action that saved the United States from radical forces bent on re-writing our Constitution and changing that which has made us the greatest Country on earth.

Analysts were predicting as many as 250,000 to 300,000 jobs created for the month of March, but where hit with reality Friday when the real numbers could not even make the conservative estimate of 200,000 coming in at 162,000. Now before you Lefties go nuts and tell me “well that’s better than nothing”, or “we’re on the upswing”, let me remind you, most of the job “growth” continues to be in the Government sector and not the private. Moreover, they have hired 46,000 new census workers in March with more coming in April. So what does that do to the numbers??
Look, this economy is sputtering at best. We have stimulus money out there barely accomplishing the patchwork they now claim it was intended for. Businesses are downsizing and hunkering down for a longer and even a possible “double dip recession”. Health Care is being shown for what it really is, a government takeover of 1/6 of our economy, with long term costs that are simply unsustainable. Our triple “A” bond rating is being shredded by our ever skyrocketing debt, and all the while we are being told, “hang in there, it’s gonna be a while”… Huh??
Jobs, jobs jobs… Was this not the rallying cry coming from the White House and the Hill just before the great health care debacle. Sorry folks, that was just a distraction.
So as we all struggle to survive “Obamanomics”, the President’s approval ratings continue their downward spiral, despite his best efforts to sell Socialized medicine to his fan club. This will continue to support my theory that this radical President cares not for any consequences of his policies. He actually sees those consequences as collateral damage enroute to his greater goals of “wealth re-distribution” and the re-shaping of our Constitutional Republic into something more closely resembling that country led by Sean Penn’s favorite “Facebook Friend”. Would somebody please explain to that degenerate actor/activist, the door swings both ways jack ass…

As I wade through the water that still remains in my basement and contemplate the repairs and the cost in dollars and “injury”, I can’t help but be aware of those much worse off. Not just as a result of the “great flood”, but I think of those parents at Hasbro and St. Jude’s this Easter Weekend and the burdens they carry, and it brings me to what I believe is the deeper meaning of Good Friday. Biblical history tells the story of the son of God, and truthfully I am a bit behind on my reading of that sacred text, “sorry Babe”. But my faith and my humanity remind me of the great sacrifice shouldered by that man on my behalf. I am comforted to a degree that for all the suffering in this world, there is always relief in ones faith if we will just go to that place in our hearts.
I’m not sure of the reason, though my Mom did make great efforts to bring me closer to the Church, and some of it actually stuck. I must say however, that it has been the trials of my adult life which have given me great inner perspective when I speak of my religion. I will not bore you with a theological lesson as I am not qualified, nor am I the type to force religion on anyone. That said, Good Friday always seems a day to reflect on how much worse it could be, but also that there is a light ahead, a light of salvation for all of us.
So for my Christian brothers and sisters, and whatever the cross you bear today, try to dig deep and pray on a grander scale. Pray with hope, faith and with reassurance that despite our best efforts, someone else is at the wheel and will bring us home safely.
May the joy that is this Easter Holiday bring blessings to you all… TTY on Monday…

Many in my home state are asking why, when the President was one state over in Massachusetts, he did not swing through and survey the massive damage in “Little Rhody”? I think the short and sweet answer would be, politically, Rhode Island is in the tank for Obama regardless. So we will get our disaster money anyhow, after a visit from Janet Napolitano today…
I have another thought about these types of photo opportunities for Presidents though. I think that in certain situations, it is ok for the President of these United States to stop by and survey the damage and clean up, while offering reassuring words and Federal support. That said however, I think some time should pass before the huge burden of moving this man from one state to another be placed on an already stressed emergency infrastructure. Fly over, sure, but closing down what few roads are open and available to move in supply’s and aid while tying up airports for “Air Force One” and its support planes, needs to come later and be what it is, a photo op…
This goes for any President. There is a time and a place, and what we need now is help… not a spot on someone’s campaign commercial in November and beyond. Maybe, just maybe, President Obama was cognizant of the road closures, and taking into consideration the states small size, opted out.
Just my opinion…

Wow….! My emergency preparedness was certainly tested these past few days, and despite an aggravated old leg injury and a very sore back, it looks like we are gonna make it. It is mind numbing though, to survey the damage from this 100 year flood here in Rhode Island and all over New England. But as bad it got around my house, there are others who have lost everything. Now while you all know I’m certainly not a Patrick Kennedy fan, he did make a lot of sense today when he called for our government to turn some of that money we’re constantly shelling out overseas in toward home and some of these hard hit areas.
I am not looking for any hand outs people so don’t send any. And to my detractors, I am alive and well and did not drown in my basement… That said, I wrapped the knee, popped a handful of Aspirin and got out of the basement for the first time in a few days to help my wife with Easter food shopping at our favorite meat market in Cranston RI. I drove, she shopped… . But it was on that drive that I witnessed firsthand the level of destruction near the bigger rivers. These folks are gonna need everything from diapers to a place to stay as some of their homes have been completely ruined.
So as I tape some “Icy Hot” to the lower back, and try and get some sleep this afternoon, look up your local chapter of the Red Cross and give what you can. Looking into some of the faces of those on the front lines today, I can tell you it will be greatly appreciated.

