Can someone please tell me how Mexico can sue a United States Border State? I just need to have this straight in my head. A country on our Southern border, that is unable to stop cartel drug lords from illegally crossing the border and setting up shop over on the American side, whose citizens are fleeing in droves over that same border in an effort to re-patriot their “lost land”, and that is unable or unwilling to stop the mass exodus, can file a brief in a U.S. Court of law forcing the State of Arizona to expend valuable financial resources to defend itself for acting within the boundaries of “U.S.” law to protect itself. What the hell is going on down there and where is our President? Oh, thats right, he is trying to look like a Commander in Chief today…

The more we see of it, the more it looks like a bunch of small time politicians in way, way over their heads on all of the issues that matter. When you figure in their idealistic and socialist legislative approach, I think it’s fair to say that their departure cannot come soon enough.

I have had much responsibility in my time. Some things I have handled better than others. To some I’m a hero and to others the enemy. I have fought what I believed to be the good fight. I have won some and I have lost some. My mind and body have been tested to the boundaries of life and death, and by God’s good grace I have survived to see this day. I have loved, lost and been loved again, and I’m now fully engaged in the battle of the day.

All this is true, and yet of the emotions that accompany these attributes and shortcomings, there is none greater and more satisfying than the unconditional love and adoration of my 8 year old boy. He is my legacy and in his eyes I can do no wrong. He sends me off and greets me when I return. He has his mother’s eyes and thankfully her temperament. His boundless energy and joy are a source of endless inspiration. I love him on a level that defies description. He is my son, and I am his father. There can be no greater responsibility than this.

Happy Fathers Day guys…

So now it’s out that the Obama Administration will sue Arizona over its new immigration law. Well isn’t that special, that with all the economic and other “issues” of the day, President Obama has apparently given the go ahead to AG Holder to challenge Arizona for doing what the Feds are supposed to be doing under law anyway.

I have a couple of suggestion for the POTUS: Firstly, hire an AG that would be willing to read the bill first before offering up his “professional” opinion on the 24 hour news cycle. Second, you might want to think very seriously about investing money we don’t have to contest something that is so obviously the federal government’s responsibility to begin with. I have a sneaking suspicion Sir that “We the People” are going to be a little edgy on this one, what with what’s going on in the Gulf and all.

Frankly, your track record thus far on fulfilling those things covered by that oath you took back about 18 months,,, isn’t so great….

As if crooked politicians and corruption on a grand scale are not enough to be famous for, now we in Rhode Island can boast of the stupidity of our public schools. It seems the Coventry, RI School System has deemed a young student, David Morales in violation of a “no tolerance” policy regarding firearms. What was Master Morales’s crime you ask?? He was participating in a class project where students wrote and essay and decorated a hat with the same theme which they then brought to school for show. David felt a patriotic and military approach would be fun and respectful of the contributions of our Soldiers and Veterans. With this in mind he decorated a camouflage hat with a U.S. Flag and glued on some of his toy Soldiers (with guns, as Soldiers use…) to the visor and top.

I know…. This sort of stuff just makes you want to SCREAM!!! Unfortunately, it speaks to what I have said time and again will be the ruination of our Country, for if this type of senseless political correctness continues to invade our public schools, inevitably our children will be scarred by it.

Anyway, before I blow a gasket here, let me get right to the good news at the end. Retired Adjutant General Reginald Centracchio showed up at a local radio station 630 WPRO, (The John DePetro Show), and met with David and his family who were guests. Centracchio gave Morales a coveted “Challenge Coin” and appointed him Honorary Brigadier General of the Rhode Island National Guard for his actions, thus relegating the Coventry School System to the trash heap of those having committed pointless and embarrassing political screw up’s for all to see.

Kudos to this patriotic young man and his parents for their recognition of the means (armed United States Soldiers) by which Coventry, RI (eventual home of General Nathanael Greene) even exists, and for bringing to the forefront the lack of common sense, or worse yet, the blatant ideological stupidity that permeates our public schools today.

No one is suggesting that BP should not pay. As a matter of fact, that feeling is just about universal across the Nation. The evidence is overwhelming and BP is the culprit here.

That said, pressure on a private corporation exerted by the most powerful office in the world, sets a dangerous precedent that could have far reaching and disastrous economic and other consequences down the line.

No one is defending BP, but does it not make sense that the “survival” of the company is paramount to the well being of the Gulf states and their citizens. Moreover, what does it say for the future of our way of life when the POTUS can circumvent Congress and the law whenever “he” pleases, or whenever “he” thinks it is warranted..

