My prediction???

I have been asked over and over to predict the outcome of Tuesday’s Presidential Election. Some of my political foes have tried desperately to engage me along these lines, so they might enjoy some post-election “I told ya so” benefit if the President is re-elected. Not interested…

The problem for me is I know this election is less about the candidates than about our country, and our children’s country in an even broader sense. After the most divisive and bitter campaign in U.S. history, I think we can all agree we’ve reached a crossroads in America. The direction we take will determine whether we keep the promise of our forefathers, one of rewards for hard work and individual achievement, or go the way of dependency and collectivism, carefully packaged in such a way as to “suggest” fairness while embracing the rhetoric of class warfare.

With that thought in mind, I will not bore you with another diatribe centered on the differences between President Obama and Governor Romney specifically, mainly because I’ve come to the conclusion they mean very little. Far too many on the Left will go to the polls next week and vote against the hard reality of economic calamity for the sake of a purely partisan victory, and it is unlikely anything would change their minds. No, this is more about a fight to one side, and history to the other.

All I have ever asked is for Liberal/Progressives to admit that our Founder’s United States is not a nation they support. I can respect a truthful advisory. But as most “Left Wingers” continue to disguise their contempt for the God-given and unalienable rights which have provided for their freedom of speech, I can only reiterate my own positions for the sake of debate.

It is simply impossible to espouse entitlement without means to support it, and sound off like a champion of the “American Dream” at the same time. Nowhere in that dream were there any handouts without responsibility, or aid without accountability. And the words which gave “birth” to it all, included the guarantee of (life) as well as “Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness”. Moreover, the denial of faith in favor of “truth” managed by a vain humanity, has shown us beyond doubt that our current course is a perilous one, fraught with the pitfalls of fractured families and a compromised moral foundation.

In the end, we must answer a couple of very basic questions in the voting booth on Tuesday. Firstly, how much of our grandfathers country are we willing to generationally steal from our children, because he is not here to tell us we are selfish jackasses? And second, how far is beyond the point of no return for America?

Come on people, you know the score. Is this the direction you want for your children? Are you okay with the nearly $60,000.00 in debt born to every child in the United States today? Are you comfortable with someone else’s private lifestyle being thrust upon you in a state of forced acceptance in order to somehow legitimize the personal behavior of others, all in the name of perceived equality? And will you stand by while someone tells you your country is not and should not be exceptional, rather than defend the greatness of a body politic which fought against all odds and changed the world for the better?

No my friends, this election is not about Obama or Romney, it’s about you! For this reason I will not make a prediction, but rather an observation. The United States of America has either lost or forfeited its soul. A soul, brave men and women have died to protect. On November 6th 2012, it will be up to you to find, recover or discard that soul. But I will predict this, we will  not have long to wait before we see the results of any wrong decision on the part of the electorate. Sadly though, “the new norm” may already have chosen for us… See you all on the other side…

Let the battle begin…

I did my level best to keep an open mind during last night’s debate, which is more than I can say for some of my email detractors. You folks really need to consider anger management classes. With that said, I think not many minds were changed by this last meeting of President Obama and Governor Romney. I did feel the President sounded more like the challenger rather than the incumbent. But overall, the stark contrasts between the two men and their ideologies was only reinforced.

I have framed this election for the last four years as a battle for the soul of this country. I stand by that assessment even more steadfastly today. In the end, folks will have to do a great deal of gut checking when they go into the voting booth. And while there will always be the party loyalists who vote their emotions instead of on the basis of truth, this election will ultimately be decided when clear-headed individuals make a conscious choice in terms of where they see our country in twenty years.

With the debates now over, I cannot remember a more divided America. Sadly, this is our own doing and not that of some political boogie man conjured up by either side. We have failed in so many ways to safeguard that which was entrusted to us, and are therefore left to fight over what the founders had intended to be so much more clear. Our value system is in chaos and the minority has paralyzed an entire culture, because so many have chosen apathy and political correctness over the time-tested principles of individual liberty and accountability. Dependency is now revered and success is demonized. Revisionist history is the norm and few of our children are learning the greatness of America or of those who gave their futures to keep it that way.