A friend sent me an email with a photo attached yesterday, that was telling to say the least. Now you all know I have been blogging about the Navy Seals who fattened the lip of the murdering SOB involved in killing those contractors in Fallujah, Iraq, then stringing up their burned bodies from a bridge over the Euphrates River, but the photo you see below is a sad addition to the story. The woman in the picture is not actually welcoming a warrior home, she is thanking one of the warriors who captured the very same SOB that desecrated the body of her boy.
Now I am posting the other photo, not to be morbid, but rather to illustrate clearly who exactly is whining about one of our brave defenders having given him what most high school football or hockey players would call a souvenir.
To all of my detractors that will email me about “representing our values” around the world, let me educate you. First of all, it is those very values these murderers seek to destroy. Moreover, they are specifically trained to raise these issues so they may take advantage of our systems flaws and exploit them to our detriment.
I must tell you though, that I am moved by the support for these Navy Elite, and I’m hopeful as I hear America waking up and saying enough of this silly BS.
To the foolish individuals within the Judicial Application Branch of our military, change course now and put this incident in its proper context, or you will inevitably harm the broader cause of the United States Military, and place doubt in the minds of our fighting men and women at crucial times that may cost them their lives.

All I can say is Max Baucus must have read my blog yesterday because he is coming out and illustrating what is truly motivating the most Liberal Congress in U.S. history. Seems the good Senator from Montana, whether intentionally or otherwise, said yesterday that this new law “would address the mal-distribution of income in America.” Well if that doesn’t say it all, straight out of the Fidel Castro book on good government…
The Constitution and the free market system that has made this Country the greatest in human history is under full frontal assault by the left. So as the Dems go home for Easter touting all of the goodies this new “law” provides, keep asking yourself that age old question that doesn’t seem to get asked a lot in Washington these days : “Who the heck is gonna pay for all this”???

This from the morally corrupt left…
Come Lefties… Just say it… You want an unconstitutional, entitlement “nanny state”, complete with huge government oversight and taxes on anyone who even remotely can afford to pay them to fund it, because you feel that we should all “share the wealth”. If you would get off the sob story band wagon and just admit that, then at least we can have an honest debate…
The truth is, every day that passes will reveal more of the hidden intricacies of this bill and their true cost. That’s why the President has to be in constant campaign mode from now till November, trying to sell a bill to “We the People” that he’s already gotten passed.

From the complete disregard for anything resembling protocol and/or decorum fitting the Office of the President of the United States and/or his immediate subordinates, to the snubbing of the Prime Minister of one of our closest allies, reinforces my view of this President as a disrespectful, arrogant and contemptuous man with neither the experience or knowledge necessary to adequately represent this great Nation. I must tell you, I do not say this lightly and it is truly troubling as we look to our representative government for reassurance in these difficult times. Not only was there no apology for the “open microphone” comments with the Vice President at the health care bill signing, but the two actually joked about selling T-Shirts to commemorate the incident.
These folks are clearly Bush League and it will be a great day for the Country when their time in office is finished, or better yet, they are removed by the voters. Unfortunately, the road to repairing the damage they have done, on a variety of levels, will be a long one. Jimmy Carter is looking real good at this point.

It should come as no surprise that the new health care “law” currently under reconciliation in the Senate, is front loaded with some of the “perks” that the left means to have “front” and center before the November Elections. Of course, all of those horrible premium increases and taxes will come in 2011. So don’t be fooled, though it is already getting some press time as many companies are going on the record and stating, they will immediately go with hiring freezes and restructuring in anticipation of the new mandates and taxes coming down the pike, so much for the jobless numbers coming down in a meaningful way any time soon.
Oh and by the way, get ready for some “comprehensive (reform to the reform) when the Obama Administration moves to add 11 million illegal’s to the health care roles adding another 30 billion dollars and change to the cost. Throw in the Doctor Fix thing and wow, can you say 1 trillion dollars??? Boy that simple math gets ya’ every time…
I guess I’m pointing this out because I suspect that you will hear a lot of those Dems on the Hill screeching about those perks to save their sorry behinds in November. Do not be fooled. I know you won’t be….