The destruction of BP, while it may provide a little red meat for the “tar and feather crowd”, accomplishes little but for to devastate its shareholders (many are English and American “small people” saving for retirement), and bankrupt any hope for long term financial assistances to the Gulf region.

As we are all fixated on the Gulf tragedy, it is easy to miss some stuff, but that’s why I’m here. As the President astounded the American people the other night with his lack luster, late to the game speech, I couldn’t help but pick up on his quick and quiet comment to the effect of “the current economic recovery”. This stuff does not evade my radar. Claims for Jobless benefits are up again today basically erasing any gains from the last report and supporting leading economists feelings that this “recovery” is about ready to go belly up. Can you say double dipper???

What is shocking about this though, is not the fact that it is happening, but rather that this Administration and this President continue to promote the notion that we are in some sort of real economic up swing. Now I will not reiterate the obvious which I have done so many times as the numbers are simply the numbers, but it is oh so important that you all pay attention. Not just so you can make adjustments as you try and compensate for all the negatives that come with the current (party in powers) socialist approach to governing, but rather because the change that is required to correct and deviate from this perilous course and take back our country will require your presence at the polls as any beginning to real and meaningful recovery in the Fall.

I know this is a little behind the news cycle, but I thought it was worthy of another shout out. Interesting, some of the forgotten words.

The Star Spangled Banner

1814

Words by Francis Scott Key, Music by John Stafford Smith

O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,

O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

O say does that star spangled banner yet wave

O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep.

Where the foe’s haughty host in dread silence reposes,

What is that which the breeze, o’er the towering steep,

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning’s first beam,

In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:

‘Tis the Star-Spangled Banner! O long may it wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore

That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion

A home and a country should leave us no more?

Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:

And the Star-Spangled Banner, in triumph doth wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand

Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation!

Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heaven-rescued land

Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.

Then conquer we must when our cause it is just

And this be our motto: “In God is our Trust.”

And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

After almost “$800,000,000,000.00” of “stimulus” money, evidently the POTUS is not done yet. The truly sad part is he is going through the back door to procure an additional “$50,000,000,000.00” from Congress and secure government jobs on all three levels that have simply come due for funding again. Pumping money into the government sector has never, and will never be self sustaining, and the internal failures associated with this failed approach are beginning to show themselves. This “recovery” is a farce. The emphasis was always on government incentives and not the provide sector. We see this as a new study out this past week shows the government worker makes on average, $12.00 more per hour more than the private sector worker. Moreover, the employment figures continue to show a private sector less inclined to expand and hire as they are to make good with what they have. When you figure in the global financial crises and the BP oil spill, then add in a host of shaky at best economic indicators here in the States, it is impossible to see anything but a double dip recession or worse ahead.

My wife said to me the other day that she was shocked when she heard some Lib at my son’s elementary school going on about this “ongoing economic recovery”. I asked if she questioned the young “Obamabot” about the almost 10%unemployment and the fact that many have simply dropped off the rolls as their benefits are now exhausted, or how many mortgage holders who’s banks had granted reprieves at the “behest” of the Administration to bolster their claims of recovery were about to lose their homes and send the foreclosure rates soaring in the next six months, or maybe the dozens of city and state governments poised on the verge of bankruptcy with many opting for a receiver to take over their books thus avoiding being sued by the big unions, or maybe the $14,000,000,000,000.00 in current debt we are now preparing to balloon to an estimated $25,000,000,000,000.00 and pass on to our children by 2020, or maybe,,, alright,,, I hate repeating myself.

Are these people completely blind, stupid or both? Worse yet, maybe they are just resigned to a (one world order) where their fates are determined by the will of the ruling elite and they are powerless to change it. Either way, it is this type of uneducated and/or willingly manipulated electorate that scares me when they go to the polls. Remember in November!!

Now it seems Mr. Obama is out there complaining that his detractors want smaller government, yet they are crying he is not doing enough when it comes to this catastrophe. Let me see if I can help Sir.

We simply expect that the federal government should fulfill its responsibilities to protect and assist the states when a disaster of this magnitude occurs. It is clearly and Constitutionally appropriate for the federal entity to step in and exert its full power and authority in combating a natural or manmade disaster in U.S. national waters. It is your job, and that of the federal agencies under your direction, to engage and institute every possible means of resolution to stop or limit, in the most expeditious way possible, further destruction and/or hardship for the American people. Please do not confuse “your job” with your ideology of circumventing the Constitution by way of social and economic progressive policy initiatives jammed through a partisan Congress.

