“Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7)

Paula Deen

Paula Deen

It’s hard to get past today’s headlines and not ask when will the sins of a nation be forgiven. Factually speaking, “We the People” of the United States have done more to address the injustice of racism while promoting human equality than any nation in recorded history. I think no law passed however, or political will imposed, can take the place of a moral and decent upbringing free of learned prejudices. With that said, it does appear there are those who would continue to promote superficial and manufactured differences instead of the simple humanity which unites every one of us, all while fanning the flames of division for their own selfish interests.

I am not a huge Paula Deen fan per se. I do love her southern cooking style though, and have downloaded a few of her recipes in the past. (Warning – If you have an aversion to such cooking or high cholesterol, then turn the channel or quit whining.) What I can tell you is that by all appearances Deen is a self-made woman who for the last 25 + years has come from the bonds of poverty as a single mom, and achieved the American dream by way of hard work and sacrifice, (something I suspect really irks some Liberal dependency advocates out there). So when I heard of her recent trials, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. Then I did my homework on the issue and there it was, that sickening and politically correct hypocrisy which is crippling our country today. Now let me understand this. Instead of lying (as so many do), a sixty something southern woman told the truth in a court deposition, acknowledging some controversial words said many years ago and in a very different time, and we must now punish her for those words? As another consequence, the bandwagon bumpkins at Wal-Mart, Target and The Food Network have all dropped their proverbial drawers, as well as sponsorships and associated Paula Deen product lines because of the flap. Really? Well I’d certainly like to get those CEO’s under oath and ask them some similar questions, the bunch of lying hypocrites. When I analyze this insanity, and throw in the intentionally hateful, sexist and racially charged comments made by fools like Bill Maher, Jamie fox and so many other Left Wing lunatics, the glaring hypocrisy seems as thick as one of Deen’s meatloaf burgers. Layer on some inflammatory “special sauce” from the Zimmerman murder trial, which has already morphed into a matter of race and only race, and my earlier question keeps coming back. When do we move past the self-imposed and politically generated filters, and who has the intestinal fortitude to take us there?

Look, I’m not suggesting that racism and hate do not exist so long as we ignore them. To the contrary, we must battle mightily and continually against the purveyors of division. But we must do this in our homes and churches first, by continuing to reinforce the fundamental maxim that “all men are created equal”, and not by inventing ways to destroy others so they may answer for our own sin…

The next four years…

US-POLITICS-INAUGURATION-PARADELet me preface my analysis of President Obama’s Inauguration speech by acknowledging the symbolism of the day, as well as the great sacrifice made by so many to ensure it’s continuance. It is wholly and appropriately representative of The United States.

Now moving ahead of all the pomp and pageantry, one must accept the President’s speech as one of, if not the most partisan and ideological in the history of the event. Mr. Obama’s lofty and often pointed rhetoric finally revealed the entire man to those who were actually listening. And as many in the crowd booed the presence of Paul Ryan and other Republicans, it was painfully obvious #44’s policies of division and class warfare have taken firm root, setting the tone for an epic battle over the soul of this great country.

Now free of the burden of future elections, the POTUS skillfully avoided the critical issues of the day and instead presented himself as the conquering champion of a new civil rights movement. Apparently stale in his eyes, is the individual and entrepreneurial spirit of a free people whose successes (and failures) have built our great nation, and which are now trumped by a glorified mediocrity, and conditionally if not legislatively induced acceptance of “the new norm”. To listen carefully was to hear the ideologically passionate and even resentful dream of a man who has very different ideas about America than those of the Founders. One could even pick out the connection to (Martin Luther King Day), as the President’s voice became “elevated” at times, into something more fitting of the pulpit, a habit which has come easily to the man who rarely deviates from the teleprompter. Ironically, and despite Progressive attempts to portray MLK as a Socialist Icon, Barack Obama would have had little in common with the late Dr. King.

All in all the speech seemed more appropriate for a “State of the Union” address. Nevertheless, it was carefully framed on all sides by American Flags, parades and plenty of red, white and blue eye candy. There were even moments of prayer and reflection, slipped in to appease/confuse those wondering how a man supposedly so consumed with the  “equality” of human kind, could place his hand on two Christian Bibles and deny that same equality to an unborn child.