Nonetheless and in the simplest of terms, for Governor Romney to become President there must be enough voters out there who understand, our current direction will erode and eventually erase the exceptionalism which has made The United States the greatest arrangement for mankind in all of human history. And for President Obama to remain President, there must be enough voters who have become comfortable with a globalist, big government, big debt and “live in the moment” application. On November 6, 2012, the world will know whether “We the People” shall rise up from adversity once again, and unite to leave our children a better future as we have done for generations, or whether we will simply be another political punch-line, remembered only for the missed opportunity of having learned the lessons of history. Please put any ill-conceived or resentment filled rhetoric in its proper place and vote your conscience this November…There is much at stake…

Dear Undecided Voter,,,

What does it mean to be undecided? In literal terms, it means not having made up one’s mind I suppose. Fair enough. However in terms of the American Electorate, I’m afraid it means much more.

It’s no secret there’s a segment of the voting public who tend to hide behind a veil of perceived utopia and coffee-house politics as they contemplate their vote. Acceptance among so-called like-minded friends is important in these circles but can get you into trouble. Sacrificing conviction and/or common sense for the sake of some glorified collectivism is never a good thing. Inevitably, you are often left more confused than when you started.

Peeling back the electoral layers of this year’s Presidential contest is important for many reasons, not the least of which is, an educated vote is truly our only hope. It always comes to pass at this juncture in the election cycle, that the few “undecided’s” make their voices heard. Regrettably,  it always seems to be more about the process than the actual facts and circumstances on the ground. The issues are largely ignored in favor of a “personal” discussion over political mud-slinging. We simply don’t have that luxury this time around.

The truth of our economic predicament today, leaves us far more vulnerable as a nation than any populous division. The confusion over tax cuts vs. credits and deductions is always a glaring example. Many don’t realize or understand the government takes far more in taxes than it allows in deductions. So the choice is really about keeping more of your money at the point of earning it for your family and/or small business, as opposed to having the government cut you a check for less at tax time, making you feel as though they “gave you something”. It’s all in who you think is better at handling your money, you or Uncle Sam? One would think this is a no brainer, yet it invites an ideological battle the likes of which is made even more dramatic by the constant ringing of the 24 hour news cycle.

Now while I admit class-warfare as opposed to spirited dialogue is far less constructive, the notion our enemies see the latter as the lynchpin of our demise is questionable at best. To the contrary, robust debate of any issue, as well as individual thought and argument, are things fundamentalists seek to destroy in their own lands. Logic tells us then, our “process”,  however fractious it may be at times, is most certainly a weapon in our arsenal, not theirs. This is not to say that “united” we won’t always stand stronger, but that strength is also derived from our “independence” and freedom which so many have died to defend. Ultimately, if unity evades us, it is because there are “forces within” our communities, that are slowly eroding the fundamental truths which have always bound us together. But this is a much broader argument for another day.

Look, I will not be the first to say the suggestion that Governor Romney was somehow complicit in the death of that man’s wife was outrageous and over the top. Nor will I be the first to say I’m sick of hearing the President is not an American citizen. However, when the slant is clearly to the Left within the ranks of the “main stream” media, and the (occupy) violence and lawlessness is ignored in favor of the (Tea Party) types “clinging to their guns and Bibles” as the lead story, well then that’s an argument over traditional American values and the direction of our country. It is about what that country will look like for my young son, and it is an argument I will not run from, (nor do I suspect the other side will either).

It is true this election will most likely be remembered as the most vitriolic in American political history. There are very real and troubling reasons for this, and they cannot be ignored because there are those who choose to wrap their true political leanings in the soft and fancy paper of a Starbucks coffee and pastry combo. History tells us time and again, complacency in the face of adversity is the seed of national destruction. It also tells us our way of life is unique and necessary in the world, and that way of life must at times be defended by people of strong character and Constitutional conviction. It is therefore the “responsibility” of “We the People” to do our homework while we wade through the political semantics, and do what we know in our hearts and minds to be right for our children. It is also our responsibility not to set aside critical decisions because we lack the moral courage and fortitude to stand up for what makes us exceptional. As someone who chooses to inject himself into the political debate, I ask only that you consider this and vote your conscience… We will soon see where we are headed…

Divided we fall…

I thought it was interesting amidst all the economic chaos in Europe, how we are reminded of President Reagan’s premise that freedom is always one generation away from extinction. Well then it should come as no surprise, that with nations like Greece and Spain poised to ignite financial Armageddon across the pond, the Neo-Nazi party in Greece has gained in political strength from 2 percent  to 22 percent, and now holds 21 seats in Parliament. These frightening trends are also becoming more noticeable in France and Italy. So a note to the complacent among you: When government fails to make good on promises it should never have made in the first place, the gates are then opened for the sinister forces of evil to invade the minds of a disgruntled populous causing confusion and mayhem. In the whirlwind of debate which ensues, blame is more easily affixed and the truth becomes lost in the fog of ideology. This is exactly what the Fascists and Communists used to insert their illegitimate causes into the mainstream of European politics, eventually causing the deaths of tens of millions of innocents in the 1930’s and 40’s. (Ironically, more than one third of the population of Greece would eventually be murdered by the Nazis during World War II).