Mr. President, the Gulf region is poised on the precipice of total and economic ruin of generational proportions. America is looking to you for leadership, not finger pointing and condescending rhetoric.

You would think that with the “Leftist” worship and adaptation of all things academia, as well as the arts, literature and science, they would be a bit more understanding and accepting of others who study the same. The truth of the matter is, they are hypocrites of the highest order and utilize these avenues only when it suits their true purpose of demonizing their enemies.

Glenn Beck has set upon the way of fiction writing and is currently promoting his new book “The Overton Window” with a trailer “The Gods of the Copybook Headings” by poet Rudyard Kipling, and the Liberal nut jobs have wasted no time in pouncing for what they call a “lunatic” advertisement. These fools are so crazed with hatred for Beck the man, that they simply gloss over that which they claim as their own from the pen of a literary giant.

“The Gods of the Copybook Headings” is a poem Kipling wrote to vent frustration at the loss of his only son in 1915 during WW I, and transitions beautifully into the theme of Beck’s new book. Kipling harbored passionate and bitter emotions concerning “Fabian Socialism” and the hypocrisy that he believed led to the destruction of the “Great War”.

Any analysis of Kipling from a political perspective would certainly be a great discussion in the world of the “academic”. Consequently, it is nothing short of maddening to hear the Progressives screaming about what I see as Beck’s (brilliant) choice of promotion.

Again we must marvel at the pure hatred and disdain the Liberal Left exudes for anyone or entity that it feels a threat. So visceral and caustic are their motives, that they are blinded even to the very foundational beliefs they purvey. This is the true definition of hypocrisy, and to me precisely defines the Progressive movement of our time.

As I watch scenes from the Gulf unfold on the 24 hour news cycle, I’m struck by the enormity of it all. I can’t help but wonder though, if folks (around the Country) are truly grasping the catastrophe we are facing. The implications of this spill are “far reaching” and frightening, both from an environmental as well as economic standpoint. The Gulf Coast economy is a major driving force in relation to the national economy by way of tourism, the seafood industry, (and oil drilling as well). These economic engines will be severely curtailed at least for the foreseeable future and beyond just based on the spills affects to this point, never mind if they can’t plug this monster before August.

To add to this already disturbing forecast, our leadership in Washington have not only responded in a less than expedient fashion to this crisis, but also have stirred us into such dire financial straits of recent, that it is unlikely the Federal Government will even posses the ability to assist in any meaningful way in the Gulf Region.

Anyway, as I watch the oil continue to spew from that busted out pipe 5000 feet down, I am left with somewhat of a helpless feeling but to pray for the people of the Gulf states and for the sea creatures and birds as well, that somehow that leak be stopped and we may begin the recovery and healing process as soon as possible.

I can’t help but wonder if the environmentalists have caused a lot of the damage they sought to prevent on this one. Much of deep water drilling is certainly a result of regulation fought for by the “environmentalist whackos” and enacted by intimidated legislators at the state and federal level. That legislation forces the oil companies to drill further and further (deeper and deeper) from shore, thus setting in motion the catastrophe unfolding in the Gulf right now. It is clear to see that the primary difficulty in stopping this leak comes as BP struggles with the depth of the water, while attempting to put in play a number of tactics that might have worked in waters closer to the shoreline.

Make no mistake, I am not suggesting that BP should not bear most of the blame for the oil spill, all I’m saying is that many of the “do good” and “feel good” politics of the day often come back to bite you in the real world. Can you say Anwar??

I heard a Wall Street Journal Columnist on a talk show today compare the bloodshed on that Turkish ship a couple of days back to a “playground skirmish” with no clear winner. Now while the latter part of the statement may be true, I have been in a few playground skirmishes, and none of my competitors possessed long kitchen knives, swords, Arabian edged blades, 2×4’s, sledge hammers and bats, to name a few of the pictured weapons of choice. Here are the simple facts as I see them though.

Fact 1: A sea blockade exists so as to prevent the terrorist murderers of Hamas from coming into possession of the means to create and/or launch rockets into Israel proper, and it has proven a successful tool in Israel’s approach to protecting its people. Fact 2: The Turkish and other “combatants” on board chose to breach that blockade thus setting the stage for the inevitable confrontation. Fact 3: The Israeli Government had previously offered to transfer all of the goods on board into the Gaza Strip but was rebuffed in lieu of confrontation.