Make no mistake my fellow Americans, the four years ahead are perilous ones. Our economy teeters on the brink of disaster, held hostage by mathematical realities such as a $5000.00 drop in the median household income, and unemployment numbers the same as when this President took office. Regrettably, the campaign issues which drove him to victory at the polls are but distant memories. Our President’s focus for his second term appears now to be strictly ideological and broad-based in terms of those social issues he believes will move the nation away from its historical foundations, and secure his legacy as the Liberal Progressive President who finally made it happen

1-20-13, The Inauguration of Apathy…

Inaugural_platform-001_s640x427Whether you agree with him or not, Barack Obama will be sworn in as President of The United States for a second term. The backdrop of this inauguration however, will be one of uncertainty and disillusionment to be sure.

We are living in a time of choices like we have never faced, and they are not necessarily ideological choices. Nevertheless, most Americans must now decide whether they will recognize and accept the factual evidence of our national “situation”, or whether they will choose to ignore that evidence, blame someone or something else, and hope the “situation” will correct itself. Here are some undeniable truths to consider though, if you have the intestinal fortitude…

Our overall economy has already morphed into an over-extended and dormant entity on life support, chugging along at what would normally be considered a pathetic pace. Stocks are up though they are critically overvalued paper, and lack the raw capital which once calmed a long term investor. Unemployment remains under-reported and elevated because of uncertainty over the rising costs associated with owning and running a business. Ideological taxes and benefit burdens threaten to blow up middle America, with a recent report from a former GAO Chief predicting Obamacare may very well collapse the entire economy. (Note: Most credible analysts who aren’t drinking the Obama Kool-Aid support that prediction.) And as a nation, we spend nearly twice what we take in, with our debt now growing beyond our realistic ability to pay it off of our great-grandchildren’s backs.

In full view of all of these facts many have simply chosen to dig in their partisan heals and spit into the proverbial fan. Politicians for life on both sides of the aisle have put us on a collision course with financial Armageddon, and there seems little “We the People” are prepared to do about it. Moreover, Chief Justice John Roberts will swear in a President tomorrow, who lacks both the life experience and historical grasp to lead us back onto the right avenue, a demagogue, drunk on perceived adoration, and who is content see this college experiment through to it’s inevitable conclusion, even if it means the United States emerges but a shell of its former glory.

Now some will call me a racist for my conclusions. Still others will call (me) the partisan, and I will undoubtedly argue against this foolishness to the bitter end. That said, what we are facing here is a mathematical certainty with unimaginable consequences, which can no longer be denied or framed as just some radical doomsday prediction. The hard numbers are now in plain sight. Make no mistake, I too am stunned at how quickly this country was lulled into a catatonic 1960’s mentality, unable to see reality or reason, blinded by rhetoric, and selfishly willing to deny their posterity.

So as I watch and listen to President Obama take the oath of office once more, and I hear him swear to uphold the Constitution of this nation once again, and then I listen some more as he will undoubtedly rehash much of the old “Hope and Change” diatribe, I will be considering my sons and our children’s America. Regrettably, my conclusions will be the same as they were in 2008. The President is not the problem. We are…

Let the battle begin…

I did my level best to keep an open mind during last night’s debate, which is more than I can say for some of my email detractors. You folks really need to consider anger management classes. With that said, I think not many minds were changed by this last meeting of President Obama and Governor Romney. I did feel the President sounded more like the challenger rather than the incumbent. But overall, the stark contrasts between the two men and their ideologies was only reinforced.

I have framed this election for the last four years as a battle for the soul of this country. I stand by that assessment even more steadfastly today. In the end, folks will have to do a great deal of gut checking when they go into the voting booth. And while there will always be the party loyalists who vote their emotions instead of on the basis of truth, this election will ultimately be decided when clear-headed individuals make a conscious choice in terms of where they see our country in twenty years.

With the debates now over, I cannot remember a more divided America. Sadly, this is our own doing and not that of some political boogie man conjured up by either side. We have failed in so many ways to safeguard that which was entrusted to us, and are therefore left to fight over what the founders had intended to be so much more clear. Our value system is in chaos and the minority has paralyzed an entire culture, because so many have chosen apathy and political correctness over the time-tested principles of individual liberty and accountability. Dependency is now revered and success is demonized. Revisionist history is the norm and few of our children are learning the greatness of America or of those who gave their futures to keep it that way.