I tell you this because I believe history is our greatest friend. It can also be our worst enemy should we “choose” to ignore its pointed lessons. The United States is undoubtedly in the grip of great financial stress, the complexities of which we have not seen before. And we do not have to look far to see some of the same forces of evil attempting to exploit our nations weakened condition. The likes of George Soros and the millions he pumps into organizations like “Acorn” and “Media Matters”, are a stark reminder that the very freedom our soldiers are dying to protect is threatened more covertly (but effectively) by those who are content to manipulate and promote our collapse from within.

It is certainly not my intention to be the predictable “prophet of doom”, but rather to wake Americans from their complacent slumber and remind them that what we are going through is real and getting worse. These circumstances always leaves us more vulnerable, especially if we are fractured and divided. We must remember there will always be wolves at the door of liberty, and that the lessons of history are there for us to embrace and learn from so our posterity may at least have a fighting chance.

“There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be fixed by Americans.” – President Clinton – “But we must first unite behind a common culture and the original, Constitutional intent.” – Fred Comella

It’s only the first debate…

Just a couple of observations. (If) we are to believe the polls, Governor Romney did exactly what he needed to do and took the fight to the President. He was on message, articulate and described what is the most basic but important part of this election, “the vivid contrast” between two visions for America. And while the President did seem a bit disinterested and smug, that actually didn’t surprise me one bit.

Now I won’t get into why I feel the POTUS is not necessarily the “likable” guy many folks seem to think he is. I might just let the recently revealed tapes of a couple of very divisive speeches he made before he was elected speak for themselves on that matter. Consequently, I definitely got the feeling the Obama camp was trying mightily not to appear outside of that “likability” comfort zone. Let’s face it, Romney pretty much showed that’s really all they have. Arguably however, this is only the first debate. And judging from the “Shame Stream Media” response thus far, they will be out in full force today to spin this to the President’s advantage as best they can.

The simple truth is that in November, “We the People” will in fact have to do exactly what Governor Romney said last night, and choose between two very different ideological directions for our country. One thing is for certain after watching last night’s contest though, and that is neither of the candidates  attempted to hide theirs. Using only this as a benchmark, I score the night a tie.

The Eye of the Storm…

My wife and I renewed our wedding vows this past weekend and then traveled to our favorite Block Island Bed and Breakfast to recharge our batteries. It’s amazing how some quiet time on the beach can promote introspection. The ocean has always been a friend to me, and I’ve run back wounded to the sea many times. It also doesn’t hurt to be married to a like-minded soul. This trip had special meaning though, and our son’s future was a huge part of that. Things are changing in our country and I’m becoming more and more aware of what we as a nation seem increasingly comfortable with leaving behind. It’s almost as if there are forces at work lopping off huge chunks of our cultural identity and no one seems to care. Ironically, as we head back to the mainland and I turn on the news for the first time in a few days, I see things getting steadily worse, yet the President’s poll numbers are getting steadily better.

For too many reasons I’m sure, there is a growing segment of the U.S. population who are completely comfortable with barely an, or even no effort at all. These entitlement voters have either been convinced or have convinced themselves the “American Dream” is dead and buried, and they are now somehow owed their “fair share” at the expense of someone else who earned theirs. Social mainstays that are the foundations for all which has made us unique and exceptional, are now routinely manipulated and attacked as “out of touch” by revisionist anarchists with only selfish motivations. Progressive politicians are rewriting our founding documents in order to establish and maintain an environment were even change for the worse can be viewed as favorable so long as you can blame all the negative results on something or someone else. And the simple truths of God given and inalienable rights are called into question when they stand in the way of wealth redistribution and/or some perceived utopian fantasy world without accountability. Yes, it is a sad day in America when a man with as many secrets as President Barack Obama can slip in under the radar and alter the course of freedom, because so many Americans are asleep at the wheel, and still others have simply surrendered their reason at the altar of Left-Wing Progressivism.