Anyway, there is certainly some blame to go around on this one, including with regard to Israel ‘s tactics and intelligence gathering apparatus, but it clearly seems that the Jewish State was baited into an altercation and forced to the point of using deadly force to repel a hostile and dangerous enemy combatant group. I believe the only “prosecution” that should take place here, is that of Richard Daley for crimes against the Constitution. Moreover, I suspect that if he actually attacks the problem of crime in his city, he will have to turn himself in…

Hey Dick, you couldn’t shine that heroes shoes…

The June Primaries are a week away and it will be interesting to see the mood of the Country as Republicans battle over the direction of their party. I’d like to think the momentum is a Conservative one. I believe this President and his stand offish attitude and approach have turned the Nation against his policies. Buyer’s remorse is the word of the day for the “Independents” who got this man elected…

I do believe however, that as establishment Democrats seem to be getting knocked off in primaries, the Republicans ought to be very careful to focus on issues that have the attention of “We the People”, and not be bogged down in any political backwash as they have in the past. This is certainly the case in the Specter Race with Toomey now facing a much stronger candidate in November.

The Candidate who can convince the voter they are “listening”, Republican or Democrat, wins in 2010!

Memorial Day 2010…

Published PATRIOT64 Military

Memorial Day is a special time for me. I think of all my loved and lost, but especially those who have served and are now gone but to God. I visit the Veterans Cemetery in Exeter Rhode Island and tend the graves of my father (Korea), his brothers (WW II), and the most recently fallen heroes of Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. I think of my nephews who served in both. Every year since his birth I have taken my boy there as well. I want him to always be cognizant and appreciative of those who have sacrificed on his behalf, and he is. I must admit though, he has become quite chummy with the Governor at ceremony time, usually walking right up to him and starting a conversation, to which Mr. Carcieri politely obliges, and his mother and I cringe…

Anyway, I am having difficulty this Memorial Day, more so than in the past. It seems that with every year that goes by while we are at war, I grow more and more tongue tied with how to express what it is that I feel. On the one hand I don’t want to be distracted with what I see as some in our Country’s complacency when it comes to the founding ideals and principles. That said, I quickly go over to the acknowledgement side and do what I can to support those in service, and the families of those lost to the fight defending freedom. When I do this however, I am even more torn apart. So this year I thought about how I could get a message across that would resonate, but quickly realized that the problem is I’m simply not up to the task. I am just one of the millions who must stand in awe of the bravery and sense of purpose it must take to lay one’s life out there in the name of human freedom. So I will try another avenue.

I watched a movie some time back that seemed to put it all in place for me personally, and so I watched it again just yesterday as a means to reconcile my thought process, going into what I feel is the most important National Holiday weekend of the year. The story of Marine Lance Corporal Chance Phelps (July 14, 1984 – April 9, 2004) and the HBO movie “Taking Chance” which memorializes his death in Iraq and subsequent escort back to his home town of Riverton, Wyoming by Marine Lt Col. Mike Strobl, has helped me to truly and finally “understand”. Lt Col. Strobl’s writings of his experience show us the inner struggle of the Soldier who is always ready to serve, but must face the challenges of his changing role, growing older and starting a family. The movie is true to story and gives you a firsthand look inside the world of our Military when they lose one of their own. There is a protocol that must be followed and while it is as heart wrenching an experience as one can witness, it is also completely befitting one who has given up his/her future for our sake. It is not an easy movie to watch and it concludes with photos and video of the child Chance Phelps, and while it wrestles emotions from even a hardened soul such as mine, I feel strongly it should be course material for every high school and college in this Country.

Like so many others, this young man was a son/daughter, a brother/sister and a friend. I stare at those photos on the screen and try to weigh the cost. The tears well and I feel the anguish of a parent trying to reconcile bringing a child up to that end. I try to understand but cannot, except to know down deep the cost of freedom is high, and if this thing we call the United States of America is to survive in a world filled with the evils of those who would enslave, then we will surely pay the price in young lives such as that of Lance Corporal Chance Phelps. But this is what makes us unique and special. This is why we are the destination of the oppressed. This is why we are the targets of the Terrorists. It is often difficult to stand alone in the light, but it is just and necessary.