Nonetheless and in the simplest of terms, for Governor Romney to become President there must be enough voters out there who understand, our current direction will erode and eventually erase the exceptionalism which has made The United States the greatest arrangement for mankind in all of human history. And for President Obama to remain President, there must be enough voters who have become comfortable with a globalist, big government, big debt and “live in the moment” application. On November 6, 2012, the world will know whether “We the People” shall rise up from adversity once again, and unite to leave our children a better future as we have done for generations, or whether we will simply be another political punch-line, remembered only for the missed opportunity of having learned the lessons of history. Please put any ill-conceived or resentment filled rhetoric in its proper place and vote your conscience this November…There is much at stake…

It’s only the first debate…

Just a couple of observations. (If) we are to believe the polls, Governor Romney did exactly what he needed to do and took the fight to the President. He was on message, articulate and described what is the most basic but important part of this election, “the vivid contrast” between two visions for America. And while the President did seem a bit disinterested and smug, that actually didn’t surprise me one bit.

Now I won’t get into why I feel the POTUS is not necessarily the “likable” guy many folks seem to think he is. I might just let the recently revealed tapes of a couple of very divisive speeches he made before he was elected speak for themselves on that matter. Consequently, I definitely got the feeling the Obama camp was trying mightily not to appear outside of that “likability” comfort zone. Let’s face it, Romney pretty much showed that’s really all they have. Arguably however, this is only the first debate. And judging from the “Shame Stream Media” response thus far, they will be out in full force today to spin this to the President’s advantage as best they can.

The simple truth is that in November, “We the People” will in fact have to do exactly what Governor Romney said last night, and choose between two very different ideological directions for our country. One thing is for certain after watching last night’s contest though, and that is neither of the candidates  attempted to hide theirs. Using only this as a benchmark, I score the night a tie.

Ole’ Joe, at it again…

I’ve been taking some time to digest the Vice Presidents comments from the other day in Virginia, as I do not want to be accused of overreacting or piling on. Having said this, it seems to me, it is what I always say it is. The Left simply cannot compete in the arena of ideas, and must therefore descend to the gutter and proceed with their Plan B, “divide and demonize”.

Joe Biden has never been much of a coherent speaker. The reality is, he probably couldn’t find his way out of a paper bag with 2 hands and a flashlight. The VP is more of an entrenched political hack who has managed to buffalo enough folks over his career to remain somewhat relevant. Frankly, I would find him amusing if I didn’t know the true intent of his base. Somewhat Ironic though, this clown would in fact become President of The United States if the POTUS could not continue in that role for some reason. Now I don’t know about you, but that scares me. Admittedly, I am no fan of President Obama’s policies, but with Ole’ Joe in the rear view mirror, Mr. Obama has my hopes and prayers for a healthy and fully complete (1) term as President.

Nonetheless, if anyone believes Biden wasn’t expressing and/or somehow framing the Obama campaigns position(s) as they travel the “57” states, then they should just refrain from opining at all. The only thing happening here, is the President and his minions, including Ole’ Joe, are doubling down on their rhetoric. They are keenly aware of their own policy and ideological “exposure” at this juncture, and are simply becoming more and more comfortable with that “exposure”.

In the absence of any tangible economic progress to speak of, President Barack Obama and his campaign, are apparently now content to show “We the People” their true colors. Vitriolic and hate filled rhetoric will be used to avoid any discussion of critical issues like entitlement reform, taxes, healthcare, Medicare, and joblessness. Sadly, and as I often point out, these divisive tactics do draw out (the real radical haters) who are on the Left, as we see today with the individual who tried to shoot up the Conservative Family Research Council’s office in Washington.

Anyway, if I were to advise the Romney/Ryan ticket in any fashion, I would tell them not to be suckered into this type of phony race baiting and class warfare crap, except to refute it for what it is, the desperate flailing of an intellectually and morally bankrupt political strategy. Focus on the issues and come forward with your own clear and concise vision for our children’s future, and this shouldn’t even be close.

Gun control and more…

Let me begin with Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Or maybe I should ask, where do I begin with Mayor Mike Bloomberg? This is clearly an individual whose financial and political status have positioned him atop a bully pulpit for which he is neither suited or qualified. His recent comments in the wake of the Aurora shooting are reckless and ill-timed at best. Moreover, the factual numbers concerning gun control have never and will never support his arguments.