Alas, I suppose I must continue the fight despite the growing number who continue to fly in the face of fact and history. I would tell you though, I think Kirk Cameron got it right at the end of the movie “Monumental”, a short film I think every American should watch with their children close by…

“The responsibility to secure freedom for my family lies in my hands. For 400 years we’ve had the strategy. We’ve got the game plan. And its produced a nation that is healthy strong and free. And every time we’ve strayed from it, we’ve suffered the consequences. The seed that grew this nation is faith in God. That faith produces character. A character that produces great courage. Courage to self-govern. Courage to guide and educate our children in the right world view. And the courage to elect today’s liberty men and women who will take the torch from our forefathers. The answer doesn’t begin at the White House, it begins at your house. I’m no longer gonna sit on the sidelines. I’m gonna get involved. And I know there are millions who feel like I do. As for me and my family we’re going this way. The way of our heroes, who fought against all odds and changed the world. The time is now. Join me, and together we will secure a monumental future for our children…” – Kirk Cameron —-Amen!

Cowboy Diplomacy vs. Vegas Diplomacy…

Apparently the President’s “chickens have come home to roost”. The policy of apathy and apology is a flaming disaster. Even SOS Clinton was stunned and heard to say “how could this happen”?

So how does the POTUS respond? He misrepresents and lies regarding Governor Romney’s statement concerning the attack in Libya, blows off yet another “intelligence” briefing, then jets off to Vegas to raise some campaign cash calling Ambassador Stevens’ death “a bad day”. Mr. Obama’s strategy for addressing a monumental failure of policy and leadership, which in this author’s opinion resulted in the coordinated murder of 1 United States Ambassador and 3 Diplomatic/military attaches’ on the anniversary of 9/11, appears to be to do more of the same.

Nonetheless it is ironic, that with memories of the DNC Convention still lingering, and all the attempts to portray Mr. Obama as somehow foreign policy savvy, that we now see the complete ineptitude of an inexperienced political creation way out of his league. Even more ironic though easier to reconcile, is that the press feels it is unacceptable to question the Administration or the POTUS regarding foreign policy during a campaign cycle. This from the same bunch of dolts that couldn’t print enough of then Candidate Obama’s distortions about President Bush’s foreign policy initiatives. Heck, the “Lame Stream Media” unwittingly gave us all of the one liners and sound bites we now use against the President. Turns out Obama in his own words is a treasure trove of material.

Ultimately, my advice to the President at this time would be this. You have just lost a senior and well respected diplomat to a terrorist attack, and there must be accountability. Your Administration is the laughing stock of the Middle East and most everywhere else but the U.S. East and West Coast. I beg you please, do your Constitutional duty Sir and protect the interest and safety of the American people here and abroad.

“All those opposed, say NO…”

If there was a moment when the Democrats laid it all out for everyone to see, it was yesterday when they “amended” the party platform to include the mention of God and show Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Not only was the lunatic and Godless Left element, which now appears to be dominating the Democrat Party, present and accounted for, but it also sounded as if they actually won a vote L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa tried desperately to pass off as two thirds “in the affirmative”. Only after a wayward camera caught the teleprompter with a “cued up” message to that end already running, was the “Lame Stream” press then forced to run the story. Moreover, it was not until the original story of the platform lacking the references broke, that the “smartest man in the room”, President Obama, intervened and ordered the platform changed, (most likely regardless of the vote count).

Now if there is anyone still out there who believes the Democrats are not obviously and drastically influenced by the radical Left wing of their party, and that they are at the very least, nothing but a bunch of desperate and pandering politicians, please apply either your (sycophant apologist) or (dunce) cap immediately, and proceed to the corner of the room, because you should not be part of any logical or useful debate. Wow….

Gasping…

The latest ad from the Elizabeth Warren camp is a picture perfect example of a campaign in crisis mode. The Liberal Democratic Candidate for Senator Scott Brown’s seat in Massachusetts has latched on to the Akin controversy with the talons of a desperate competitor who is in trouble and out of ideas, (if she had any to begin with). The fact that the ad is flat-out rubbish and awash with mischaracterizations and down right lies, is almost lost behind what sounds like the gasping tone of it.

Listening to Warren speak is almost painful. She is easily flustered and devoid of any logical or factual debate. Her lack of knowledge on even the most basic issues regarding the current economic crisis we face, is trumped only by her missteps and bumbling attempts to clarify her “Native American” heritage.

I simply cannot defend the Akin remarks, and I have stated as much in recent commentary. Having said that, if Ms. Warren would like to speak out for women in America today, maybe she could offer a solution to the disproportionate unemployment numbers for women during the “Obama years”, rather than fear mongering and propagandizing. Then again, that’s what the Left does best. What a joke…