So I ask that on this Memorial Day you make an effort to get to a Cemetery and pay your respects to the fallen marked by a flag. If you can’t, don’t be shy about walking up to the uniform and saying thank you, or telling your little ones about heroes like Chance that have made this world a better place, or about those who are fighting for them right this very minute. And by all means, rent that video and be moved by it. It will make you see the big picture, I promise you…

God Bless all of the United States Military souls who have gone ahead and now keep an endless watch over us. And to those who fight on, please know that I will do my part to press those who direct you, to settle for nothing short of total victory, and then home to your families as soon as possible. You have earned it…

Additional Story Notes:

I am the corpsman who was sitting next to PFC Phelps when we got hit on April 9th 2004. I was sitting right next to Phelps in the vehicle as the enemy initiated the ambush. I am convinced that Chance died instantly but his head was in my lap and cradled in my arms just seconds after he was hit.

After the firefight, I held his hand as our convoy limped back to the FOB. I knew he was gone but I still felt the need for him to know I was still there with him. I think about him every single day without exception…

Subject: Trip Report

Mike,

I just read your trip report forwarded to me by CO, 11 th Marines, and having done the kind of duty you report about I know the emotions and pride. I was with the Marine you escorted, nearly right next to him, when he was killed instantly along side a road named ASR San Juan . The closest village is Jurf as Sakhr, and it sits right on the Euphrates River with Fallujah 25kms to the N, and Baghdad perhaps 45 to the NNE. This is an ugly little section of Iraq and full of extremists that hate us for some reason. Don’t know why, but that’s the way it is. We were in five vehicles and were caught in a complex ambush. They initiated it with an IED that caught the lead vehicle, disabled it, and wounded two of the three Marines inside. After the IED there was immediate massed MG, AK, RPG, and mortar fire that certainly defined for me the term “withering.” The second vehicle was also caught in the kill zone, but they it did a 180 and out – two WIA aboard from the initial volley. The third vehicle was outside the KZ, but seeing #1 disabled and the Marines in extremis drove in, dismounted, set up a base fire, and started to work the comms. The other vehicles dismounted outside the KZ and began to seek the flank of the ambush. Your Marine’s vehicle was called forward to try and close the back door and prevent the guerrillas escape so we could kill them, and after accomplishing the maneuver and putting his gun in action, he was hit. Over time we shot our way out of it. We collected up wounded, dead, and all equipment from the destroyed HMMWV, then walked out of the KZ shooting the entire time until we were clear. All the Marines in the patrol did what we trained them to do, did it instinctively, and as if they were born to it. Every one of them returned fire, moved to the sound of the guns, and took action. There was certainly nothing special about any of them, by the way, other than they were MARINES.

Your charge started this return home with the same kind of reverence and honor you describe in your trip report, only in a very, very different way. When we rushed into the combat base in Mahmudiyah it wasn’t for him, we knew he was already with God, but for the WIAs we had aboard. The entire camp knew he was with us, however, and they all stood tall and were proud to simply be in the same shit hole with him and doing what they joined to do. The Navy Docs went right to it with the WIAs and saved lives, at the same time we removed him from the vehicle it’s turret having been immediately manned by another Marine who’d himself been hit in the face, but pressed with the mission and the gun never went quiet in the process. The dead Marine, only just out of high school last May, was of course filthy dirty and his uniform vastly different than the one you saw him in. He obviously was not wearing any ribbons, but did have his flak and all the other accoutrements of a field Marine on when we removed him. He was also still soaked from the unbelievable sweating a fight brings on. His buddies spent a few quiet moments and we talked about the loss, and what he meant – what he was like – to them all. Everyone offered a vignette, most were silly or funny, but that’s the kind of guy he was. We then withdrew as there was a detailed critique to conduct (actions on contact, who did what, what worked, what didn’t work, what could have done better, and all the what ifs that go with learning the trade and getting better), and then the platoon commander (himself quite a guy) got right to it as there were also weapons to clean, and preps to be made for the next patrol. Life goes on doesn’t it. This all took place, by the way, at about 1500 local on Good Friday. Thought you should know the rest of the story. Thanks for taking care of our Marine.

Semper Fidelis,

Kelly

I am often asked why I do not print more of the comments sent to the blog. Well its mornings like these that answer that for me… I love to open my email box in the morning and read some of the “interesting” analysis in my inbox, and yes, the thought of boiling in crude oil is somewhat alarming. Regardless, the BP oil spill seems to be dominant among the topics, and has some of you “wondering” why I have not commented yet, with more than a few asking if my “drill baby drill” position has changed any.

Well ok, you asked for it. For starters, NO, my position has not changed.