The idea that citizens of this Country will now be mandated to purchase something, with a monetary penalty for non compliance, as a predicate to Citizenship, flies in the face of everything we understand our Country to be about. The twelve or so, (and I suspect more jumping on board) states that plan to challenge this legislation legally on the grounds that States rights are being usurped, will be a sort of spearhead for the charge to repeal this piece of garbage.
Constitutionality is something that will come back to haunt this Administration in the months ahead. It is the lynchpin that “We the People” have zeroed in on and will carry to November. Add in cost and quality of care, and Democrats will clearly be left with no answers and no support from the White House this Fall. I have taken a day to look back over the bill as signed by the House, and also to gauge the response. America is outraged…
That said, elections have consequences, and we are seeing those consequences come to pass. This probably will not sit well with you all right now, but get ready for “amnesty and cap and trade”, for as I have told you before, this crowd is driven primarily by ideology. They have seized the moment and will do as much as they can get away with in the time they have left. We must not lose the fire and intensity that has been on display the last week or so. It may simmer down to a slow boil, but be ever vigilant and stay tuned in. Let them gloat, because with every hurrah, and every glass of champagne they drink at our expense, those poll numbers continue to plummet. November will be our time.

This is so sorted, I don’t know where to begin, so let’s start with Stupak. I must admit that even I had hoped that a man supposedly so “saturated” with conviction on so serious a topic as abortion, might have been a light in the sewer that is Washington. Wrong… Turns out, his vote was worth little more than an “executive order” not worth the paper it’s printed on, legislative or otherwise, and $725,000 in federal airport maintenance contract grants.
Do not misunderstand, I am not so naïve to think that this is unique on the hill; however, in a time such as this, and with a bill as monumental and publically challenged as this one, one would have hoped for just a little more integrity. Mr. Stupak showed himself to be nothing but another media hog who doesn’t speak very well.
You sold out the cause of those who cannot speak for themselves Sir. I now join with the chorus of those anxiously awaiting your defeat at the ballot box.

I will obviously take some time to carefully dissect the travesty that took place yesterday on Capitol Hill in Washington, but for now, let’s look at the constitutionality of all of this. I am a huge fan of Constitutional Lawyer Judge Andrew Napolitano. The man just knows his stuff and has never let me down with the facts. Along those lines a reader sent me review of the health care bill (HR 3200) by another CL who had the following to say. I found this interesting.

The Truth About the Health Care Bills – Michael Connelly, Ret. Constitutional Attorney
Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional law. I was frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected.
To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably forced participation in abortions by members of the medical profession.
The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business, and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats, and most of them will not be health care professionals. Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled by the government.
However, a s scary as all of that is, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed.
The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people, and the businesses they own.
The irony is that the Congress doesn’t have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with! I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care.
This legislation also provides for access, by the appointees of the Obama administration, of all of your personal healthcare direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution information, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and hospital. All of this is a protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures. You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide.
If you decide not to have healthcare insurance, or if you have private insurance that is not deemed acceptable to the Health Choices Administrator appointed by Obama, there will be a tax imposed on you. It is called a tax instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However, that doesn’t work because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely depriving someone of property without the due process of law.
So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so much, out the original ten in the Bill of Rights, that are effectively nullified by this law It doesn’t stop there though.
The 9th Amendment that provides: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;
The 10th Amendment states: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people. Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.
I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to “be bound by oath or affirmation to support the Constitution.” If I was a member of Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it, without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway, I would hope the American people would hold me accountable.
For those who might doubt the nature of this threat, I suggest they consult the source, the US Constitution, and Bill of Rights. There you can see exactly what we are about to have taken from us.