One need only read the writings of Jefferson, Adams, Madison, Hamilton and a multitude of others to know the “right to keep and bear arms” is inherent and essential to the existence of a free people. Sadly, sound bites and uneducated opinions have found their way into the debate, and clouded the minds of otherwise sensible Americans. Responsible journalism has been replaced by activism, and Bill O’Reilly is now somehow an authority on “automatic” firearms. The problem is, ordinary citizens cannot purchase “automatic” firearms without a special federal license, and the Aurora shooter had no “automatic” weapons in his possession that fateful evening. It is this type of misinformation which permeates the “lame stream” media talking points today, and makes reasonable debate on the matter all the more challenging. In this case I would thank the good Lord for the NRA. That’s right Bill Moyer. The NRA is not the “enabler of death”, but you may very well be the enabler of ignorance and ideological rhetoric. Ah, the frustration of listening to this Left Wing operative try and pass himself off as any kind of journalist or commentator. What a joke.

Actually, if you were to fact check the NRA statistics, you would find that much of their numbers crunching comes from federal agencies to include the BATFE, FBI, and the CDC. When you throw in the figures from states and cities with “right to carry” laws on the books, and which show significantly lower crime rates than those without, one has to wonder how the anti-gun lobby can make any case at all.

Inevitably, it is tragedy like that in Aurora which allows disingenuous fools like Bloomberg, Lautenberg, Feinstein and Schumer, to come out of their respective holes and exploit the loved and lost to make a political, albeit nonsensical point. The truth is even more frightening though, and it is that these opportunists are not the least bit interested in the loss of the innocent, but rather their fear of an educated and armed citizenry, has shaped their ideology into something perversely unconstitutional and un-American.

Please support the 2nd Amendment. It guarantees the rest. Donate to the NRA at: https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp?campaignid=bonusgiftwy&EK=Y2GRPPBD&pubID=148.30&hid=15109902

“The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good”

The values of Chicago???

This statement on its face is laughable. Rohm Emanuel continues to remove all doubt that he is not up to the job of dog catcher, never mind mayor. Moreover, his affinity for those who would selectively apply the First Amendment depending on the message, is now cemented for all to see with this (Chick-Fil-A) situation.

Why is it that whenever a person espouses traditional values or Christian sentiment, their right of free speech is somehow diminished by the shrill cries of the Progressive hate mongers. Dan Cathy, a man who is simply seeking to expand his business (Chick-Fil-A), which in turn will create much needed tax revenue and jobs, is now being ridiculed and shut out because he endorses the traditional American family. Initially, I did not want this to be an ideologically based post, but now I find it necessary to go a bit further concerning the decision of some cities to block (Chick-Fil-A) because of their presidents statements on gay marriage.

Firstly, at no point did company President Dan Cathy advocate discrimination of any sort against any segment of the population. He was responding to a question concerning “fatherless families” and expanded his answer on the “Ken Coleman Show” to include his Christian belief system. It was a completely appropriate format and his statements were in the context of that forum. In fact, Cathy has repeatedly stated that the franchise serves any and all patrons with no exceptions. The hoopla is exclusively tied to his companies support of a traditional family, and the fact that “his” value set does not condone gay marriage. Now reading any further into the issue is merely an attempt by the Lunatic Left to smear those who are not “politically correct”. Translation: If you do not believe as we do, you are a bigot who should not be allowed your First Amendment rights as outlined in the Bill of Rights. Insane? Maybe, but I think it’s worse than that.

For my part, I have a simple philosophy, and that is no person shall enjoy rights beyond those of another, or at the expense of another. No special laws, and no special consideration. A crime is a crime whether it is committed against a gay, straight, black, white, red, yellow or polka-dot person. A violation of that or any persons civil rights shall constitute no special treatment either way, just a sound and fundamental application of the law as written and vetted through the court system. The notion that we will pick and choose whose rights are valued more than another is ludicrous and irresponsible. We are all entitled to our value systems and opinions. But those systems and opinions should never be the basis for any shallow and self serving political hack, to incite undue and/or unreasonable public discourse rooted in their own or some groups bias and bigotry. And yes, Christians are entitled to the same considerations as gays or any other group.

At the end of the day, there will be much more at stake in November than many realize. America as we know it is in jeopardy, and for all the wrong reasons. Do not boycott (Chick-Fil-A), but rather defend their rights to believe as they wish, as you would have yours defended. If you chose not to patronize their business, let that be a personal decision which shall come with my respect. However, for a politician to block a legitimate business for the sake of ideological differences and political expediency, is reckless, unlawful and compromises all that America stands for. So to the Mayors who are considering this action against (Chick-Fil-A), your understanding of the Bill of Rights and your responsibilities is flawed. In the best interest of your constituents, resign immediately, go back to history and civics class and start over.