I have hesitated to blog only because I was waiting to see how the federal response would play out and how the President would apply himself with regard to this monumental catastrophe. Make no mistake; it is becoming more and more apparent, as information about the time leading up to the initial explosion that killed those poor rig workers is showing a plethora of errors, miscalculations and just plain negligence on the part of BP Site Supervisors and their on shore Directors. Indecision and a lack of clarity about what to do in these types of situations seem to have ruled the moment, with devastating results. Having said this, an evaluation of the rules that govern off shore drilling, how they are applied, and ultimately who is responsible to enforce them, is a separate discussion with its own level of applicability.

My observations beyond this are as follows: Actions by both BP and the Feds immediately following the explosion and subsequent oil release were irresponsible, abysmal and may even have been criminal. BP was clearly trying to deceive the public, specifically the South Western Coastal States, about what was actually occurring in real time, and the Feds were already thinking more about damage control than oil control. For this reason, resources which may have been helpful initially were not deployed. It also appears to me that the President and his “advisors”, in their rush to deflect and “put their boots to someone’s neck”, (even to the point of once again blaming Bush), failed to do their homework and understand that under the Stafford Act, the BP disaster was clearly in federal waters and therefore a federal problem, while Katrina was a Coastal State disaster which gives Jurisdictional latitude to the states instead, making the two disasters uniquely different. Now for all you Bush Bashers, please take another sip of Kool-Aid and get it through your heads. Bush may not have been as “sensitive” as you all would have liked, but he acted appropriately in expecting bone heads like Ray Nagin to do their jobs, while Obama has not acted appropriately in neglecting to take control of what clearly was and remains a Federal disaster early on, thus missing the opportunity to bring full federal resources to bear. Where the heck are all these “scholars” on his staff that are supposed to know this stuff? Truthfully, it took me two minutes to look it up. Now that we have beaten that one to death, let’s move on.

BP is now deploying technological resources which are far more advanced and applicable to the current flow rates than anything any government has to offer, and short of the relief wells being drilled, it appears they are doing everything possible. You must understand this from a “court of public opinion” standpoint as well as the idea that the government’s efforts will be more a supportive role and oriented towards clean up and recovery. Now despite BP’s efforts however, they are also deploying resources to thwart the press from seeing the full extent of the damage, and this is regrettable. A full accounting of this story must be read aloud if we are ever to get it right with regard to offshore drilling. The Feds however are doing the same thing for different reasons. They are clearly in (protect Obama’s back side mode) on this one, and this too is regrettable, as the President has done a lot of talking on this issue, and has accepted lots of greenbacks from these folks.

I am encouraged though, by what appears to be an effort by ALL of the press to get answers. I am also confident that it will all play out eventually. Along those lines, I watched the President’s press conference yesterday, and frankly was left once again with the feeling that it’s all about him. I just couldn’t take anything away from that side show that lent me to believe he cared one bit about the scores of folks in that region whose lives are being destroyed as we speak.

Anyway, my heart is sickened today with the thought that so many will clearly lose everything they have ever known or have worked for. A way of life, a family tradition of the sea, a living earned or a lucrative business, are all things in jeopardy for many of the Southern shoreline. With this in mind I am hopeful that BP will be successful today in their efforts stop the flow of oil into the Gulf ahead of the relief wells, and I’m equally hopeful that every effort is made to extract from their billions in wealth, the funds necessary to address the misery this disaster has brought to those who make their living along the Gulf Coast States. That will truly be a big part of a just resolution. Additionally, I am cautiously optimistic that the lessons learned from this disaster will serve as a blueprint for safer and more stable efforts in what is clearly an integral and undeniably necessary component to our immediate energy needs in the United States today.

Finally, I am steadfast in my opinion that the POTUS put aside the polling data, and get engaged at a level beyond political self preservation. Way to spend your Memorial Day Weekend Mr. President: Get over to Arlington on Monday Sir, pay homage to those who have died so you may be President of a free Nation, and then proceed directly to the Gulf region in full battle mode against this unfolding nightmare. Be the leader you told us you would be. And if this sounds a bit self righteous and assuming, feel free to make a stop at TF Green Airport in Warwick, RI. I will meet you there and if you cover the cost of some chemical scrubs, gloves and a ride over, I’ll bring my own tools and I will stand on the beach with you until I can stand no more. God help those who are being, and those who surely will be impacted by this… We are all watching and praying for success today…

As much as I would love to be more confident in our chances to rid Washington of the kind of incumbent politician that is destroying our great Nation, I can’t help but look at the latest polls out of CT and be sick to my stomach…

This lying crack pot Blumenthal continues to enjoy a 25 point lead over the nearest challenger for disgraced Senator Dodd’s vacating seat, and this includes the support of many veterans. Now while I’m sure that Mr. Blumenthal may have been supportive to veterans in a number of ways throughout his career in politics, it is still nothing short of amazing to me that having committed the cardinal sin of sins in the military community, that being to lie about combat service, he can continue to have the support of the VFW folks.