The fact that we may see universal health care soon in this Country is a both sobering and alarming. In contrast, the fact that so many have raised their voices in opposition to the government takeover of health care is heartening to say the least.
As you may have surmised, I have tried mightily to reinforce the idea that this vote is about far more than just health care. Despite the posturing, positioning and downright disingenuous manipulation by the other side, I have stayed true to my cause of promoting the real deal and the real numbers. The fruits of these efforts and those of others who share my point of view will come to pass over time. Personally though, I have been able to reinforce some beliefs long held, not the least of which is that the opposition is less concerned with “We the People”, than they are with the fundamental restructuring of a Country they see as “wrong minded”. My mailbox has been shut down on a number of occasions when I’ve raised many similar contentious issues and the hateful comments, (which I take with a grain of salt), have been frankly, disturbing.
Now I know most of my readership lends me a sympathetic ear. That said, I have always invited those with opposing views to make their case. Consequently, I have had to endure the relentless attacks and misrepresentations about the “hate monger” right and the “evil Bush years”, while being insulted and called everything from a bigot to a sexist. Again, I find this amusing most of the time, but when I set about and look back over this particular “engagement” as I like to call it, it seems a little disconcerting.
You may take this for what it’s worth, but it has been my personal experience that when faced with a legitimate argument and discussion, the left in this Country has time and time again responded with a far more lopsided approach than the right when it comes to vicious and hateful attacks against those who disagree with them. When I present the fact that the majority of persons in this Country without health insurance coverage don’t want it, I’m told I must hate the poor. When I say that health insurance is not a right, I must want people to die. When I explain that we can pay for this in other ways, (and give detailed examples no less) I’m told I must support the greedy insurance companies. When I say that we must not extend coverage to those who are in our Country illegally, I’m told I’m a bigot. I could go on and on…
So I’m left to conclude that the Leftist argument is almost completely rooted in misplaced emotion and ideological propaganda, sprinkled with a hefty does of anecdotal sarcasm. The problem is, “We the People” have been collectively screwed every time these arguments have driven policy in the United States, and it is time for us to wake up and tell these folks “NO MORE”.
Look, I want to help those in need. It is in my nature and I have a personal track record to prove it. It is also a time tested reality here in America that we are the most charitable Nation on the planet. I will not however, support the notion that we must fundamentally change the Country and bankrupt our children’s future to do it. Also, I’m sure based on all the data that regardless of how the vote goes today, fully 2/3 of this great Nation feel the same way.
Message to Congress: you’ll be hearing from them soon enough…

More evidence of fraud and deception when it comes to “Obama Care”. Turns out the President lied AGAIN. The final draft of the bill is now missing the Republican portions he vowed to include. It is also missing a key provision which would have granted vast powers to the Feds to control Insurance Company rate hikes.
Who is this guy kidding? Moreover, how do all you Libs out there feel now? Your Man child President is in the tank for the special interest just like the rest. Hello…. Wake up….

As Democrats fold one by one under the pressure of the Chicago political machine and those who were just showboating to try and salvage their races in November sign on as well, it is becoming apparent that this health care disaster may indeed come to “pass”.
Part of me remains astounded by the brazen assault on the Constitution and the truth, coupled with the in your face arrogance and wanton contempt for “We the people” displayed by Pelosi and company. The other part of me though, feels a sense of relief knowing that their defeat at the polls in November is all but assured. I remain convinced that this messy process may have been necessary for the American People to witness first hand so they might finally understand the true motivations of the left in this Country, and that while hope and change sounds all well and good, the devil is always in the details… Based on what I’m seeing and hearing, even in my little liberal cradle of Rhode Island, there is going to be a firestorm of voter dissent in the fall. This election cycle could go down in history as a sort of revolution.
In the mean time, I’m sure that the time spent until November will be more than enough to further dissect this nightmare and expose in great detail just how these criminals have put it to us this time… I only wish to hear the sobs of the fools who thought Utopia was at hand. Why must they always learn the hard way?? And take us along for the ride no less…
God please bless the United States of America… We are gonna need it…

Did anyone think that Dennis Kucinich (D) Ohio, actually had any integrity or principles? If you did, then please put away the Kool-Aid, as you are getting drunk off of it. I’m surprised he held off as long as he did. The man is stone cold Socialist. Anyway, the CBO spoke today and as was expected, came in just shy of a trillion dollars over ten years.
OK then, here is the bigger question, because I have been experimenting with “debating” those on the other side using mediums like “Facebook” and twitter, and have run into some puzzling conundrums. Now while this sort of “networking” does provide another vehicle for my blog and other literary adventures, it has reinforced my notion that to disagree with the Libs in any way is to be somehow “misinformed” and/or the following: “war monger”, “hate monger”, “women hater”, “Bush lover”, “greedy”, “self righteous” and well, you get the picture, but I digress, so much for an honest debate.
Back to my question: Does anyone actually believe that this bill will cost what they say it will, (even though that number is nothing short of staggering)? I mean, if you do, with all due respect, you should proceed immediately to the nearest pile of sand and firmly insert your head! I hope every day that I reach some folks, and at least create the desire to look beyond the “Obama magic”, but if you cannot see the “entitlement examples”, as they are clearly applied in the current menagerie we call the Federal Government, then you are beyond help, or worse, a Socialist who cannot come out and say who you are for fear of being lambasted in our (center right Country). Note here: (working in the shadows is certainly part of the plan)
Now that we have cleared that up, remember, debate and disagreement are one thing, but you cannot simply dismiss that which is factual on the premise that the person on the other side of that debate is as you would say: “misinformed”. This is the easy way out and diminishes that debate to the level of simple propaganda.
For those heading out to DC this weekend, I wish you well. Win lose or draw, the sentiment is clear. The bill is too expensive, misappropriated, and yes Mr. President, the process does mean something to us. It’s called the Constitution…! Come on 2012…