The fact that the non military liberal fools in CT continue to support this liar, is much easier to understand.

You mean there were those of you out there who actually believed the President was sending troops to the border as an overture of understanding regarding the illegal issue. Ya… Ok…

Nothing could be further from the truth. First off, they clearly need more along the lines of 7-10 thousand troops to properly do the job, and this does not include the Army Corps of Engineers to build a perimeter fence that spans the entire length our Southern border. Secondly, the 1200 troops he is sending will be for logistical support only and not allowed to assist the beleaguered and straining Border Patrol. And finally, this has been and will continue to be not about the many verifiable and documented problems resulting from illegal immigration to the U.S. from and through Mexico, but rather about the liberal left in this Country and its desire to galvanize the Latino voting bloc in their favor before the November Elections. It is important to keep this in mind as we must show up in superior numbers at the polls in November and bring the substance to the will of “We the People”, so clearly evident in all of the current polling.

Congrats to Republican Charles Djou for his upset in the Presidents hometown. I am still a little perplexed however, at some of the articles and blogs I have been reading portraying this election as a “cancel out” to the Pennsylvania special election for the Murtha seat. Not sure where anyone was suggesting that election would have went to the Republican. I mean there was a lot hope, but come on Folks, these are heavily Democratic voter block areas where, as I have said, it should be notable that Repub’s are even competitive. None the less, combined with our victories to date since Obama came to town with his bag of tricks and communist pals, it’s looking pretty ominous for the Libs this November…

The President once again has gone before a group of our Military Cadets, (some of whom might very well give their lives someday for our founding principles), and stated that he will continue his push for a “new international order, that can resolve the challenges of our times.”

Mr. President, would this be the same “order” that is currently destroying the international economy, or maybe the one that if not for the USA would starve to death, or possibly the one that allows a sociopath like Ahmadinejad to threaten not only this neighbors, but the security of the planet as well?

Here is where ideology plays into the argument. The United States must be a force for good in the world as it once was. We must be respected for our strength of purpose, and means to back it up. That kind of stability must also manifest itself in our elected leaders. What the world (and our enemies) currently sees, is a wobbly Nation with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel, and the kicker is they know this President is at least a socialist aiding and abetting the cause of that back sliding.

The opponents of Freedom and American Exceptionalism seek a leaderless world with everyone on equal terms. Look over seas Folks; look at what years of that type of “social experiment” have done to Europe. And better still, look at the most recent move to the right by European voters.

This great Country has given rise to new nations from the ashes of two world wars. We have showed the way through sacrifice and blood time and again. We have literally and continually fed the masses around the globe that the children might grow up. So despite what they might say to your face about your little “campus initiative” Mr. President, the world wants, no, the world needs a strong and dependable America they are confident could/would, if necessary, rise to those types of challenges once more.

Evidently its becoming quite fashionable for the President to “punk off” one of his own states when world “leaders’ are in town, though I’m not sure that Mr. Calderon could be considered a leader. Again Mr. Obama trashed the Arizona Immigration Law which basically does the job he is supposed to be doing, by misrepresenting the facts of the bill. Bottom line here is that the POTUS is flat out lying to “We the People” and the rest of the world.

He went to great lengths to let El Mexicano Presidente know that he would leave no stone unturned when it comes to thwarting the will of the State of Arizona. He also had the brass ones to say his “Justice Department” was “reading” the bill to determine if it is legitimate with regard to federal law. Would that be the same bunch headed up by AG Holder (who read it before he didn’t read it)… Huh???

Specter’s departure can’t come soon enough and Sestak’s eventual defeat in November will be even better. Blanche Lincoln now facing a run off, and Rand Paul’s victory in Kentucky also spell bad news for the Washington Establishment that has forgotten who they work for. And even the strong showing in “Murtha Country” by Tim Burns should be cause for grave concern among the Democratic Party elite.

Message to President Obama: you may have been a good luck charm to the women of UConn basketball, but you are the kiss of death to incumbents…

Am I hearing correctly that the “drive-by media” is trying to spin saving Murtha’s old seat as some sort of vindication of Obama, when there candidate ran on an anti-Obama platform of pro-gun and smaller government? Heck, we welcome all sensible Democrats over to the side of right and encourage all politicians with their head in the sand to stay in that position. The tents are going up, the parking barriers are in place, and the anticipation is palpable. But as I watch young people around my state collect up there student loans and head into the world, I’m left with many nagging concerns. What have we really taught them beyond the books? What have we given them to hold onto and call their own? What security will they have, and how do they see themselves as United States Citizens in this uncertain time. The answers I keep coming up with are less than reassuring.

An agenda driven left wing media, in support of a Democratic Party co-opted and hijacked by the “social experiment” crowd, have been relentless in their mission to mold and manipulate our young folks from crib to classroom and beyond. I have seen this first hand as my eight year old pits his patriotism against the “Globalist mentality” daily at his elementary school. I can only cringe at the thought of what it will be like when he is in college, as we hear more and more “professors” pontificate about the evils of capitalism and the big bad USA.

And so I watch another graduating class, and reflect on how traditionally this is a time for parents to breathe a sigh of relief and for graduates to settle down and really think about their future. With this in mind I guess my hope is that, as key note speakers gear up to send a message to these young folks, please let it include the following:

Remember Graduates, that while it may not have been front and center in class, the sacrifice borne by many so you might see this day in freedom has been great. Go forward with the ideals and values that have set this Country apart from the rest of the world. And finally, know in your hearts that while no nation is perfect in all of its forms, the United States of America, (your home), has done more to advance and secure the cause of human kind than any nation in history. Celebrate that, cherish that, and never forget those who have given their youth and future to God so that you might enjoy this great accomplishment today.

God bless all of you and good luck…

It’s the “Mini Super Tuesday”… There are some key primaries and one special election today that could show the mood of the Nation in glowing fashion. Don’t look so much at the winners and losers, but more at the numbers, particularly in the Specter primary. Watch for turn out and how close it is in the end and this will give you a good idea about the General Election in November. As far as Murtha’s old seat, the fact that it’s even being talked about in such a heavily Democratic district is news unto itself.

This is a test for “We the People”. To all the voters in this contest today, (Democrat or Republican) vote your conscience. Vote for your children, and vote for what you know in your heart and mind is the truth. We are fast on the road to November.

Turns out the CBO is now saying that it was rushed into its cost evaluation of the Health Care Bill initially, and therefore its figures were a tad off,,, oh, by about $115,000,000,000.00.

Now the way I see it, there are two camps of folks that supported this pig. The first are those that were either so enamored with this President that they could not see passed the mountains of BS, and the second are the true socialists in search of the “government utopia” and who will stop at nothing to bring it about. These folks to me are the most dangerous. There are many who would tell though, that there is a third group as well that are just plain stupid and that they are the most dangerous because Obama dragged them into the voting booth in 08. I would disagree with that theory only because my experience has taught me that the facts are powerful tools that can change minds.

That said, the bottom line here people is that when we add up all of the true cost for this “social experiment”, and we combine it with the undeniable facts about how it has worked for other Nations, we have obviously been sold a bill of goods not worth the paper it is printed on and that will continue to burden generations to come.

I’m sorry if this sounds bigoted, but the idea of building a mosque anywhere in or around the former site of the World Trade Center Complex is unacceptable. My thought process is that I have yet to hear or witness the outrage at the carnage of 9/11, and subsequent atrocities perpetrated in the name of their religion by the “murderers of the innocent”, that should have come from the collective Muslim community around the globe by now. Instead we hear this dribble and drabble that must be dragged out of the interviewee, along with continual attempts to explain away this barbarism, when asked whether or not they condemn these types of acts. The discussion almost always turns to the oppression of Muslims instead. Moreover, I feel strongly that “Ground Zero” is now a hallowed place where the souls of thousands of innocents ascended to God.

With this in mind, the United States most certainly should reserve the exclusive right to deny any development in that area that could instill unnecessary grief and emotion on the part of those left behind.

Now I’m hearing that the developers have put forward some convoluted explanation having to do with the mosque as a symbol of co-existence and tolerance and that’s fine, but build it down the road.

This is a no brainer and the powers that be (Bloomberg) over in NY better pull that PC microphone out of their trap and tell these people that it’s not gonna happen, so move on…
